Urgent Help Needed - Project System

Hi,
I am using BAPI "BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN" to create Project and assign WBS elements to it. Everything is working fine.
Now I need to maintain settlement rule for created WBS Element. Is anybody aware abt how to pass parameters to BAPI mentioned. Or any other BAPI which I need to use.
Also how to change the status of WBS element to "RELEASE".
I tried using BAPI "BAPI_BUS2054_SET_STATUS" for the same but throwing message "Processing Not possible because there is no initialization".

We had a similar requirement. Also, We had created custom fields in PRPS, (using CI_PRPS). You need to use a set of BAPIs in that case.
They are
1.BAPI_PS_INITIALIZATION
2.BAPI_BUS2001_CREATE
3.BAPI_BUS2054_CREATE_MULTI
4.BAPI_BUS2001_SET_STATUS (To set the status at project level)
OR
BAPI_BUS2054_SET_STATUS (To set the status at WBS element level)
5.BAPI_PS_PRECOMMIT
You don't have to code again for this. Whatever structures and internal tables you had used in BAPI_PROJECT_MAINTAIN can be used to populate the above BAPIs.
By the way, are you able to maintain settlement rule for created WBS element? If you have please let us know.

Project system Budget Needs to be Doubled

Hi All,
I am facing a issue in project system where we have to double our budget, if we need to run a settlement in the system.
For a example, if we have a budget of 100,000 and that is allocated to TWO sub WBS Elements as 50,000 each and when we want to run the settlement run it informs us that the budget is exceeded. So if we need to get the settlement run we have to allocate additional budget to the main WBS Element. But when we checked all the Purchases for the respective WBS, we find that the budget is not exceeded, but the settlement is checking for budget again in the main WBS Element.
This is the way our consultants have configured this and now they are no more in the company. Can any one ex-plane how we can fix this so that we don't need to allocate more budget to the main WBS Element.

Hi Ruchendra,
Have you checked the settlement rule ..It might be receiver as higher level wbs-element in lower level wbs-element.
For example:-
You maintained two 2nd level wbs-element below 1st level wbs with 50000 budget each.
Now you consumed budget and cost inc rued.
Now while settlement this cost moves to higher level wbs-elemnt bcoz of settlement rule.
Thats why it needs budget to cover up that cost.

CProjects - Project Systems Linking and other features

Dear All,
              I need inputs on how to integrate cProjects with Project Systems. Also i need information on the what are all the information we can integrate between these two.
              One more important thing is i am seeing the Services, Details Data and Controlling links in My cProjects system. Where as i found Account Assignment, Costing links in one screenshot of Documents. And both are for cProjects 4.0. Why this difference is showing up
              And one generic question is, what is the requirement for these kind of scenarios. And pros and Cons of both the systems.

Thanks very much for the links. However, I've already gone through the standard documentation in SAP and they are a bit too high level/vague for me. I have considerable experience in xRPM, cProjects Suite and have good grasp of project management concepts, tool and techniques. My knowledge of PS is somewhat limited though.
What I am specifically looking for is what type integration options and scenarios are available. For example, cProjects can have phases and tasks defined. How would these integrate with for example WBS elements and networks in PS? What are the things you would do in cProjects and not PS and vice versa? Hope my question is clearer now.

How to create the Custom project System as Web Project

I have created a custom project system using this walkthrough. But
this walk through is targeting Visual C# project system. I need to create the Custom project system as Web project and set the start up page as index.html file. How can I achieve this?
Note:
I have got the Custom project system sample from VS2013 SDK samples(https://mpfproj12.codeplex.com/).
But it demonstrate the Custom console applications only.

So you didn't even follow this walkthrough yet? If you did, how did you do it?
I failed to create such a web project system because I finally messed up my VS experimental instance. But it's possible to create a custom web project system, by following this walkthrough. Someone else has successfully made it, check this
link.
The difference is that you have to use web project type instead of the console application project type. You could copy a web project's .csproj file into the VSPackage project and rename it to xxx.myproj. There's an error in the walkthrough that the AssemblyInfo.cs
file should be put into Properties folder and set the "Build Action" property to Content, "Include in VSIX" to true.

Sub-contracting through Project system.

Can some one please help me in understanding how Project system (PS) is supporting sub-contracting scenarios.
I am looking for activity sub-contracting and also sub-contracting with Project stock materials.
I am aware of normal sub-contracting through production order and also sub-contracting through MM. I am specifically looking for sub-contracting in PS.

Hi,
If requirements for subcontract items (or services) are generated automatically from PS just make sure that the right document category is used (subcontract) then any requisitions or planned orders etc. will have the right category.
There is no difference between PP, PS and PM effectively, they all use subcontracting in the same way it is just how the requirement is triggered that is slightly different.
If you need details on how to trigger the right type of requirement through PS then you may need to use one of teh financial forums that cover PS? (is there one?)

Project System Cash Management in combination with statistical WBS element

Hi,
within a customer project, we have to solve the following issue:
Customer runs projects and statistical projects in combination with internal orders.
We want to use the PS Cash Management for planned and actual payments.
With statistical projects we have the following problem:
Invoice and actual payments will be processed with the transaction CJFN.
Actual payments are shown only on the internal order (transaction CJIA), but not on the statistical WBS element.
We want the information about the actual payments with in the project system reporting (S_ALR_87013574).
Projects, not flagged as statistical will deliver the expected results.

are u posting to some other cost object also. normally they wud have to be posted to a COPA also with the cost element being 11 category.
the wbs will receive the statistical posting, so there needs to be a real object also.
see whether the real object is getting derived.
the system is nt finding the real object and trying to post with the WBS in real, but since its statistical, the error.
any other calrifications. plz post.

In which tables (ABAP) the Project System Information Will be stored

In project systems can we able to see, against the projects and against WBS what all the sales orders, Employees and material etc... That we assigned, in which STD report we can check all these assignments, from which tables (ABAP) it picks up the data to populate in the STD report.
I need the Tables for preparing the Z- Report. Please help meu2026

The most common overviews with respect to sales and distribution can be obtained from CN54N/ CN55N or you can also use CNS54 / CNS55. Tables for the same are VBAK/ VBAP.
For materials you can refer to CN52N overviews for material components and CO24 for missing parts.
For resources, CN50N provides the capacity requirements and CMP9 workforce planning.

SAP PS differentiates between the following versions:
1. Simulation versions
2.Project versions
3. CO plan versions
In SAP PS simulation versions are modifiable versions of projects. You create a simulation version in the quotation phase, for example, if an operative project does not yet exist or if you want to plan other alternatives to an existing operative project or subproject.
Project versions are snapshots of a project at a specific point and are used for documenting the progress of a project over time. Both quantities and values are stored in versions. Project versions are created either manually or automatically when a status changes.
CO planning versions are used to plan costs and revenues. Using CO planning versions you can define various cost plans for a project, for example, an "optimistic" and a "pessimistic" plan. You can copy values from one version to another. You can change planned values manually in every version. The costed values are retained.

Display to projection system problem

On several projection systems at school I hook up my MacBook with a VGA connection and it works fine. However, there are other projectors that give me difficulty. The display on the computer changes and both the monitor and the projector displays the information much larger than usual and I have to continually scroll back and forth to show the information. I have tried the F7 key. Is there something I might need to adjust before I make the connection to the projection?
Can anyone help me?

I would suggest checking the display settings in System Preferences when this happens. You should be able to adjust the settings there.

Project Settlement @ Project Systems

The moment you say that the settlement to GL account, it is an external settlement i.e CO to FI ( WBS element being a cost object ) . In the allocation you need to have settlement element as an external settlement element with category "22" . When you are settling to a GL account and if it is a cost element then it will ask for a co object still as the system simultaneously needs to post to controlling as well. Yo make this setting for the GL account through automatic account assignment in transaction OKB9.

Revenue Recognition in Project System

Hello All,
At my current client, they are using the Project System (i.e. WBS) only for Cost and Revenue collection. POC,RA,Milestone billing,Network, Activities are out of scope. Keeping the above thing in mind, I need to know how I do the Revenue recognition thru WBS.
Mu understanding is that If I assign a WBS element on a Sales Order line item, as an account assignment it should collect the Revenue. The only requiremnt should be that WBS should be a billing element and Cost/Revenue profile should carry SD relevant settings. Once the billing is done and invoicing is done, the Revenue should appear against the WBS on running the report S_ALR_87013563/64/65/66.
Please let me know if this will work or do I need to do some more configuration from PS perspective.

Hi Sarang,
1. Mark WBS as billing element.
2. Assign the sales order line item to the WBS in point 1 or any WBS below that in the hierarchy.
3. Create a billing plan for the sales order line item.
4. The billing plan amount would appear as planned revenue against the WBS element (provided no credit hold useVKM3 to release).
5. Once the line item has been billed ie. Billing document has been created using VF01 or VF04, the Actual revenue would appear against the WBS element.
In terms of Config:
Creat a planning profile that allows Automatic Revenue planning form Sales Order (tcode: OPSB)
Ensure that the planning profile is attached to your project profile (Controlling tab) (tcode:OPSA).

Buget Exceed problem regarding material transfer in project system

Hello Sir,
I have a problem regarding budget in project system.
when i do budget and release . and do any transaction
with that budgeted wbs element in particular project.
i get budget excced errors usally.
however, budget remains more than exceeded buget.
Let us touch with a example in brief, we have a buget for a L&T project 10 Lakh.
Buget Release actual cost total cost commitment
10Lakh 10Lakh 8lakh 1Lakh
when i transfer a material from another project to this L&T project material worth is 50thousands.
i get a errors for L&T project budget exceed with 40thousands.
however in project budget remains 1Lakh remaining .
why system shows errors for this material transfer worth rs 50thousands
Please help me regarding this problem where is 1lakh budget

there is no any problem regarding budget supplement but if project sometimes
remains 20lakh buget price remaining out of 50lakh.
and need 1 lakh material price for transfer in project
then why need to do budget supplement for 1 lakh if project
remains 20lakh price rest.
