I need CS4(win7) so I can install CS5 bought as a gift at Christmas

I was given a new copy of CS5 Master Collection (for PC) by well meaning wife, but I don't have CS4 which I need to have in place first as the CS5 is an upgrade to it.
Is there anywhere I can get this?  It is only needed temporarily so that I can install the CS5.

Upgrading from Production Premium to a Master Collection certainly is possible, but the devil 's in the details. The upgrade serial would have to specifically fit this case which is a matter of the package codes and installers in the packages. And you'd still need to run the proper licenses transfer, of course, if this is a registered package. Only support can help you in these matters.

Wondering if you need to have a dual

Also how do you know if you have a 64 bit processor.
I'm not sure how to tell.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was thinking but now completly sure.
I did run the Intel test and it says yes next to this.

64-bit computing on Intel architecture requires a computer system with a processor, chipset, BIOS, operating system, device drivers and applications enabled for Intel(R) 64 architecture. Performance will vary depending on your hardware and software configurations. Consult with your system vendor for more information.

  • Proper way to install CS5

When going from CS4 to CS5, what is the proper way? Should I install CS5, then uninstall CS4 later or should CS4 be romved, restart and then install CS5?
I done it the first way and it gave me some problems opening up old Photoshop files. Didn't know if I did a complete uninstall first if it would make it work right.
    Thanks

Insert the CS5 DVD and follow instructions.  CS4 and CS5 can co-exists but only one or the other can be opened a any given time. When you no longer need CS4 it may be un-installed.  Try to keep what you install into Photoshop out of Adobe install trees. However some third party add-ons insist on beeing installed into each versions of Photoshop install tree. Actions and other things like brushes shapes styles etc can be loaded from anywhere.  Photoshop  Plug-ins tree can be linked to your plug-in tree in Photoshop preferences.  Most Plugins are compiled programs and there are some that will be 32bit only and some 64bit.  If you have a 64bit OS the Photoshop CS5 will install two versions of Photoshop CS5 a 64 bit version and a 32 bit version on your system.

  • Can I deactivate cs4 after I installed cs5?

I installed and activated cs5 and already had cs4 running on pc.  I want to transfer cs4 to colleague so I need to deactivate cs4 and uninstall.  Can I do deactivate and uninstall cs4 safely after I have installed and used cs5?  Thanks for any advice
    >>> Actually, I just read on another discussion re cs3 and cs5 - it is recommended that you deactivate and uninstall the earlier version before installing the newer version and to just use the old serial number when prompted by the new cs5 install. So i think the best solution is to un-install cs5, then deactivate and un-install cs4 and then re-install cs5.

If you don't want to keep the older version:
uninstall the older version first, BEFORE installing the new version.
The Adobe Uninstallers have a nasty habit of messing with essential support files of the new version because they mistake them for the older versions.  When that happens, you have to jump through hoops just to uninstall the damaged version, as not even the Uninstaller will work on it. (You would need something called the CS3Clean Script, CS4Clean Script aor CS5Clean.  Avoid having to go there.  Honest.)
All Adobe upgrades are FULL INSTALLERS.  The Upgrade installer will simply ask you for the old serial numbers when it doesn't find an older qualifying version installed.
    Once more:
Do NOT uninstall an older version after upgrading to a new one; do it BEFORE.
    Foretold is forewarned.

  • I currently have iPhoto 8.1.2 on my macbook pro and am trying to update to the latest version.  I have had to work backward, but I can only get back to 9.1, which will not install because it says I need at least 9.0 to install it. Is 9.0 available?

Upgrading from iPhoto 8 to iPhoto 9 requires a purchase. There are two ways to get to iPhoto 9:
    1 - purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
2 - if your MBP meets the requirements upgrade you system for free to Mavericks.  Then you can purchase the latest iPhoto version, 9.5.1, from the App Store.

  • I have the latest downloadable version of LR5.  It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5.  It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next time is launches.  I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow.  Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

  • How do I create more room on my MacBook Pro so I can install Snow Leopard?  It says it needs 5GB and I have 4.something.

How do I create more room on my MacBook Pro so I can install Snow Leopard?
I've only got 4.something GB left and it says it needs 5 GB?
Which then begs the question, will I be able to do anything with the computer.
I think I need to get some stuff off, but do not know where to look up what is taking up the most room.
I have an extra hard drive.
    I have iDisk.
I have a Time Machine, but it backs up one of my three Macs.
    Thanks.

A utility like GrandPerspective is a good one for seeing what is taking up space on your hard drive.
Video and photo files tend to take up a lot of room.

  • I need to know how to disable my apps on my old system so that I can install them on new computer.

I've just purchased a new iMac and need to know how to disable my apps on my old system so that I can install them on the new one.

You are allowed to have two working installations so you do not have to disable the original if you prefer to have a backup.  Otherwise, to disable you can just sign out thru the CC manager.

  • I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. After a few weeks the HDD failed. New Leopard install reports: "insufficient memory". I need Tiger install disks so I can install

I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard.
After a few weeks the HDD failed. I bought a new disk, installed it and trued to install Leopard, but the  install fails reporting "insufficient memory".
I assume the installation requires more memory than the OS actually needs to be able to run.
I need Tiger install CD/DVD so I can install Tiger first and then upgrade to Leopard.

Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.
You need much more RAM than that.

  • I'm trying to install Adobe PS CS3 for my boss on an other computer. I put the Program on a hard disc and copied it to the other computer now it won't open and says it needs the license. What can I do to make it work on this  computer?

I'm trying to install Adobe PS CS3 for my boss on an other computer. I put the Program on a hard disc and copied it to the other computer now it won't open and says it needs the license. What can I do to make it work on this  computer?

Copying the program over to a new machine will not work.   Install it using installation files and activate it using the serial number assigned to the license.

  • Do I need to install CS4 full version before installing CS5 upgrade?

New hard drive in iMac. I have a full version of CS4 design premium and an upgrade version of CS5. Do I have to install both? Or can I just install CS5 upgrade and somehow use my CS4 full serial number to validate the CS5?

You have the right idea.  You do not have to install CS4.  At some point during installation of CS5 you will be required to enter the serial number for CS4 in order to confirm it as a valid upgrade installation

  • I have a macbook pro with 10.6.8 on it but I need to do a clean re install and my CD is 10.4.6. Can I use the CD and then are my OS updates to 10.6.8 free?

I have a macbook pro with 10.6.8 on it but I need to do a clean re install and my CD is 10.4.6. Can I use the CD and then are my OS updates to 10.6.8 free?
Also can I use iMac OS install disks on a MacBookPro?

You will have to buy Snow Leopard:
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order. You also should find it at your local Apple retailers.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.

  • Installed CS5, now can't export from CS4! Help! "Could not read from the source..."

I installed CS5 but completely ignored the fact plugins were required to be 64-bit. It'll be months before the plugins I require for my projects to be updated!
So I continued editing in CS4 and when I attempted to export with the media encoder it halts instantly with an exclamation mark, the log says :
"Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been  deleted."
And yes I'm not stupid, I did my research.
I tried uninstalling CS4 and reinstalling. I tried the shortcut fix. I tried moving my cache files. My extensions are correct.
Right now the only fix seems to be completely removing CS5 and CS4, After Effects just because they share files (?) and all my settings and plugins along with it! I'd rather NOT do that if I can!

Good detective work, and glad that it worked. Now, your cure will be here for us to link to and for others to find. Your title will help direct others to this thread. Job well done.
    Thanks,

  • Installed CS5, now I can't administer a site using CS4

I installed CS5 recently. My client still has CS4. She recently changed her ftp pass codes. I updated the connection with Contribute using CS5, but she can not access the site and gets an error message "This site is now being managed by a newer version of Contribute". I cleared the preferences in CS5 and am trying to re-establish the connection for her using CS4...but everytime I do I get half way through the set up process and get an error message saying that the site is already being managed by a newer version of Contribute (even though I have cleared the CS5 preferences in the Library and that site doesn't exist anymore on CS5 version).
How can I still use the older software for my client who doesn't have CS5? Thanks. Melissa

    1) If the site is adminitered by newer version of Contribute then you can't administer the site using lower version of Contribute.
    2) In the Compatibility is chosen as Transition Mode then the users in lower version can connect, if the mode chosen is Compatibility then they can't connect.
Please refer to the blog http://blogs.adobe.com/contribute/2009/09/compatibilty_transition_mode.html for more information.
    Hope this help you.
