Please don't keep posting the same question in multiple topics.
Before you even consider overclocking, you should ensure your system is stable at stock settings. Also you'd be foolish to attempt a BIOS update on an unstable system.
Please read the >>Posting Guide<<, describe your problem in detail, and then we can help you better.

  • MSI K72N Delta LSR - windows XP keeps stop codes and serious errors Puzzled why

    hi,
       System specs
    AMD sempron 2400
    512mb DDR PC3200 ( 2 x 256nb Matrix module brand memory written on chips )
MSI K7N2 Delta LSR ( lastest Bios )
    Onboard sound - Enabled
    Onboard lan - Disabled
    Liteon DVD Rom
    CD-RW 52x
ATI Radeon 9550 ( installed at moment )
before was a Nvidia FX5700 LE took back faulty as tried radeon 9800 pro and was ok for a couple hours
got Nvidia FX 5500 - faulty fan making noise on boot.
Ive built a System up and its been running fine for a few months and then 1 day system crashed and got windows recovered from serious error and and wound't shut down but only restart.
Replaced memory that was in and checked with mem99 and said it was faults so replaced memory and shutdown problem vanished.
Few days later windows xp started saying recovered from serious error again with stop codes
    0x0000050
    Bccode 10000050
    Bccode 1000008e
    Bccode 1000000a
    Stop Code D1
They was the stop codes been getting since, some said Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area, IRQL_not_less or Equal
Im puzzled what the problem can be know, even tried reformatting and reinstalling windows twice and not solved it, tried a another cdrom drive and still same.
Im puzzled what the problem can be.

Temps are fine running about 45'c in windows and max about 52'c when in full load ive got motherboard monitor on all time monitering temps and also recording and save out log file when turned off for temps.
Its a retail boxed AMD Sempron which i dont think much to the stock heatsink and fan ( Athlon 64bit ones are loads better copper base and heat compound instead of sticky pad )
The new memory is only think is got whats wrote on the memory modules is called Matrix, I know from past experience's when u reinstall windows and files cant copy across ok and keeps saying cant read file etc or cant copy file during installation thats indication bad memory strip, ive even got a memory thats fault ( i only use for testing and diagnostic ) as 1 of the memory modules comes up fault in memtest96 and even tried that and still same, thats how i found out in first place memory was causing system not to shutdown properly.
What i can try is my memory as ive got 1.5gig in Elixir branded and i know thats ok 100% with nforce 2 boards as i had a MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR and ran elixir memory with np, before i got a Gigabyte KT880 board.
Antivirus ive got running on system at the moment is AVG and always used it all time, it dont use any cpu usage and also saved my system loads from virus as it caught them as they tried to run and stop them, something norton's dont seem to do very well.
I give modem a try on a USB hub but its strange when u unplug USB its ok and NTL recommends when modem stops working to unplug power from back modem and leave it a while and it comes back on, done this in past successfully but this time its blue screening, Which could be part of windows main files are corrupted. The USB Modem is running of its own PSU so shound't be using USB power at all, if it was that explain blue screen when taking power off as it do it when taking usb out.
Error codes ive watched a Microsoft web broadcast ( over a hour long ) about error codes and 40% of them are software + hardware related combined they make it sound so easy to diagnose them but in reality unless u know windows 100% its hard to.
Harddrive seems to copy files ok across and back, i have to try another Harddrive and see but from past experiences when Harddrives are about to fail windows seems to stall, lockup and also just stop responding when accessing certain programs or files.
Its a confusing 1 as u solve 1 piece of puzzle another comes up and throws u off track again.
Looking that all parts ive replaced so far have solved 1 or another problem to only reveal another hidden, PC's who have them lol
If i solve it i post my finding np it keep me busy for a couple days testing things, u learn something new every day with pc's new faults and problems and how to solve them, try too lol
And most of time its compatibility problems but odd times hardware or software.

i have tried anything i red in this forum (clear cmos... safe mode jumper...strip all parts...)
    all i get is :
blank black display, no beeps and keyboard lights flashes over and over (when connected to a KVM hub), when conected directly to keboard the lights flashes only once but stil black display and no beeps (i hear on speake, when powering up PSU, a silent short noise, no beep).
power suply turns on (new one 500w), i tried agp video card and replaced with pci video card.
memory is kingstone 512mb pc3200 400MHz x2, i tried only one of them and both in diferent sockets.

i did succed to go into bios only once, after lots of resets and shutdowns and bios clear (after ouers)
i choosed in the bios: load bios defaults, and thats it. i hoped it starts up but nothing.
i did all testing i know (checked all pins, cables, clear cmos...all, you name it)
all parts are brand new (except motherbord. it's seconds hand from eBay. i've bean talled that it works fine)
i also e-mailed MSI support that question. (2 days ago. no answer yet)

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR MB Problems, Need Help ASAP!! PLEASE

Ok  I just got this motherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta) Yesterday and after getting it setup I began overclocking the Processor (an AMD Athlon XP Barton Mobile 2500+) I was at 11x 215 1.750V Perfectly. I moved to 216 it started to seem unstable so I pushed the VCORE up to 1.775 and tried 217. It couldn't boot so I dropped it back down and decided ok 208 and a 11.5 multi might get me past the 2.4 mark which I was looking for. Well when I changed the Multi. to 11.5 and said save the system just sate as the flashing y for save. I could not change it to n I had already pushed enter So i firgured great and left it alone for a few minutes, nothing so I reset it. Now it refuses to boot/post. It spinds the fans the HD's the Network port is going but I get no picture. I have cleared the CMOS using the jumper I have removed the battery and power for over an hour and I still get nothing. I am assuming this is a BIOS error but I am not sure what to do to fix it. Does anyone here kno maybe, something I have yet to try something I can do? I would hate to RMA it and have to wait on newegg. Hell the thing is a day old. So please any idea's are welcome I have this posted on the Hard Forums as well but I am hopinh this forum may be more popular with getting help as no one is helping over there. Thanks!

    Hi,
Cross: Just in case you are doing something wrong there's a clear CMOS guide here, follow it to the letter (and don't forget to put the FSB jumper to SAFE beforehand - there's a note about it in the guide).
    How To Clear the CMOS
Your system board or CPU maybe not be dead yet - I had a similar problem with one of my boards and I tried everything - to cut a long story short I eventually got it working!!!
Btw, If you can't boot or get into the BIOS put your other CPU in (clear BIOS again after fitting!), so that you can prove whether your motherboard is working correctly!
Good luck!   I'm off ta bed!

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR Nforce2 (Socket A) Motherboard (MB-003-MS) Features NF2 chip

I tried to install 3 of the Crucial Ballistix Tracer (1 Gig Each) in this motherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR Nforce2 (Socket A) Motherboard (MB-003-MS) Features NF2 chipset) and it will not run stabilly no matter what I tried. Is this a bios conflict with the memory? If so, are there any new bios updates? I have tried cas settings and voltage settings but nothing works. It will how ever run perfectly with only 2 sticks in single channel mode. It will not run same 2 sticks in dual channel mode. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone know of any new motherboards with maybe NFORCE 4 Chipset that support all 3 sticks of this memory and an AGP graphics card? Im thinking of a new motherboard but I still need to have AGP and SATA.
    Barton 3200 core proc.
System has ran fine for a solid year until I tried new memory. Please help!

Ok I tried to use relaxed FSB by -10 and relaxed mem timings but still unstable due to the motherboard trying to use dual channel memory. If you can modify the bios to where it will not have the capability of dual channel memory I truly believe it will work. Will u try this for me? I would greatly appreciate it as I am really not ready to spend all the money on new equipemtn when this suits my needs for now.
sure but as i said before this is gona be experimental and risky. Here we go:
MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Experimental MOD E1(Disable Dual CH ability)
Procedure is automated in best possible safest way to BIOS update.
Prepare a blank diskette in a good condition(newest one etc.)
]execute file under XP will make bootdisk with automated BIOS update procedure. when diskette is ready, reboot PC and boot from FDD(floppy), wait a bit, then you will be asked for final confirmation about BIOS update process, press a key to proceed, after BIOS update is complete, ensure that you got successfully output message from flash program. then power down your PC, remove power cord from the PSU, hit power button several time to drain caps electrify, touch with hands some metal for ES discharge, and Clear CMOS.
pull back power cord, power up your PC, when you see CMOS checksum error,(expected msg) hit F1 to continue to re-build DMI pool data, then reboot and enter in BIOS, LOAD BIOS DEFAULT, and SAFE AND EXIT.
NOTE: Ensure your PC is stable before proceed with BIOS update.
NOTE: Use it at own risk, chance of failure is big, cannot guarantee results and safest as provisional mode which can guarantee it will work stable with features. also cannot test it personally before give you. (don't have mobo anymore)
Using it may end with dead mainboard (BIOS chip re-flash will be required, if somethink goes wrong)

I installed 6 operating systems on my pc (WinXp Home Edition Turkish/English,WinXP Pro Turkish/English,Win98 Turkish/English) and tested it, but every time i meet the same thing (MS Blue Screen Of Death Sux...).I checked the WinXP`s logs and searched for error code`s meaning from microsoft knowledge database. They are saying nothing about this problem but the problem`s root is coming from a bad device driver. It seems to be a generic problem for all operating systems cuz all of them were restarting themselves randomly, before i close "auto-restart on critical errors" option. After i saw some messages on forums , i searched for my RAM maker`s home page then i learned that my RAM is assembled with VIA KT Series and SIS chips & optimized for them. I think nForce is too picky about rams. But i aint sure about where the hell is this problem coming from. If you guys are sure about that is an unsupported ram problem and knew the list of ram marks&models that supported by MSI K7N2 Delta -L ,please help me about this damn problem. Thanks for your help.
Note : I tried Asus Ati Radeon 9200SE 64mb g.adapter (some peoples told me thats about g.adapter), but problem continued.

If I read correctly in your specs I see only 11 Amps on the +12v Rail. Is this correct?
If so, I'd advise a PSU that has at least 18 amps on the +12v Rail, perhaps as low as 16 with the other rails to match as shown currently in your spec.
11 Amps is just way too underpowered for that rig. I am surprised it even boots.
At what point does the BSOD occur?

  • Msi k7n2 delta vs GIGABYTE nFORCE2 CHIPSET ULTRA400/8XAGP

Is the MSI k7n2 delta a better board the GIGABYTE nFORCE2 CHIPSET ULTRA400/8XAGP
So far i have personally tested the msi k7n2 delta and have had nothing but trouble out of it first i overclocked the amd 3200 and it ran stable and just fine but the odd thing is when i went to restart the computer some time the bio would not beep.  so i shut it down and put a volcano 11 on the cpu and not it will not do anything at all
the tried to reset cmos no luck noved the jumper to safe mode no luck and even  moved the 133/166 jumper and still nothing
MSI the device you gave me for problem shooting said processor damaged or not put in correct
Tested processor on another computer works just fine
Tested Geil ram pc3200 256 works fine
So i believe the board is shoot
I need to know what to do to fix it if anybody can help or if i should get the GIGABYTE nFORCE2 CHIPSET ULTRA400/8XAGP
    thank you

It was designed and optimized to work at this speed.
In fact its real speed is 2.2G and its performance is comparable with the P4 3.2G (you know the story).
AthlonXP3000+ real speed is 2.15G. This chip has two versions, FSB333 and FSB400.
I know what it is  :D
What Im saying is he is having troubles booting because he overclocked it, the 3200+ isnt a good overclocker to begin with, Im not saying its something less and it was overclocked, he did the overclock himself and he may have pushed it too far since it isnt a good overclocker...

  • K7n2 delta lsr + 3000XP prob

    i just bought:
    msi kt7n2 delta lsr
    512 pc2900
    3000XP
    450w power supply
    winXP
i cannot run the processr at 166mhz otherwise windows either brings up the error send report where it closses the application OR windows just restarts without warning.
my brother just bought the same set up aswell (he had his for crimbo) and hes got the same prob, except when he turns the speed to 166mhz, when windows goes to start he gets a BSOD, so i figure no biggy, just repair windows, as i go to do this before the installation or any questons are asked, he gets yet another BSOD and this happens everytime.
ive been ****ing round with bios options for a while but i aint very good at that ****.
and im running a ti4800 nVidia
i dont know wether to upgrade the bios because
A: i have never upgraded a bios before
    and
B: if i were to take the board back hed probaly blame it on me for pratting around with it
so, what you guys reckon, i noticed in one of the topics that 400mhz ram would be needed for a 3000XP upgrade ?

The problems your having can be caused by power supply, memory compatiblitly and a few outer things.
List your power supply amps for 3.3 volt, 5 volt and 12 volt.
The ram is PC2700 it is 333 FSB ram your processor is a 400 FSB processor.
So you have created one problem there. Try running ram as single channel to see if it helps with stablity. Set ram speed to 333 FSB.
Or better yet buy some ram that is on the list of compatible ram 2-256 of PC3200 DDR is plenty of ram for games and programs and will keep price down.
Memory that is matched for Dual Channel will also help.
The newest Bios for the K7N2 Delta ILSR is 7.6 it may help with some ram problems but will not fix the FSB difference.

    It's is like this:
A and B are connected to the primary IDE-slot. A will boot when set as Master and B wont start booting when set as Slave mode (i mean, it wont show/appear in the first hardware (detection) bootscreen of yer BIOS where it says its present or the so called POST-screen), but if I set B as Master only (A turned off) it will boot.
What also happens is if I disconnect the power of drive B..drive A will boot..and while OS is loaded...I turn on the powercable from drive B and reboot..suddenly out of the blue it detects both HD's and reboots like it should do normally...but when i reboot from than..the same thing happens again..(it wont recognize B anymore)
Sumtime it regonizes both drives and sumtime it just won't and sumtimes just 1 drive..
Another thing, when it won't recognize one or sumtime both drives...the POST-screen gets stuck at the name and version of the BIOS...and where it says: 'detecting IDE drives...'  when it is at this stage..and I press  on the DEL-key for example..it's loading damn too slow..I've to wait about 10min before it enters the BIOS-setup..
I am 100% sure I set the jumper correctly for Master or Slave mode on my HD..I know there's sumthing wrong..but don't know where...Ive changed the jumper with a new one  ..switched IDE-cables...switched HD's (set B as Master and A as Slave and vice versa, knowing there is no active partition on B..but only to check if it recognizes the drive)..in all cases..the BIOS settings are set as default!
any1 can help me out with this?
It worked smoothly on my system till i noticed my second MEM bank of my mobo broke (Asus A7N8X-E)..so i had to change it quickly (and went to the store with my warranty to fix this board..it was only 3 months old) ..since I've seen/had enough Asus mobo's in my life I went this time for an MSI which looks better in my opinion...so now i have an MSI K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum..it works fine...except that HD issue mentioned above
any help would be appreciated..thnx in advance!
    cheers!

    Hi,
I've done that already several times...it doesnt work..any other suggestions?
Now I can boot normally when I disconnect the power of the 2nd HD (or just any HD)...when the os is loaded...I turn back on the power of the 2nd drive and reboot...than it will run/boot/restart etc..normally...this is the only workaround I have at the moment...this only works when the system is turned a long time...
My power supply is 400W..so I don't think Ive any prob with that
    cheers

  • How to reduce from 5º to 8ºC CPU Temp on your MSI K7N2 Delta!

I've installed this tweak last week and it is working very stable since then. It decreased my Idle CPU Temp from 42º to 36º and Overload from 54º to 48º:
    Just go: http://forums.pcper.com/showindex.php?t=280137
    AMD ATHLON XP 2600+ 12.5x333mhz 1.65V ~OC 11.5x400mhz 1.55V
    Thermaltake Volcano 9
    MSI K7N2 Delta L
    MSI GF4 4200-8X graphics Card
    160GB Maxtor HDD 7200rpm
    768MB Samsung DDR3200
    LG 48x24x48x/16x CDROM/DVD Reader
Dual Fan 450W Troni Power Suppy

It seems that the link to the tweak is broken, I've found another one:
    http://ftp://ftp.vector.co.jp/pack/win95/hardware/other/wpcre14.exe
This is what the article say:
Just tried it for the first time..It works GREAT
My idle temps are now 26c, down from 34c. That's 8C. I can have Winamp, IE and messenger running and CPU temps don't get by 29c.  Once i fire up, SETI though...I get back my regular Load temps at 39c.
Some of you probably know about it, already....here's for thousand others that don't.
This tweak can drop your idle CPU temps down as much as 8c, maybe more...depending on your system.
First thing you need to do is download WPCRSET & WPCREDIT.
    They're both in this zip.
    - Extract to a directory.
    - Run "INSTDD.EXE". Click Install. When done, you will be prompted for restart. Hit Yes! -
    - Then go back to the folder with extracted files, and open "WPCREDIT.EXE"
    - A ms-dos like window will pop-up. Move the blinking block (with arrow keys or your mouse pointer) until it says Offset 6F at the buttom. Now, click on the two digit number where it says "HEX", and change it to 1F (The Hex for Offset 6F would have previously been 9F, 8F or something else). Hit Set.
Your idle temps should now start falling.
You would have to do this hack/tweak everytime you rebooted your computer if it wasn't for WPCRSET.
    - Go to directory and run "WPCRSET.EXE"
    - Look at the top of the window: Enable select "Start" and make sure Device is on "enable"
    - Then click Add. Enter 6F for the register, and 1F for the data
    - Click Ok and you'll be prompted to restart.
Once, you rebooted, open WCREDIT again and see if the 6F register is still on 1F. If it is, then that's it..You're all done.
Here's a Screenie of how it should be:
This only brings your idle temps down, and not your full load temps
It should work for all nforce2s, and use at your own risk
Check your nf7-s for CPU Disconnect. Most other nforce2 motherboards do not have this feature in the bios...so this tweak might prove useful.
READ THE WHOLE THREAD BEFORE TRYING THIS!
If you run a Distributed Computing project...then obviously this would be of no use to you

It activates the C1 (and maybe the C2) function Athlon XP CPU's support. Most mainboard brands have this feature as an option in the bios you can enable and disable. I just found out that EPoX doesn't have that feature. So what you're doing is just using a direct reg tweak to activate it. It's not like you're forcing anything, the Athlon XP chips are made to support this feature so it shouldn't do any damage.
When the CPU is idle the mainboard will send a command to the CPU that will cause a part of the CPU to be deactivated (and therefore not produce any heat). That's why this tweak only works on the idle temp and doesn't change anything on the load temp. Ofcourse as soon as the CPU power is needed the deactivated part will become active again, so it should have any influence on the performance of the CPU.
Strangely, my full load temp has decreased 6º C degrees too.

    MSI K7N2 DELTA Motherboard

    Hi
Yes, you can overclock the processor and ram but the best combination is running the ram at the same speed as the processor.
Go into the profile section at the top of the page and list all of your system info like I have mine listed.
