I need ibooks for iphone 3g
Hi,
my father gave me his old Ihone 3g and i want to use ibooks, but i only find the newest version that doesn't support ios 4.2.1, where can i get an older version ?
I had the exact same problem - phone a hand me down from my brother.
I am using eBookS reader (libri.de) from the iTunes store, the information is in German but the app works well and is free.
So glad I didn't buy an iPhone 3g which I was considering before I got a gift of one. Can't believe they cost 350 Euro and are obsolete and unsupported.

how I can make an ibook for iphone? when I export my book, the iphone says that the format is just for ipad
You need to recreate your book in .epub format. The apple app for that is Pages.

Is it possible to restrict an iBook for iPhone devices?
Hi,
I'm preparing a book to be sold on iBooks, but I've noticed that it wouldn't be read correctly on iPhone because it's a technical book (full of code and output source) and it won't be read well on small screens.
May I set the book is not recommended for iPhone devices or restrict it to iPad? or anything? I don't want people to buy my book and find it difficult to read because of the coding parts being unreadable on iPhone... I'm attaching two examples of my book in Kindle...
Thanks a lot in advance!

I buy new iphone form friend and the ID for iphone DONT foget
Well, the iPhone is activation locked, and there is nothing you can do.
Activation lock was added by Apple as an anti-theft feature. It is described here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
Your iPhone cannot be used until the old Apple ID and password release it. -

I did a book with iBook Author and now I would like to have that book on my iphone6, but it seems not to be possible: is that true? why??

iBA books are in the .ibooks format, which can only be read on an iPad or a Mac running OS X 10.9 and higher.
Nobody in these forums can tell you why Apple has not made such books readable on the iphone, but you can ask for this via
http://www.apple.com/feedback
For the iphone .epub format is required. The Apple app for producing that is Pages.
Or if .pdf does what you need, you could export your .iba file to .pdf and read that on any device. -
HT4059 Highlighting in iBooks for iPhone.
When I'm in scroll mode, I keep highlighting text, the yellow one, not the blue one that gives you the choice to copy or define or whatever, when scrolling down. It sometimes happens when I have it on book mode, but all I have to do to fix that is just tap the screen instead of dragging my finger across. Is there a fix like this or a simple setting change for scroll mode?
I was looking more to have my entire ibook ie previous purchased content all in one place in my itunes ibook section and then being able to sync it to my iphone and have teh stanza/ereader/kindle apps read from the directory that ibooks stores it on the iphone. I have both DRM'ed and Non-DRM'ed ebooks purchased from the the palm ebook store now at http://store.fictionwise.com/palm/ that I use. I would hope IBooks would be able to open DRM'ed books from other sources though.
Important sidenote update: I have since updated my OS and Itunes, and have synced myiphone with it, there now appears a sync category for IBOOKS in the Iphone Settings Section along with the other categories. -
Do I need internet for iphone restore to factory settings opetion?
I have an iphone 2G with 2.2 firmware, While i was trying to load some songs using itunes, suddenly a msg pops up saying itunes is not able to recognise the iphone.
It asks me to restore my iphone to factory settings. However, i have some unanswered questions bugging me..
->do i need an internet connection for doing this?
->what actually are affected by restoring to factory settings [apart from songs, contacts, calender, photos]
->do i need to configure my service provider information, etc again.
->is there any other way to come out of this problem apart from restoring to facory settings? [Does format of PC or reloading software work]?
Please help me..->do i need an internet connection for doing this?
If you have already installed firmware update 2.2 with iTunes on this computer and the 2.2 download has not been deleted from your computer, an internet connection is not required to re-install 2.2 - which is what a restore with iTunes does, but an internet connection will be required to complete the installation process. A carrier locked iPhone is checked with the designated provider to confirm the iPhone is activated with the designated provider.
->what actually are affected by restoring to factory settings apart from songs, contacts, calender, photos
When doing a restore, your iPhone will be completely erased followed by the current firmware version being re-installed. If your iPhone was sold as carrier locked, your iPhone needs an internet connection to verifyAfter 2.2 is re-installed, you will be prompted to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, which is created and maintained by iTunes as the first step during the sync process. The backup includes data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, contact info, SMS messages, notes, recent calls, call favorites, photos in the Camera Roll, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app acquired from the iTunes app store. This must be followed by a sync to transfer all data not included with your iPhone's backup, such as all iTunes content and photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone.
Contact info, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. For contact info and calendar events with Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007. For contact info only, with the address book used by Outlook Express with XP or by Windows Mail with Vista - the name change for OE with Vista.
Photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Although photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup, it isn't a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for these photos.
->do i need to configure my service provider information, etc again.
Whatever is was you did when you first activated your iPhone will likely be required again.
->is there any other way to come out of this problem apart from restoring to facory settings? Does format of PC or reloading software work?
It doesn't sound like it. If you have tried an iPhone reset with no change, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so, you have no other option. Reformatting and re-installing software on your PC will not affect an error with your iPhone. -
Need Tiger for iPhone, but will my G4 support Leopard?
I bought my g4 Powerbook in Spring '04. I need to update to at least Tiger for the iPhone, but given that Leopard will be out in a few weeks, I may just wait to get the new OS.
My real question is whether or not my computer will support Leopard. If not, there's no point in waiting. There seems to be little news regarding where Apple will make the cutoff for necessary compatability for old Macs wishing to upgrade.
Any information is greatly appreciated.Hi there,
sorry for the late reply, but even though you said that all the G4's will be supported, does this mean that my G4 Digital Audio will run leopard? Granted that I haven't upgraded my processor yet. My ram is at 1.5GB. I also use my mac for everyday tasks and am not a video designer nor a gamer, therefore I don't need the expensive power overhaul of the Mac Pro machine.
Please let me know if Leopard will run on the Digital Audio G4. -
Publishing iBooks for iPhones and iPod Touches
I just created an ibook using iauthor. I've published it to the ibooks store, but it is only available for download on iPads. No one can download it on their iPhones or iPod touches. How do I convert it and publish it to a format that will work?
Yes and no - depends on the file format of the 'book'.
The iBooks app can be download on iPhone, iPod touch, ipad and ipad mini - true.
File support with this app differs though, depending on device:
iPhone and iPod touch - ePub, PDF
Ipad and ipad mini - ePub, PDF, ibooks
If you really want people to read your book on an iPhone or iPod touch, then the ibooks format is not for you. Use Pages for example to create ePub, or export a PDF from iBA - that way you can still get the formatting/desktop publishing layout etc.

I guess this is more a comment than a question. I can't believe there isn't an iBooks app for mac! I have iBooks on my I-Phone 4, and was astonished to see, after purchasing a book on my phone, that there's no companion app that will allow me to read it on my macbook.
I can purchase books from amazon and read on either my phone or my macbook through the Kindle App. So why should I purchase books from Apple's iBook store?.....
Apple, are you listening?LexSchellings wrote:
Reading Books yes.
You need to understand that most people who are asking this question want to read best sellers and other paid-for books from the iBookstore. They are not interested in free books or pdfs. Aside from a very few publishers which do not use DRM, it is NOT possible to read a paid-for iBook on anything other than an iOS device. This is very, very annoying to huge numbers of people. The same problem does not exist if you buy a book from Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or Googlebooks.
Every purchase page in the iBookstore actually says right on it that an iOS device is required (even in the few cases where this is not true, because there happens to be no DRM).
