I need help installing APEX 2.2

hi guys,
I am very very new to this application (been using this for only 3 weeks in office where I am doing my internship).
I want to install APEX in my laptop. I've downloaded and install 10g XE. from what I read in the forum, the package contains apex 2.1. now to my questions:
how to check the installed apex version?
how to upgrade apex?
the installation guide says:
change your working directory to apex...
which directory does it mean? the installed apex directory in C: or the apex directory from the zip file i just downloaded?
how to do this?
is it using "Start->Run->cmd"
or
"Start->Oracle Database 10g Express Edition->Run SQL command line"

I think there is a 'better' solution for you, if all you want to do is to 'play around' and see the differences between 2.1 and 3.0 then I would suggest signing up for a (free) account at apex.oracle.com which is running 3.0.
I suggest this is a 'better' solution for a few reasons -
1) It will be far easier for you, since by your own admission -
"because I dont know how to change the working directory. I'm totaly new to these things..:P"
There is already enough information in this thread to point you to instructions on how to upgrade your installation but you are still having problems, so I'd hate to see you 'break' your working XE installation by making a mistake with the upgrade (even though it is well documented).
2) As I mentioned, the APEX files you downloaded are not intended to be used on an XE installation, so you're having problems doing something that you're not really supposed to be doing...therefore why continue trying to do it?
So, I'd suggest using the existing 2.1 version that comes with your XE instance and also using the 3.0 version that apex.oracle.com provides. You will be able to 'play around' with both and compare the two versions.
Just bear in mind that you will (obviously) not be able to take any applications you develop in 3.0 and install them in your 2.1 install (i.e. not backwards compatible).

But the instructions for installing Apex are in the Apex home page. Go to http://otn.oracle.com and drill to the Apex home page by going to Products:Development Tools (left edge) and finding Application Express on that resulting page.
If you are going to potentially violate your agreement or leave the system in an unreliable state, why not simply use the Enterprise Edition?

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.
Your computer comes with Win 8 pre-installed but one of the steps to install/run Windows 8.1 is having updated drivers for Windows 8.1
Please, go to Control Panel -> System (or Start -> type winver and open) and verify what is your current version - if it is Windows 8 or 8.1
Windows 8 is version 6.2.x
Windows 8.1 is version 6.3.x
If Windows 8 in place, then , please read this article and enroll in the steps:

Need help installing Snow Leopard on a 2009 iMac. Hard drive is only choice for location and message says hard drive can't be used because it is used for Time Machine backups. Ultimate goal is to upgrade to OS 10.6.8.

Check to see if you have a file called backup.backupdb
If you do that means at some time in the past Time Machine was configure to backup to that drive
If that is not where you want your backup to to go, and it should not be stored there any way, then delete it and the install should work then.

You need to purchase the upgrade disk (it is a DVD). Then just put it in and run the installer. When it was first released it was $29 USD, do not know if the price has changed or not.
The usual precautions about backing up your data apply. In fact I would recommend either making a Disk Image of your current boot drive or using something like Carbon Copy Cloner to copy it to an external drive. I upgraded 5 machines from Leopard to Snow Leopard without any issues, but better to be safe than sorry.

So I have Windows Vista Basic Home, I tried updating my Flash version in firefox because it was out of date, but everytime it start downloading it , then I get the a message that says "Error " Appliation in use." I uninstalled it and followed all the suggestions on the websites nothing is working. I even uninstall google chrome thinking it was the problem but I'm still having that problem so I really don't know what to do because now the only place Flash player is installed seems to be Google chrome that I had to redoawload, but everywhere else tells me that I need to install it.

You might need to deactivate Acrobat 9 from your old machine.
Then, install the software from a CD (if you have) and activate with the same serial number.
If you don't have a CD, then you might install Acrobat 9 pro from the below mentioned link:

Chris… No I was using the desktop version, I cannot stand the M version, guess it would be nice if I had a touch screen..…when I finally got my computer to download the Acrobat Standard XI program, not sure how it worked, but I think it had something to do with Windows 8 not allowing itself to update all my apps and programs, even though my computer was set to automatically update any Windows/Microsoft updates…finally I got my Windows updates done, it downloaded like 36 files…and then I had to restart,(which also could have been playing a factor)…so finally got the program downloaded on Windows 8…but then I tried to run the new program and it says install serial #...so I assume that it was asking for the serial # for the Acrobat Standard XI…finally after googling the web, I found somebody that said try your older serial # from the previous program, and when I did this it finally works.. you would think with a brand new Windows computer I would have no problem installing Windows Updates…somebody needs to make a sticky about this, I am sure I am not the only one haiving this problem..
