  • Need help connecting a windows network printer to my Mac (Xerox Phaser 3600) over a windows home network

Need help connecting a windows network printer to my Mac (Xerox Phaser 3600) over a windows home network.
My Mac runs lion and the windows desktop runs Windows XP
I have tried for a few hours or so to connect my mac to this printer over a home network.
For your information it does work when connected directly to my mac using a USB Cable.
If there is no soultion could I have help getting the drivers for a Dell All-in-One Photo 926

In most cases you can connect to the Windows shared printer from the Mac. But there is a dependence on the Mac driver being compatible. For many consumer inkjets, the vendor created driver cannot be used for this type of connection so you need to look at alternative drivers, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have shared from Windows then we can answer your question with the preferred procedure on the Mac.

  • XP - Win7Pro(64bit) network printing problem with both D2660 and B8550

Everything seems to be working but the printing.  I can enable sharing on win7, even add the x86 drivers.  I can 'Add Printer' on XP and browse and find either printer.  It installs fine and can be made the default printer.  I can select printer preferences and I see the user interface unique to each printer and can adjust page layout/quality/whatever.  But when I push print, it fails.  Likewise if I just try to print test page, I get a failure.
Test page failed to print.  Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?
I tried the troubleshooter, but no joy.
I also tried the HP Print Diagnostic Utility and it immediately returns and says connection could not be established-- reboot the computer.  Seems like it thinks it is a local printer?
    Any thoughts?

Please help! The printer is a color laserjet 3800. The ip address will not reset when I plug it into the wall drop.

    Hi Dimon87,
The code interface node is very rarely used and therefore there isn't a lot of documentation about it. Since you already have your code written, I would really recommend compiling your code into a DLL and call it using the Call Library Function Node. For your reference I am attaching a few links that talk about using the Call Library Function Node.

    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361D-01/lvexcodeconcepts/configuring_the_clf_node/
In addition please look in the example finder for an example called Call DLL.vi It gives a very extensive explanation about using this function.

  • Problems printing (not exporting) a JPEG at high res on Windows 7 64bit?

I have searched for similar problems but could not find in the forums.
When I try to print a JPG from the Print module in LR 3.6 (and tried it also with 3.5), it does not always recognize the resolution settings.   Most of the time (and I can't see what makes the difference) it prints the JPG to a 96 ppi resolution regardless of what setting I use for resolution.
Does this happen to anyone else?
    Thanks
    -- Luis

    Windows 7, 64 and LR 3.6
I am facing the same problem as Luis. Back in October I did several LR “print to file” for 20x30 prints at 360 ppi. I saved the print template as a User Template. At the time I did this prints I used LR 3.4.
Since then I upgraded to LR 3.6. Today I wanted to do a “print to file” of the same image with same Print Template. When I check the resolution of the JPEG print to file output image it shows a 96 dpi resolution. I tried other LR ppi settings and I always get a 96 dpi resolution. Except for the upgrade from LR 3.4 to LR 3.6 and PS CS4 to CS5.1 nothing changed on my system which leads me to believe that LR 3.6 broke something in the print module. Any ideas what is going on?

  • Error 0x00000709 Networked printer not working in a home network with HomeGroup enabled.

I should start by describing my network by device.
Gateway device - Motorola SB5120 SURFboard cable modem
Router/WAP device - Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router with 4 port Switch Model: WRT54G v4 Security: WPA2 with firewall.
Windows 7 Ultimate Desktop with Homegroup enabled (Printer driver installed & ethernet wired)
Windows 7 Pro Laptop set to homegroup for the Desktop (Ethernet wired and Wireless depending on the situation)
Windows 7 Home set to homegroup for the Desktop (Wireless)
    Brother Printer Model: HL-2170W (Wireless)
HP Printer Model: HP Officejet 6500A Plus (Wireless)
    What have I done?
Installed drivers on 2 of the 3 computers. The final computer (Win7 Home) was added in later and works fine when connecting to the internet through the WAP. However it does not even find the printer when trying to install the driver which is a part of the
process for driver installation for the Brother Printer.
I had set up the printer for two of the three computers and had it working at one time however in trying to get the printer set up for the final computer I somehow have messed up those settings.
During that setup I tried to move the printer to a networked printer (It was shared before and installed on the network with both the Desktop and the Win7Pro lappy able to print but it would not print for the new arrival to the Homenetwork. This caused
me to seek a solution which involved installing the proper driver in the Win7Home and the discovery that the driver installer could not find the Brother printer at all which prompted the moving of the printer to a networked printer.) (The Win7Home computer does
not find the HP printer either but that is a can of worms yet unopened.)
I am sure there are a few things that I did not do correctly and I may have left out some additional information which you may require. If I can help clarify this question please feel free to query me. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

    Hi,
May I know that are these two network printer with network adapter?  If they are installed on the network, you could add them and install the drivers  for Windows 7.

  • Canon MX870 network printer works sometimes

OK so I am in need of some help with printing over a wifi network.
I am using a Canon MX870 as a network printer with a Macbook Pro, and iMac that are connected to it via wifi. I also had it connected via ethernet and I still had the same issues. The printer does print but not consistently. It will randomly say that there is a communication error in the canon print status. I had the same issues with another HP officejet.
I am running the verizon wireless router and Mac OSX 10.6. Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Given the current situation with the MX870 and the previous issue with the HP then I suggest you try changing the channel used by the Verizon router. Sometimes this can be done automatically by the router - simply restarting the device can be enough for it to obtain another channel. The other way would be to connect to the internal web page of the Verizon, by typing its IP address as the URL in Safari, and then manually changing the channel currently being used.
As to what channel to use, I suggest you get an application that can scan your immediate area to show what other wireless access points are close and could be conflicting with yours. There is a nice widget called Airlock that will show all wireless access points the Mac can 'see' and show what channels they are using. With this knowledge you can then select a channel that is not being used, or at least reply with what the utility finds and report this back.
The other thing you can check is the measured signal strength of the MX870. This can be found on the internal web page of the printer, which you access by typing its IP address into your browser. If you don't know the IP address you can use Safari to find the device, by opening the Bookmarks link in the toolbar and then selecting Bonjour in the left pane of Safari. The MX870 should be listed in the right pane. Selecting it will show the MX870 home page and here will be the quality and strength of the wireless signal. If these values are low then this will explain why you have been losing connection with the device.

  • New tip trick for capturing scanned images to the PB from your wireless network printer

I've read a couple of threads here and on crackberry about not being able to print directly to a printer on the local network (although there is a way to print via the cloud from gmail apparently). Anyway it occurred to me that I can browse to my printer's IP address and in addition to allowing me to configure it, it also lets me scan documents to jpg, pdf, and tiff formats and then renders the scanned image through the browser. I tried this from the Playbook browser and it worked perfectly. i was able to view and save the scanned document directly to my Playbook file system. Even more conveniently I could just take a screenshot of the browser window. Now if only the printer would let me print the scan or better yet browse to and upload a local file for print my printing problems would be solved. I am using an older HP 2500 psc. Does anyone know of a newer model wireless/network printer that allows printing via the browser interface?

Just to clarify. When your playbook and the wireless printer are on the same network, you can browse to the IP address of the wireless printer from your playbook just as you could from your PC or laptop. The browser will display the printer's web features which in my case includes the ability to scan the document that is laying on the scanner bed of the printer. When I click the scan button, the image of the scanned document renders on my playbook and I am able to save the rendered TIFF, JPG, PDF to the playbook locally or I can even just take a screenshot (press the playbook's volume up and down buttons simultaneously) and then the image of the document from the browser window automatically saves to the camera folder under pictures.
What I would like is to find a wireless printer that from the web page that is displayed when I browse to the printers local IP address be able to browse to a file on my playbook and upload it to the printer (kind of like uploading or attaching a document to a gmail email message or uploading a local picture to Facebook etc...) and then instruct the printer to print the document. Obviously this would only work when I was on the same local wireless network as the printer but it would essentially solve the "how to print directly to a wireless printer from the playbook?" question.

  • Desname question: network printer name

I have a report need to print to a sepcify printer, so I use rwservlet, with this parameter "destype=printer&desformat=pdf&desname=myprinter" ...
This works if "myprinter" is name of a local printer attached to my PC (windows2000) directly, but won't work if it is a network printer, here is the error mesg returned:
"REP-713: Invalid printer name 'myprinter' specified by parameter DESNAME"
    any idea?
    Thanks.
    David

    Hi Devid,
    Few things to check:
    1. Make sure the network printer name is "myprinter" only and not \\<network>\myprinter otherwise you need to specify the printer name with network path.
    2. If you are running a standalone report server i.e you are not using inprocess server, make sure the owner or admin of this report server service has the priviledge to access your network printer. In many a cases we have seen the admin of report services will not have the access right to printer and you will end up with this error message.
    Thanks

  • Wireless Network Printing; "Network is Busy", Cannot ping printer from my Macbook Pro

I have a MBP (Mac OSX 10.6.8, Intel i7) connected wirelessly to a Actiontec Q1000 wireless router.  The wireless router has a printer connected via a LAN ethernet cable.  I am able to log in to the router (192.168.0.1) and see the printer (192.168.0.8), and from the router's Utilities I can ping the printer using the router's ping tool.  I am unable to ping the printer from my MBP.  I am unable to log into the printer's IP address by typing in 192.168.0.8 in my browser window.
I also have a Windows laptop connected to the same wireless network.  From the router, I can see the Window's laptop (192.168.0.10) and the Windows laptop can ping the printer (again, 192.168.0.8).  Additionally, from the Windows laptop I can log into the printer's IP address by typing in 192.168.0.8 in my browser window.
The printer is a Dell 1700n and I am using the "Generic Postscript Printer Driver".  I am able to delete the printer, and then add it back in as a USB connected printer and print fine.  I then delete the printer and add it back in as a network printer (192.168.0.8) and am then unable to print.  I am getting an error that says "Network is busy, will retry in ___ seconds".  I then get a error message that says the "Printer is busy".
Using the MBP's "Network Utility's" ping tab, I am able to ping the router (192.168.0.1), the other Windows laptop (192.168.0.10), my Roku (192.168.0.7), etc.  I am unable to ping the printer (192.168.0.8).
From my Window's CMD prompt, I am able to ping the router (192.168.0.1), my MBP (192.168.0.5), my Roku (192.168.0.7) and the printer (192.168.0.8).  I am also able to print wirelessly from my Window's laptop (192.168.0.10).
I have looked for a CUPS printer driver for my Dell 1700n printer, but there is only a CUPS printer driver for the Dell 1710n printer (which is different).
I have also googled around and found that the Dell 1700n is an old Lexmark E322 printer, so I installed the CUPS Lexmark E322 printer driver.  I then try to print wirelessly from my MBP and nothing.
This is clearly a network MBP issue, and I have searched the forums but have been unable to track down a solution.  I would appreciate anyone's help to enable me to:
    1.  Be able to ping my printer (192.168.0.8),
    2.  Be able to log in to my printer via a web browser (http://192.168.0.8), and
    3.  Be able to print wirelessly to the printer from my MBP.
    Does anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,
    MC

So I spent almost 3 hours on a share session with Lexmark, who I must say I was incredibly impressed with their patience.  Long story short, my wife and I have the exact same MBPs.  Her MBP was printing fine to the same printer.  The tech and I verified that all of our network settings were identical.  At the end of the day, the solution was power cycling the router.  Poof.  Magic.  No idea why the power cycle worked, but it worked and I now have a solution.  Let me know if anyone has any questions about all of the steps in between.

  • Need help getting Mac driver for HP PSC 1510 that works on XP networked printer

My goal is to use a Mac OS X 10.5 laptop and use a Windows XP networked printer - an HP PSC 1510. So far I have failed.
I downloaded a driver update 1.1.1 from Mac which has version 4.03 of the HP PSC 1500 series family of drivers. However, the documentation states that it is not one that will work with an IP or XP connected printer. The earlier driver that came with Mac OS X 10.5 documentation also says that it will not work with an IP or XP connected printer. This explained why the Mac versions of the HP software applications could not see my printer. I had also tried using the default Postscript generic option presented when I was setting up the network printer on the Mac. My one graphic page printed as ten or twelve text pages of nonsense characters so that was also a failure.
So I have my shared HP PSC 1510 wired (connected) off my Windows XP desktop and shared on my home network. I really want to be able to print to the HP PSC 1510 from my wireless Mac laptop especially now that I am partially disabled and getting up and to the PC printer is painful.
If anyone knows how to make this work properly, or even an acceptable workaround, I would be ever so grateful.
