I need help! when songs begin they are very choppy

on many songs , when they begin, the songs begin to get choppy for the first few seconds. it mostly seems to happen when i am listening to an isolated artist/album (via the search thing on i tunes) and it usually only happens when i let the songs switch without me choosing the next song (ie random)- this is about all i have concluded though. i guess i should preface this buy saying i just reformatted my computer and all my music is on my external HD. i feel like it may be a problem with my external Hd (there is a lot of stuff on there), but ive had this problem in various forms before and i was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on what may be causing it and what the best way to solve it would be. thanks

I have the exact same problem whenever I let tracks run from one the the next (without me pressing the "next" button), except my library is not on an external HD, so I don't think this is the reason. I thought initially it might have to do with the last.fm software I installed recently but turning it off the problem persists. Very annoying. Did you find any solutions?

Yes, to restore the iPod and reload the songs with whatever program you use to put songs on the iPod.
How do you manage to use iPod Agent to transfer songs to the iPod since this is what it says in the iPod Agent FAQ?
"iPod Agent is not a music manager. It does not provide the ability to organize your music and transfer it to your iPod. Apple's own iTunes does a great job of this and thus we don't see a reason to try to duplicate it's functionality. iPod Agent is meant to work hand-in-hand with iTunes."

I received an ipod touch 5th gen for Christmas. The first songs i've downloaded and synced with my touch have created ghost songs. They are only on my computer in itunes once but appear on my ipod twice, one copy that won't play. I can't delete them

The first songs i've downloaded and synced with my new touch have created ghost songs. They are only on my computer in itunes once but appear on my ipod twice, one copy that won't play. I can't delete them. I've tried unticking all the music that was on the ipod via itunes and re-syncing, which in theory should delete all music from my ipod. It does except for the 5 ghost songs.   So at present I have no music on ipod except the 5 ghost songs.   Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of these?
I had no problems with my ipod touch 4th, which I had for years.   Any help would be great.

Is there a DJ app for the Ipad that will read the "start" and "stop time" setting for each individual song, as they are set in the song Options screen in Itunes? The Ipod Touch, by itself does not allow cross-fading, therefore when the stop time is edited short, the song jusst truncates then goes to the next song. I tried the DJay ap and while it would crossfade, it would NOT read the song settings for the stop marker. So now I want to try and Ipad and see if there is an app that will READ the Itune stop settings within the song. I do NOT want an app that will allow me to DO the stop marker. I want an app that will READ the stop marker from the song as it is set in Itunes.

Itunes provides the option for setting the Start and Stop times of each music track. However, the start and stop times do not synchronize to the iPhone. I don't understand why this option is even available as it doesn't work when listening to music on the phone. I have not found another application that will support the start and stop time markets. On my iphone, when I get into Messages, I see a list of message thread names and at the top right is an icon with a square and pencil coming out of it. If I tap it, I can begin composing a new message with having to deal with any others.
If on your screen you see one or more message "bubbles", then press the "Messages" button at the upper left to go back to the home page for messages. There you can tap the compose icon.

When your device is connected, check the tabs at the top ("Summary" "Apps" "Music," etc. Under the Music one, check to see if "Sync Music>entire music library" is checked. If it is, that may be why all the songs are syncing.

If you have any commercially advertised/available antivirus software installed on your Mac, completely uninstall this per the instructions on the AV developer's website.
Antivirus software can slow down the normal operation of OS X and can negatively affect OS X performance and operation.
Do you have apps like MacKeeper or any other maintenance apps like CleanMyMac 1 or 2, TuneUpMyMac or anything like these apps, installed on your Mac? These types of apps, while they appear to be helpful, can do too good a job of data "cleanup" causing the potential to do serious data corruption or data deletion and render a perfectly running OS completely dead and useless leaving you with a frozen, non-functional Mac.
Plus, these type of apps aren't really necessary. They really aren't.
There are manual methods to clear off unnecessary data off of your Mac that are safer and you have complete control over your Mac and not just leave a piece of auto cleaning software in charge of clearing off data off of your Mac.
Their potential of causing OS X issues outweighs the implied good and benefits these types of hard drive or memory "cleaning" apps are written to do.
Plus, the software companies that write these apps make it hard to easily uninstall these apps if something DOES go wrong and these apps work in a way where you have no recovery or revert function to return your Mac back to its former, working state in the event something does go wrong.
It is best to never, EVER download and install these types of apps.
The risk to your system and data is too great a risk!
Search the web to learn how to correctly and properly uninstall these kinds of apps.

Yes. you should keep your media in iTunes, and indeed you should also keep a backup of your library as well. if you have the device set up for manual management then the content would remain on it when deleted from the library, but you would have no way to restore the device if there was a problem.
