  • I need help updating itunes on ipad.  will not operate from pc

I have been attempting to update my ipad to the latest and greatest itunes for the past three days.  I have spoken with two Apple representatives. Is there an easier way.  The PC is not cooperating even with the firewalls disabled.  Is there another way?  Possible just by adding a link in the address bar of the ipad? The Ipad is currently running under ios 4.2.1

The PC is not cooperating even with the firewalls disabled
The only way to update your iPad is with the device connected to your computer using iTunes.
Try uninstalling your current copy of iTunes then reinstall >  http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
Try restarting the AMDS >  iPad:  How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
The issue might be your PC >  iTunes for Windows: Gathering and using iTunes Diagnostics

  • I'm about to hulk out guys! Brand new iPhone 5 and need to update iTunes for recognition. Keep getting "the installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail." Can anyone help? I may smash something very soon.

    iTunes:
    AppName: itunes.exe
    AppVer: 10.5.0.142
    ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0
    Offset: 001be6f6
    Quicktime:
    EventType : BEX
    P1 : QuickTimePlayer.exe
    P2 : 7.71.80.42
    P3 : 4ea5c6ef
    P4 : QuickTimePlayer.dll
    P5 : 7.71.80.42
    P6 : 4ea5c6d5
    P7 : 00005b6d
    P8 : c0000409
    P9 : 00000000
That's consistent with another application (other than QuickTime) having dropped old QuickTime componentry in non-standard locations on the PC.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • HT2305 Hi!  I am trying to update my ipad 4 but it says I need an updated itunes and I just keep going around in circles.  Can anyone help?

I am trying to update my first generation ipad and I keep going in circles.  Can anyone offer a suggestion?

First gen iPad or 4th gen iPad?
first gen iPads max out at iOS 5.1.1
If your 4th gen says you need an updated iTunes then it's talking about the iTunes on your comptuer. For iOS7 you need at least iTunes 11

Since it told me to update, I updated to 10.7.
Then when I plugged in the phone again, it gave the same message that I need to update itunes.

It depends on what iPhone you have.
If it's an iPhone 4S or earlier, click here.
If it's an iPhone 5, you need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and that requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM.

    Hi conor1221!
You will probably want to download the newest version of iTunes (iTunes 11.1) directly from Apple and install it on your computer if you are having issues updating. The link for the download can be found here:
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

  • I want to sync music from my PowerBook G4 to my Ipod Generation 7 but it says i need to update the Powerbook but the Powerbook says there is no updates plus i need to update Itunes but its not working.

I want to Sync music from my PowerBook 4 to my Ipod generation 7 but it says I need to update Itunes to 10.7 but when it finishes updating and i go back to itunes nothing has changed and Itunes is not updated.

In order to install iTunes 10.7 or later you need OSX 10.6.8 or later. A PowerBook can install up to OSX 10.5.8
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but any new iPod won't sync with iTunes on Mac not using an Intel processor.

  • Do I need to update iTunes?

I have iTunes 9.1 that is running fine with my 3rd generation iPod touch.
If I buy the new 4th generation ipod touch, will it sync with my existing iTunes program, or do I need to update iTunes?
I read all the grief and problems people have in updating iTunes from 9.1 to 10 and I'd rather not if it's not necessary.
    Thanks.

"I was just about ready to pull the trigger on buying a new ipod Touch, but then thought that with all the problems people have posted about upgrading itunes, maybe that wasn't the best idea. Every upgrade seems to have issues, and break things....
This is a support forum designed for people with problems, so naturally you will see problems here. Just as you will see many sick people in the hospital.
Most never have an issue. I have never had a problem nor has anyone I know.
"Maybe I should just install a new iTunes on a completely separate computer... but then I wouldn't be able to transfer apps from the old touch to the new one..... oh well....."
You can certainly move your apps to a new computer or redownload them.
Use your backup copy to move everything over or plug in your ipod to the new computer, do not sync, then click File>Transfer Purchases
    You can also redownload them:

  • I need to update iTunes to a Mac OS X 10.5.8 Version

I need to update iTunes to a Mac OS X 10.5.8 Version

Use Software Update on whatever Mac it is you have.

  • HT1338 need help updating to snow leopard

need help updating to snow leopard

    Hi Billy,
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.
Call Apple Sales...in the US: 1-800-MY-APPLE. Or Support... 1-800-275-2273

  • I need help fixing itunes crashes on my old mac

i need help fixing itunes crashes on my old mac

    Thanks for your reply,
I have both the silver discs specific to my iMac and Mac Pro models that you receive with your Mac, and a general copy of Snow Leopard that you buy from the store.
I used the silver disc that is specific for my iMac to install the drivers, and Boot Camp 3.0 on my iMac. But with the Mac Pro, the software is older and only has Boot Camp 2.0, thus I'm wondering if I can simply use the software on the general copy of Snow Leopard I own, or does the silver disc contain specific drivers for my Mac Pro that I need?
I'm under perhaps the wrong impression that the silver discs that you get with your Mac purchase contain drivers for your specific Mac model which you can't get from the general Snow Leopard disc.
    Thanks.
