Hello. My touchsmart 310-1020 does not start. When you push the start button ,the button starts a blue light and make a noise like is starting buts does not start. I have a black screen. Thanks

Hello BelindaFF,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how your desktop does not power on with a blank screen, and I would be happy to guide you towards a resolution!
Since the computer does indicate with a blue light a power up sequence, I recommend following this document on when the Screen is Blank after Starting the Computer. This should help restore the display on your desktop. If the issue persists, please call our technical support at 1-800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • TouchSmart 310 1020 touchscreen issues

My TouchSmart 310 1020 has touchscreen issues. Only part of the screen will work, the rest of the screen doesn't recognize touch commands. Specifically, the only part of the screen that will work for touch is the bottom left quarter, the rest of the screen doesn't work. I tried to clean it, I also ran the calibration utility to no avail. With the calibration utility, when the target would move out of the useable area I was unable to touch the targets. I also reset the calibration settings to no avail.
Do touchscreens partially stop working? Should I replace the screen or is there a simpler solition?

I have an HP TouchSmart 320-1030 that I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I have had similar issues at various times.
    1. Believe it or not, some of the calibration issues I experienced in the past  were actually caused by Microsoft's calibration tool! Undoing the calibration helped. To do that:
Move the mouse pointer to the lower left corner of the screen, right-click, and select Control Panel from the menu.
    Click Hardware and Sound.
    Click Tablet PC Settings.
On the Display tab of Tablet PC Settings, click Reset (if the Reset button is grayed-out, that means there is no data to undo.)
When prompted, click Yes to allow Microsoft's Digitizer Calibration Tool to make changes to your computer.
    2. To get my touch screen to work after upgrading to Windows 8, I had to disable my graphics card.
You will find the instructions on how to do that  in this HP support document (the fourth set of instructions under Touch screen doesn't work after upgrading to Windows 8):

  • Use laptop as second monitor for hp touchsmart 310-1020

Product name: HP TouchSmart 310-1020 PC.
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Can I use my laptop as a second monitor for my HP? It doesn't have an hdmi port, so is there any software or converters someone suggests?

Sorry to say, but it won't be possible - any video ports on your notebook will be output only.
Actually that's not what the OP asked, and it's incorrect since you're not answering the question he asked. There are software packages out there that will let the OP do what they want between multiple PCs. Multiplicity by Stardock is a quick example http://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/ and it's only $30

  • Mystery port or thing on back of Touchsmart 310-1020?

Okay, this is probably a dumb question, but what is the port or thing on the back of my Touchsmart 310-1020, located just above the Ethernet port?   It is not shown in any of the documentation.  It looks like a black plastic screw, but it has a logo next to it with a couple of arrows and what appear to be three discs (like CDs).   Is this a port or just an access screw?

Sounds like it might be the screw that lets you access the hard-drive that's inside the computer. As far as I've seen on various electronic equipment, screws that have arrows pointing to them usually indicate that by loosening those screws, you can get access to user-serviceable parts inside the enclosure.
This manual describes how to get to the hard drive: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02525253.pdf and it includes pictures of a screw located above the ethernet port.

anyways i have installeed a new windows 7 and updated on the microsoft website
i did try to recover my deleted partition and information on my HD but the discs would not work so i had to go to www.Hp.com/support  and download the drivers for my computer
what i didn't find was the magic desktop software that came pre installed and HP Touchsmart program that was pre installed
and a load of other software thats was on when i bought my system
what i need to know and need help with  is how do i get these pieces of software back ?
any help is greatly appreciated  contact  [email protected]

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the computer in question. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The only way to "get these pieces of software back", is to recovery your computer to a factory like state using the HP Recovery Discs you should have created when you first setup your computer. If you didn't create this discs, it may be possible to order a set from HP for a minimal cost.
    Please send KUDOs

  • Touchsmart 310-1020 screen flicker

My computer screen is flickering. I can see whats on it and everything works but it just looks like a strobe light is on my screen. I've tried updating/reinstalling drivers. Also the only option for refresh rate is 60 htz, so I can't change it. Any help would be great.

    IwannaPunchMyPC,
With that being said it is a hardware issue, especially if it’s flickering on the setup screen. It could possibly be the screen or perhaps the inverter.

Have you looked at the http://www.iversal.com adapter? you just use that and any standard VESA wall mount with it.

  • No Video on Touchsmart 310-1205la

I have no video on this Touchsmart 310-1205la.  It turns on and blue light on switch remains constant with no flashes.  I changed the Procesor and Memory and still no video.  I flashed the Bios on the board by placing the Jumper on 7 and 8 then back to 1 and 2 and still no video.  In the past any of these would have restored the video so what else could it be wrong with this video on this PC.

    Hi LightningMike,
I understand you have no video on your Touchsmart 310-1205la. Can you play a DVD movie? Is it a link to a video that is not playing?  Can you see YouTube videos? Here is a document on resolving DVD and Blu-ray movie problems.

The hard drive failure message "hard disk failure is imminent" indicates that the hard drive has failed or is about to fail. You will need to replace the hard drive with a like capacity hard drive to solve this issue.
You may need to use the HP Recovery Media, you created when you first setup your computer, to return the computer to a factory like state. If you didn't create your HP Recovery Media, please contact official HP Customer Support in your region / country, via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your computer. • Need help to draw a graph from the output I get with my program please

    Hi all,
I please need help with this program, I need to display the amount of money over the years (which the user has to enter via the textfields supplied)
on a graph, I'm not sure what to do further with my program, but I have created a test with a System.out.println() method just to see if I get the correct output and it looks fine.
My question is, how do I get the input that was entered by the user (the initial deposit amount as well as the number of years) and using these to draw up the graph? (I used a button for the user to click after he/she has entered both the deposit and year values to draw the graph but I don't know how to get this to work?)
    Please help me.
The output that I got looked liked this: (just for a test!) - basically this kind of output must be shown on the graph...
The initial deposit made was: 200.0
After year: 1        Amount is:  210.00
After year: 2        Amount is:  220.50
After year: 3        Amount is:  231.53
After year: 4        Amount is:  243.10
After year: 5        Amount is:  255.26
After year: 6        Amount is:  268.02
After year: 7        Amount is:  281.42
After year: 8        Amount is:  295.49
After year: 9        Amount is:  310.27
After year: 10        Amount is:  325.78
After year: 11        Amount is:  342.07
After year: 12        Amount is:  359.17

The above is also good.Sorry but you need to look a bit more closely at URLs that you cite. What the OP wants is a chart (as in X against Y) not a graph (as in links and nodes) . 'jgraph' deals with links and nodes.
The best free charting library that I know of is JFreeChart from www.jfree.org.
