I need Internet Explorer 5.5 to access my classes

Hi
I try accessing my classes, but when I do I get a message that says "In order to provide you with the most efficient access to our site, we ask you that you use Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher to view the site. Please click on the Get Microsoft Internet Explorer logo below to download the latest version"
I tried accessing my site with Safari and Firefox and get the same message, Please help.

You can set the User Agent in Safari (use newest supported Safari, for security) and
if you have OnyX by Titanium Software, you can use its configuration options to have
the Safari's User Agent stay put. Otherwise, it will revert once shut down to a standard
view and the Developer menu bar may disappear from the Safari browser.
{Or I should say, this worked in mine; perhaps in an earlier Safari and it was carried forward.}
Once you enable the Developer menu (and User Agent) with OnyX utility, a free tool
from Titanium Software, the menu and ability to have Safari seen by web sites as a
different browser stays enabled. {And OnyX is good for much more: maintenance.}
When you have OnyX in the system, launch it, enter password then note this path:
OnyX> Parameters> Safari> Enable debug menu>
For some reason, this keeps my Safari's (including latest version) developer menu
and User Agent from going away; it is always present. If this does not work for you
then there may be some other thing going on in my computer. There was a tweak
a few years ago, a freeware, that also enabled the User Agent; doubt I installed it.
• Or you could get Camino browser and see if its user agent lets you use stubborn
web sites engineered by fools with stone axes and wooden clubs, in IE clothing.
Even Opera may allow you an option to fool those sites made by M$ followers.
Good luck & happy computing!

You can't — at least not if you want to run it in the Mac OS. If you have Winidows installed on your Mac, then of course you can run the Windows version of IE, but the Mac version hasn't been updated since June 2003 and is unsupported by Microsoft. It's very insecure, it can't handle a lot of current web sites, and it may not run at all in recent OS X versions. It was lousy in 2003, and it can't have gotten any better while the world was passing it by.
If there's a web site you want to access that says it requires IE, complain to its webmaster about the benighted design of the site. No responsible web designer codes sites for just one browser any more. Every web site should be tested and should work well with a large variety of browsers — IE, Firefox and Chrome at a bare minimum — and every site owner should insist that their designer(s) adhere to that "best practice."

The last Mac version of IE is so old it doesn't display web pages correctly. It also doesn't have ActiveX. If that's why the site requires IE, the old Mac PowerPC version of IE still wouldn't help you.
You could use Boot Camp to install Windows to its own bootable partition. Or, use VM software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox), and install Windows in a VM. Then you'd have Windows running inside OS X with access to IE.

Advisable is irrelevant...  It is not possible.  There has not been a version of IE for Mac for a long time.  You will have to load Windows on your Mac in order to run IE, or try making your browser mimic IE.  (In Safari, go to Safari -> Preferences, click the Advanced tab and check the box to show the Develop menu.  Then, in that menu, choose User Agent -> Internet Explorer x.0.)  Note that doing that will not work if the site relies on some weird non-standard feature of IE that no other browser on the planet has.

I need internet explorer for mac, what should I do?

There is no Internet Explorer for the Mac, only for Windows.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

    1) Try installing using MSI file instead of setup.exe.

There is no IE for a Mac. MS hasn't had IE for the Mac for years. To us IE7 or later you would have to run Windows on your Mac:

    Buy and install Windows.
    Then you have IE
Of course you can always do as I do when some idiot, usually with the government, tell me I need to IE. I say no. After saying no enough times they mail me a form.
    I don't believe in Microsoft.

  • NEED INTERNET EXPLORER FIX FOR IWEB!!

    Hi everyone,
I need some help. I know this post has come up many many times in the past and there is a lot of sites that have attempted to tackle this issue but I haven't found the solution and I need help!
Basically, as much as I love Safari and all Mac applications, the site I've created is targeting a less tech savy demographic, which unfornuately is comprised of more internet explorer users.
    What I did:
    - My site is all flash based. I created the flash file through Adobe Flash Catalyst and uploaded the file to my web hosting via an FTP.
    - I used iWeb and used the HTML Snippet option and embed the code in it to access the flash file and make it run.
    - The site functions great on every browser EXCEPT Internet Explorer.
I've heard that many people have used Dreamweaver to update the code to make it function, but the newer versions of Adobe Products are very confusing and cannot be bothered, unless there is a straight forward fix.
Does anyone know of a tutorial guide or the code to make the site function on Internet Explorer?!?!?!?!
If you would like to view my site and give me some feedback it is: www.uidesign.ca
    Thanks!
    - Art

I solved my own problem and using Dreamweaver and creating just a basic html with embedded snippets that did the same think.

  • My system needs internet explorer for a application I need to down load, however I need to down load the latest yahoo tool bar for internet explorer to work properly and firefox will not allow the down load of yahoo toolbar. How do I fix this?

I have not used Internet explorer since downloading firefox and I need IE for a trading platform that I need to use. In order to get IE working I apparently need to down load the latest version of Yahoo toolbar, however when I try to down load the tool bar Firefox will not allow the down load of that file.

Thank you so much, for once in my computer life I knew what the problem was, what caused it, why it was caused, what it did, what it made it do and most importantly how to fix it and to do it correctly and expeditiously. I can not Thank You all enough for all of the help! I also have Pogo mailed this to all on my friends list, where they have all learned as I have and have fixed theirs also. and the message is being spread. Thank You again, I just can not say it enough.

  • I need Internet Explorer version 6 or higher

My jobs site requires it, I've already tried:
    Opera 9.26
    Internet Explorer 5.2
    FireFox 2.0.0.2
    Safari 3.0.4
and it wont work on any of those, what can I do?

    MattWillis:
There is no Mac version of Internet Explorer 6.0.
What IE has a verison that works with a PC/Windows.
If it must be Internet Explorer and that it must be 6.0 or higher then you need to run windows either via boot camp on an intel based Mac or a PC.
I am surprised that Firefox couldn't do the job. Do you have all the necessary plugins installed with firefox which may have allowed you to run the script that your work requires?

  • Internet Explorer 11 silent uninstall - Access Denied

    Hey,
We are trying to uninstall IE11 on some devices via SCCM.
    Unfortunately our command line:
    FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
Returns "Access Denied" with a popup window...even running as system account with PSexec.exe
Of course our users cannot see the popup window during deployment by SCCM and installation runs into timeout.
If I run the command line manually via and select 'OK' at the popups the uninstallation goes on and works after restart.
How is the recommended way by Microsoft of uninstalling IE11?
    Thank you.
    Kind Regards

    Hi Torsten,
    thank you for your help.
The access denied happens always for the two red marked files.
If there is an language pack installed there is an additional access denied.
Something more I found is that after internet explorer 11 update and restart the desktop background of each user is black.
If I restart again it is gone and user sees his desktop background again.
(Of course no real 'issue' but users are frustrated and are not very please of IE11 at the beginning)
    Kind Regards

Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
    Reboot your system.

It is, but you'd need to either install Windows first, using BootCamp or as a virtual machine using VMware Fusion, Parallels or Virtual Box or use CrossOver, which creates a Windows environment in which some Windows programs can run.
