I need Java for my gradebook

I just bought a MacBook Pro yesterday.  When I tried to open my gradebook it tells me that I need Java.  When I tried to download Java the site won't let me access the download.  Is there a way to activate Java so I can open my gradebook?

Java is not supported on the iPad. Does your bank have its own app in the app store or a non-java version of its website ?

  • Do we really need JAVA for cloud login???

Hi everyone, I've found no issues with my drive so far and quite happily like the big capacity, ease of use and and access anywhere using iPhone/iPad but have just discovered that you need JAVA to access from a remote browser. I tried from work and it said Java installation was required - obviously I don't have admin rights so cannot install this! Would this be the same from (for example) an intenet cafe anywhere in the the world? Surely JAVA cannot always be required? Over the last few years Java has been getting more media attention due to its security concerns especially on 'public use' computers - this is very ironic as wd2go.com access to the cloud would almost always be done through public computers! Please can someone with experience of the WD MyCloud post a workaround that doesn't require Java? I am going travelling soon and this would be invaluable. Thanks,James

Short answer is, yes. To use the WD2Go.com site in a web browser Java is generally required. There are several other options for accessing the WD My Cloud remotely. The problem you may face is that without the ability to install software you won't be able to install one or more of the programs below on a computer or device. WD My Cloud Desktop for WindowsWD My Cloud Desktop for MacWD My Cloud for AndroidWD Photos for AndroidWD My Cloud for iOSWD Photos for iOSWD 2go for Windows Phone

  • HT202822 I need Java for OS X 2013-005 - where do I get it?

A key website for me has updated its Java requirements as of today. For some reason Java is not in evidence on my iMac, although it seemed to be doing its job until today. The catch is that I'm on Snow Leopard, which I realize Apple no longer supports. I'd still like to try installing the final Java Snow Leopard update (I know, it's a long shot) but it's not available through Software Update and I can't find it on the Apple site.
Suggestions welcome — but preferably not a lecture that I should be on Yosemite.

Yes, you're likely correct. The version of Java for Snow Leopard is too old to function correctly with that site.
When you have Yosemite installed, pick up Java 8 from Oracle (Apple stopped altering Oracle's Java to work with OS X after version 6). The latest version, unbelievably, installs adware if you aren't paying attention. Or at least it did. I downloaded it again just now, and the adware option is gone. I don't know if that means it now installs the adware without giving you a check box (as it did before) to opt out, or if Oracle was deluged with angry emails and phone calls asking just what in the he** they thought they were doing.

  • Need Java for online course. Java does not work with Mavericks or times out quickly?

After upgrading to Mavericks 10.9.3 I am unable to connect to Blackboard through Java for my online courses. Research shows compatability issues. Same issue also occurs with my two Mac Air. is there a solution without taking down firewall and allow all applications?

You might be able to add the website to the list of excepted sites on the Java System preference.
You might be able to setup a proxy connection to your server that Java can speak over.

  • Need Java 7,11 Activated

I NEED Java for my job, I have no choice. Since Apple's Java update early last year which messed everything up I've had to use Firefox.
I have the most current update according to Oracle, Java 7, Update 11. I was working this morning just fine and then all of the sudden Firefox tells me it's unsafe and presents a box to Activate or not. I clicked Activate. Nope. I go to the Add-ons Manger which tells me my plug in is known to be vulnerable. Nothing I do will allow me to activate Java in Firefox.
Dear Mozilla folks, for this work I use a Mac that has nothing else on it. If it get's hacked, I'll restore it and start over, I'll take responsibility for that. There are no further updates I can apply and I surely cannot wait until Oracle decides to patch it again. Come on!

You can add a trusted site so you don't have to click the Activate button. [[Why do I have to click to activate plugins?#w_how-to-always-activate-a-plugin-for-a-trusted-website|How to always activate a plugin for a trusted website]]

  • Hi I nede Java for my Internett banking, but I can't download this. Any ideas ?

Hi I need Java for my Internett banking, but I can't  download this on my new I pad. Any ideas?

The iPad doesn't do Java.  (Why'd your bank choose Java of all things for their internet banking?!)
If, on the other hand, you mean JavaScript - which is entirely different from Java - that isn't something that needs to be downloaded.  Your iPad should be just fine with JavaScript out of the box, though obviously some things won't work (like anything dependent on mouseover events).

  • Disable Java for security?

    I have Mac OSX 10.6.8.
    I read these articles:
How to Detect and Protect Against Updated Flashback Malware
    http://tidbits.com/article/12918
Flashback botnet: The end of the Mac’s malware immunity?
    http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/flashback-botnet-the-end-of-the-macs-malw are-immunity/
    Beware the Morphing Flashback Malware
    http://tidbits.com/article/12818
So, I disabled Java in all 4 of my installed browsers.  So far I have not noticed any downside.
“Disabling Java will block Flashback’s “drive-by” attack, and is the most effective way for earlier users of Mac OS X to protect themselves.
              •          Safari—Go to Preferences > Security, and uncheck “Enable Java.” (While you’re in there, go to Preferences > General and make sure “Open ‘Safe’ files after downloading” is unchecked.)
              •          Firefox—Choose Tools > Add-ons, select the Plug-ins Tab, and click the “Disable” button next to Java Plug-in.
              •          Chrome — Type chrome://plugins in Chrome’s address bar. A list of available plug-ins will appear. Find Java and click the “Disable” link beneath it.
This doesn’t remove Java from your system, it just prevents Web browsers from launching or running Java apps. That’s enough to protect you from the drive-by nature of the Flashback attack. You’ll still be able to run desktop applications that require Java — a common example is things like Citrix’s GoToMeeting — but you may find you need to selectively re-enable Java in a browser to log in to services or download updates. In that case, you can selectively re-enable Java to get an app running, then disable it again when you’re done.”
    http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/flashback-botnet-the-end-of-the-macs-malw are-immunity/
I also disabled Java in Opera browser from opera:plugins
    Comments?

The latest threat is through authentic-looking, but fraudulent Adobe Flash installation dialogs which can only appear when using a browser. Diabling Java will prevent the trojan from entering your system that way.
Java can also run as a standalone app for other programs designed for it. I believe Limewire was one example. It's been defunct for years and I don't know if there are any similar programs in common use. Disabling Java in Java Preferences as you explained will shut that door for good.
For what it's worth I have not needed Java for anything since I bought my latest iMac. When I opened Java Preferences I got this:
I was kind of surprised that I never even installed it. It's fair to say you probably won't miss it.
The digitaltrends headline you referenced is misleading - Mac malware has existed in many forms for many years. OS X gives complete and unfettered access to any program, good or evil, that a user chooses to install by granting access with his login name and password.
This is nothing new, nor does it herald the "end of immunity" since immunity never existed.

  • Can't open cs6 programs they crash since I was instructed to download java for osx10.10.2

    My photoshop cs6 crashes.

You shouldn't need java for photoshop cs6 to work on mac os x 10.10.2
(some of the other cs6 creative suite applications like illustrator do though i believe)
This is the java you would need

Can you post the crash report for photoshop cs6?

  • I am trying to use an education program that needs Java applets to install and use and it will not use Safari. When I download IE from the web it will not install. How can I get a browser that will work on my MacAir for travel use of this program?

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
Actually, you cannot download Snow Leopard. You downloaded a Snow Leopard updater.

  • I Need Java code for following Algorithm

    * I Need Java code for following algorithm. Kindly any one help.
    1. Read the contents (ideas and its corresponding scores) from two files named as 'a' and 'b'.
    2. Stored the file 'a' contents in array a[].
    3. Stored the file 'b' contents in array b[].
    4. compare both files like
    if(a.equals(b[j])
Writing the common idea and add the score from file 'a' and 'b'.
    else
write the uncommon idea and its score..
    For example :
    Form Agents.txt
    action,65
    architecture,85
    eco-,15
    essay,30
    form,85
    form,85
    link,40
    tangent,25
    Form Agents1.txt
    Black holes,69
    essay,78
Herewith i have above mentioned two files named as Form Agents and Form Agents1.
    Form Agents has eight fields
    Form Agents1 has two fields
--> 'essay' is common in two files, so store the idea 'essay' and add the score from Form Agents score is '30' and Form Agents1 has 78 (essay 108).
Finally it stores idea in another file with uncommon fields also.
    Please help us.

We have tried with following code.
But we cant add the scores.
    For Example:
    Form Agents.txt --> has "essay,30"
    Form Agents1.txt --> has "essay,78"
    Result is: essay,108
Finally it stores idea in another file with uncommon fields also.
So Any one pls correct the following code.
    try
    DataOutputStream o1=new DataOutputStream(new
    FileOutputStream("C:\\Interfaces\\interfaces\\temp\\BlackBoard\\My Design
