I need help getting pictures on my computer!
My camera is FinePix Z20 and I have Adobe: Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 on my computer. I put the pictues from my camera onto the Adobe photoshop album. Then the pictures were deleted off my camera. I tried to move the pictures from the Adobe Photoshop into a folder on my computer but it says "Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk" Now all my pictures I just uploaded have a red square cut down the middle in the corner. I dont know what to do to get my pictures! Please help.
It sounds like you may have opened the files into Photoshop without ever copying them to your local hard drive. With the red X, it sounds like the link to the file is broken, probably because the camera is no longer attached to the computer.
Try reattaching the camera and open My Computer. Look for a hard drive indicator E: or some other letter that represents the memory card. Open the memory card from within Windows explorer and find the files. They may be in a directory like DCM1000 or some other name. Find the .jpg or .raw filles and manually copy them to a directory on your compuer. From there, open them in Photoshop.
If you accepted the default install, you should have had a helper program load that would automate the task above.

Need help getting music onto new computer.
I was curious if anyone knows how to get music from my 60 GB 5th Gen iPod onto my new computer. My old computer crashed, so all that I have is my music on my iPod, and I need to find a way to get my music onto my new PC. I figured I could just plug it into my new computer and that i'd be good to go, but apparently I was wrong. I've researched it a bit and all that I can find is confusing software that is going to cost me more money. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
60 GB 5th Gen Windows XPYou can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.
YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
iGadget Windows Only
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
PodPlayer Windows Only
CopyPod Windows Only
For more on the new function in iTunes 7 look under under File>"Transfer Purchases from iPod" which transfers iTMS purchases. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay. -
Computer crashed!!! need help getting music to new computer!
My computer crashed. I bought a new one with Vista and now I am having problems transferring my music to my new computer. my problem is i had the ipod set to automatically update. Any suggestions on how to get around this.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer. -
I need help getting itunes on my new computer. old one crashed
My old computer crashed, I downloaded iTunes on my new computer and need help getting all of my stuff on it that I had. I did 'home share' to see if that worked, and it didnt.
Also, on my old computer, when I synced my iPad & my husbands iPod, it didnt sync any music or podcasts, no videos-and i went through each category seperately to sync it and it didnt work. So I can't sync my devices to the new iTunes bc not everything is on there that i have purchased. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comuter for just this occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

Welcome back. Do not overlook the Finder and individual application Help menu support. The links provided above are great starter references. With tongue in cheek, they also may not be as current as the OS X release on your mini, so expect some differences.
Here are a litany of keyboard short-cuts, last updated in June 2012, that may prove selectively beneficial.
For actions like copy(c), paste(v), cut(x), print(p), and select-all(a), substitute the command key instead of control key.
If you right click on a file, this menu will seem familiar. Press the option key and notice the menu changes. If you copy a file(s) from this menu, change to the destination and then press option with the right button menu to see copy file(s) changed to move file(s).
To quickly view a file's contents, left click on the file icon, then press the space bar.
The native file format for OS X is PDF. Thus, when you choose to print, you also have the option to save as PDF with web links preserved.
Enjoy your mini. -
Hi Guys,
I have a problem with Importing Pictures onto my Mac mini with Lion installed by using a Card Reader,
What is the problem here so I can get Pictures onto my Computer. ,Hi Noob Søren
There are a few things that are confusing in your question.
As far as I know, you dont have to install Time Machine on this OS as it is already installed for you. You only need to connect a hard drive to your computer via firewire or usb, click on the Time Machine icon, Open Time Machine Preference in the drop down menu and select a disk: your connected hard drive.
You can of course reformat this connected device, partition it into a few volumes to organise data if you so wish.
I find it strange that your mac's hard drive is divided into two volumes... perhaps this was created through bootcamp?
You can access the configuration of your hd through Applications/Utilities/Disk Utilities.
Clicking on one of the icons on the right hand panel will bring the details of the contents of your hardDrive and volumes. From there you can decide to erase a partition, reformat etc....
If your hd contains more than one volume, and one of them is empty, you could decide to remove it. Back up all your important data before doing so.
Hope this helps

TS4268 I need help getting my face time and imessage to work.
I need help getting my face time and imessage to work. It is saying wating for activation. I just got my iphone 5 2 days ago. I have reset it from the phone and from itunes on the computer, made sure I'm attached to wifi.
The 3 basic troubleshooting steps are these in order: 1. Restart your iphone 2. Reset your settings/iphone 3. Restore your iphone. Since your iphone is only a couple of days old, you should backup your device before restoring. If you don't have anything on your iphone that you care to lose, then simply restoring without a backup is fine. A quick reset of pressing the sleep/wake button (top of iphone) and your home button simultaneously and holding it until the silver Apple logo appears.

My old iMac and OS 10.4 will not accept the New iTunes Version 10 application and I can't get past the screen offering to download iTunes 10. This is wrong and I need help getting past this situation. Help!
Sure, you can get around it if you don't need the newest version of iTunes. I still use version 7.5 because the newer versions didn't strike me as offering anything I needed.
If you do need a version 10-something then you will have to upgrade your operating system to Leopard (fi your computer will support it) at least. If you need 10.5 for some reason then there's no getting around it, you will have to buy a new computer. -

Please help!!!Hi
No that's not the way to do it - iMovie gets confused and in some cases the problems might be un-repairable.
You've got several problems
• iMovie'08 - CAN NOT MOVE PROJCTS - You NEED iMovie'09 or iMovie'11 - I see no other working solution
• Never MOVE or alter any folder named
iMovie Projects - or -
iMovie Events
on DeskTop/Finder - This might be very harmful
• Moving (Projects) and Events - HAS TO be done within the iMovie Application.
You've got an Evets window and here You can view Your Events in two ways - Yearly - or - Yearly per Hard disk
Here You can move within this "window" to another location
• Projects - NO they do not contain Your full movie - only a document on howto use the material in Event folder
and there might be worse if You added Photos from iPhoto and Audio from iTunes/Garageband - then You have
to get this over to the second Mac too, to be able to continue editing.
So to move Your projects to another Mac You need
• iMovie'09 or 11
• an external hard disk -
MUST BE Mac OS Extended formatted - as UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will not work for VIDEO
Should be a FireWire one - as UBS/UBS2 performs badly when used for video
• Then move/copy over within Project resp Events window in iMovie Application
Hopefully I've been not to confusing or badly structured to be followed.

Need help getting iBook online
Hi I have a blueberry ibook with Mac OS 9 and I need help getting it online. I have cable internet on my home computer WOW, and I unplugged the internet cord from my home computer and plugged it into my laptop and could not get on the internet. How do I get on the internet with that cord if possible? I know nothing about Macs, or ethernet or proxy or any of that jargon. Thanks!
Merry Christmas to you Kristen
I do not have any disks or software
for my ISP, just an access number.
When you say "access number", what do you mean? When I hear the term "access number" I think of a phone number. Or is it an IP address (which would look something like 127.127.1.1 - a number with some dots in it), or something altogether different?

If you are not sure of what you are doing,If you are worried about losing anything when doing a major systems upgrade/update,
Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
Older version of CarbonCopyCloner found here.
http://mac.filehorse.com/download-carbon-copy-cloner/2734/
Older versions of SuperDuper can be found on the SuperDuper Website and Homepage.
http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.

I've got a period to date report with following columns:
week1 tots, week2 tots, week3 tots, week4 tots, week5 tot, period-to-date tots, year-to-date tots
I have a SELECT statement which totals data for the entire year and separates current period totals
by grouping on the week_nbr . Any date between beginning of year and the end of the previous period will be week 0
The Select statement retursn 6 rows: 1 for each week in period and one with week_nbr = 0 which represents the totals from the beginning of year
to the end of the previous period.
the select statement returns the data correctly . I need help getting the YTD total for (weeks 1 - 5) + (totals for week 0) for each column.
This means that I will have a 7th record containing the YTD totals. ( I am not concerned with the PTD totals)
I tried sum by partition but complex decode statement gave me problems.

Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements; that's very helpful. You could teach something to some people who have been using this forum for years (except that nobody can teach them).

Do you mean the expected results will include the row above, and that the results will be this row along with the 6 rows you're already getting? (If you wanted just that one row, I suppose you would just run your second query.)

I need help getting my contacts transferred from my old iphone to my new one
Either backup the contacts in iCloud or with a compatible programme on your computer (Outlook, Windows Contacts, Address Book etc).
Once done, sync the contacts to your new iPhone from that programme/iCloud.

How do I get pictures from my computer to my iPad mini?
I am new to iPad (got my mini a week ago) and I am trying to figure out how to get pictures from my computer onto the mini...I am soooooooo confused right now! LOL
thanks in advance!
LaineeAnother way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
