I need help with my blackberry curve 8520

My phone hasnt been dropped, knocked or water damaged!! But the screen has gone all funny. Its whiteish - but so i can still see the icons and texts etc but with great difficulty. At some angles, it almost looks like a rainbow! 02 said to take it to a store but i was wondering if anyone knew any quick fixes?  Its still working fine by the way i just cant really see anything!

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Let us know what the screen is like after.

  • I need help with my Blackberry curve 8520 urgently

    Hi
I have a blackberry curve 8520, last night the battery was low and my phone went off, I charged it throughout the night and this morning when I woke up it wouldn't go on, I then put it on charge again and I have been struggling to get it on since then, all it does is when I put the charger in the red LED light goes on for about 15seconds then the screen goes blank then 5seconds later it shows in the middle of my screen a battery charging.
If there is anyone that can please help me to get my phone back on I would appreciate it.
    Kind regards

    Hi Alicia

  • Need help with a Blackberry Curve 9300, please...

Hello, everyone, I had a look around the forum and came across a post which offered advice one what to include in questions, so I have tried to include the info below.
    Device info
Your carrier: Unlocked (was using Virgin)
Model info and OS version (Go to Settings, then Options, then about): Blackberry Curve 9300, OS 6
    Apps and free space
File free before and after a battery remove/replace. (Go to Settings, then Options, then status): 60%
Did a battery pull fix your issue? No
Apps installed and their version if possible.   (Go to Settings, then Options, then applications): None, only the ones that come with it after reset to factory
BT device model/version (you will have to look at the BT device): Don't know what this means
    When writing your question
Any other details that would help us out with your issue: This was my teenage brother's phone, which since has been given to me. The phone was severely mistreated; thrown around, stepped on and chewed. The battery had to be replaced as well as the middle chassis and the front and back cases along with the keyboard, bottom clip and screen.
Good description of what is really wrong and how to reproduce if possible. Details of what you did before: I managed to get it working after I had replaced everything listed above, but it will not charge using the cable. I have to keep taking the battery out and plugging it in seperately to charge, then putting back in the phone. This is after replacing the cable as my brother broke that too, so it's not the cable. He's damaged the data/ charge port.
The camera will not work, but at the moment I am not looking for a solution for that. The error is: "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again". No applications are open and the OS has just been updated to the most recent version. For this reason, I think he's managed to break that too and it would need to be replaced if that's possible.
My issue at the moment... My mother, as you can imagine is furious with him for trashing the phone she bought him at about £250 when it was new a couple of years ago. So, as I have managed to get it to turn on and pick up wi-fi, she has said I can keep it. I am on Virgin Mobile and this phone is unlocked. It will not pick up any network even using my Virgin SIM card which works fine. My brother was also using it on Virgin.
I can use it with wi-fi and have already contacted t-mobile and Virgin Mobile to make there there's no problem with them. There isn't. The number has been put under my ownership and the phone registered to me now. It is not blocked or blacklisted, yet, only comes up with SOS for network.
Because of this, they and the local phone shop think he might have damaged the antenna inside. I am an iPhone user, this is the first time I have used a Blackberry, so I have no idea - can the antenna be repaired by myself?
Or, given that the camera doesn't work either/ needs replacing, would it just be better to get a replacement using my contents insurance? I am unsure which would be cheaper, to get the parts and try and fix it myself, or pay the excess for the insurance.
    Advice appreciated... Thanks in advance.

    Hey MaggzieP,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
This KB article will determine if it is a software or hardware related issue for the camera: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15544
Also if you tried more than 1 SIM card in the BlackBerry Curve 9300 smartphone and it still shows SOS, this could be hardware related as well.
For all repairs, I can only suggest checking with the point of sale or network service provider for further options.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • HELP PLEASE! Blackberry curve 8520 - keep getting stuck on "white screen"

Hi i only have this blackberry curve 8520 for like 3 days and already its getting stuck on the "white screen" i experienced this problem with my previous blackberry and after several battery removals it broke and wouldnt turn on again and NOW this new blackberry with the same white screen problem! please HELP ME ANYONE PLEASEEEEEEEEE!!!
    thanks

Do you have a media card installed? If so, remove the battery while the phone is powered on, remove the media card (leave it out), then reinsert the battery and let the phone fully reboot. See if that makes a difference or not.

  • Need help with dead blackberry / recovering data

    Device: BlackBerry Curve 8320 (Tmobile)
A few days ago my BB Curve 8320 spontaneously just turned off and would not turn on again.  No blinking light, nothing.  Battery was fully charged, the phone is only 2 months old, and was not damaged in any way.  Battery was pulled out and re-inserted no luck.  Phone taken to T-mobile store and phone tested with new battery, and still no progress.  T-mobile replaced the phone free of charge.
I am struggling to recover my addressbook, text messages, and photos from the old device.  Every once in a while when the phone is plugged into the charger, the old device will display a battery with a diagnol red line through it.  I have attempted to use the desktop manager to recover the data, but again no luck.  Most of the time, it does not recognize the phone, and I have tried what has been suggested on multiple forums, with taking the battery out, catching the desktop manager for the split second it recognizes the device on the usb port.  I have been successful with that, but it won't let me sync or backup the device.  It allows me to load the application loader, but when i do this, it prompts me for .alx type application loader files, even though i have downloaded the device manager software from t-mobile, so I am unable to re-load the OS.  I also attempted to use the switch device wizard.  This also seemed like it was working.  I was able to connect both curves to my computer through different USB ports and it seemed like it was doing something, but when it's all done with the process, my new device still does not have my old addresses or text messages.
If anyone has any suggestions / advice on restoring my old device without losing the onboard data or some way to access the data so I can import that into my new curve, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

I HAD A BB CURVE 8320, I TRY ALL THE PROGRAMS ANYTHING WORK. MY BB TURN ON N TURN BACK OFF. I TRY LETTING THE BRAND NEW BATTERY SEAT OUT FOR 3O SECONDS STILL DIDNT WORK. WHAT SHOULD I DEW SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME.

  • Need help with Email on Curve

    Hey there,
I received this Blackberry Curve 8300 series phone basically as a "hand me down" from family.  I like the phone, but cannot figure out how to set it up to receive my email.
I've tried going through setup wizard, but get stuck on the "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server".  It asks if the administrator provided me with an Enterprise Activation password.
Here's the problem:  The person who gave me this phone is "technologically challenged", and if she ever did have a password given to her, she doesn't know what it is.  Do I have any way to figure out the password, reset the password, etc.?  How do I go about getting the Enterprise Activation password, and who has that information?
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

hutch, you're not ona BES server, you are strictly a personal user.
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • Please i need help with my blackberry 8520

My host routing table is empty and when i try to register, it says registration message sent but i have no feedback afterward. please help out

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If you did that with a good connection to your mobile service provider (e.g., NOT simply WiFi) AND you already have your voice services working from that provider, then you need to talk to them (the provider) about why their network is not properly communicating with your device. Only they can look at their network to determine what is wrong.
    Good luck!

    CharlotteEnt
This error indicate that the problem is either with SIM account or the problem is with your Carrier Network . If you're unable to recieve the registration message then it is your Carrier who can help you in this regard . So , call your Carrier to confirm if they properly configured your account with BIS  or if they were having any network issue.

  • I need Help with my 8330 Curve BB

a few days ago my BB went crazy.... it is in a loop and will not start up or install a new oper. system (4.3 or 4.5)
i read here on the board that there is a file corruption what causes this problem.
question..... how to i wipe my BB totally clean and how do i install the new software (OS) onto it.
my privider is bell....... the bellstore could not help me, because, they only take returns for the first 30 days........
bell does not have any in stock (30 days and more for the backorder).......... i am leaving for europe next week........
    can anybody help please
    Thanks

First of all be sure to BACK UP what you currently have on your BB.  Then, make sure that have the vendor specific software and the desktop manager downloaded.  When you download the software for your 8330 you should be able to download the specific instructions for installation. Install the desktop manager software (most recent version that your carrier has) and then follow the instructions for updating the software.  If you don't need to update or re-install the software you can then just wipe the curve and re-sync.
Now, to wipe your Curve, go into Options - security options -  general settings.  When you have the general settings screen there, click the application button (blackberry button next to the trackball).  On the pop up menu you'll see wipe handheld.  Select that and you'll be asked to confirm that you want to wipe your handset, so enter blackberry.
That will wipe EVERYTHING off of your Curve and you can start fresh.

  • Need help with my BlackBerry 8320: it's dead!!!

    Hello
some days ago, I left my BB 8320 on the table, on standby mode, and went to bed. Next morning, it was dead. It doesn't turn on, there's no way. The battery is ok, I even tried another one, the ac charger  too, but it doesn`t work.
If I connect it to the usb, the computer recognizes that a BlackBerry device is plugged BUT, it behaves as if it was alternatively connected / disconnected from the usb port. So the Desktop Manager doesn't recognize any device.
I have a Motorola mobile phone  that suffered the same failure and I could easily reload its internal software. This is what  I'd like to do with my BB, if possible,  but I cannot find what I need: service software and software to flash it into the phone.
I don't even know why it has failed.
¿Can anyone help me in some way?
    thanks

    mines dead too
I feel your pain dude, if I didn't have an exam due in 4 hours I would be more worried about my phone... but this issue may have to wait til tomorrow.
I'm so pissed right now though!

  • I need help with my Blackberry Torch 9800 media card....

I've had my Blackberry Torch 9800 for almost a year now and I haven't faced a problem like this one before, One day, Out of nowhere, My blackberry started acting up, the lock button wouldn't work, the touch screen and keypad wouldn't work, I wasn't able to access anything. Then the batteries drained out all of a sudden, so I went home and charged it and I thought that there was something wrong with the battery, but then when it turned on again, it had erased all my media! All my photos, videos and music, and every time I finish charging my phone a prompt would pop up and say that my media card isn't formatted! So I wanted to know if there's anyway to fix this?! The bigger problem is that the rest of my data was on my laptop and it's hard disk crashed.....So now I have nowhere to go to to retrieve my files Is there any solution to this? It's really doing my head in! Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
While rare, spontaneous wiping and rebooting do happen on BBs. You, sadly, are the very unlucky one to also have your backups on your laptop wiped out by it's failure. Very bad luck indeed...hopefully you were backing up your laptop somewhere.
As with all restores, there must be a source...your BB will never be that source as it has no "deleted items" nor "recycle bin" from which to do so. Rather, an external backup source is required. Given your laptop situation, the only other source I can think of is if you had activated the FREE (with a proper BIS plan) BB Protect, and had been backing up your data "to the cloud"...if so, then that will be an available source for restore.
Sadly, if you have no source from which to restore, then that's the end of that hope...
In any event -- first, we need to make sure that you BB is actually OK...and that will require some work on your part. Here's what I recommend...
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Problem with my blackberry curve 8520 smartphone

Since few days ago, the keyboard of my blackberry is not responding again and when i enlight the phone this is the message which appear: App error 523 reset
I need your help to solve this problem please.

See if you can boot the device into safe mode. Remove the battery. While holding down the back key reinsert the battery. Continue to hold the back key for another 20 seconds. The device will then boot into safe mode. If it boots up then you'll want to delete all third party apps or whatever you might have installed that caused the problem. If it doesn't boot up then here is KB that gives instructions on what to do:

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 Battery life issue and Loading icon

Hello, I have an issue with my BlackBerry Curve 8520, the problem is that it has extremely low battery life and half the time it has the loading circle thing in the middle, I first thought it was my batteries fault but after buying a new battery the loading circle thing still comes up but not as much but the battery life is still extremely low (locked or on standby whatever its called it lasts around 2-3 hours, Ive turned off my bluetooth and the problem still remains please help!

Anthony (or anyone else monitoring this thread):
So, what was the outcome of the troubleshooting session with "windycity"?
I don't have a problem with a mysterious icon; however, the anemic battery issue is exactly as windycity described: new charged-up Samsung Haven phone is on; no calls in or out; no text messages either; however, in slightly less than 24 hours, the Haven goes from having a fully-charged battery to one that's dead, or just about.
Like windycity, I bought this simple phone for my father, who just wants a phone he can make voice calls with, nothing more.
However, the sad peformance of this phone+battery has not helped me in my campaign to at least get him to dip his toes into the digital stream -- in fact, he wants me to take it back and cancel the plan!
I'd really rather not do that, but we'll need some kind of resolution to this problem first.
