I need help.  Is exported deinterlaced mp4 or QT video possible?

I've tried everything I can think of but I can't get iMovieHD 6 to export non-interlaced mp4 or QT video.
My camcorder is set record progressive. The video plays in iMovie as progressive. But every time I export a video clip the clip is always interlaced. I am exporting at 720x480 at 8 mbits/sec and I don't about the file size as long as it isn't straight DV.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm...how can progressive footage be converted to interlaced?!
It is possible with the right software. You take a quality hit, but it is possible.
I am having the same problem. I have 1080i footage and it will not deinterlace. The option may as well not be there, because it has no effect on the output.
I am going to check out this MPEG Streamclip program you speak of. It is only going to be useful if it can spit out at least a 720p file out the other end, otherwise iMovie will have to convert it. Now you have a video that is not even edited yet and it is a 3rd generation render. Further more. This initial video I edited is 25 minutes long. I rendered it out to 1280x768 and it took my MacBook 4.5 hours to render, single pass!
Thankfully I do not actually own a highdef camcorder. This is footage from a friend I am editing. Come on Apple! I am not going to spend hundreds on a Pro app to get de-interlaced 1080i anyway so come and fix this!

  • I need help understanding export options and optimizing for web

I have been using FCP X for a short while now and have a pretty good grasp on the editing capabilities. What I'm having a horrible time figuring out is the export/share options. The videos I create are typically approximately 1 minute in length and get posted to a web site (we have our own CMS and video player so I'm not using YouTube or Vimeo or anything like that). In order to post them I need them to be MP4s and then I have to create .webm and .ogv files. The source material I work with is generally great, high quality stuff, so I end up with very large output files from the initial FCP share master file options.
When I use MPEG Streamclip to make my MP4s I end up with files that are still quite large and I can't seem to ever get the file size manageable without losing tons of quality. I do not have Compressor, though if that will solve my problem I will put in for the expense of it. What I'm trying to understand is what sorts of settings I should be trying out to get my file sizes to be manageable without completely compromising my quality. And I know this can be done, because the company I work for pays for a great quantity of video work each year (from an outside production firm) and the clips provided are beautiful in quality and small in file size -- for example, I recently worked on a video and got it into the 40MB range before quality went to crap, working off the same material the production company we do work with had theirs down into the teens and looking beautiful!
To throw an even greater wrench in the works, I am working off a mac. But when my boss, on a pc, saves the mp4s I create (raw files -- not what is posted to the web) locally on his machine and views them from there the sound is always off a tad and the people in the videos look like they're lip synching.
Any advice on either of these is MUCH appreciated. I've been trying to figure this out properly for months, and only today decided to stop seeing if someone else had the same question and just post my own.

Thank you Karsten, this was helpful I have utilized the Quality slider and the frame size options before though with limited results. I've never messed with the Limit Date Rate option as I don't know what I'm doing with it, I see you put 5Mbps. Is that a typical setting that I could use?
Using stream info, here's info on my original source file:
    Stream: Charles_0023_2.mov
    Duration: 0:00:51
    Data Size: 96.51 MB
    Bit Rate: 15.77 Mbps
    Video Tracks:
    H.264, 1920 × 1080, 29.97 fps, 15.64 Mbps
    Audio Tracks:
    MPEG-4 Audio stereo, 48 kHz, 127 kbps
    Stream Files:
    Charles_0023_2.mov (96.51 MB)
As a comparison, here's the info on a similar clip that the company we sometimes use created:
    Stream: Charles_0019_4.mp4
    Duration: 0:00:49
    Data Size: 4.66 MB
    Bit Rate: 0.80 Mbps
    Video Tracks:
    JVT/AVC Coding, 710 × 400, 29.97 fps, 635 kbps
    Audio Tracks:
    MPEG-4 Audio stereo, 48 kHz, 162 kbps
    Stream Files:
    Charles_0019_4.mp4 (4.66 MB)
I'm fine with bringing the frame size down some and modifying the limit data rate, but sometimes I feel like I'm forcing my video into something it's not and the quality suffers -- this is where my understanding of video work breaks down LOL. Any suggestions of how I can get my .mov into something like the the .mp4 above?
Also have you had any experience with mp4s not playing back properly on pcs?
    Again, thank you!

  • I need help with export settings

    Hi everyone,
I need help outputting an HD file for presenting a video to a client. I have tried exporting to HD .mov (H.264 codec) and PE keeps crashing (error compiling movie). From what I’ve read here, it’s due to the gargantuan file QT creates and HD space (even though I think I have enough HD available).
So, I need a recommendation from you on what kind of file to output which will allow me to present the movie to the client in HD. This file is solely for the presentation, I have already published for web (FLV) and YouTube (direct share from PE) and they both worked fine.
    Here are my project specs:
    Timeline:           4:26
    Format:               1920 X 1080 HD
    Timebase:          29.97 frames per second
    OS:                        Windows XP SP3
    Processor:          Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.66GHz
    RAM:                    4GB
Project Drive:   250GB disk with 152GB free space internal dedicated project drive (separate from OS)
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Jose

    Hi Steve, Neale,
I wanted to follow-up on this post. I came into the office today to run a few tests so I can make sure that I have the correct settings on my camera and PE project for the next time around. Here are few observations I was wondering if you can comment on:
My Sony camera cannot shoot HDV. The only format it supports is AVCHD, so I'm stuck converting.
I tried to convert the footage I have to HDV with the software I have (AVS Video Converter and Koyote Soft HD Converter) and neither of the two have an "HDV" conversion setting. I see AVI, MPEG, MOV and many different settings in each (AVI: Hd Video 1080p: H.264AVC, 29.97fps, 4200kbps, Audio MP3, 256 kbps or MPEG: HD Video 1080p - MPEG2, 15000 kbps, 1920X1080, 29.97fps, etc). What should I be looking for?
I searched for "best file format" in the forum and found various postings from both of you referring to converting to DV-AVI within PE; especially if you have AVCHD footage (which I have). So, I followed directions and converted a file for testing. Then, I created a new project using HDV 1080i 30 settings and imported the converted file. I still get a red line on the timeline. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?
I also converted the MOV files (shot in HDV 60i with the pro camera) to DV-AVI. I also get a red line on the timeline...
The DV-AVI converted footage (both cases) doesn't appear to be HD. It looks jagged on the preview window. Is it HD?
The DV-AVI converted footage is almost double the file size as the MTS (AVCHAD) file (138mb vs. 60mb). Isn't that going to make PE run slower?
Thanks in advance for your help. I just wanna make sure I do my homework now so I set everything up correctly on the next project.
    Jose

  • Need Help with Export to ePub in CS5.5

I am working on my first ePub in InDesign 5.5. When I go to File—Export for— there is no option for ePub. In fact there is only "Buzzword" and it grayed out. How do I get export for epub?

In InDesign CS 5.5, it's File > Export > EPUB.
However, if this is new for you, if you haven't prepared your file properly, it may come out like mush.
You need to prepare export order, styling of paragraph styles, character styles and object styles, you need to create a TOC style, there are many steps.
I highly recommend one of these two resources:
Anne-Marie Concepcion has a video series on Lynda.com for CS5.5:

  • Need help - chronic freezeups when playing streaming flashplayer videos.:

I am having a chronic problem with repeated freezeups of flashplayer videos that are being streamed online where the video repeatedly and randomly locks up for a moment, and then jumps forward to catch up to where it's supposed to be again and again, with no regularity or pattern to it at all.  It doesn't matter which video it is; it doesn't matter where along a video's playback it is; it doesn't matter which website it is.  This problem happens at any time of day, and every single day, at random, regardless.  I've tried everything including reinstalling my Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system from scratch, and then trying streaming flashplayer videos before reinstalling any other software again first - no help.  I tried streaming in Safe Mode; disabling all browser addons; disabling all startup executables; disabling my internet protection software entirely, each in turn - no help.  I always keep Flashplayer, Shockwave player, and Adobe Reader up to date, along with the rest of my PC via Microsoft Windows Update, and any other updates that apply, but I even tried older versions of drivers as well as the very newest ones - no help.  I tried streaming using different video cards - no help.  I tried using an ethernet connection and then a wireless one, separately in turn, as well as connecting to a different network - no help.  I also have Mozilla's Firefox browser installed and fully up to date - the exact same random, constant freezeup problem streaming flashplayer videos happens when using it as when using Internet Explorer.  These freezeups act like the incoming internet stream's feed runs ahead of flashplayer's memory management (rendering?) of it, causing these momentary freezeups while flashplayer buffers, and then jumps forward to catch up again each time.  Please contact me back and provide a corrected update(s) of flashplayer to download so as to play streaming flashplayer videos without this ongoing conflict.  Please note that video files that are downloaded/installed on my hard drive do NOT have playback problems of any kind.  This is only an online streaming problem with flashplayer.  Thank you.

  • I need help with exporting 720p video for youtube.

Hi everyone, I have been using Adobe premeir for almost a year now and I love it, as its very professional and powerful. I used to edit Standard with no problem, then export the full unconverted file (wmv) and run it though Windows Movie Maker to compress it (haha yeah I know its crazy.) Now that I got a camera capable of shooting HDV I want to use it. Im just wondering the following:
1.What format should I export with in Adobe Media Encoder? (Original Raw footage files from Camera are MOV formatted)
2.What should I set the Bitrate to?
3.How do I export to flash without it being to large of a file (Under 200mb's for a 5 minute video) and have it not choppy or pixelated?
4.How do I speed up exporting, how many passes should I do?
5.What overall is the best setup for youtube?
I also noticed a small glitch, and its when I export normally (full size, no compression) and run it though a compressor it cuts out all of the titles, and just flashes them for a milisecond. Its really odd. It only happens when I export in a certain format in which I cannot quite remember. Anyways.. thanks in advance for helping me. Its very appreciated.

This is clearly school work and you need to do it yourself.
The docs on DataPump are at http://tahiti.oracle.com and there are working demos in Morgan's Library at www.psoug.org.

  • Need help. Exporting pdf to Word or cretaing live fields in doc

I need to take a 180pg doc and save it as a word doc or manage to turn all the necessary areas into live fields. I've tried going to export > word document or File > export to anything really and I keep getting this error message
Adobe was unabl;e to make this document accessible becuase of the following error:
Bad PDF; could not read page structure. Bad PDF; error in processing fonts cannot find CMap resource file> [3]
I received this document form a client overseas. I can't get them to resend another copy.
Anyway's I can get around this error? I'm desperate I have 9 other docs with the same amount of page to make live

Sounds that you want to make the PDF files live and then edit them in Word? Why not directly edit them in Adobe Acrobat? It can help directly edit PDF, the conversion is unnecessary. And if you really want to export PDF to Word but the acrobat can help you little, you would try free PDF to Word Converter, which may help you for the conversion. However, I am not sure you would do that work well. Because I am a little confused about the problem you described. Just have a try and it may helps.

  • Need help with exporting video

I hope that you will be able to assist me with my issue. This products has been a learning curve and I am finally down to the end of this project but I am struggling with creating the final product. What I really would like is to create a MP4 or something comparable that can be put on a jump drive and played on any computer. Also, I need to have the menu in the beginning of the DVD instead of the video itself beginning at start up.
    Edited by: Kevin Monahan
Reason: Please make a shorter title for your post.

Not quite sure if you want mp4 just to play on the computer or do you want to make a dvd also.
Mp4 does not come with a menu, under H.264 you will find several presets like HD 1080p.
If you want a menu you have to make a dvd but you need Encore to do so. Encore is a seperate download.
Follow the instructions in the link
Encore CS6 not installed with Creative Cloud
For exporting to dvd you need to make mpeg2-dvd file.
I gather you have never worked with Encore then follow instructions in link below.

  • Need help with Export workflow.

    Hello again.
Today I was experimenting with exporting a project using Export QT Movie and QT Conversion.
My goal is to show a QT project on the web, either 640x480 or 320xx240, depending on how monstrous the file size is.
My initial impression was that export QT Movie simply generates (I'm guessing) a full size rendering of the project. It's icon is a FC icon. What I did then was an "Open with..." quicktime(pro). This is where I get confused: I know that the next steps are for for preparing the project for sizes, compressions and so on. The export to QT movie seems to be a longer route to get to the settings that you need to use in QT Conversion, which after selecting QT conversion, you have the Format, Use, and Options settings.
    Am I right so far?
Some background about my project- Easy setup= DV-NTSC. If I look in my browser, my clips are 720x480, 29.97fps, Compressor(?)DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, pixel aspect ratio, NTSC-CCIR 601 and anamorphic is checked.
I also have still photos motion control stuff, PS tiffs, that do not have anamorphic checked.
Form here on is where I get confused.
Under settings, I am selecting DV/dvc-NTSC for compression frame rate 29.97, medium compressor, scan mode, interlaced, and aspect 4:3.
The filters setting I don't use.
The size setting I'm trying 320x240 with aspect ratio and de interlace video UNCHECKED.
Is this a good workflow for the web. I notice on 640x480 my titles (livetype) seem kind of jagged.
Any help preparing a project for the web would be appreciated. If you need more info let me know.
    Thanks so much.
    Jonathan

Thanks for the additional comments and ideas.
In terms of profile, as I mentioned, the intermediates will be going off to the editor (off-site) for editing on his FCP suite.  I'll stick to working in the prescribed HDTV (Rec. 709) space, and I've given him all the detail I can of how I'm working, but crucially I haven't stood at his edit-suite to see how the stuff looks.
But, he's no newbie, so I'm hoping it'll be OK.
Blasted shame about the H.264 BluRay not being compatible with QT - I thought I had this whole issue beat until that came along.  It's not a matter of disk space here, but the editor is mithering that the intermediates we are testing, in either PNG, or Animation, and a couple of others, are choking his playback.
I'm not sure what to say about that, other than to go down this road of trying to squish these intermediates as low as possible without wrecking the look, hence finding that the DNxHD is providing the best solution.  If it had been a SD project, I might well have tried the native H.264, even over our normal PNG workflow.
So what will play the native H.264 BluRay compressed output?
    Julian.

  • Need help ASAP exporting 1280x720 video as 720x480 letterboxed w/ timecode

Hello. I'm using FCP 6.0.4. I have a video that is 1280 x 720, 24FPS, Sorenson Video 3 compression. I need to add an academy leader to this (the leader video file is 29.97FPS, Apple Motion JPEG A, 720 x 486), add a timecode filter using timecode reader (I know how to do this part), and get the finished video exported as a 720x480, 29.97FPS, DV/DVCPRO - NTSC video with the correct aspect ratio for the original video file. Every time I have tried this so far I get a 720x480 with the timecode but the picture looks stretched horizontally.
Please help with this ASAP as I am a student working on my final project and I've already lost several days trying to figure this out.
    THANK YOU!

Create a standard definition project (In easy setup choose DV or DVCPRO Anamorphic) > copy and paste the HD timeline on the newly created timeline and export.
If in QT player you see a stretched image, don't worry, that is normal when QT plays non-square pixels (anamorphic).
Hit command J (QT Show movie properties) > Click on presentation tab > Conform aperture > Clean or Production.
If this video is not for the web or generally for computers do not save the change as your movie will look absolutely fine when in DVDstudio you'll choose a 16:9 display mode.

  • Need help on exporting oracle users

    Hi,
we currently on oracle ver. 7.3.3 with quite a number of oracle users created. We are in the midst of migrating over to Oracle ver. 8.1.7. We want to preserve the user details, so we don't have to recreate all of them again.
How do I export the users from ver. 7.3.3 over to ver. 8.1.7, preserving the user passwords, profiles, rights, etc?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Mr. Hian,
Take a Full database export from 7.x by connecting as SYS user (with FULL=Y) and import in the same in 8.1.7. Only thing u need to do here is to create all the required tablespaces(tablespaces used in 7.1.x DB) in 8.1.7 DB before importing the Db.
    Hope this helps,

  • Need help with exporting iphoto to dvd

    Hi,
I am trying to export a bunch of albums from iphoto to a brand new dvd-r disc.  I am trying to move the photos to free up more space on the computer. I get the message "there is not enough disk space to complete this operation"  when I try to export just one album (total 826mb).  I still have 870mb free on my HD.   Thanks for your help.

I still have 870mb free on my HD.
You have a major crisis right now and you need to solve it immeadiately.
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD.
Nothing else can be done until you do. Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Burning material to optical disk will not work Creating a disk needs a large amount fo disk space - at least twice the amount you think you need.
But really, you must make space on that HD. You are in grave danger of losing important data.
    Regards
