I need help getting iTunes to recognize all of my mp3 files.

I have a collection of music that was on my pc before I installed iTunes. When I try to add some of the folders to the library, iTunes doesn't list all of the songs. Some of the folders have sub-folders (album collections containing multiple cds) that are not listed in iTunes once added. Then when I try to sync with my iPhone 4s it complains about some of the files not being found. Now ALL of these files are recognized/listed and playable in Media Player. Why isn't iTunes as smart as Media Player?

Hey jbarwins
Check to make sure that you are up to date on your computer. Another recommendation would be to try a different cable and also reset the NVRAM on your computer.

  • How do I get itunes to recognize all of the music in my library. I backed up the library for 24.95 and not all of it went into the backed up library?

How do you get Itunes to recognize all the music in your library when you buy the backup in the cloud? Alot of my  music was not backed up. These are songs I burned off my CD collection. Itunes Match did not recognize them either?

    *What am I doing wrong?*
You moved it to the server.
You should let iTunes do it.
Point iTunes prefs to the new location.
    Menu Advanced -> Consolidate library.

How do I get iTunes to recognize music imported into the file structure?

Press Alt or Ctrl+B to reveal the menu bar if needed.
Use File > Add Folder to Library if you just want to import it.
If you're trying to relink broken entries in a library with the corresponding media then some more details would help.

  • I need help getting itunes on my new computer. old one crashed

My old computer crashed, I downloaded iTunes on my new computer and need help getting all of my stuff on it that I had. I did 'home share' to see if that worked, and it didnt.
Also, on my old computer, when I synced my iPad & my husbands iPod, it didnt sync any music or podcasts, no videos-and i went through each category seperately to sync it and it didnt work. So I can't sync my devices to the new iTunes bc not everything is on there that i have purchased.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comuter for just this occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How do i get itunes to scan my computer for mp3 files

    Hello,
I just got a new computer and I have all my old mp3 files on my disc.  How do I get itunes to scan my drive and import all my 10,000 songs at one time?

When you first install iTunes, it offers to do a one-time scan of your hard drive.
If you miss that opportunity, you can add music at any time using the command File > Add Folder to Library.  That command brings up a dialog where you can navigate to the folder you want to add, e.g. My Music.

  • How can I get Itunes to recognize all of my music

I've gotten a new computer and have put all of my music stored on an external drive. I have downloaded itunes, changed the directory to find music to the external drive with my music but it still only chooses some songs. Help, please.

    Morning, rozlee.
Getting our music succesfully from one computer to our new computer is always one of those things we just want to have done. I was able to find the following article which reviews what file formats are compatible with iTunes specifically.
Adding music and other content to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1473#2
Compare your file formats to the information under "Adding Content on your computer to iTunes":
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
Hope this information serves to be useful. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities to find answers to your questions.

Try un-installing Quicktime then reinstall again, if this doesn't work you may have to clean any left over bits from the Windows registry.

  • Need help getting dreamweaver to recognize my database file

For a couple of years I have maintained a website that lists available apartments for a rental company.  I want to create a search function to help potential tenants find an apartment more efficiently on the website.  All the data (about 20 columns per apartment) for around 500 apartments is on a microsoft access .accdb file, database.accdb.  I am following the adobe forum page:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/ultradev/building/multiple_param_search/multiple_param_search 03.html
The page tells me to go to the Bindings page and click the + sign, then select Recordset.  However, Recordset is not an option given to me.  I am confused as to how to get Recordset to appear.  Here are some technicals:
The site folder currently contains 3 files.  #1 is database.accdb, the microsoft access database.  #2 is getresults.jsp, which is the page I am trying to do the recordset on.  #3 is searchpage.html, which contains a single search parameter with a submit button.  The site is set up as a testing server.
I am using Dreamweaver CS5.5.  Thank you in advance for your help

    >#2 is getresults.jsp, which is the page I am trying to do the recordset on.
    1) JSP's are no longer supported in Dreamweaver
    2) Access 2007 database was never supported in Dreamweaver
    3) As far as I know JSP/Access was never a supported server model in DW.
So you are either going to have to pick a supported server model, or learn how to write code.  I already mentioned most of this yesterday in your previous post.

  • I had apple account and I changed my password, need help getting iTunes back on my pc with my new password.

I had my pc repaired , They took off  itunes. My apple ID  is the same , but I changed my password, I have download 3  iTunes executive files , But ITunes is not on my pc. Can you help ,me. thank you

Unless you can find a copy of iLife on eBay or Craig's list, you'll have to buy it from Apple or erase your drive.
Reinstalling from your original discs and then upgrading will take a while, but you'll save the cost of iLife.

We own 5 Apple devices but for some reason I cannot get iTunes to recognize one of the iPads.  The other 4 show up just fine and we can sync and do all the stuff we are supposed to do, but this one device is never recognized.  I've tried updating the software, reinstalling iTunes, using different ports on the laptop, different cables...just about everything.  I have NEVER been able to connect this one device, but all the others are fine.  I'm at my wits end.  Is there someone out there who can help a relative novice figure out what's going on?  Thanks so much!

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

my laptop had to be reset to factory settings. prior to that i had all my itunes songs stored on a portable drive. how do i get itunes to recognize the drive as its library?

If the library file is on the external drive, hold <SHIFT> while launching iTunes.  When it prompts to select a library file or create a new one, point it to the location of the library file.
If the library file was on the internal harddrive, easiest solution is to restore it from the backup.  If no backup exists, use File > Add Folder to library.  Also under Edit > Preferences > Advanced, change the library location unless you want iTunes to move the media to the internal drive.

Sure, you can get around it if you don't need the newest version of iTunes. I still use version 7.5 because the newer versions didn't strike me as offering anything I needed.
If you do need a version 10-something then you will have to upgrade your operating system to Leopard (fi your computer will support it) at least.  If you need 10.5 for some reason then there's no getting around it, you will have to buy a new computer.
