I need help finishing the java install

i have windows Millenium Edition & am trying to download J2SDK 1.5.0_4 so that i can write small programs at home. However, i cannot get the install software to finish putting java onto my desktop. it just keeps telling me that the install is complete but, there is no java icon to open the package. i have removed the program completely and tried a second time to install the software but i can get no further that the installshield wizard. i am at a loss and desperately want to start writing programs with java. someone out there, please help!
i tried downloading an installing " Windows Offline Installation, Mult-language jdk-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe ( J2SE Develop. Kit 5.0 Update 4 ) " but it won't let me open java to write any programs.

Java does not have a desktop icon to click. You open the command window and type commands to compile and execute the programs you write.
I strongly suggest that you go to this tutorial
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/
and click the First Steps: link. Be sure to click the link to the installation instructions and read them, especially the instructions about setting the PATH environment variable and the coaution regarding the use of Windows' Notepad.

Thanks Linc for responding to my post. I searched a little further and found I was missing a file. Once I downloaded the fix, I was able to install the software from the original download.

I am not able to understand anything from the error message which you have pasted. But I have successfully deployed the primavera web access for company.
I have written down the steps properly using some images also for my future reference in a M.S. Word document.

I have posted here a few times before, i have had great help from members but now i just need help finishing off my project. It is for a client and i am trying to do it as fast as i can but i do not have the knowledge to finish off the code. I did post this question previously but it has gone unanswered,
I just need help on a roll out effect, i have it so if the mouse rolls of the button before the second image is up, it fades out. That is good. But when the second image IS up, the mouse rolls off the button and then the 2nd image fades out, but the 1st images shows up and also fades out. How can i prevent this from happening so it is always only the visible image that will fade out.

I don't have time to go thru your code in detail to figure out what it's supposed to be doing, and no one is likely to try to help if you don't provide it here. If I look at your other posting I see one line that you should correct... who knows, it might be the source of your problem... this line needs to be fixed....

You can re-enable it in the General pane of the Java Preferences app, found in /Applications/Utilities. (Check the box at the top of that pane.) If trying to open Java Preferences results in a message asking if you want to install Java, you don't actually have Java yet. Click the install button to install it.
Note that having Java turned on in your web browser is dangerous, due to recent proliferation of malware that uses Java to install itself.

Hi, Thanks for that further bug description In Your Last Message That Describes The Problem I Am Having perfectly and is exactly the same for me.
unfortunately that fix for my camera Powershot G6 does not work or apply as the view pictures switch is different on G6 is not usable during download as once you plug in DC/USB cable it turns off, and makes no diff and problem still exists exactly as you just described.

it has been 17 days since apple promised to get back to me within 3-5 days hopefully with a solution, but I have still not heard from them.
They blew me off, i guess, probably i will have to wait for new Yosemite OS update, which they pre-warned me could take as much as 6 months.
I cannot believe apple released this new update with such major bug issues for camera downloads and that horrible "Photos" pgm which has all sorts of downgrades in features, usefulness and new bugs compared to iPhotos which I just finally got used to and was much better software.
I am starting to lose faith in Apple and I am getting that Microsoft "FEEL" like I used to have when I was a PC user, which was why I originally switched to Apple computers in first place.
Oh well got my fingers crossed here.
Thankfully the memory card reader solution is working well, but cost me $45.

You cannot do that. The AppleID you used to create the iCloud account is an active primary email address. The email address you created with the iCloud account is also an active primary email address (all Apple domain email address automatically become AppleIDs as well). You cannot replace the primary email address on one active AppleID with the primary email address on another, active AppleID.
You can use your iCloud email/AppleID with iTunes, but it will be a separate account, so all your previous purchases remain tied to the other AppleID you have.
I don't understand your statement that you could not remeber your old AppleID password, as you would have had to use it to create the iCloud account in the first place (the first step of creating the iCloud account required you to login with your existing AppleID and password)?
