I need an ultrabeat tip...

hi guys,
No matter how long is the note in the piano roll , the bassline has always the same length so
how can I control the length of a bassline (ultrabeat) using the piano roll ???
thanks for your help!

Yes, you're clear, which is why you'll have to adjust the Envelope settings of that particular bass sample, as already pointed out.
In Ultrabeat, select it, then look at the bottom right corner of UB, where you'll see Envelopes. Just set the decay levels, sustain levels and release levels to you desired values (just like in most Software Instruments). There are four different Envelopes, so verify (by examining the UB signal flow and parameter settings) which envelope affects what part of the sound. *Env 4* is called Amp, and determins how long and at what level the sound develops.

    I have a Macbook Pro 15" that is three and a half years old.  Although it has slowed a bit, it still runs well and runs every program I need. Any tips for how to keep this old computer running well and in good health?
    I have a 250 gig drive and try to keep at least 100 gigs unused at all times, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory, back up with Time Machine and CrashPlan, and have OS X 10.7.3.
    This was my first Mac since an old Apple II GS.  After that I used PC's and got really good at reformatting, replacing drives, reinstalling, defragging, resolving software conflicts, etc.  Since switching back to Macs (five in my extended family now), I haven't had to do any of those things. So, although, the cost is three times as much, the aggrevation has been ten times less.
    I'm retired and living on a fixed income and would therefore like to keep this computer running as opposed to constatntly upgrading.
    That said, any tips?
    Thanks
    It does have a crack on the left of the screen case about 3/4'' up from the bottom.  I've posted that as another question.

    Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
    For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior.  Versions 1.5.1 and later are Intel Mac compatible.
    OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
    OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
    I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
    For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
    When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
    Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    SuperDuper!
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
    Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
    Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
    Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
    Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
    Adding more RAM, if feasible, and a new, faster hard drive may also help pep it up a little.

    Hi,
      <a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2005/05/09/have-you-played-blindfold-chess's</a> how to create a dynamic table, though I think you have already done this.
      Do look at the comment that Armin Reichert has put in. Now in the source code that he has provided, the last line should be
    table.setOnLeadSelect(wdThis.wdGetLeadSelectAction());
    Have you done something similar to this?
    Have you set the initializeLeadSelect property of the datasource node to true?

  • Captivate 4.0 - Need best practice tips on panning, templates, resolution, etc.

    Hi all,
    Been searching all over in case someone has already published Best Practices for Captivate 4.0 (particularly the new/enhanced features), but coming up empty. My client's in house graphics person has been tasked with creating a template for us to use for a number of software simulations. He's running in to these challenges:
    - Our SWF needs to be 800 x 600 and he created the template for this size, but the app won't fit.
    - He's found the panning feature to produce very choppy, disappointing results. Tips?
    - His suggestion is we capture at 1024 x 768, then resize to 800 x 600, then copy/paste the slides into his 800 x 600 template. Would we be better off recreating the template at 1024 x 768 and not resizing until the final output is generated for each tutorial? His concern is that our template will then become larger, making it harder for us to send back and forth as changes are made, etc.
    Any other suggestions for how to deal with the resolution issue, how best to take advantage of templates, etc.?

    Hi there
    In my own opinion, Panning is a nice attempt, but just doesn't cut the mustard. It's nowhere near as good as the panning one sees with Camtasia Studio.
    I might suggest combining Camtasia with Captivate for the ultimate development set. There are aspects Captivate shines in when compared with Camtasia, and there are aspects Camtasia shines in when compared with Captivate. So I say if you can afford it, go for it!
    Now I know that both packages are sort of pricey and not everyone can afford both. In that case you might want to try Jing, which is free to use. I've not looked very deeply at it, but it may offer some of what Camtasia does. You could then use that for your panning and enhance Captivate that way.

  • E1200 new user- need some expert tips

    Hi guys, I just bought a new e1200 model a few hours ago to replace my old WRT54G version 3.0 , My house is not that big less than 400 sq meters and one floor only. In my old router, when I go to my garden, the internet speed is very slow and thats when I thought that I needed a new upgrade , so I got the e1200, would have wanted a more expensive version like the e2000 + models and higher but this is the only one available here in our city.
    The current location of my router is thesame as before , its near my monitor here in the table , are there any tips to like increase it's signal ?
    This is from support:
    Yes, and for you to optimize its N-functionality, you need to set your Network Mode to N-only, Channel Width to 40MHz and the Security Mode to WPA2 Personal. But you need to be sure that all of your devices' cards are using N.
    I have tried changing the channel to 6 , changing the network mode to n, or security mode to wpa2 personal caused some problems with my brothers laptop, so i had ot switch back to wpa personal only. What else do I need to tweak here ?
    (Mod Note: Edited for guideline compliance.)

    Well you can try the following combination of steps:
    A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
    1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
    2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
    3] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
    For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 1, 6, 9, 11..
    B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
    Secondly avoid using any other wireless devices like cordless phones, microwave oven etc nearer to the router. Update the drivers for the wireless card of the wireless computer. Then check the wireless connection status.

  • Need SQL tuning tips in oracle 10g.

    From time to time I come across some slow running queries used in SQR. I want to know the tuning technics in oracle 10g as I believe it is different now becasue of CBO.
    As I am not an oracle man to tune the query I can try if there are any guidelines. Also while optimizing a query what are the important things need to be considered:
    Do you want the first rows back quickly (typically during online processing) or is the total time for the query (typically a batch process) more important?
    Are the tables properly indexed to take advantage of the various operations available?
    How large are the tables? Joining smaller tables first is usually more efficient.
    How selective are the indexes? Indexes on fields that have only a few values don't really help.
    How is sorting done? Are sorting and grouping operations necessary?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • New to GB guitar recording - Need some noise tips

    Hello everyone,
    I've finally got my 20" iMac, and now of course, I wanna record some guitar. I have a Traynor YCV80 tube amp, and i've come out of its line out into the imac's line in. I've done all the preference settings in GB and in system prefs itself. I'm leaving the amp in standby in the clean channel, just using the preamp tubes to amplify the signal, keeping most nobs at 12 o'clock, trying to stay as dry as possible. The problem i'm having is the clean sound straight from the amp into GB w/o any amp sims or such sounds horrible. The clean channel distorts and when I try to use an amp sim, they either crap out or get really noisy and muddy. I've tried adjusting the volumes, so the lower I take some of them, the more the signal cleans up but then its too weak to hear or work with. Could someone help me find a balance for the 40 million sound level slider in GB and what I should do with the actual amp's EQ itself so I can get a nice clean, crisp sound so I can then work with the amp sims and start to lay down some tracks.

    I don't need amps anymore - just like
    to crank 'em up to bother the wife.
    The opposite being exactly why I've warmed up a lot to GBs software amp sims. I've no doubt that, for tone, nothing beats a mic'd up tube-driven stack moving plenty of air, but that's not really practical for me. Besides being able to tweak the amp settings in GB after the fact, I can record a roaring wall of guitar without more audible sound than a bit of plink and thwam from the strings. This means that my wife doesn't crucify me for cranking up amps at odd hours of the day or night
    I've got a Gibson LP Std loaded with Bare Knuckle pickups <http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/> which I run into my iBook via a Tascam US-122. That works very well; not too noisy as long as I stand back from the computer a bit (though if I engage the coil tapping, things get significantly noisier!). I have used a Sansamp GT-2 pedal for distortion with GB (still using GB's noise gate and reverb, but none of the amp sims), but I find get very plausible tones with the GB amp sims (especially if I tweak up my own settings). I wish Apple provided an easy way for users to export their presets so that they could be shared. I've got a few amp presets using the stock GB amp sims that I quite like, but I'm sure other users have ones at least as good and likely better! It'd be nice to swap these things around and try out different tones. I guess I can zip up .cst or .pst files and put them on my web site, but then the downloader has to be savvy about where to put them, etc., etc.
    I've looked at things like the PodXT and Vox Tonelab, but I like the "re-amping" capabilities of GB's amp sims. On the other hand, I've looked at things like the Nomad Rock Legends AU, but I worry about that overstressing my puir wee iBook's CPU (already quite stressed by GB on its own!).
    Cheers,
    Carl

  • Switching to Lightroom - Need Some Quick Tips

    Hi, I have been using Aperture for years and it looks like I will be using ACR or Lightroom because I'm having some issues that cannot seem to be resolved by Apple.
    I intend to get into in the manual and start the process asap, but I need two quick bits of information so I can keep my workflow going for now.
    1) I need to be able to sample a color and make adjustments to that color alone.  Similar to Hue/ Saturation in Photoshop where a narrow band can be isolated and saturation, luminance and hue can be adjusted etc. In Aperture it is the Color brick and I don't know where to find it in ACR or
    2) After using the brush tool, is there a way to blend or diffuse it?
    Thanks

    #1: the HSL panel allows per color hue, saturation and lightness adjustments
    #2: no, not directly, but after applying an adjustment brush, you can erase the mask by holding down the option key (Mac) to subtract from the mask. Done carefully, this allows you to fine tune the adjusted areas...

  • Need help/hints/tips with a method for connect 4 game.

    Hi!
    I'm currently trying to get my "movepiece"-method to make it so that players can only drag a piece into the empty square at the bottom row, and if the square is not empty the method will move up one row and check if it's empty if not, repeat until
     6 are checked if no one is empty then move is invalid.
    I've been trying out while loops and for loops but i think i might set the wrong conditions for exiting the loop...
    Here the code for the method without any loops simply adds pieces.
            /// <summary>
            /// Method that performs the actual move.
            /// The old piece gets overrun by the attacking piece.
            /// The attacking piece's position becomes null.
            /// </summary>public Piece[,] MoveAttackpiece(int[,] changearray)
    int origX = changearray[0, 0];
    int origY = changearray[0, 1];
    int targetX = changearray[1, 0];
    int targetY = changearray[1, 1];
    pieceArray[targetX, targetY] = pieceArray[origX, origY]; //swap
    return pieceArray;
    The game is using winforms and a 2D array(pieceArray)to draw the game board
    I'm using a Constants class for declaring the height and width of the board, which the pieceArray is based on, Namely const int BOARDESIZEx and BOARDERSIZEy.
    And while i'm at it when i did different loops for tryng to make the piece move down/up (based on if a square in bottom row was empty or not) the program crashes and i get the "Null Reference Exception unhandled"
    at this part in the game.CS (the earlier code reside in a class named Squares.cs)
    if (changearray != null)
    //Building string to print (split over several rows for readability but also to avoid calculations)
    Piece attackpiece = pieceArray[changearray[1, 0], changearray[1, 1]];
    string message = "";
    if (move % 2 == 1) message += "TURN " + move / 2 + ":\r\n"; //integer division, as there are two draws per turn
    message += attackpiece.Name + ": "; //Walker:
    message += IntegerToChar(changearray[0, 1]); //Walker: A
    message += (changearray[0, 0] + 1) + " - "; //Walker A1 -
    message += IntegerToChar(changearray[1, 1]); //Walker A1 - B
    message += (changearray[1, 0] + 1); //Walker A1 - B2
    if (move % 2 == 0) message += "\r\n"; //blank row inserted after each completed turn
    Board.PrintMove(message);
    I've tried making
    While(piecearray[targetX, targetY]!=null)
    pieceArray[targetX, targetY]==pieceArray[targetX, targetY +1];
    return array;
    but that didn't work and i don't really know how to make the game start at bottom row.
    I appreciate any help or tips on how to get this to work since it's the only thing left for making the game work as intended.
    Cheers and thanks for reading.
    PS: if there's anything you wonder just ask and i'll explain as much as i can.
    Regards Gabbelino
    Student at the University of Borås, Sweden

    Let's look at what's wrong with the following code.
    While(piecearray[targetX, targetY]!=null)
    pieceArray[targetX, targetY]=pieceArray[targetX, targetY +1]; // I assume the "==" in your post above was a typo.
    Suppose, for the sake of argument, that targetX is 2 and targetY is 3, and that pieceArray[2,3] is not null. The line inside the loop will then become...
    pieceArray[2,3] = pieceArray[2, 4];
    ...and this line will keep being executed as long as pieceArray[2,3] is not null, which if pieceArray[2,4] is not null will be forever (infinite loop).
    I suspect that your loop should look something like this...
    for(int i = 0; i < BOARDSIZEy; i++)
    // Look for the first available square in the target column.
    // When found, set the piece on that square then break out.
    if(pieceArray[targetX, i] == null)
    pieceArray[targetX, i] = pieceArray[origX, origY];
    break;

  • Need a code tip

    Would some one kindly tell me what the code is to make the
    rollover work when the button is embedded in a movie clip.
    isnt there a ".root?" something that goes in front of the
    directive?
    In other words, the rollover has to reach out into scene one
    to have its effect.

    Thank you. Let me try to clarify. Then you can tell me again
    if what you said is correct cuz it did not work. The buttons/nav
    bar are now a movie clip. Before they were a clip, "go to and stop
    (frame label) would work, very simple. After making this a movie
    clip, I now have to tell the rollover to go out of the movie clip
    into the main timeline and find the frame label. So How to do that?
    It sounds backwords to name the movie clip and go into that
    to find the frame label. It's when I am in the movie clip I want to
    go out and find the frame label in the main timeline.
    Thank you

  • Need Help with Sony Hybrid replacement tips

    Hey all,
    First post here, so please excuse me if I've posted in the wrong section. Earlier this month I ordered myself the Sony Hybrid EPEX10A/BLK Replacement Earbuds from Amazon.com. While attempting to get a large tip on my Sennheiser CX500s, the colored part broke. I now only have one large tip, which is currently fitting the CX500 just fine. I really need another large tip, and I don't know what to do. I thought the best option would be to contact Sony Support and ask for a replacement (I'm assuming my warranty is still in effect, don't know anything), but I don't know how. I went to this (http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/contact-land.pl) website and selected technical support, and since I couldn't find my product in the list, I typed in what I thought was the model number, and it came up with no results. I have no idea where the model number is on the packaging (which I still have).
    Can somebody please help me get a replacement? Other than the broken tip, these are the best tips I have had , and I would really like to continue using them.
    Thanks for the help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Contact the Sony Parts and Accessories team - they have a different number to Sony Technical Support and should be able to locate the correct part for you - details on the following link:

  • [SOLVED] Need Some Tips on Solid State Drive

    Hello everyone. I need a few tips on my solid state drive, to make sure I have everything configured correctly, and if there is anything I should change. I followed the Wiki, and took a lot of time to make it as perfect as I can, but I guess I need a little sanity check.
    First, I followed the Wiki to align my SSD. Here is the output of fdisk -lu:
    Disk /dev/sda: 256.1 GB, 256060514304 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 31130 cylinders, total 500118192 sectors
    Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x000d46a6
    Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sda1 2048 206847 102400 83 Linux
    /dev/sda2 206848 21178367 10485760 82 Linux swap / Solaris
    /dev/sda3 21178368 63121407 20971520 83 Linux
    /dev/sda4 63121408 500117503 218498048 83 Linux
    Is that aligned properly? I've heard that all you have to do is make the first partition start on cylinder 2048 but just want to be sure.
    Second, I read in the Wiki to make /tmp mounted in RAM. Here is my fstab:
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    /dev/sda1 /boot ext2 defaults 0 1
    /dev/sda2 swap swap defaults 0 0
    /dev/sda3 / ext4 defaults,noatime,discard 0 1
    /dev/sda4 /home ext4 defaults,noatime,discard,user_xattr 0 1
    none /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noatime,size=1000M,mode=1777 0 0
    Does that look good, and/or should I add anything else to it?

    Thank you for the response. I'll go ahead and mark this solved. I just needed a sanity check, and if you think it's fine, then I'm happy.
    But if anyone has any other tips/tweaks, feel free to share them, as I'm making a new Clonezilla image on this laptop and wouldn't mind tweaking it a bit.

  • I am Making the Switch: Vaio to Macbook... What do I need to Know?

    So I am moving over to a mac
    My vaio has been a great machine, but i dropped it last week, so the data is being pulled right now and I have been looking for a replacement.
    I decided on the 15" Macbook Pro...
    250GB
    4 GB RAM
    2.6GHZ INTEL duo
    so i need a few tips ...
    like what software will i need to get?
    Should I get "parallel" so i can run XP?
    What about the data from my vaio? the tech says he still pulling it from a week ago since there are a lot of "damaged sectors"
    oh - and is there a way to run HDMI from a mac to my plasma when i download movies?
    and what kind of virus software should i run on a mac, espcially since i will also install XP so i can operate windows programs ...
    so please talk to me like im 5 and tell me if this software (below) is standard on a Macbook or if these are added perks
    1. Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard
    a. Time Machine
    b. Quick Look
    c. Spaces
    d. Spotlight
    e. Dashboard
    f. Mail
    g. iChat
    h. Safari
    i. Address Book
    j. QuickTime
    k. iCal
    l. DVD Player
    m. Photo Booth
    n. Front Row
    o. Xcode Developer Tools
    2. iLife '09
    a. iTunes
    b. iPhoto
    c. iMovie
    d. iDVD
    e. iWeb
    f. GarageBand

    With the one exception that your computer will come with OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) rather than 10.5 Leopard, all of the software you mention comes with the Mac.
    As far as virus protection is concerned, on the Windows side, especially if operating under Boot Camp, you should run whatever you would normally choose for Windows. On the Mac side virus checkers generally cause more trouble (a fair bit) than they are worth (next to nothing), but if you feel you really need it then ClamX is the least problematic and cheapest (its free) option.
    Yes you can run movies on your HDMI TV from the MBP. You will need either a Mini Display port to DVI adaptor and a DVI to HDMI cable, a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapator and an HDMI to HDMI cable, together with an appropriate sound cable from the headphone socket to a sound input on the TV OR one of the new "combined" cables, like the one at http://kanexlive.com/products/item.aspx?id=3495 which includes all the necessary connections in one .
    Cheers
