  • I need Help Setting Up Wireless Router WRT54G on NTL

Hi, I've managed to setup a few home wireless networks in my time but I'm having problems with this. My gf's ISP is NTL and it is connected via a cable modem (rather than the set top). I registered my laptop using the installation software and the internet connection is working fine. I attempted to setup the router and I could connect to it, however I could not connect to the internet through the router. Previously with other routers I found an option where you could input the user/pass so that the router was automatically connected to the service, but I could not find this option. Does anyone who has setup this wireless router with an NTL setup / or anyone at all have any idea how I go about setting it all up?
    Thanks in advance

I also found this thread which helps by showing when to clone the MAC address.
Using run cmd from XP's start menu and typing ipconfig /all will show the MAC address of your machine's NIC card, if you need it.

  • I need help picking a wired router

im tired of bringing my computers modem upstairs everytime i wanna go on xbox live because then when my sis or mom needs to use the internet i have to bring it back downstairs so i wanna have a really good wired router i can keep upstairs in my room so i need help picking one

The reason gaming and wireless don't work is because wireless does not transfer large packets of information which is what gaming uses. The best thing to do if you want wireless is to get a gaming router they will send larger packets of information and they also have dual ban gaming routers which will allow you to set up to where you can connect on one signal and your mom or sister on another it will make it much better for all of you in the long run.

  • Need help replacing a Netgear router with my old used wrt54g from another house.

I had a WRT54G at my old house that was working great. Now the renters moved out and I got the router back. I have been having some issues with the netgear router Im using now so I would like to replace it with the Linksys. How do I do this? Do I need to hit the reset button? What do I set the settings at and how do I set up security so others can't access my network.

    Whoaw! Take it easy Ragnar....
It is easy to setup the router with your existing network. I'd like to know your ISP. In a way, you can have the router set up manually according to your ISP settings, whether it is cable or DSL.
For setting up the wireless to be secured, you can check this link.
    for heads up! <<<call_me_jam_>>>

  • Need help to setup my file server

I've got this old G3 which I need to setup in the office so it serves files for remote work from home. The G3 is behind a DSL modem (Alcatel SpeedTouch 530i) which connects by Ethernet cable to my AirPort Extreme Base Station. G3 picks up wi-fi signal from AEBS.
From outside the office I need to be able to go to an internet address and log into my G3 and work on a file, then save the changes back on the G3 for other colleagues to do the same.
I understand that I have to do some port-forwarding, both on the Alcatel and on the AEBS, only I don't know the details. Could some genious help? I am good at following instructions, by the way.
    Many thanks, guys.

I take it that I need to forward port number 20. Or is it 21, as well? The G3 will host work files which colleagues will have to have access to from over the internet.
I changed the G3's TCP/ID addy from DHCP to manual, and entered the one that was assigned to it anyway (10.0.1.2 on subnet 255.255.255.0).
Router addy has remained the same (10.0.1.1).
Then I went into my Alcatel's config page in Safari, and clicked Advanced, then NAPT. I clicked on 'New', then was presented with the following options to setup:
    Protocol: TCP or UDP;
    Inside IP;
    Outside IP;
    Inside port;
    Outside port.
The Alcatel modem's address is (as shown in its config page's SystemInfo window): X1.X2.X3.X4/32 (Xs stand for actual numbers of course).
What do I do next? Do I set for the New Port Forwarding as follows?
    Protocol: TCP
    Inside IP: 10.0.1.2
    Outside IP: X1.X2.X3.X4
    Inside port: 20
    Outside port: 20
Please bear with me. I can learn. Many thanks.

  • Need help on setting up router

Hi, I have a WRT54G wireless G router. I have a problem connecting to the internet through the router. If I connect an internet cable directly from my modem to my laptop, the internet works fine. If I connect the modem to the router and the router to my laptop, the message on my computer says 'limited or no connectivity'. I have set to detect IP and DNS automatically on my laptop.
Even when I use the linksys EasyLink, it says it does not support my router. In the router setup page, the setting is set to 'Automatic DHCP'. Why is the problem? Can anyone help me? Thanks!

You just need to set one up and everyone uses that password to connect to your network.

  • Urgent :need help to setup Master to snapshot(read only) environement

    Hi,
I need your help urgently. I don't know much about master to Snapshot configuration. I need to do prototype of master to snapshot(read only) as soon as possible. I need replication setup/configuration scripts.
DB1 is master database (8i) and DB1 is Snapshot site db.
both dbs are identical except they have different Global_name.
I want to replicate table from DB1---> DB2 unidirectional.
Global name for DB1 is DB1.world and for DB2 is DB2.world
TNS names are DB1 and DB2 respectively and TNSNAMES.ORA file is same on both server.
Schema owner of Mster site (who owns the tables that I want to replicate) is user 'SYNAPSE'. On DB2 I have also same schema with same tables. Lets say table called 'TEST' that I want to replicate from DB1 to DB2.
for simplicity I want to have only one account(user) on both site who can do administration and take care of all other task including replication.
I need scripts to do setup for the replication environment described above.
In short please provide me script to replicate DB1 to DB2 (Master to snapshot).
I appreciate your help very much.
You can reach me at [email protected] as well.
    Thank you.
    Pravin

Finally I figured out how to setup/configure master to Snapshot environment but I have to say that Oracle documents are very confusing.
The problems I ran into are:
User Repadamin can't create MV in schema owner other than repadmin. Work arround I used is let that schemema owner allow to create MV.
Other proble ran in is Constraint(FK) violation when trying to do using refresh group. To resolve this problem either disable constraints on snapshot site or create constraints usinf deferred option.

  • Idiot needs help!  Setup Home Oracle Linux Server

I'm trying to setup a Linux server using an old PC. I can download Oracle Linux in a zipped file from Oracle. Then, I'm suppose to unzip using an Oracle supplied utility and burn the extracted files to a DVD. My client PC is running Vista Home. I'm a little confused on how I unzip the "Linux" files and burn them to a DVD. I would think this should all be done in a Linux environment/(or on a Linux box) - this is what I'm trying to setup. How do I get the ISO IMG files extracted and burned for a Linux boot cd? If it sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about, you're right - I don't.
    HELP!
    Edited by: 899355 on Nov 27, 2011 11:38 AM

Most PC's come with DVD/CD authoring software installed, like Nero or MagicISO maker, etc. What software do you have available? There is plenty of information available in Google about how to burn an iso image to dvd. Or you could check http://www.wikihow.com/Burn-ISO-Files-to-DVD. Whatever you choose, make sure to burn the raw ISO image and NOT the disk of the "mounted" .ISO image. I would also recommend 7-zip to unzip the downloaded files.
In case you are installing this for educational or development purpose and your PC has at least 4 GB of RAM you may consider to use free Oracle VirutalBox from http://www.virtualbox.org. It can boot and use saved .iso files without the need to burn media. This option will not jeopardize your Windows installation and allow you to run Linux as a Guest OS under your current Windows OS, when you need it. Don't fumble around with old fashioned dual-boot options - it's better to get some more cheap RAM and bigger disk if necessary. There are also pre-build virtual machines available at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html

  • Need help reconnecting my BEFW11S4 router..please! :)

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the problem that I'm having right now.
I've had a Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Router for more than a year now and so far, nothing's been wrong with it. Just last night, my DSL wouldn't connect so I called my internet provider (Frontier) and we got it to work but only after I disconnected the router. The guy on the phone said that the router was part of the problem and that I would need to call Linksys and have them guide me through setting it back up. He also said I'd need to change some of the settings. When I called, the Linksys lady said that I would need to pay money for them to help me, but I could use their free internet resources. So I tried reconnecting the router but it didn't work. So I'm stumped. I haven't a clue what to do. Could someone please help? Thank you so much.
Oh I have Windows XP in case you need to know.

1)connect the computer to the router's port 1
2)access the router ui using http://192.168.1.1 . the default login password is "admin"..
3)on the set up page , select the internet connection type as "PPPoE" ..
4)Enter the username and password provided by Frontier...the username should be like [email protected]
    5)save the settings
6)connect the modem to the router's internet port
    7)do a power cycle
8)on the router web ui , go to the "status" tab and check whether the login status is connected ..
9)if yes, there should be a valid internet ip address and you should be online
10)if not, then you need to bridge the modem ..

  • Need help on setup environment

    Hello all,
I downloaded Coherence 3.5.3 and installed in a cluster of 4 Linux boxes. My goal is to setup a cluster with 4 DistributedCache servers and test the performance to see how fast this cluster can run.
    - Linux box: Intel Xeon dual core, 8GB memory
    - First step: I followed the instruction from:
    http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH35UG/Create+and+Use+Coherence+Caches
And create a Java application which has a loop of 500000 put(), ran it as a Distributed Cache server (localstorage=true) and no other server running. The result was more than 30000 put() per second.
    - Second step: I ran one sample cache server (/bin/cache-server.sh) and ran my application as a client (localstorage=false), and the result went down to around 2000 put() per second.
    * I tried to change:
    - thread-count: 0 - 16
    - backup-count: 0 - 1
    - server & client: on same node, on different nodes.
    - also ran my application as a server, on the same node, on the different nodes.
The result was still around 2000 put()/second.
I am trying to figure out why the performance going from 30k down to 2k/second. I probably did not have the right setup here.
Any help, suggestions are much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Duc

When runing all in a single JVM there is no communication going on (keys and values are as far as I know still serialized however). But as soon as you use more than one JVM (even if they are on the same machine) you will add a significant overhead (latency) to each put request by going through the OS communication stack.
You can verify this in several ways:
    * Try using bulk put requests (say 1000 items at the time) - this should improve your performance (measured in how long it takes to insert say 50000 items) since the number of calls to the communication stack is reduced
    * Try increasing the number of threads in the client until you see no further improvement (this should increase performance since multiple requests can be in progress in parallel)
In order to get more comparable numbers when going from a single JVM to multiple JVMs you should keep backup count to zero - otherwise all data is sent to two JVMs rather than one making the difference between the two scenarios even larger!
    Best Regards
    Magnus
P.S In general ity is also better to use putAll (even for a single item!) since it does not require the remote cache to return the old value (unless you really need the old value for some reason of course!). In your case the old value is always null (I supose you insert new objects all the time with unique keys) so this advantage will not play a big role but if the old object is large the added overhead is significant!

  • Need help regarding Cisco 1841 Router

hello everyone , i am need of help regarding configuring of   FE 0/1 port. our company have a cisco 1841 router. The serial 0/0/0 is connected with VSAT for internet. The FE 0/0 is connected to switch(LAN) through which net connectivity is provided to all users. Recently a new VSAT has been installed at our site, with different IP series. So every time we want to switch between the two net connectivity we need to change the entire IP configuration of all users, which in turn prohibits the users from accessing the printers, data servers etc which are been set to our existing IP series. So, my idea was to configure the FE 0/1, so that just by changing the DNS will help us providing internet along with all other devices without changing the entire IP series. The new VSAT modem has a lan cable which can be connected to FE 0/1. Can any one help out in solving the problem. Our existing IP series is 192.168.3.1..... and the new VSAT series is 10.205.74.1......

Do I understand correctly that you will have 20 remote users who will telnet to the 2511 and from the 2511 will use reverse telnet to access the console of router1, router2, router3, etc which have their console ports connected to async ports of the 2511? If that understanding is correct then the firewall only needs to open TCP port 23 for telnet. The other ports (2001, 2002, etc) are between the 2511 and router1, router2, etc and will not be seen by the firewall. If my understanding is not correct then please clarify.
I do not believe that you will find an image for the 2500 that supports SSH.

  • Need help in setup vpn with IGMP enabled !

    hi all
i hve cisco 2901 router and i want to setup vpn that allow IGMP ,
can somebody help me with it or at least sample configuration ?
can it be done from http gui ? or it is mandatory from cli ?
    regards

    Hello,
So you plan to send multicast traffic over the tunnel?
It could be possible to do it via both ways, thing is is harder to get assistance via GUI as for example I have no access to any router. I reply based on commands that I remember so CLI is a must.
I would recommend using a GRE tunnel to send the Multicast traffic through it
