I need help deciding what to buy

Hi,
I have an iBook (10.2.8) with 128 MB and 800 MHz. It is from 2003, so it doesn't have wireless internet. I have looked into both the Original Airport Card and an exterior USB wireless thing. My computer knowledge is really limited, so it is difficult for me to decide which would be best to buy.
To make things more complicated (for me at least) is that I need to update everything in order to have any kind of wireless internet, right? Would Tiger be the thing to buy? Or would Panther be better? Like I said, my computer has a few years on it, so it doesn't have a DVD drive; therefore I would need the CD version of either update.
Any suggestions on which wireless option or update program I should buy? (Keep in mind that price is a big consideration as I am a poor college student.)

Well, it is wireless ready. All you need to do is install the proper card.
If it is an iBook G3, the internal slot is compatible only with the original AirPort card.
If it is an iBook G4, the internal slot is compatible only with the AirPort Extreme card.
The next most compatible solution is an Ethernet wireless adapter. These require no drivers and therefore will work with any Ethernet device regardless of OS. Examples of Ethernet wireless adapters are the Linksys WET11, Linksys WET54G, and the Buffalo Technology WLI-TX4-G54HP bridge.

You don't need either. OS 10.2.8 supports AirPort (wireless) networking.

Need help deciding what computer is best for me?

I am 14 years old and going into high school. I am debating whether to buy the new macbook or take my grandpa's original macbook air. I want to take programing/coding and graphic design classes, so I wanted to know which computer would be best for me? I like the macbook air for how like and easy it is to carry with me to and from school, but I'm not sure if it would be more beneficial to have the newer technology of the macbook? Any help or input would be great! Thanks

Can the money you don't spend now on a new computer be put aside to buy you a new computer at a later date? That is the key question. The trick with the Air is to avoid using up the harddrive, so the less stuff you have to put on it (games, movies), the better. Other than that, it should be able to do all you want it to do...for now. And given how much you poor students have to haul around in your backpacks , I think it's smart to go for Grandpa's Air and save yourself from hauling around nearly three extra pounds.
The Air is there and, I assume, it's going to be given to you at a good price ? Use it and see if it does all you need and want it to do. If you find it's too limiting, the Macbook Pros will still be there for you to get. What's more, if you hold off now, then as you near college--or where ever you're going after high school, you can use the money you didn't spend now for something that might be really excellent for your future in coding and graphics.
If it's feasible, I'd try out the Air for the summer and see if it's for you. The school specials on computers will be going for a while if you find it's not enough and you need more.

Need Help about what to buy

I am a student at a college and we have Adobe Premiere Pro there and I just recently downloaded it and started the free trial so I can edit on my own at home.
I know we have another major video project coming and I am currently working on one now.
The question is, I am new to this. What should I buy, or what type of membership should I buy and do they provide discounts to students? Classes are only until May and I am not sure I will need this for next semester.
I appreciate any help!

alot of nle's and other programs have a student edition or discount. if you need to use adobe's software for your class etc, can look at their student subscription plan.

Why liquid cooling? You want more noise and more power consumption and higher expenditures, without lower temps?
Corsair Hydro coolers do not give better cooling performance than air coolers from Cooler Master or Noctua, nor do they run quieter. They are only more expensive. Don't forget that air coolers in push-pull configuration have two fans, that are replaced by two fans on the radiator when using a Corsair Hydro. Unfortunately, the Corsair fans are pretty noisy, thereby defeating the intention of water cooling to make things more silent. Effectively, one replaces two fans with an average noise level of 25 dB with two radiator fans with 35 dB. If the cooling performance was better, that extra noise might be overlooked, but that is not the case. Up to around 4.8 GHz overclock, the performance difference between air coolers and Corsair Hydro is negligent. So, if you opt for Corsair Hydro coolers, you don't get better cooling, you do get more noise, more power consumption (because of the waterpump) and you spend a lot more.

So I bought a 17-inch MacBook Pro from my brother in August of 2009. He bought it in March of 2008. A couple days ago I noticed that my MacBook Pro has been releasing a really bad smell almost as if burning plastic. But the smell isn't that bad. What could be wrong with my MacBook Pro? I'm getting a New 15 or 13-inch MacBook Pro in June so idk if I should just not worry about it? And I need help deciding if I should get a high end 13-inch MacBook Pro or a low end 15-inch MacBook Pro?

Need help deciding which adobe product to purchase (Photoshop or Illustrator)

hello,
I am about to be given the task of creating the graphics for my company on a specific task.
We recently got a new printer to create cards with and before now, everyone has been running into trouble getting clean, accurately colored prints for these cards, and I am being given the task of creating them and need to decide what program I will need to achieve this.
What happens, is a company orders a set of cards and sends their graphic, which I will be receiving at a different size than will be needed for printing, so I need to enlarge it, which distorts the colors.
Also, on almost all of the images, I will be needing to add some words to the graphic before printing it, like the company name or address etc. but then occasionally, I am given some general images and generic instructions which I need to follow in order to create the graphic.
So, I was thinking that photoshop would help me to refill the colors after resizing an image, or when I need to create the graphic mostly myself, yet I will be having difficulty creating the words required.
But then illustrator would be giving me excelent fonts and words since its a vector program, yet I believe I will run into problems colorizing my graphics once resized.
So, what does everyone think would be the better option here?
Or what would be a good work around for either photoshop or illustrator that would help me resolve the problems arrising because I do not have the other?
Or what are some other potential problems I might possibly run into?

Being the economic misfortune that hit the country, my company doesn't have the funds to pay for a professional and they are trying to find a way to keep the project inside the building.
me being 20 years old and wishing to pursue a career in graphic design sees this as a great opportunity to learn alot about printmaking as well as how to use graphic editing programs on a level higher than taught in school.
My boss is wanting me, and going to pay for me, to go under several hours of training to accomplish what needs to be done, but like I said, I am given the task of trying to figure out what kind of software I am going to need for the task, which is why I am here asking about the programs.
Also, it is kind of my first attempt at trying to further understand exactally what each of the programs do, and so far, I have learned quite alot by searching around and asking what other people think.
So, If you don't find it to be too hard to put your opinions or thoughts about how I could best accomplish creating the cleanest cards I would greatly appreciate it.

I have both an iPad and a highly capable smartphone (HTC Incredible), which while not an iPhone, fills the same needs in my life. If I had to choose one device, phone or iPad, it would have to be phone as text messaging is my primary mode of communciation, everyone has my phone number and text messaging on the iPad would not be as convenient and an iPad won't fit in my pocket.
The iPad sits somewhere between my Macbook and my phone. It has pretty much replaced the Windows XP netbook I used to take out and about. With it's stellar battery life, huge screen and instant on, it's much pleasanter to use while sitting in a coffee shop or while eating lunch alone.
However, without knowing your needs, it would be pretty hard to make a recommendation.

Any hard disk drive in a USB enclosure will work with either the Time Capsule or the Extreme.
Don't use Time Machine for archival purposes - that's not what it is designed to do. It's strictly a backup utility.

I've ran a benchmark on my Mac (iMac early 2009). Performance of Yosemite in general was about the same as Mavericks. But that can be different on other Mac's of course. Safari is mostly a bit slower. It's recommended you clean your old internet-caches and then restart Safari. (you can use a little app called CCleaner to do that). That might make a difference. Speed-issues are usually solved in the first and second update of OS X.

Need help fast with a buying decision - Leadtek 6800 GT

Hi there, I have the opportunity to swap my Club 3D 6800 GT for a Leadtek 6800 GT. The reasons I would do this would be the cooling and the games bundle.
I just wanted to know if anyone knows how the cooling is on this particular card and if it would be better than the reference design?
My other concern is that it has a huge copper heatsink on the back of the card, this would sit directly under the CPU HSF. There really would only be a few millimeters between them and due to the position of the socket on this board, the heat sink fins go up vertically. Would the heat from the card's copper heat sink rise up into the CPU HSF grooves and raise the temperature of the CPU?

i would definately take the leadtek one over the club3d card, the cards themselves are all based on refrence designs just different cooling solutions and bundles
and the cooler on the leadtek is a lot better, and it isnt more noisy then the club3d one at all
it has better cooling, and they seem to be the ones which are the most available, and they overclock very well due to the better cooling
