Oi!
Tried a disk cleanup? To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro. To access the Rescue Mode: remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position and KEEP IT HELD TO "ON" while reinserting the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

  • Need help with Zen Micro and Win

    Hi,
I bought a Zen Micro 2 days ago and I can't get it to work with my Win XP machine.
I did what was told in the manual: install the software first then plug the player.
When I plug the player in I get the following message:
    Found New Hardware:
    Zen Micro
According to the manual, it should be detected and the drivers installed automatically.
But it dosen't. Instead I get the Wizard that try to find the drivers and it dosen't find them.
I let the battery get a full charge and I tried again. Same results.
I tried to update the firmware but since the player is not detected that didn't work.
I also tried to get the new MediaSource/Zen driver (ZENM_PCAPP_LB_4_00_8_PDE.exe) but that didn't fix my problem either.
I also tried to install the Creative Zen Micro Driver version .27.02 but it tell me that I can't install it because the user I tried to install it with is not an administrator. But this is not true since there is only one user on this machine and it's the administrator. First software that tell me this.
I'm using XP Home with SP2.
    Thanks for the help.

The reason it won't install is because the drivers aren't installed.
I've seen a very few others with this strange error about administrati've pri'veleges, so I'm wondering if it's a Windows issue here. You could try downloading the drivers from to see if this is any different.
Try creating another administrator account and see if it will install from that, and try searching back (perhaps someone had found a solution). I think there's also a way of running a program with forced pri'veleges, perhaps Google can turn something up on that.
I remember one user needs to change some rights of the registry in order to install the software. It looks like under some cases, the login account does not have sufficient rights to write registry.

  • Need help with Zen Micro Photo: It stays in recovery m

Just recently, my zen micro photo has been staying in recovery mode. I have tried all of the four options available? to me in recovery mode. .) Clean up 2.) Formatt All 3.) Reload Firmware? 4.) Reboot. When I try "Reload Firmware". It doesn't really "reload". All it does is erase the current firmware, which it has done several times. My computer doesn't really realize the player. It doesn't allow me to acess my songs, which have already been deleted. It says the "Player is not connected". At first, I thought I needed to charge. I charged it to maximmum. The battery is "FULL". Also, the firmware update doesn't recognize the player either. Whenever I select the reboot option, my player reboots to recovery mode. This does no good, as I have tried all of the available options in recovery mode, and they have done no good. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Message Edited by Damaniscool on 04-2-200707:29 PM

  • Need Help Urgently Zen Micro "Firmware Problem&qu

    Hello,
I've had my Zen Micro for a year now and due to a "screw up" when i start my player it displays the error "Firmware Problem" and start up in recovery mode. When I try to reload the firmware the update application on my pc it says "Your player is not connected" now can I fix this so I can start using my wonderful Zen again?
PC Specs If needed: Windows Media Center Service Pack 2

Thanks for the reply, but that firmware download doesn't work for me. As I said in my original post, my player is not recognized as being connected when it is. It is not my computer because Jukebox opens up when it detects the device and it is listed among my removable hardware.
I've downloaded the software, but nothing happens after the "select your language" prompt. It just says "Your player is not connected please connect your player" with a grayed out 'Upgrade' button and a darkened 'Close' button. I've tried unplugging and reconnecting the USB, but it still doesn't recognize that it's there.
Anyone else have an idea?Message Edited by lizzievee on 02-04-2007:29 AM

I have a 5GB Zen Micro and when I try to install my software I get the "Utility for Windows AutoPlay screen has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message.
I'm running XP and have updated Quicktime (that did the trick last time).
Can anyone help? I'm sorry, I did try to go through the FAQ but I didn't see anything and I'm trying to feed my kid and pack for a trip.
    Thanks!

I don't think so but I can't check right now-- I'm on a different computer.
I had the software installed and had to delete it to make space for something. Now I wish I'd never touched it!

  • Dummy needs help with zen mi

I recently purchased a new laptop with widows vista and I had had xp before. My computer tells me that the driver is not supported or rather that the driver is not found. Know i've been searching around for info and i saw that there are many posts on this subject, however most of the post are way to advance for me to understand.. can anybody please explain to me in Dummy language how to get my zen micro to work with the windows vista pleeease and be patient with me im way to dumb for any big computer talk lol thanks for anyone who might help me.

Hi, the answer may not be as simple as you would like ...
Vista needs the Zen (insert older model) to have its firmware changed to Version 2.x which is referred to as MTP or media transfer protocol. If you do this it is a one way change meaning you cannot go back. That could be good or bad depending on a number of things but for simplicity, let's say you only have a Vista computer. You will need to go to MTP firmware. The catch is that you can only do that under a computer running Windows 2K or XP.
So ... find someone with a 2K or XP computer with an open USB port. Browse to Creative.com's download section adn download the Zen drivers (these install onto the computer so that the computer can recognize the Zen Micro), and download the latest ver 2.x firmware for the Micro. Install the drivers and reboot. Then upon restarting plug in the Micro and let Windows do its thing about finding new hardware. Once that is done and OK, run the firmware installer. During this time, do nothing to the computer or the Zen. If the process interrupts you could end up needing to send the player back for a repair.
Let the firmware install and when completed unplug from that computer and go over to your Vista computer. Plug in and you should be able to manage the Zen from Windows Media Player. Or install Creative Media Source 5 and its plug in modules and you will be up and running.
    Good luck!!

You have to create playlists using Creative MediaSource Organizer. Playlists can't be made and named in the ZM. Hope this helps!
You can make playlists on the player also, although it's much harder and there's very little control over editing. See this thread.

  • Need help finding Muvo Micro 1gb in *pi

I am in the UK, quite frankly I'm amazed that they have all these colours and what we get here is black, and white lol. Anyway I am trying to get hold of a gb pink one for gf so any assistance in getting hold of this is appreciated, even if I have to order from america or japan. I know the gb version in japan comes in pink but I need to know if the display will be in english and find a website i can order from to deli'ver to UK, I also think there is a V200 'chameleon' version in america which has changable covers?!?! again would need to find a site to order from, either way I need the cheapest way of getting a gb pink muvo micro.
    Thanks
    DC

yeah I was looking at the zen micros but she likes the muvo micro by far and the new ipod mini second (due to the new 8 our battery life vs creatives claimed 2 hours but actual 6 hours on the zen micro).
I am perfectly willing to import a gb pink muvo micro from japan (having looked around it seems the gb versions only come in black and red in america). However I need to find a site which will allow me to buy the gb pink muvo and have it shipped here, the one site i found, which was in japanese that i translated using babelfish, only allowed me to ship to singapore. I also checked ebay but there are none on there.
If anyone knows of a retailer that I can purchase it from that will ship it to the UK then thats what I will do but I need to sort it very quickly as its a bithday present needed by 6th june. If I cant sort something today I will have to look at the ipod instead.

  • HELP my Zen Micro isn't recognised by my compute

My zen micro plays fine but I cannot connect it to my computer. IT FREEZES!! So I can't add new songs on it. What can I do? I'm afraid to format since I still might not be able to connect it to my computer. And then all I will be left with is a piece of plastic that cost me close to 300$.
    Thanks

    Accommodations,
You need to download and install the respecti've plugin file too before the Organizer can detect the player. First determine the firmware version of your current Zen Micro player. If it's version .xx.xx, you need to get those Zen/Nomad Jukebox Plugin. If it's version 2.xx.xx, then get the PlaysForSure Devices Plugin file.

  • Help! Zen Micro freezed on "Creative" scr

    Hi all,
my Zen Micro has gone crazy... all of a sudden it switched itself on, and it just stays on the "CREATIVE" screen and doesnt do anything.
I cant even update the firmware because it wont connect through the USB.
Also i tried Disk Cleanup and Formatting and everything. but nothing works
It just freezes at those screens.
    Some one please help

if your micro ever freezes, I would just get an RMA to return it to Creative to get a replacement. I did that, and within a week, they mailed me a brand new zen micro which works perfectly fine (ie. no freezing, no errors, no battery loss issues, etc...)...

  • Desperately need help for Zen mi

    Hi all,
Due to some problem my zen micro shows only recovery mode when rebooted. The thing is that when i switched on the player after two to three days of rest It boots in recovery mode. I tried all the options in recovery mode and it does not get out from it. I tired to upgrade the firmware and i suceeded once. I upgraded it to versio 2. from .. After when i rebooted it it is recognized by the system and installs it as a mtp device. But my player still showing only the recovery mode. So i tried again to install the firmware upgrade software so that i can use it again. But the firmware update software is not recognizing the player. I had tried installing driver cd and also the driver download from the net. No suceess. Please please somebody help me. My mom is going to beat me up if she heard about this.
    Thanks in advance.

I had EXACTLY the same problem.... i had to send the zen xtra back... never found out the exact problem, but in my opinion there was a problem with the usb connection on the unit.
I lost pretty much 50gigs worth of music and files
The player would connect but browsing took forever and transfers always timed out

  • HELP! Zen Micro 6GB Firmware prob

My first problem is that my Zen Micro has a firmware problem. After it shows the "Firmware Problem" message it goes to the recovery menu. I've tried "Clean Up" and "Format All" but I am still unable to use my Zen Micro. The second problem is that the firmware upgrading software won't recognize the Zen Micro. I can still sync music to my Zen with Windows Media Player but the program used to update the firmware will not recognize it. I'm running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 on a Toshiba Satellite M40X. I've also tried updating the firmware on another desktop computer running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 but it still will not recognize the Zen Micro. I've tried installing drivers yet the program still won't recognize my Zen Micro. Is there any other way to get the firmware onto my Zen Micro or am I out of luck?

Bump. I sent an e-mail to Creative and they were of no help. They told me to send it in and that I would have to pay for it. Is there any other way to install the firmware, or possibly better drivers that I could download other than the ones from Creative's website.
