Need some practical Scenarios to test Compliance Calibrator, FF and AE
Hi Experts,
I have installed Compliance Calibrator 5.2 / Access Enforcer and Firefighter on a test System. However i am looking for some practical scenarios / Examples to test the functionlity of these installations. If any of you is currently working on these technologies i appreciate if you c an provide 2 3 scenarios to test my installation and functionality .
Thanks in advance.
Your help is much apprecaited..
SKHi SK,
Testing the functionality of CC
1. I would recommend to create some test roles where in you plug in some conflicting tcodes
which can pose a sure SoD Risk, lets say Create Vendor Invoice(FB01) and Make an
Automatic Payment(F110).
2. Now run the Risk Analysis by choosing the Default SAP GRC ruleset library and do a
Role level Analysis. Then Assign the Test Roles to Test Users and then do a User Level Analysis.
3. You may have create some Custom Rule sets with appropriate naming of Conflicting functions
like Creation of Purchase Order (P001), Approve Purchase Order(P002)
in different Application Areas like Purchase 2 Pay(P2P), Order 2 Cash (O2D) and try to do
the same as above two steps.
4. Test the functionality of Risk Remediation by removing the conflicting tcodes and do the
Risk Analysis.Your previous Risk Roles must not appear
5. Test the functionality of Risk Mitigation by placing a mitigation Control on the Conflicting tcodes
and do the Risk Analysis.Your previous Risk Roles must not appear if you have properly
configured your CC
Testing the functionality of FF
1. I would say create a few Firefighter IDs in different functional areas like FI, SD, MM, and then
create some test users for Firefighter Owners, Controllers and Firefighters who can use
the functionality of FF.
2. Create some FF roles which have exceptional access in those functional areas
encompassing transaction codes and authorization objects that are not used in normal incidents.
3. Assign each of the FF roles to the respective FF IDs and then to the test Firefighters.
4. Pull the log reports in FF and see if it gives exact details of the FF usage.
5. You may have take some assistance of the Functional team members to do the testing.
Testing the functionality of AE
1. Create a workflow scenario of hiring a new user.
2. Create the request under a test requestor. Assign the request to some test approver
3. Also Assign some roles and test the functionality.
Hope this helps for a good start

XI Whitepaper on practical scenarios and capabilities?
Hi All,
I am looking out for a an XI Whitepaper which has some crisp details about what can be done with XI. Maybe what scenarios are best served with XI. ( Have seen glossy SAP slides, but want some practical advise/details which can be implemented technically)
Curently this forum has wealth of information about HOW-TO-Implement technical details, but I failed to find many threads which talk about what all scenarios its possible to accomplish with XI..like file-to-file, xml-to-IDOC , XI connecting to www, or internet to XI, etc etc. I am interested in knowing the scenarios/capabilities and an TYPICAL issues that we might face in these scenarios.
I am fairly a newbie to XI so wanted to know XI more in broader perspective rather than just a File-to-Idoc kind of software
So am just trying to weigh in the perspective/ knowledge about XI at a broader level rather than an How-to approach . Hope you experts can throw some light on this.
Many thanks
ShirinHi Shirin,
Did you ever look the[ XI Wiki |https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/Home]page

Singleton node and non singleton practical scenario
Hi Friends,
Iam totally confused with singleton and non singleton node implementation please explain practical implementation on singleton and nonsingle ton node . In which scenario non single ton node is used.
Thanks in advance
PrasadHi,
Singleton Node:
A singleton node contains only one instace of the node at runtime. And that instace contains multiple elements at runtime.
By default if we create a node under ROOT context node, it will be allways singleton true.
Non singleton node:
A non singeton node contains more then one node instance at runtime. And each instance contains multiple elements at runtime.
It is not possible to create NonSingletonNodes directly under ROOT context node. We can create under any node which is under ROOT context node.
Note: In terms of datastorage at runtime we can say if node is table then each elment of node instance is a row of that table.
When is it requried to create non singleton nodes?
For example if you have list of SalesOrders and each and every oder is having list of items. Then we can create this node structure in two ways:
Orders (singleton true)
> Items (singleton true)
Here in this case at any point of time the there will be only one instance of Items node exist for currently selected element of Orders node. And that instance contains multiple elements nothing but items of that order.
Orders (singleton true)
> Items (singleton false)
Here in this case at any point of time all the instances of Items node exist for all the elements(not only for currently selected element) of Orders node. And those instances contains multiple elements nothing but items of those corresponding orders.
I hope it helps.

SCM Best Practice Scenarios - can't find them on Service Marketplace
I'd like to run Best Practice SCM scenarios such as:
S24 Vendor-Managed Inventory
S41 Supplier-Managed Inventory
S51 Available-to-Promise with Product Allocation
but can't find them anywhere.
In version SCM 5.0 they could be located in the Best Practice Area, but the links are missing now. When I go to the Industry Specific Best Practices (i.e. for Vendor-Managed Inventory), all I see is scenarios related to ECC 6.0.
Thanks in advance for any help locating these.Chris,
Small world. I live out in Chester county.
BPPs can be lengthy and sometimes take a while to load. They are in MS word format, so you must have a way to read MS Word docs. Also, our friends in Waldorff don't always have their servers up. Sometimes it helps to try again later, or during a period of low activity. I usually have good luck during late afternoon and early evening EST time zone.
Here are some links. I haven't tied to load all of them, but I was successful in the first four. Give it a shot.

Backup "best practices" scenarios?
I'd be grateful for a discussion of different "best practices" regarding backups, taking into consideration that a Time Machine backup is only as good as the external disk it is on.
My husband & I currently back up our two macs, each to its own 500 GB hard disk using TM. We have a 1TB disk and I was going to make that a periodic repository for backups for each of our macs, in case one of the 500GB disks fails, but was advised by a freelance mac tech not to do that. This was in the middle of talking about other things & now I cannot remember if he said why.
We need the general backup, and also (perhaps a separate issue) I am particularly interested in safeguarding our iPhoto libraries. Other forms of our data can be redundantly backed up to DVDs but with 50GB iPhoto libraries that doesn't seem feasible, nor is backing up to some online storage facility. My own iP library is too large for my internal disk; putting the working library on an external disk is discouraged by the experts in the iPhoto forum (slow access, possible loss if connexion between computer & disk interrupted during transfer) so my options seem to be getting a larger internal disk or using the internal disk just for the most recent photos and keeping the entire library on an external disk, independent of incremental TM backups. It's probably more than you ever wanted to know about backups, but some of this might be useful:
There are three basic types of backup applications: *Bootable Clone, Archive, and Time Machine.*
This is a general explanation and comparison of the three types. Many variations exist, of course, and some combine features of others.
|
_*BOOTABLE "CLONE"*_
|
These make a complete, "bootable" copy of your entire system on an external disk/partition, a second internal disk/partition, or a partition of your internal disk.
Advantages
If your internal HD fails, you can boot and run from the clone immediately. Your Mac may run a bit slower, but it will run, and contain everything that was on your internal HD at the time the clone was made or last updated. (But of course, if something else critical fails, this won't work.)
You can test whether it will run, just by booting-up from it (but of course you can't be positive that everything is ok without actually running everything).
If it's on an external drive, you can easily take it off-site.
Disadvantages
Making an entire clone takes quite a while. Most of the cloning apps have an update feature, but even that takes a long time, as they must examine everything on your system to see what's changed and needs to be backed-up. Since this takes lots of time and CPU, it's usually not practical to do this more than once a day.
Normally, it only contains a copy of what was on your internal HD when the clone was made or last updated.
Some do have a feature that allows it to retain the previous copy of items that have been changed or deleted, in the fashion of an archive, but of course that has the same disadvantages as an archive.
|
_*TRADITIONAL "ARCHIVE" BACKUPS*_
|
These copy specific files and folders, or in some cases, your entire system. Usually, the first backup is a full copy of everything; subsequently, they're "incremental," copying only what's changed.
Most of these will copy to an external disk; some can go to a network locations, some to CDs/DVDs, or even tape.
Advantages
They're usually fairly simple and reliable. If the increments are on separate media, they can be taken off-site easily.
Disadvantages
Most have to examine everything to determine what's changed and needs to be backed-up. This takes considerable time and lots of CPU. If an entire system is being backed-up, it's usually not practical to do this more than once, or perhaps twice, a day.
Restoring an individual item means you have to find the media and/or file it's on. You may have to dig through many incremental backups to find what you're looking for.
Restoring an entire system (or large folder) usually means you have to restore the most recent Full backup, then each of the increments, in the proper order. This can get very tedious and error-prone.
You have to manage the backups yourself. If they're on an external disk, sooner or later it will get full, and you have to do something, like figure out what to delete. If they're on removable media, you have to store them somewhere appropriate and keep track of them. In some cases, if you lose one in the "string" (or it can't be read), you've lost most of the backup.
|
_*TIME MACHINE*_
|
Similar to an archive, TM keeps copies of everything currently on your system, plus changed/deleted items, on an external disk, Time Capsule (or USB drive connected to one), internal disk, or shared drive on another Mac on the same local network.
Advantages
Like many Archive apps, it first copies everything on your system, then does incremental backups of additions and changes. But TM's magic is, each backup appears to be a full one: a complete copy of everything on your system at the time of the backup.
It uses an internal OSX log of what's changed to quickly determine what to copy, so most users can let it do it's hourly incremental backups without much effect on system performance. This means you have a much better chance to recover an item that was changed or deleted in error, or corrupted.
Recovery of individual items is quite easy, via the TM interface. You can browse your backups just as your current data, and see "snapshots" of the entire contents at the time of each backup. You don't have to find and mount media, or dig through many files to find what you're looking for.
You can also recover your entire system (OSX, apps, settings, users, data, etc.) to the exact state it was in at the time of any backup, even it that's a previous version of OSX.
TM manages it's space for you, automatically. When your backup disk gets near full, TM will delete your oldest backup(s) to make room for new ones. But it will never delete it's copy of anything that's still on your internal HD, or was there at the time of any remaining backup. So all that's actually deleted are copies of items that were changed or deleted long ago.
TM examines each file it's backing-up; if it's incomplete or corrupted, TM may detect that and fail, with a message telling you what file it is. That way, you can fix it immediately, rather than days, weeks, or months later when you try to use it.
Disadvantages
It's not bootable. If your internal HD fails, you can't boot directly from your TM backups. You must restore them, either to your repaired/replaced internal HD or an external disk. This is a fairly simple, but of course lengthy, procedure.
TM doesn't keep it's copies of changed/deleted items forever, and you're usually not notified when it deletes them.
It is fairly complex, and somewhat new, so may be a bit less reliable than some others.
|
RECOMMENDATION
|
For most non-professional users, TM is simple, workable, and maintenance-free. But it does have it's disadvantages.
That's why many folks use both Time Machine and a bootable clone, to have two, independent backups, with the advantages of both. If one fails, the other remains. If there's room, these can be in separate partitions of the same external drive, but it's safer to have them on separate drives, so if either app or drive fails, you still have the other one.
|
_*OFF-SITE BACKUPS*_
|
As great as external drives are, they may not protect you from fire, flood, theft, or direct lightning strike on your power lines. So it's an excellent idea to get something off-site, to your safe deposit box, workplace, relative's house, etc.
There are many ways to do that, depending on how much data you have, how often it changes, how valuable it is, and your level of paranoia.
One of the the best strategies is to follow the above recommendation, but with a pair of portable externals, each 4 or more times the size of your data. Each has one partition the same size as your internal HD for a "bootable clone" and another with the remainder for TM.
Use one drive for a week or so, then take it off-site and swap with the other. You do have to tell TM when you swap drives, via TM Preferences > Change Disk; and you shouldn't go more than about 10 days between swaps.
There are other options, instead of the dual drives, or in addition to them. Your off-site backups don't necessarily have to be full backups, but can be just copies of critical information.
If you have a MobileMe account, you can use Apple's Backup app to get relatively-small amounts of data (such as Address book, preferences, settings, etc.) off to iDisk daily. If not, you can use a 3rd-party service such as Mozy or Carbonite.
You can also copy data to CDs or DVDs and take them off-site. Re-copy them every year or two, as their longevity is questionable.
Backup strategies are not a "One Size Fits All" sort of thing. What's best varies by situation and preference.
Just as an example, I keep full Time Machine backups; plus a CarbonCopyCloner clone (updated daily, while I'm snoozing) locally; plus small daily Backups to iDisk; plus some other things to CDsDVDs in my safe deposit box. Probably overkill, but as many of us have learned over the years, backups are one area where +Paranoia is Prudent!+ -
SAP SEM-BCS demo or practical scenario
Hi!
I have first experience working with SAP BI and have implemented several BI demo scenarios in SAP BI 7.0.
Now I would like to implement a SEM-BCS scenario.
I have a SAP ERP 2005 IDES system and SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 system.
Can some one recommend how to getting started in this area?
- SDN blogs
- SAP courses
- other suitable documentations
Any helpful informatio will be very appreciated and awarded by points
Thank youI concur with Dan.
Additionally, you may use sap help:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem60ep1/helpdata/en/62/f7e73ac6e7ec28e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Though, without a practice in the system I doubt that it we'll be helpful.
Some blogs. Actually, for beginners, one that I know is here:

I didn't see any good documentation (books nincluded) yet.
And certainly the forums dedicated to consolidation. One within the active ones is that were you are now. -
Pricing Help - Need Complex Scenario Approach
Hello All,
Need your advice on the following scenario using seeded function as much as possible
We have three basis on which we can price our customer - Kind of 3 price lists - OEM Price list, Resale price list, Customer Special rate price list and an item can be on all three lists.
Based on the contract with customer value can be picked from either one - like
Customer 1 + Ship From 1 + OEM1 (Item Attribute) = OEM Price - 5%
Customer 1 + Ship From 2 + OEM2 (Item Attribute) = Resale Price + 10%
So say 3 parts in SO, each have different price basis (price list) based on customer contract.
The challenge is users DO NOT want to select 'SO Line Price List'. They would not know which 'Line Pricelist' to select for the item. They want price to auto populate due to high number of lines.
1. Is there a way, that during SO creation, can the price list be auto selected based on modifier/certain conditions ?
2. Any other way, price can be arrived at, if not using 3 price list?
3. Can we have a 4th price list, with custom pricing attribute, which sources price from either of the 3 price lists?
Any pointers would be of great help.
Thanks & regards,
BhaskarThanks for the options...
The issue is that Business wants to store the 'Customer Contract' details somewhere - and is trying to use pricing to do that. In effect there are many possible prices, but based on the qualifing conditions, select the right amt.
In oracle, first price list needs to be selected in line, and then modifiers are applied. Here they want first all qualifiers to run, and then select appoprate price list.
Can we select a price list at run time based on some logic ?
Thanks & regards

Remodelling practical scenarios
Hi All,
I want to know if any body used remodelling in their project .
I want toknow technical scnarios where this is used.
As in remodelling I see lots of limitations,so wnt to be sure first before using in our project to replace some sensitive personnel Information carrrying Info-objects to some new info-objects in CUbes.
Thanks
MukeshHi Mukesh..........
Actually remodeling is use to change a loaded infocube............without deleting the data..........and without rebuild them from the scratch..........Transporting Remodeling is not possible........Suppose in PROD ...........u need to add a new keyfigure or Character..............then we will go for Remodelling..........
Scenarios
1) A new key figure must be added to a particular InfoCube (that can also be
initialized)
2) A new characteristic should be inserted and may replace an existing one.
It can be filled based on the old characteristic.
