Car charger that works with the bumper case?
Does anyone know which, if any, brands of car chargers and models that work with the new bumper case? I went to best buy yesterday and they all looked too thick to even buy it and give it a try.
I'm pretty sure the lack of functionality with car chargers and the bumper case is simply because the cutouts for the USB connector on the bumper is too small..that's the only reason. Otherwise it will work; it's simply a physical problem with the connector not seating properly; that's it.
I'm saying this based on my own situation. I have a Griffin car charger /FM receiver that worked with my iPhone 3G and it worked with my iPhone 4 until I put the bumper case on.
The situation is the same situation as to why the Apple supplied USB cable that shipped with the 3G does not work with the iPhone 4 w/bumper. Apple redesigned the size of the USB connector and sized the cutout on the bumper for their new smaller size making the bumper not backwards compatible with existing devices with the older size USB connectors. The size differential is not that big but it's big enough to cause problems. -

I have a Sony DCR TRV17 that I used to pass through VCR tape video via Firewire port to my Mac Pro under Imovie 9.0.9 without an issue. Now under Imovie 10.0 the video shows in the import window, I can start recording yet when I stop recording the recorded clips do not show up anywhere. The movie file I'm creating still indicates that I still need to import video. Anyone having similar problems?

I had this issue only once before but was lucky enought to find it was a specific event causing the import to freeze. It took me some time to isolate the problem though. I would recommend letting it sit there for some time before you try any troubleshooting. Larger libraries can take long periods of time to update.
This is a good thread for this issue. I would first try removing the iMovie.plist as elikness mentions.
1. Open Finder
2. Click on "Go" in the menu bar.
3. Click on Go To Folder on the dropdown menu.
4. Type "~/Library/Preferences/" in the text field and click Go.
5. Find the com.apple.iMovie(some number).plist file and move it to Trash.
Quit and relaunch iMovie to see if this took care of the issue before attempting the next step. If you're still having an issue then you can try what I needed to do which is isolating the problem event.
1. Open Finder.
2. Go to the Movies folder. You should see iMovie Events here.
If you have a larger event library I'd recommend renaming the iMovie Events folder to say, "iMovie Events COPY". Then create a new empty folder named “iMovie Events”. When you launch iMovie 9.0.9 all events will be missing at this point. Quit iMovie if it is open. Then you can either drag each event from iMovie Events COPY to iMovie Events or you can select and drag several at a time. Each time you drag an event folder back into the new iMovie Events folder launch iMovie 9.0.9 to see if you are having the same issue. Wash and repeat until either you have found the problem event or you have imported all events.
If you find the problem event you can reimport the clip from iMovie 9.0.9 by going to File > Import > Movies and navigating to that events iMovie Original Movies folder to find the clip.

I have a new USB thumb drive that works in my 2010 iMac but not in my 2012 MacBook Pro
Today I purchased an 'autodrive' usb thumbdrive at Staples. The drive works fine on my mid 2010 iMac, and my Asus Netbook running Windows 7. However, it is not recognized at all by System Information or Disk Utility on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro. Both Macs are running Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
If I connect my 2 year old SanDisk USB thumb drive to the same USB port on my Macbook Pro, it is immediately recognized and a finder window opens. The SanDisk drive is also recognized properly by the iMac and the Netbook.
Is there any way to further debug this issue to get a better idea of why the device is not being recognized by the Macbook Pro?

-ScottI am having this exact same problem with my New MBP 15" quad core 2.6GHz i7 on 10.8.2. I have other thumb drives that work, but an older thumb drive that works on my prior MBP 15" 2.7GHz dual core i7 on 10.7 and XP and Windows 8 laptops isn't recognized at all by the newer MBP. This thumbdrive is only 256MB and may be USB 1, but USB 1 stuff should work on a USB3 interface unless it's a bug. I've freshly formatted the drive and tested it with disk utility on the older MBP, so it's an issue with the newer Mac's USB controller or MacOS 10.8.2
I suspect a bug. -

I have a generic hot backup script that runs well in our 8i environment where I source the username and password for SYS from a secured txt file. However I could not get the script to work in our recently installed 9.2.0 environment.
Below is an extract of the hot backup script:

Is it because of the username/password structure (sys/xxxxxx@<sid>)??

Starting in Oracle 9 (others will correct me if I am wrong) you cannot connect to the sys account without specifying as SYSDBA or SYSOPER.
My testing (9.2.0.3) resulted in your ORA-1013 using "sys/password@dbname as sysdba". Using "sys/password as sysdba" works just fine. I seem to remember if you want to use @dbname, you will need to use password file authentication instead of OS authentication.
My suggestion -if possible - is to use plain "connect / as sysdba" in your SQL Script and have ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID set correctly in your environment (do it in ${HOME}/BACKUP/${DBNAME}.env) :

However, I have 3 Issues Regarding iPad 2 with IOS 7:
1.) I can no longer open up the apps from the update page. (I used to be
able to & it was a quick way of making certain that I wanted to keep an app
before I updated it.
2.) I have many apps that I have updated since installing the new
operating system & they now have "open" symbols next to them, but I don't
know how to get them off of my update list (since that has already been
done to them).
3.) My iPad has gotten stuck or frozen more in this last week since the
new update then has in the last 2 years put together. (It seems to be stemming from the "Updates" page as sometimes that page is just white & will not open, even though everything else opens & I have an internet connection.)Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. How do I store my itunes library on an external hard drive and access it on my macbook pro? I do not want to store my library on my macbook because it is a work computer and do not want to take up storage space there. I know it can be done because I had it that one on a previous laptop but I cannot remember how I did it and would really appreciate a quick step by step process. I do not mind if it seems elementary. Internet Explorer was initially affected. After the Ask.com search engine is removed that problem appears to have gone away.

Interestingly, yesterday afternoon the Chrome browner new tab no longer hijacked by Ask.com. The symptom was there in the morning and had gone away in the late afternoon. Nothing was done except a few days ago I blocked everything on that page. The problem with Firefox continue to persist I didn't do the same blocking on it. I am going to try the same and then use anti-spyware to clear away all cookies and see what happens. -
itunes has been splitting up most new cds that my daughter and I import. We want the albums to stay whole not split into 2 or 3 different sections. This is a relatively new problem. Didn't always have this problem. How do we make it stop?

Is there a simple way of linking the same excel folder on my imac and mac air, so as the one on my imac would automacily update when i return home, from the mac air? Fairly new to all this, so any help would be appreciated.
Open a Finder window and you should have a folder called iClouDrive in your home folder. Drag your documents or folders you want to share into this folder and it will be available on your other computer (look in the same folder).
As already mentioned Dropbox is a good solution; however, I like to use my free 5 GB from Apple's iCloud because I am not using very much space there. I reserve my Dropbox for other uses such as family photo and recipe sharing.
