I need help picking the correct power supply for my HP Pavilion a1000

Hello,
I need to replace my power supply on my HP Pavilion a1000.  It currently has the original (A Bestec Model: ATX-300-12Z CDR.  The HP P/N is 5188-2625.
I found one on ebay that has the same numbers but instead of CDR, it says DDR.  I don't really know what that means.  The listing is below.  Will this work?  If not, could you give me a link that would work?
Thanks ahead of time for your help!!

Hi,
Yes the PSU will be ok. It's a desktop so you don't have to use exactly the same PSU. It can be even more powerful but make sure there are all compatible connectors. It looks like the CDR version is only 300W and the DDR 400W. The connectors are the same..

    Suggestions and recommendations very appreciated.

It will take almost any 2.5 inch sata drive.
Take a look at www.newegg.com and www.macsales.com to see what's out there and how much it costs.
Toshiba have a 320gb 2,.5 inch drive in the works, but it's not quite out yet and will be expensive.

  • I need help to replace my power supply for the hp pavilion elite m9510f

This computer has given me many problems since I bought it in '09. From graphic card fan issues, a hard drive crash, and now the power supply has failed.
I did the blow dryer trick but it still ends up breaking a week later. I want to know what new power supply should I buy. One that will be able to fit in the hp pavilion elite m9510f and is an upgrade to the 350w that it has. Maybe somthing under 60-70 dollars if possible. Thanks for any help.

It appears to be a normal case and motherboard.  A normal ATX supply should work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=50001333&IsNodeId=1&Description=Computer...
Just an example of what is availble, but most any should work as long the physical dimensions match the one installed now.

  • Clarification of the correct Power Supply for a FW800 1.25GHz?

    Hi,
I have a G4 FW800 1.25GHz. Should the Power Supply installed in this Mac be rated at 400w or a 360w? I bought this 2nd hand & I'm wondering if someone has swapped the new for the old?? The Power Supply details are: Samsung PSCF401601A (C) REV. A. Total Output 400w. Apple PN 614-0183. I thought the 400w versions were from the original MDD models?
If this is the old, loud PS, should I look at replacing the 2 fans inside the PS (if the fans are the sole culprit of the noise emitting from the PS) or try to have it replaced with a 360w PS?
The CPU fan (under the Optical Drive) is a PAPST Multifan 4212H. I read from a previous post that this fan can be replaced with another fan such as this one from Frozencpu.com - http://www.frozencpu.com/products/4274/fan-235/SilenX120x120x38mm_-_18dBA_-_90CFM_iXtrema_Pro_FanIXP-76-18.html?tl=g33c165s358
Is this going to reduce the noise in my particular FW800 Mac considering I have the APST Multifan 4212H already?
Also, can anyone recommend a specific PCI slot cooler which works fine in this machine?
Finally, there's a lot of talk about enabling Nap. I'm running 10.5.7. Is this still okay?
I've spent a lot of time reviewing the posts here, but I'm still unsure, so I would appreciate anyone's time to respond?
    Kind Regards
    Mark.
    Australia.

Does anyone no by chance if there is an upgrade for the PS on a FW 800 dual 1.42 besides this loud 400W one you're discussing. I've got the 360W PS right now and since upgrading the AGP video card to the ATI 9600 MAC/PC edition with 256mb I've been experience kernel panics every time I use the computer. Put the old ATI 9000 with with 64mb back in and the machine runs fine even using Final Cut 6 and multiple programs. Maybe it's just that this video card is buggy. Haven't been able to find any help in forums or through AMD. Because the card doesn't have a fan i thought it might be overheating the system possibly too. Any ideas anyone?

  • Need help on the correct directory extract structure for SP15 .SAR files

    Hi all,
With the help of many here I have been able to finally download all the SP15 files I need for my EP 6.0 on WAS 6.40.  I am currently on SP11 for both EP and WAS and want to move up to SP15.
I downloaded all the .SAR files and did SAPCAR -xvf all from within a temp directory I created.  Yes, some of the LABEL.ASC files were being overwritten.
After all the extracts, I ran SAPINST and it did start, but unlike when I ran SP11, I had options for KM, EP, Tools, etc.  This time it only presented me with options for the WAS and the first option was "Import Support Package 15" (with the other options being for dialog instances).  There was nothing about EP, Tools, KM, etc.
I ran the Import option and it completed successfully.  I then thought it either did everything or if I reran it the other options (for EP, KM, etc.) would now show up.  Of course, I was wrong.
So where am I exactly going wrong regarding extracting all the .SAR files into the proper directory structure so that SAPINST runs correctly?
    Please help if you can.
    Many thanks,
    Mike

    Hello Mike,
I think you extracted the files for the J2ee engine. Generally you will have a different SAPINST for Portal. Please refer the stack guide for SPS15 Page 22 for the files you need and the procedure to apply it.

  • X300 - Need help finding the correct internal DVD Burner

I want to buy and install an internal DVD burner, which I am unable to identify on the Lenovo website.  The only internal Ultrathin DVD burners I find fit the x200 series, but nothing for the x300 series.  Frustrating.
    Mine is a Thinkpad x300, Type 6477, and S/N L3-xxxxx.
Anyone able to help me identify the correct part number?
    Thanks!
Moderator Note; s/n edited for members own protection

. . . thanks for the part IDs, lead_org. . . . took your advice and searched ebay for both, but nothing surfaced. . . . so, I entered the parts numbers into Lenovo's Websales site and was unable to find any such part listings for sale anywhere . . . nothing. . . . then, I emailed Lenovo Websales about it . . . they promptly replied that the parts were not in stock, and that I could try purchasing from www.cdw.com . . . I can understand if Lenovo did not have them in stock, but that they would not even LIST the parts was weird. . . . this is a 1-1/2 year old machine . . . are the lifecycles for laptops these days so short that they are unsupported even this fast? . . . I did see a few other sites selling the replacement DVD as new (presumably) for US$300, but none were in stock. . . . if I have no other alternatives, is a DVD the sort of part that is durable enough to reliably purchase used? Thanks!

  • Need Help Entering the Correct Data on Site Setup Window

    [DW CS5 on a Mac OS 10.7.5]
I get an "FTP Error Message" after entering data on the Site Setup window after pressing Test.
I want to upload to my host/server's cPanel one of a number of subdirectories that I have on my root directory. My first attempt at uploading the first subdirectory failed. Can someone help me determine which of my Site Setup entries is incorrect and what the correct entry ought to be?
Perhaps I'm entering incorrect data in the "Root Directory" or Web URL" fields. My host server has given me the correct data, which I've carefully entered. Unfortunately, my testing on the Site Setup window continues to get this message: "An FTP error occurred — cannot open server folder /public_html/alaska/. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem." Support staff at my host/server cannot determine why the uplaod attempts fail.
I'll appreciate your guidance. Thanks, very much.

Brett, thanks for your prompt e-reply.
Unfortunately, removing the entry from DW's Root Directory field enabled a successful test, however, it caused all uploaded files to wind up in my very large root directory.     ( :-(      I had to do a lot of file management and deletions to clean up the root directory.
My numerous approaches, after receiving your suggestion, appear to have found a successful workaround. Here's what worked:
-- While in cPanel's File Management window, I selected the "/public_html" folder in the left column and clicked "New Folder" from the top toolbar. Once the new subdirectory folder was created, I went directly to the DW app where I then clicked the icon (atop and to the far right of the Files panel) subtitled "Expand to show local and remote sites".
-- With DW's expanded window open, I selected the new folder name in the left half of the window. I then dragged and dropped all the files that were in the right-column's subdirectory's folder to the new folder in the left column.
-- After completing the drag and drop effort, I checked cPanel's File Management window and verified that all files went to the appropriate subdirectory folder.
-- Finally, I opened the site's pages online to see that all worked as intended.
Over all, I wish DW were more reliable, such that when testing setups for *subdirectories* that have "/public_html" in the "Root Directory" field, they will *all* test successfully.
Sadly, Adobe no longer supports CS5.    (  :-(
Nevertheless, thanks for your assistance, Brett.

  • Wrong Songs on iTunes need help getting the correct ones.

I just purchased the album "The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect" by Todd Rundgren and two of the songs are different from the title of that iTunes has in the store. They are "Drive" which is playing as "Bang the Drum All Day" and "Hidawy" which is actually "Compasion" that is from a different album from the same artist. If you preview it on the iTunes store it is this way also. How can I get this corrected and either get a credit or the correct song?

The mac version of Premiere will not export as .wmv so I chose the only setting that would allow me said custom resolution and I intended to just convert the file once it was set.
The original source was .jpeg's and a .m4v video

Thanks again for the reply (from some time ago!). I hope to get a reply from you based on my following simplification of how I intend to use my backup. No...I haven't moved forward on my decision of what/how to conduct my backups!
    1) I prefer to use a single backup device for each computer
    2) I would like to be able to create DVDs of movies, and (if time becomes an issue) do a backup of the DVD
How would you modify your suggestion(s) to me based on these changes?
    Thanks!
OK, were I starting from scratch, I would go with the docking station from the OWC link.  (I think the price has actually come down $20 since my original post!  Man, I love pricing on electronics stuff!)  You can easily move it from one computer to another and bare drives are cheaper to purchase and easier to store.   If you want a full-time device for each computer, I would probably still recommend the docking station, especially with the price falling like it is.
IMHO, the best storage solution for bare drives is this box from Wiebe Tech, which is sturdy ESD plastic and nearly as compact as the 3.5 inch drive.  My backups rotate through a safe deposit box that can hold a bunch of them, though I usually have only two offsite at any one time.
For DVD backups, I have in the past imaged DVDs using Disk Utility, which works out nicely, especially when I need to burn more copies.  And you can just mount the image of a video DVD and DVD player comes up and you can watch from the hard drive.

  • I need help choosing the correct Photo Shop product for my needs.

I sell items on Ebay, my photos are often blurry, have shadows or do not show fine details. How do I know which photo shop product is best for my needs?

I agree with Silkrooster's answer, however I will also say that starting by taking a "good" photo will help you a ton, even before you bring it into a photo editor. It may just be that you need to create a makeshift lighting setup (to avoid problematic shadows), or try taking your photos with a tripod (to avoid blurring).
Here is a link with some really great tips to help you with product photography.
I would also recommend that you check out Adobe Lightroom, which is a program created specifically for photographers. Below is a video showing how a photo can be vastly improved in 5 minutes! I hope you find this helpful.
