I NEED HELP - I'M STUCK!

I recently purchased an ibook on ebay for my daughter. Apparently the unit was from a stock that had been used previously by a school system, because whenever I start up it loads with a menu of student log-in choices. I am able to select one of the student names and get to the desktop, however, when I attempt to install another system, it keeps saying that I don't have the administrator privileges to do that.
I would really like to install remedial education software for my daughter, but as it stands, the computer is not being utilized.
Can someone help me, please?

If you don't get the an existing Admin password, another option would be to boot from an OS X install disc and one of the options offered then is to reset a password. Then you'd be able to delete the extra accounts (which take up drive space), and create a new account for yourself as an Administrator. Just make sure that you have complete access to everything you need before you delete completely the other admin account(s).

if its in DFU mode, when connected to itunes it should recognise that & then set about offering the recovery mode. if its not recognising it, have you tried recboot. I used it when downgraing from 4.0.1 to 3.1.3 & after downgrading it was in DFU mode & the instructions said to run recboot to finish off the process (worked & i now have 3.1.3 again

Need help with mac stuck in start up

I was only able to boot in safe mode. I reinstalled os x 10.4 and it rebooted fine. On doing all the updates on the 3rd reboot it is stuck in a blue screen recycle after the mac os x start up screen. Windows starts okay. The extra problem I have is the internal d drive does not work and I use an external dvd drive. Would appreciate any help. I have flashed the pram. I think it might be related to the last updates.

What happens if you run fsck?
Run fsck.
1. Reboot/Startup holding your Command-S key down.
2. At the command line type the following and hit 'Return.'
/sbin/fsck -fy
3. If it finds a problem and repairs it, immediately run fsck again until the drive checks OK.
4. After it has check/repaired your disk, type 'reboot' and hit 'Return' again.

New user need help stopping a stuck/ running program

I was trying to read/ edit a .pdf file when it became stuck. I cant close it. There is a spinning color wheel that continues to spin. the computer works fine otherwise but I have no idea how to perform the Mac version of the PC's "CNTL-ALT-DLT".
Does that make sense at all?

It makes perfect sense. On the dock right-click the application and click force quit. You can also click the apple icon at the top left of the screen, click force quit and quit the application from there. The shortcut for this is option>command>escape.
The closest thing to CTRLALTDEL in OS X is probably activity monitor located in utilities. You can force quit applications and check CPU usage, RAM usage, HDD activity etc.. from the application if you to do more than force quit an application using methods mentioned earlier.

Need help fixing a stuck pixel in Premiere Pro CS6

Editing on a MacPro, OSx.6, Premiere CS6, I have found a stuck pixel (red) on some of my footage. Tried removing with cc wire removal in AE, but that did not seem to want to work. Everytime we applied the wire filter to our comp, it turn the whole comp black. Does anyone know of another work around to fix a stuck pixel or another plug in to use?

I've got the same issue - when CC Wire Removal is applied the entire screen goes black. I tried it on two different systems running at significantly different specs - same result. There is another blog on here someplace with many people reporting the same issue. I'm curious as to why there isnt a fix for this already? I've got a video to deliver by tomorrow for an international construction giant and I can't remove a freaking dead pixel! I can't use the clone stamp as the pixel is right in the left corner of the mouth, so it's (depending on the frame) either just outside the mouth, in the mouth, on the tongue or on the tooth. Very frustrating (also admit that my limited AE ability restricts me to applying the CC wire removal fix).
I'm hoping I can render the footage in a different codec and maybe CC wire removal will cooperate...

yes i am sure. This are the exact words... "The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. The disk you are attempting to use is full. (Removing files and emptying the recycle bin will free up additional space". i tried some options, hard reset, redsnow, tinyumbrella but still it's stuck.

Download RecBoot and see if you can kick it out of recovery mode.

There is no other way than to plug into a computer to restore the phone. You can use another computer to do so, but in case you did not back up to iCloud your data and settings will be gone.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like your device is in recovery mode. I understand you would like to back it up before updating to iOS 8.1 but cannot because you are in recovery mode. I would first suggest restarting your device to exit recovery mode.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you put your device into recovery mode by mistake, restart it. Or you can wait 15 minutes and your device will exit recovery mode by itself.
