I need computer help....

Is my Sony Vaio i5 2.50GHz with 6gb RAM not enough anymore? I am having major lock up, freezing and PS complete shutdown issues. I am working with 32 and 16 bit files creating composites with 15+ layers. I cannot afford this much down time. I've run all of the scans and defrag programs possible. Is it time to invest in something better? I suck at computer specs and what is needed and what is used. I would appreciate any advice/help given. Thank you.

I didn't even know they did 6 gigs. Is that using the expansion slot? If not, I'd add in as much as you can.
I have a Vaio i5-2410 @ 2.3GHz with 8 gB ram (I got the 4 gB and then put in another 4 myself). It gets bogged down with intensive operations on large files, and I only do 16 bit, I'm sure 32 is going to give it trouble. But I've done plenty of work compositing multiple RAW images from a 20 mP camera with dozens of adjustment layers. But I'm also usually just about maxed out of Ram, with Photoshop, Lightroom, and DxO. I've also had plenty of crashes. So much so I ended up building a PC, but that's another story.
A couple issues I've had with my Vaio:
The AMD GPU doesn't play nice with PS. That's what crashes it. Sometimes it's worse than others, but it definitely "flares up" at times and even the simplest of operations will crash it. I've tried all kinds of updates, and rolling back drivers and whatnot. None of it works. Turning off graphics acceleration might of helped, or it might have been placebo. My main solution is to save often and completely close and reopen PS in-between major projects.
There absolutely is an issue where PS doesn't clear out the ram when I close a big document (I frequently work on projects in the 2 - 3 gB range). I also did a lot of research on that, and many swear that it's how it's supposed to function, but mine gets so bogged down it can't even open a small photo. It doesn't do it consistently, but when it does it's obvious that something is wrong. My solution is to simply close and reopen PS.
All Windows computers, in my experience, slow down after a few years. Task and registry cleaners only work so much (and are supposed to be unnecessary in Windows 7). People attribute it to the computer being old, but if you simply (ok not simply) wipe your drive and reinstall Windows and your programs it suddenly works like new again. I had to do this to my Vaio a month ago after my hard drive crashed. I also upgraded to an SSD. It was a pain in the ***, and took a whole night of loading programs and tweaking things back to how I had it, but it runs better than it ever has. Knock on wood - Photoshop has been running a lot better too.

I need urgent help! I may have accidentally deleted everything on my friends computer!

Okay so my friend asked me to watch his house while he was away. He told me that I was welcome to use his computer or anything else in there. I went to log on to his iMac, but all the accounts were locked! So I searched for a way to get in (with my phone, online) and I found a process with the following steps:
1. Reboot
2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
* mount -uw /
* rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
* shutdown -h now
4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!
I did not plan on deleting the old one, I just wanted to create a new one. But after following these steps the computer went into setup mode as if it was just being started for the first time out of the box! Please, I really need your help because e has important files on the computer that he did not back up anywhere and I hope I didn't delete everything! He is upset with me already, but said we would be alright if I found a way to fix it. I really need your help, please answer as fast as possible!!

If you are saying that after signing into iCloud it is telling you device is not found, it could be for any number of reasons. If the battery is dead, if the SIM has been removed, or if someone else has the phone and they have restored it, it will not be shown. Also, if you located it once and then sent a remote wipe, it disables the abililty to locate the phone with Find My iPhone.

Hi, I need some help with the following:
My page 3 is a form thats shows, among other things, a document ID (:P3_DOC_ID). Next to this item I have created a button that calls a document selection form (page 10).
On selection this forms sets 2 items:
P10_SELECTED (Y or N)
P10_DOC_ID (the selected documents ID value)
When the user selects a document he returns to the calling form.
On page 3 I now try to capture the selected values. For a test item I managed to do this by defining this items source as:

You might want to check if the "Source Used" attribute for P3_DOC_ID is set to always or to "only when ..." it sounds like you need it set to "only when ..."
If that does not work try this
Place the following in a pl/sql anonymous block and turn off your
computation.

I have a new Ipod touch gen 5. It shows up under my computer but not under devices in the side bar like it should with Itunes 11. I'm running the latest firmware for my new Itouch and the latest Itunes. I hope I don't have to uninstall my itunes as I have ALOT of music on it. I dont wanna lose it all. I'm running windows 8 and followed the tutorial to a "T" to try to fix the problem but nothing worked. I did everything except the last step. Try moving the existing backup file to a safe location so that iTunes has to create an entire new file. The backup file is located here. You can delete that backup once you get a successfull backup.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.

I need your help with a decision to use iPhoto. I have been a PC user since the mid 1980’s and more recently have used ACDSee to manage my photo images and Photoshop to edit them. I have used ProShow Gold to create slideshows. I am comfortable with my own folder and file naming conventions. I currently have over 23,000 images of which around 60% are scans going back 75 years. Since I keep a copy of the originals, the storage requirements for over 46,000 images is huge. 180GB plus.
I now have a Macbook Pro and will add an iMac when the new models arrive. For my photos, I want to stay with Photoshop which also gives me the Bridge. The only obvious reason to use iPhoto is to take advantage of Faces and the link to iMovie to make slideshows. What am I missing and is using iPhoto worth the effort?
If I choose to use iPhoto, I am not certain whether I need to load the originals and the edited versions. I suspect that just the latter is sufficient. If I set PhotoShop as my external editor, I presume that iPhoto will keep track of all changes moving forward. However, over 23,000 images in iPhoto makes me twitchy and they are appear hidden within iPhoto. In the past, I have experienced syncing problems with, and database errors in, large databases. If I break up the images into a number of projects, I loose the value of Faces reaching back over time.
Some guidance and insight would be appreciated. I have a number of Faces questions which I will save for later.

Bridge and Photoshop is a common file-based management system. (Not sure why you'd have used ACDSEE as well as Bridge.) In any event, it's on the way out. You won't be using it in 5 years time.
Up to this the lack of processing power on your computer left no choice but to organise this way. But file based organisation is as sensible as organising a Shoe Warehouse based on the colour of the boxes. It's also ultimately data-destructive.
Modern systems are Database driven. Files are managed, Images imported, virtual versions, lossless processing and unlimited editing are the way forward.
For a Photographer Photoshop is overkill. It's an enormously powerful app, a staple of the Graphic Designers' trade. A Photographer uses maybe 15% to 20% of its capability.
Apps like iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture are the way forward - for photographers. There's the 20% of Photoshop that shooters actually use, coupled with management and lossless processing. Pop over to the Aperture or Lightroom forums (on the Adobe site) and one comment shows up over and over again... "Since I started using Aperture/ Lightroom I hardly ever use Photoshop any more..." and if there is a job that these apps can do, then the (much) cheaper Elements will do it.
The change is not easy though, especially if you have a long-standing and well thought out filing system of your own. The first thing I would strongly advise is that you experiment before making any decisions. So I would create a Library, import 300 or 400 shots and play. You might as well do this in iPhoto to begin with - though if you’re a serious hobbyist or a Pro then you'll find yourself looking further afield pretty soon. iPhoto is good for the family snapper, taking shots at birthdays and sharing them with friends and family.
Next: If you're going to successfully use these apps you need to make a leap: Your files are not your Photos.
The illustration I use is as follows: In my iTunes Library I have a file called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles.mp3'. So what is that, exactly? It's not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. They wrote a tune and lyrics. They recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in the mp3 file. So the file is just a container for the recording. That container is designed in a specific way attuned to the characteristics and requirements of the data. Hence, mp3.
Similarly, that Jpeg is not your photo, it's a container designed to hold that kind of data. iPhoto is all about the data and not about the container. So, regardless of where you choose to store the file, iPhoto will manage the photo, edit the photo, add metadata to the Photo but never touch the file. If you choose to export - unless you specifically choose to export the original - iPhoto will export the Photo into a new container - a new file containing the photo.
When you process an image in iPhoto the file is never touched, instead your decisions are recorded in the database. When you view the image then the Master is presented with these decisions applied to it. That's why it's lossless. You can also have multiple versions and waste no disk space because they are all just listings in the database.
These apps replace the Finder (File Browser) for managing your Photos. They become the Go-To app for anything to do with your photos. They replace Bridge too as they become a front-end for Photoshop.
So, want to use a photo for something - Export it. Choose the format, size and quality you want and there it is. If you're emailing, uploading to websites then these apps have a "good enough for most things" version called the Preview - this will be missing some metadata.
So it's a big change from a file-based to Photo-based management, from editing files to processing Photos and it's worth thinking it through before you decide.

If your iPhone can't be updated to a higher iOS version then the only way to get them is if you downloaded versions of them which were compatible with iOS 4.2.1 and you still have copies of those versions somewhere e.g. on your computer or on a backup - only the current version of each app is available in the store, and as apps (and other content) are tied to the account that downloads them, you will need to have older copies that are linked to your id

In the article Resolve iOS update and restore errors this is what it says about error 14:
Check your USB connections
Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014, or “invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you may be unable to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
Try a different computer.
If necessary, resolve any further issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you're still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.

I cannot for the life of me figure this out.

What you need to do is connect your phone to iTunes but do not click sync. Go to File at the top and click transfer purchases from phone, that'll put all your apps into iTunes. When it's done transferring, locate your phone on the sidebar and click it. Then find the apps option above the picture of your iphone, you can select which apps you want or don't want on your phone. After selecting your apps then you can sync. Once you do this you should never have your problem anymore.

My airport problem has returned big time --Need some Help!!

I though that this was fixed by simply changing channels on my airport router, but that fix only lasted for a few days, but now it's back and even worse. Let me give you some background on this problem. Here's my original message concerning the problem:
I have my Airport Router connected to the Internet via DSLcable. I then tie my two computers into the internet via their airport cards. For about 6 months this system has been working just fine. Recently my desktop computer quit listening to the router and can no longer connect to the internet. It shows no signal strength and the name of the network on the Airport is not seen in the "connect to internet" panel. The same Airport works just fine on my LapTop and I am using it right now to get this message off to the internet.
I have fixed permissions, removed the airport card and cleaned the connector, the antenna plug and removed the system configuration folder from library preferences all to no avail!
This problem has been hounding me, intermittently, for over a year now What can I do to remedy this??? HELP!!!!

The suggestion to change channels, that came from this original request, worked but just for a very short time. Now I have to shut down my computer overnight to get connected and then it only lasts for several hours and the connection quits.
I thought maybe heat was a problem, but the last time it happened I opened the computer and played a large fan right on the card. This did not help. I shut it down for the night and it was fine the next morning for about 2 hours.
One new data point; if I turn off just the airport on my laptop computer overnight, that will fix the problem for a short time also.
Still need some help!!!

First, power off both the Time Capsule and AirPort Express.
Wait a few minutes, then power up the Time Capsule first, and let it run for a few minutes.
Temporarily, move the AirPort Express to the same room or close proximity to the AirPort Express and power it up.
If the Express powers up correctly, power it off again and move it approximately half the distance between the Time Capsule and the general area that needs more wireless coverage. Try to minimize obstructions like walls, ceiling, heavy furniture, etc as much as possible.
Please report on your results.

my video looks fine in my computer, but when i send my .mov video to encore (cs6) in a HD MENU and standard menú, the image sucks.
i have done the transcoding in encore, but i doesnt work either. i dont know what else to do.
