I need my Verizon tablet to upgrade its operating system from a 4.2.2 to a 4.3 or higher. How do i do this?

I want my tablet to upgrade. Can I do this manually or is it automatic?

depending on what tablet you have, updates are available for certain models. what model do you have? in general OTA updates are done automatically and are pushed in stages. but you can pull an update manually ((if available for your model/manufacturer) by going into:
Settings>Apps
go to All apps
find Google Services Framework, open it.
then clear data (scroll to the bottom) and then force stop
after this restart your tablet. wait for the tablet to initialize for a couple of minutes (complete app loading and services).
then go to Settings>About phone
then System Updates and hit refresh.

You can't. Nothing that runs under v10.1.1 can run 10.5.8.
No MacBook Pro can run under v10.1.1.
So something in your post is wrong.

  • How do I upgrade the operating system from 10.3.9 to 10.5

    Hi,
I have an iBook G4 which is running 10.3.9 at the moment and I would like to upgrade it to 10.5.
Where do I get the OS from and how do i install it?
Sorry I am new to MAC so have no real knowledge on how to any of this.
    Thanks,
    alamb200

Unless you find it on eBay, it's likely to cost you more than the iBook is worth.
Apple sold it for $129, and you could try giving them a call to see if they may still have it available via phone sales. You need the full retail version.

    http://www.amazon.com/Mac-OS-Version-10-5-6-Leopard/dp/B000FK88JK
Don't buy any version that came with another Mac; it won't work, neither will an "upgrade" disc. (An upgrade disc requires that you already have Mac OS X 10.4 installed.)
    Good luck.
(Unless you can find an exceptional deal on Leopard, the money would probably be better spent on upgrading to a MacBook with Leopard or Snow Leopard already on it.)

  • HT1338 How do I upgrade my operating system from 10.5.8 to 10.6 or later

I need the best method to upgrade my Macbook 10.5.8 to 10.8.2 so that I can use Lion. Thanks for your help.

If you want to use Mountain Lion, then Niel's post covers that.
If you want Lion, which preceded Mountain Lion, you'll also buy that through the online Apple store, who can sell you a code to download it. You'll need to be at OS X 10.6.8 for either option.
The online Apple store's number in the US is 800-MY-APPLE.

  • Upgrade of Operating System

During upgrade of Operating system from 4.2.5 to 6.0.1, I synced my ipad 2 (4.3.5) to a new computer and after the update had downloaded, the installation started, but now the IPAD is acting like a new device.   The screen seen is the one that shows up when you first plug in the ipad.  How do I avoid loosing all my photos and apps and other items stored on the ipad?

If you are still configuring the iPad as "new" - when you get to the end of the setup process - you can choose to restore the iPad from and iCloud backup or an iTunes backup. Select whichever option that you use for your backups (you do backup don't you?) and restore from that backup.

  • I need to update my operating system from 10.5.8 to 10.6, I believe its the one before snow leopard and is just called leopard.

i need to update my operating system from 10.5.8 to 10.6 on my mac mini, I believe its the one before snow leopard and is just called leopard.

You seem to have your OS's confused.   Your profile says 10.6 but you are asking to update from 10.5.8.
10.5.8 is Leopard.   It is also the highest level of Leopard you can achieve.
10.6.(x) is Snow Leopard.   And 10.6.8 is the highest level you can achieve.
If you have 10.6 then all you will need to do is download and apply the combo updater.
If you have 10.5.8, then you will need to review the machine ... Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -Read the Technical Specifications
Subject the machine will take it, you will then need to buy Snow Leopard from your National on-line Apple store.
Before you start upgrading, back up your files.   If you are unsure how best to do this, the following link is hugely informative.   Most commonly used backup methods: Apple Support Communities
Once you have upgraded to Snow Leopard, your upgrade will take you to 10.6.3 and you then will need to apply the Combo updater.  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
and follow with software updates to pick up the most recent security and iTunes updates.
This will give you the best and highest level includine the App Store.
    Good luck.

As long as you don't need all the bells and whistles of the iTunes Store such as Ping, and don't need to sync an iOS device running iOS 4.x, then iTunes 9.2.1 should work for you. It should be available via Software Update, but if not, you can still get it here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1056
but it would be best to upgrade your Mac to Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, since it's probable that eventually the iTunes Store will no longer support iTunes 9.x.
    Regards.
P.S. Mac OS X 10.4 was discontinued three and a half years ago, so yes, it's getting rather long in the tooth. Cheers.

  • HT1443 I need to upgrade my MAC Os X 10.4.11 TO be 10.6 or greater. How can I do this?

I need to upgrade my MAC OS X 10.4.11 to be 10.6 or greater. How do I do this?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

I am trying to connect the iPad3 to the PC for HotSpotting reason (the ability to use the internet on the PC)
Turning on HOT SPOT on the Apple ipad works GREAT when using it through WI-Fi and through Blue Tooth. But connecting it directly through the included iPad 3 USB Cable to the USB side of the PC does NOT work. I tried several PCs, and several Cables. Any other ideas

  • HT4528 i have a verizon iphone 3G; apple recently upgraded the operating system.  PROBLEM: calendar has wiped out all entries and i am unable to add new entries.  Help!

have verizon iphone 3g; recent upgrade of operating system.  suddenly calendar has wiped out all entries and am unable to add new ones.

Please define "tried to add the Image"?
OS Installer Packages do not point to "images". They point to the complete set of source files including the directory structure from the media.
Is there a specific reason you are using OS Installer packages though? In general, there is no reason to use them anymore (unless you are actually still deploying XP).

v4 is pretty lonh in the tooth now, and GB only costs $15, so I'd think it's a good idea

the only version you can buy new is v6,a nd it should open older projects without issue ... however you could keep 4 around:
