I need firefox to support a 128 bit encryption for a website I need to use for work. How do I accomplish this?

www.opm.gov/e-qip/ is a government site that I need to use to fill out a questionaire for employment. It says my web browser does not support a 128 bit encryption which it needs for the site to work properly. How do I increase the encryption bits?

It is a warning that you can ignore.
<blockquote>Warning - We did not detect that your web browser supports 128-bit high encryption. If you have trouble connecting after you click the "Continue" button below, you will need to upgrade your web browser to a version that supports 128-bit encryption.</blockquote>

" I have been in the preferences extensively and i keep updating it to go to to new location"
Apple does a poor job of documenting/explaining this setting - the iTunes Media folder location setting in Edit > Preferences > Advanced doesn't tell iTunes where to find the content of your library.  Rather, this determines where iTunes will put new content when you add it.  Current locations are held within the iTunes database (the iTunes Library.itl file).  As tt2 says, if you hold down SHIFT while starting iTunes and when you get this prompt:
click on Choose Library..., navigate to your D: drive and select the iTunes Library.itl file that should be there.  Ideally you should have copied everything to D:\iTunes with this structure:

  • 128 bit encryption for e-qip????? Is it possiable to open this site with version 33.0

As ive seen in other posts Im having a problem with the e-qip website. It states that I dont have 128 bit encryption. Im running firefox 33.0 It has a walk through on how to configure firefox to work with the site but the directions are obviously old and I dont have any of the controls they are adjusting!

The Mozilla browsers which include Firefox has supported 256-bit even encryption for a long time now.
The issue could perhaps be the e-qip site is still looking for the old obsolete '''U''' in the useragent which was used to specify the encryption strength of 128-bit though 256-bit has been supported for a long while already at time by Mozilla applications. This "U" was removed in Firefox useragent as of 4.0 which was released March 22nd, 2011. The old 3.6.x was the last to have it.

  • Trying to fill out the fafsa report for student entering college and they say I must use an earlier version of firefox, either 3.5 or 3.6, for vista, how can I download this?

Just need to download an earlier version of firefox, either 3.5 or 3.6 for vista operating system. How do I do this?

The fafsa.gov site does not currently support Firefox newer than version 3.6.x. That is their choice.
You can install Firefox Portable version to use only on that site and use your installed Firefox 5 for everything else. Firefox Portable installs in a separate folder on your hard drive so that it does not interfere with your Firefox 5.0.1 settings or personal information (bookmarks, passwords, etc.). You can also install Firefox Portable on a USB/thumb/pin drive.

  • New iPad asks for WiFi password. There is none. My WiFi uses WEP 128 bit encryption, but there is no "password" to enter.

Brand new to the iPad. It's asking for a password to the WiFi network in my home. There is no "password" as such associated with this WiFi network. It uses WEP 128 bit encryption where each byte is a hexadecimal number and is called a "key" Typing this lengthy thing in gives me no results. The iPad keeps on asking for a password. I have three computers and a DVD hooked to the network which has been working for a decade, so that's not the issue.
Basically I'm stuck not being able to get onto the WiFi system.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • I am currently using a desk top imac with firefox as the browser. I need to access a website that requires 128 bit encryption. How do I increase bit encryption?

when I log into view my accounts, a pop up asks me to use either explorer or netscape with 128 bit encryption. since i use a mac, i do not have either. can i up the encryption using firefox?

  • I need at least 128 bit encryption to access secure sites. What level of encryption does Firefox have and how do I check it?

Many banking sites require you to confirm that you have at least 128 bit encryption on your browser. I allowed a site to check the encryption on my browser (Firefox/Windows) and was told I didn't have at least 128 bit encryption. I'm not the most computer savvy, so I don't know how to check or increase encryption, so if someone could guide me, I'd really appreciate it.

Right-click on the web page and select '''View Page Info'''. The '''Security''' tab will show the level of encryption being used in "Technical Details" at the bottom of that tab.
Firefox matches the level of encryption used by any secure website, and will easily do more that 128-bit encryption.

  • How do I get 128-bit encryption in Firefox 4.0 for a financial website?

I need 128-bit encryption capability on my web browser in order to use a specific financial website for bill paying, The site's encryption test shows that Firefox 4.0 (newly installed) does not provide that level of security. Help?

I think the www.opm.gov site may be looking for the '''U''' that was in the Firefox 3.6 and earlier useragents as it was one of the things removed in Firefox 4.0 and newer useagents. The site says it recognizes the browser but does not detect that your web browser supports 128-bit high encryption which contradicts.
The "U" stands for "USA" (for the version with 128-bit encryption) (since 1996).

  • Download to support 128 bit encryption

since trying to download 4.0 version I cannot open firefox at all and need 128 bit encryption that was available prior to 4.0

Current Firefox releases can't even go below 128 bit, SSL2 that supported this have been removed quite a few releases now (Firefox 8 dropped support for SSL2).
128 bit is the minimum that you can use with Firefox and you can only go higher (e.g. 168 or 256).<br />
128 bit shouldn't be used these days and servers that only support 128 bit should update their software.
Firefox supports AES-256 since 2002, so that is already more than 10 years.

If websites complain about 128 bit encryption not available then that can be caused by the "U;" that is no longer present in the Firefox user agent.

To use IRS Business Services Online (http://www.socialsecurity.gov/employer/bsohbnew.htm), 128-bit encryption is needed. They say:

If you are unsure whether your browser supports 128-bit encryption, contact the software company that developed the browser."
But I can't seem to find this information on the about page or in online articles about encryption. Would you please help?

  • XI - 128 Bit encryption

Whether XI (3.0, SP 16) is capable of doing 128 bit SSL Encryption? We are in the process of making a bridge with our external partners (B2B).
We want to install Certificates, and want to do the Encryption?
Who will install the Certificates? From where we can buy these certificates?
    Who will do this process?
What are all the other points that we need to remember when we do this 128 bit Encryption?
    Thanks

    Hi,
SSL is supported by WebAS, and XI is just an application on top of it.  The certificates are entered using the Visual Administrator, and also in the ABAP environment, depending on whether you also plan to use it with the SOAP adapter.  The configuration is normally done by the basis person.
128-bit is supported.  You can get certificates from various providers, e.g. Verisign.  To work with a partner who has an user certificate, that user will have to provide you with his public certificate.
The XI Configuration Guide that comes with the installation CD have the instructions.  Also, you can access that following weblogs for additional info:

  • Problems with IE and 128-bit encryption -- correction

Repost with corrected e-mail address -- sorry!
Hello. I'm having a problem with 128-bit SSL and Internet Explorer.
I'm using WebLogic 5.1 (128-bit build) and a Verisign certificate.
We're seeing some strange behavior with Internet Explorer. It seems to
work fine from some machines, but doesn't work from others. On the ones
that it doesn't work, it gives the "The page cannot be displayed"
message. I've tried this with IE 4.0.1 (with 128-bit patch) and IE 5.5
(128-bit by default) and have the same problems with both. We're seeing
this problem across various Windows operating systems, but aren't seeing
any pattern there. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve
