I need help operating a Zen N

Happy New Year Everyone!!
My 8-year old got a Zen Nano for Christmas and I am having some technical difficulties. I am downloading music to the player and the player is showing the artist and title, however, the music is not playing on the player. I am stumped because when I connect the player to my PC I am able to hear the music on my computer just fine. I am new at these gadgets and I need some help, fast. Thanks!

Hi, My son also got a Zen nano for Christmas and we were having the same problem. Our problem was the songs we were downloading were the wrong format. The songs had to be MP3 or WMA format to work. I was using itunes but switched to wal-mart music downloads and it seems to work better. Hope this hel
ps.
Good Luck!

Need Help with my ZEN MX9<font face="lucida sans unicode, lucida sans">Hi folks. On my computer I have about 9G of different music, or 52 albums. I can't figure out how to get that music on to the player. To correct myself, I mean I know how to physically/logically copy it over to my player. All of that music is also?on the player in "Music" folder. I have this "Creative Centrale" installed and working. I need step-by-step instructions on how to create a PLAYLIST (I'm guessing), and have the?player play song after song in an album, not randomize the play. I think that is why I created that playlist. Thank You folks For Your Help?

  • I Need Help With My Zen Vision M 30GB Player ASAP

Tonight i had started deleting of my music folders on my creative zen vision m 30gb player and as it was doing that i accidently disconnected the usb cable from the player. After that the player was froze on the docking mode and i hit the reset button with a paper clip. Then after that for some strange reason my computer does not detect my zen vision m player as being connected to the computer. the docked screen appears on my player but the arrows keep spinning and my pc keeps saying found new hardware mtp device and does nothing but repeat that over and over again. I run windows xp pro service pack 2 with windows media player installed. I really need help asap to resolve this issue and have my pc reconize it normal again where i can access my music folders and playlists again.

The core problem is related to Microsoft Windows Media . To resolve the issue, you need to uninstall MWM v from the Add/Remove Programs. Then it will rollback to MWM v9. Unplug the player from the USB port. Reinstall the supplied software from Creative if you need too. Reboot, plug the device into the USB port. Reinstall the device driver for the MP3 player. Reload the latest firmware. The file can be downloaded at

  • Need Help on My Zen Neeo

    Hello All,
I have purchased my Zen i thinks its June this year or July this year. Anyways, everything is working find. But one day when my Zen is connected to the PC, i have received an information that it has a virus so i just healed it. After the incident, my Zen doesnt work properly, I tried updating its firmware but become more disastrous. After i connecting to a PC, when i unplug the device its not turning on. All i could do to play some sounds is to press the "RESET" button. it always work but it shouldn't be like that right ? also when i tried to play some sounds, there are always instances when i cant hear any sound then after a minute or two it will suddenly play some music
    please do help. thanx

A few things that may help. This all assumes your problem is a low battery - it may not be. If your unit plays music without being connected to the PC then your battery is OK and you can ignore this. It also assumes you followed the instructions exactly for installing the software. (Install and reboot BEFORE you connect your Zen etc.) . In order for the PC to Recognize the unit it must have "some" charge on the battery.2. To charge the unit, from a powered USB port on your PC You must install the software that comes with the unit. The software sees the unit (assuming it has some battery charge), then tells the unit to start charging.
    Catch 22.
If the battery is completly dead, how does the software recognize the unit's It can not because the Zen cannot respond to say "here I am") so the software does not start charging.
Creative assumes every unit will have some charge when new. If you play with it before you charge it that may not be true. To charge a completly dead unit you will need a wall charger DESIGNED to charge the Zen V or Zen V Plus. Creative sells one. A few other vendors sell chargers but BEWARE. You must have a very special charger that supplys the right signal to enable the charging. Verify the charger will charge the Zen V.
See my previous post re the whole charging story.Creative has Created a disaster with this and other units regarding charging. A simple explanation in their manuals would help a lot.
Not sure an ipod would be any better with a dead or weak battery.Send them a support request (their web site support area) and complain - not that that will help.

  • I need help with my Zen Vision M.. PLEASE HELP

Hey, I'm having sooo much trouble with my Zen Vision M... so i was wondering if anyone could help me out.. i hav a couple of ?s that i desperately need answered. . All of my album art is the same and its driving me crazy. How do i change the album art?2. Is the battery in the Vision M removable?3. Can Zen Vision M shuffle songs?4. I used to have an Ipod.. i was wondering if?i could directly transfer songs from itunes to Zen MediaSource?~~~~~~~~~?Any help will be really helpful! Especially if?someone can help me with the album art!! THANKS GUYS!!

. All of my album art is the same and its driving me crazy. How do i change the album art???Not an easy answer for this one without knowing more about how you are setting the album art.
There are two types of album art embedding.
One is where the album art is embedded directly in the tags of every Mp3 file. (a bit waste of space)? The second option (which is the more common method) is where each file has embeded information pointing to an external image for the album art. This is more efficient on space, and is often the one that end up with people having the same art on every song.
Usually what happens is people put the songs in a common directory and not in subdirectories such as Artist/Album/mysong.mp3. With all the files in one flat directory often the album art (depending on software) gets saved with the same filename such at album.jpg.
And he album.jpg file gets overwritten, and since all the songs think "their" album art is in the album.jpg file they all end up with the same art being displayed.
Easiest solution is to copy the files into folders to organize them by album, and then reapply the album art.
Since doing that on my ZVM I haven't had any problems with art getting lost or duplicated in ways I did not want. ?2. Is the battery in the Vision M removable???Unfortunatly it isn't.
?3. Can Zen Vision M shuffle songs???There are several random play options for music.
In my opinion doesn't really feal that "random" though. 4. I used to have an Ipod.. i was wondering if?i could directly transfer songs from itunes to Zen MediaSource??You will need to export them to MP3 from itunes. Checkout the Creative KB on how to do it. Its solution ID 4653.

  • NEED HELP!! - ZEN TOUCH ISS

over the past week or two my zen touch seems to be slowly in decline?*sigh?firstly, when i load it up onto my computer, about 25%-30% of my files are shown as non-files (as in, they're there, but i can't do anything to them....as if they're corrupted)?then, there are songs that just won't load, they take forever to load up?and now my playlists won't load and now, as of last night, my playlists are empty?do i dare format it's is there another way?please help!

Sounds like it was running a disk cleanup. The tag data is obviously held within the files, and the Music Library on the player is built from this. If you change this data on the player directly it only affects the Music Library, it isn't written back to the file (and what you've described clearly demonstrates this, which is of interest). Bottom line is, always check your file tag data is correct *before* downloading to the PC.
<SPAN>-<SPAN> If I let the battery completely die before I get a chance to recharge it, will I loose any music?
No. It's not good to leave a Lithium Ion battery discharged for a couple of weeks or more, so make sure to recharge it at the earliest opportunity. More battery advice in my Nomad Primer.
<SPAN>-<SPAN> If I use the reset feature on my Zen Touch will that cause me to loose any data?
    No, only your settings.
I know that Im asking a lot of questions. Sorry about that.<SPAN> Thanks in advance for any help?
No problem, that's what the forum is all about

  • Need help with my Zen Touch. I have no clue what's wro

I downloaded some firmware a few weeks ago, and ever since then my Zen Touch hasn't been working properly. My current is version .0.03. As soon as I downloaded that my computer would not detect the player. When I plugged it in the USB I got three quick low pitched beeps, and then nothing. Since the player isn't connectng to my computer of course I can't transfer any music. I've tried to get it to connect a million times but it's always the same. I evn tried it on another computer so I'm guessing something's wrong with the player itself.
Can anyone hel me please?Message Edited by Shart780 on 02-4-2006 08:09 AM

because they are needed to detect your player, that is!
just try it out, you'll do no harm by doing so

  • Need help with using Zen V Plus in a

I have a Zen V plus 2GB and I'd like to use it in my car with a FM transmitter/charger combination. The one I bought says it works with Creative zen MP3 players, but will not charge the player even though it has a USB with 5 VDC as output. It does play the player through the FM reciever just fine. I also noticed that I can only charge the player through the very same USB port on my computer where I first connected it when I was setting it up. Any other of the USB ports will not charge the player. Does this have something to do with this problem?

    Hello al9spike,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
I'm not sure when you said "reset and play while plugged in" is the same as resetting the device by inserting a paper clip in the reset hole while plugged in. If not, then you can try this. There is a also a similar thread here with the same problem your experiencing right now. Maybe this could help you. Otherwise, if the unit is still not turning on, I suggest you contact support for further assistance.
    Best of luck,

  • I need help with my Zen v P

I just bought this for my son last night. I charged it last night and I went to rip some CD's this morning. I let it by the computer and came back. Now I can't get the thing to turn back on. I tried pulling it back in to charge it and nothing. Please help, it's his birthday present and he is going to be crushed if something happened to it. TIA

Did the player turn on at all after you left it overnight?
When it is plugged in to the USB port, can you see a blue light fading up & down once every few seconds behind the Play & Back keys? It's very dim - you need to be in a dark room to see it. If the light is there it probably means the battery is completely flat. If so it needs to charge for an hour or so before the display will show the battery charging icon.
Do you have power saving enabled on the PC? Could it have gone to standby overnight? If so, the player won't charge - it may just turn on and flatten the battery.
What sort of computer is it's What OS does it have? If it's a Windows machine it needs XP-SP2 & WMP0 or , or Vista. The ZVP needs to be recognised by the PC to charge properly.

  • I Need Help With My Zen Mic

I don't know what is wrong. I have a Creative Zen Micro 6 GB. I received it as a gift a couple Christmases back. One day I went to turn it on to listen to it and it said that it was on Recovery Mode. Then it had a list that looked something like this.
    Creative Zen Micro v0.0.65
    1. Clean Up
    2. Format All
    3. Reload Firmware
    4. Reboot
That was about fi've or six months ago, and I still haven't been able to fix it. I went to reboot it, and it just went back to the same screen. I did the clean up, and I know I deleted all my songs and stuff because I hit the Format All. I went to Circuit City to see if they could help and they said to go to the website and download the firmware, but when I did, it said there were no firmware updates.
If anyway could help I would be really greatfull. I would hate to have to buy a stupid iPod.
    -Ariel

It's either the v.0 firmware, or v2.0 firmware. Mine's running 2.0, and the recovery menu says v0.0.65. I don't know if the v.0 will show something different.
You should be running Windows XP, and preferably have Windows Media Player 0. People have reported problems with WMP. Some have reported problems when running Service Pack 2. To check your service packs, go to Start > Run > winver It will say "Windows XP 5.._________ (Service Pack __)"
If you're running v firmware (Requires Creative MediaCenter), ensure that MediaCenter (or whatever it's called) is installed properly.
If you're running v2 firmware, having that software installed can sometimes mess things up.
If you have access to a second computer, I'd strongly recommend that. Try this: Start up your Zen, keep the backlight ali've, and watch very carefully. Does it say "Firmware Problem" for a split second before cutting to the recovery menu? Turn it off and back on, but hold the back of the player against your ear, or someone with good hearing. Do you hear the microdri've spin up?
