I need my ipod to stay as a source on my desktop but it disappears!

i have a program where i need the ipod to remain on the desktop and in itunes but when i connect tot he usb port i only shows up for a few sec's while it is syncing itself to itunes, it stays in the itunes menu but doesn't stay on the desktop
**it only stays on the desktop while it is syncing and then disappears while it shows the main menu on the ipod**

To have it remain on the desktop you need to enable disk use. Connect your iPod, select it under devices when it appears, go to the summary tab to the right and tick the box under Options that says "enable disk use".
You will have to manually eject it from now on.

  • TS3572 My new ipod shuffle is showing up on my mac desktop but not in itunes. What should I do?

My new ipod shuffle is shwoing up on my mac desktop (and the charging light is flashing) but is not being recognised by itunes. What should I do?

On your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.
If you're running iOS 7 on your iPod and old ID is your ID, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I have a MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and iTunes 11.0.1.  When I tether my new iPod Nano, the icon shows up on my desktop, but does not show up under devices in iTunes.  The Nano says it is connected and synching, but I cannot download music if it doesn't show up under devices.

  • I want to update to LION,on my Macbook Pro duo core, (october 2006) because Adobe CC needs at least that. I know my computer is old, but works perfect to me and I do not want to stay in Adobe CS6 since I have access to Adobe Cloud CC. Please help.

I probably dont want to go to Mountain Lion either because I've heard that it will slow down my computer, So, Lion 10.7 will be the perfect OS X for me.
I have ne newest release of Snow Leopard installed and works great.
Thank you ALL for your help.

you will be ok updating to the new software but there will be some trade off. i have 3 macbooks 2006 that are all running the latest versions.
some of the trade off are
    1-2 less of battery life
    slow wake ups from sleep
slower start up time about 30-40 seconds longer then what you have now
the operating system will use high % of your processer while idealing
these are not the things you want to hear about a new os compared to the old one but this is how it is even with a new macbook pro. but it's not the end of the world. just make sure you have at least more then 2GB of ram and have a good harddrive and you will be ok.

  • I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I upgraded to lion. I tried to buy an audio book and download it to my nano like I have done at least 50 times before. Now the dialog box states that I need an ipod touch for the same function. MacBook Pro 2008 w/ m.trac

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I recently upgraded to Lion which is causing lots of issues. Aside from that, I went to the Itunes store to purchase books like I have done at least 100 times before with no problems. Now I can by the book and get it to my computer, however when I tried to download the book to my 3rd generation ipod the dialog box informed me that to download any new audiobook purchases I would need an ipod touch. My ipod nano 3rd generation serves my purposes just fine. Why should I be forced to buy something I do not want just to continue something I have always done seamlessly? I know this is more of a rant than a question but I am sure someone else out there has had this happen to them. Maybe you could share your thoughts on how to work around this issue if possible?

I forgot to add the last obvious and crucial step I had taken - plugging a different iPod into my system. It was also not recognized. That was the final proof I needed to determine if the problem was device or system. But now what?
I truly appreciate any help I can get!
    Thanks again...

When in DFU mode and connected to the computer iTunes does not say anything but iTunes will see the iPod and you can restore the iPod via iTunes. When in recovery mode and you connect, iTunes will say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

You need to update to iTunes 10.x.  However, to do that you need to ugrade your computer's OS to at least 10,5,8. That is a paid upgrade.

My iPod doesn't open games anymore ((help))
It says need full iPod !!

Usually a hard reset of the device resolves this error.  A reset is equivalent to rebooting your PC.  To do the reset, first make sure the Hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Need a ipod  will ipod 6TH GENERATION BE COMING OUT TRYING TO WAIT PLEASE HELP!!!

I NEED A IPOD BUT I AM TRYING TO WAIT ON IPOD 6TH GENERATION WILL A NEW ONE BE OUIT SOON

If you want to know when the 6 is coming out, you won't get an answer here. First, we are not allowed to discuss things that Apple may release in the future. Second, if they were going to release one, it would more than likely be on the iPod page months in advance.

  • Pathintosh : Need OS X to Stay in 640x480

Some might remember my "Pathintosh" project a few years ago (Mac installed in Nissan Pathfinder)? I'm back... and I'm trying to get my Mac+Pathfinder working with the latest version of OS X.
I have a unique need to run OS X in 640x480, but the screen resolution keeps reverting to a higher resolution when waking from sleep. I made a script that will switch to the needed resolution after a restart, but it is too slow and impractical to use each time the system wakes from sleep.
Earlier versions of OS X would stay in 640x480 after waking from sleep, but the later versions are not behaving the same way.
I understand that OS X is designed around a minumum resolution of 800x600 so that the dialogue boxes are visible, but I need to run OS X in a "kiosk" mode that must remain in 640x480 (the in dash LCD only supports this resolution) - especially after waking from sleep.
Can anyone give some insight into how to keep OS in 640x480?
    Thanks,
    Destin

Sleep is necessary. When the car is turned off, the Mac goes into sleep mode because power was lost. When I start the car, power is restored (through the power adapter) which causes the Mac to wake.
If I were to have it always on - the batteries would deplete rather quickly.

    iPad mini
    iPod touch (5th generation)
You also need to turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If you want to share with your contacts, sign in to your iCloud account.

To see if your Mac works with AirDrop, make sure you’re in the Finder by clicking the desktop (the background area of your screen), or by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock. Then, check to see if AirDrop is listed as an option in the Go menu. If you don't see AirDrop listed, your Mac doesn't support this feature.

Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.
To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need the Mac models listed below with Wi-Fi turned on and OS X Lion or later installed.
