I need another way to access my songs.

After an itunes update last spring I was never able to get itunes to work on my PC again. Now I'm having issues on my laptop after an itunes update this week. I will need to un-install itunes from the laptop to troubleshoot the issues. Where can I store the songs I have purchased so I can access them again if itunes won't re-install on the laptop. Everything else works on the PC and laptop, so I'm not going to buy another computer just to access itunes.

Notes:
Songs you purchased from the iTunes Store or imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes.
You may need to remove and reinstall iTunes several times while following the steps of this article. Even if you've removed iTunes and its components before, it's important to do so again now that you've emptied the Temp directory.

I need another way of increasing/decreasing the volume in OS X.

Long story short: The F11 and F12 volume keys on my Apple keyboard change the volume in too large of steps. There's a key combination for tiny increments, but come on... Do I really want to use two hands to press three keys just to turn up the sound a bit?
F12 turns the sound up in big increments.
ShiftOptionF12 turns the sound up in tiny increments.
My thought was to use the function keys as standard function keys (keyboard prefs option) and then use hotkey software to make F12 trigger fnShift+OptionF12. That failed because, apparently, it's impossible to create a hotkey macro that includes using the fn key. Garr!
This made me realize there must be another way to create a hotkey that turns the volume up just a little. I've tried using an applescript, but applescripts and hotkeys are apparently buggy (click the key too quickly or too lightly and you can get a loop where the Applescript executes a billion times because it thinks the key is being held down... which means the volume won't stop rapidly turning up!!!) Keyboard Maestro and Spark both seem to have this problem.

I'm trying to find creative ways to create an F12 hotkey that turns the volume up a little. And then, obviously, I'll do the same thing with F11 to turn the volume down a little.
How many ways are there to turn the volume up in small increments?

I already own an Apogee Duet, which, among other things, serves as an amazing volume knob, but since my hands are on the keyboard already typing, I'm hoping to fix the volume keys that turn up/down too quickly unless I use two hands and three keys. No thanks.

What happened to "recently purchased" ? I need a way to find the songs i recently bought so that i may add them to a playlist

since i have a terrible memory, i really found it useful to use the "recently purchased" file in itunes to go back a few days later to add those songs to a playlist. what am i missing?

In the menu bar, go to file, add smart playlist. It should open a window to customize the playlist. I think you want to set it to date added.

Alternative ways to listen to songs on E73

Hello, I am trying to figure out a different way to listen to songs on my E73 because the player that comes on the phone does not allow you to fast forward, this is especially frustrating when listening to a podcast and accidentally bump the wrong button which makes the podcast start over...
is there a way to fast forward that I dont know about, or another way to listen to songs & podcasts?

Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.

That's a bummer, didn't realize the exHD files were corrupt, esp if you have tried from another PC and not just this new computer.

Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode. In this case, all data on it is gone. There's nothing to back up.

The changes have brought improvements but also drawbacks compared with the old slideshow editor.
The templates are now fairly fixed but I find the “Classic Dark” gives reasonable results with some panning and you can click the audio button and browse you PC for any track. Unfortunately there are only three speed choices linked to the music track. The improvement for most people is that you can now export to your hard drive at 720p or 1080p and upload to sites like YouTube and Vimeo.
