I need serious help!! can't burn dvd or even export to my computer!!

i have tried burning to a dvd and it has always stopped at 2% with a "transcoding error" i read the help page and it said to export it to an AVI file then, start a new project, import that file and that should work. i have tried exporting it to my computer several times and it always stops at 2% and says "unknown error" i have a movie ready that i need on dvd by tomorrow night. what the heck is going on?! can anyone please help a stressed out guy!! thanks so much!!

and regarding the link to the post you sent me with the work around suggestions, this is what i've got:
in reference to suggestion 1, i havent been able to create the AVI file. i tried going to share>burn to PC>AVI and tried both the "uncompressed AVI" and the "microsoft AVI" and both have stopped with errors, usually the "disk full" error. when i tried burning it straight to a disc, it gave the the "transcoding error" at 2% everytime. but i have yet to even be able to make a "pure" AVI file unfortunately.
in reference to suggestion 2, it kinda involves the answer to suggestion 1. i havent even been able to burn it directly to my computer, usually for the "disk full" error reasons. regarding this, i have a copy that i have been saving to saved to my 1TB hard drive with 900 GB free. i am trying to burn to this hard drive so i don't know why its saying "disk full". i installed PE8 on my C drive which has only about 40 GB left on it. should i move that to my 1 TB drive and would that solve the "disk full" issue?
in reference to suggestion 3, my pc is scheduled to do the defragmentation automatically every wednesday morning, so it should be good in that regard. i did a manual defragmentation today tho but it still gave me fits.
i hope this information i what your looking for when you say "respond to the questions i suggested" or whatever. if its way off, i'm sorry, i might be retareded as you can probably tell. thx so much for you help tho! take care!!

if bandwidth is an issue, because you're hosting on your own servers, consider the free codec xh264, you can install as a free QT-plug-in.. with low or super-low bitrates, it offers a superior quality compared to h264 ...

I lost all email 6 months and older in mac mail. In my in-box as a well as all other folders I created. I expected that the mac email software would keep all email as it did for me in when I used to use Outlook. As well I thought I was covered with the Time Machine I have installed. Well.....The Time Machine that I was aggressively encouraged to buy apparently doesn't back up email. If it does, I must need some secret decoder ring to unlock where it is. I need serious help. I lost months of professional and personal data. I need to fix this immediately and find some way to get my email back. Please help.

In March when I upgraded to Lion and iCloud I also experienced a similar problem (cluster of problems) which was solved by a password reset (conforming to new requirements) for my Apple ID. I'm glad to see that many nice people contributed and your primary problem is fixed. My comment is on your Quicken problem.
Your data inside Quicken 2004 is on borrowed time. In the process of researching personal budgeting apps I found many reports on the web that indicate Intuit as a company is scaling down Quicken (desktop) development and its future attention to the Mac platform will be minimal.
Did you know that Intuit is behind Mint.com? You may be hesitant to put your financial data "in the cloud" and I may be being sheepish, but.. bbaaaa, bbaaaaa, the cloud is where it's going. I know first-hand want a pain in the arse it is to customize an app to your liking. I spent several hours on Mint.com setting up categories and tagging transactions. It's tedious. I didn't look because I wasn't a Quicken user, but perhaps Intuit was nice enough to provide a data conversion path for Mint.com. It is worth a look.
My second suggestion is to scour the web for a hack solution. You can't be the only person who is facing this problem. Quicken was very popular. I just bet someone has posted directions or some code for exporting the Quicken 2004 data and manipulating it for something else.

Can iTunes burn DVDs into our idevices?

Since burn CDs is a piece of cake but can iTunes burn DVDs into our idevices.

I haven't tried to convert DVDs to iPod yet (had it for a week) but in the past I tried to convert DVDs to my PocketPC handheld using many tools and found that there is no quick, easy and trouble-free way to do it. The fact that Apple chose to use specific (proprietary) video codecs does not help. You have to get your hands dirty, learn a lot about video, codecs, bitrates and so on. It was more time and energy than I was willing to spend. I may give it another try though. I bought the Apple AV cable to view video on TV and it'd be a shame to not use it.

Cold boot problem with X-FI Fata1ty card... Need serious help!

Hey guys:
I just finished upgrading my computer. Realized that I have a cold boot problem. In order to identify the source of problem. I began the following test.
. Remove everything except, cpu, heatsink, ram, video card. Tried to boot with those devices. => No cold boot problem.
2. Install the rest of the ram sticks (I have 4 x 52 in total). => No cold boot problem.
3. Install the other video card (my setup is 7900gtx in SLI) => No cold boot problem.
4. Install the Creative X-FI Fataty card. => COLD BOOT PROBLEM
Once the computer is shut down via the front power switch on the case, the computer will not boot again. To boot the computer, I need to switch off the main power switch on the back of the psu and switch it back on; then turn on the computer via the front power switch on the case. I tried the problem with and without the sound card. Whenever the sound card is installed. There is the problem. If there is no that sound card in my rig, then there won't be any cold-boot problem.

The onboard sound is disabled. Unfortunately I sold the Seasonic PSU to my friend. The OCZ GameXStream is suppose to be the higher grade psu than Seasonic PSU. Also, the cold boot problem only exists if the sound card is plugged to the motherboard. I tried change different pci slot. It doesn't seem to help the problem. Configuration: MacPro Early 2008, MacOSX 10.6.8
I can not burn dvds anymore and do not know why. I can play dvds and cds though!
The following is the usual error message displaying after clicking the button burn :
I have run Disk Utility from the Install cd of Snow Leopard and the small things which needed repairs have been repaired.
I have reset the PRAM and the SMC (System Management Controller). Nothing.
I have set up a new user account with admin privileges but it did not work.
Please, note that I am trying to burn the same Kodak Pro dvds for photo and data archival that I burned in the past in the same MacPro.
I am actually burning my dvds using my MacBook Pro connected with my MacPro through Airport but it's a very slow process, of course.
Any piece of advice ?

I have read several other posts with the same problem (can't burn DVD's). I could previously. There were no real solutions just the usual diagnostic suggestions. How about reinstalling whatever package burns DVD'? I have Pacifist. What package would that be? Thanks for your help.

I tried various versions of Toast, I've tried the built-in burning utilies. This same set-up burned DVD's fine before. I can read them, I can burn CDs, but not burn DVDs. I have been to the apple forums and found similar posts. I am guessing that whatever burns them has been corrupted. Is possible to reinstall just that part with Pacifist? I using OS X4.10 so my original install disk is old(4.3)I'd like to avoid reinstalling that whole old system. Thanks for your help.

Can't burn DVD's with Tiger

Since I installed Tiger, I can't burn DVD's using either Toast 6.1 or the native Apple burning software. I keep getting "Mismatch at byte...sector9. Verification failed." I am trying to back up a variety of files. I can burn CD's on my iBook G4, but I can't burn any DVD with any kind of content on my Pioneer. I tried PatchBurn with no success. Any suggestions? My guess is your Pioneer drive is connected via Firewire or USB 2. The OS 10.4 install or updates may have caused some problem with the Firewire or USB 2 communication with the drive. Oftentimes these problems are fixed by applying Apple's Combined System Updater. In your case that is the 10.4.4 combined update. It doesn't matter if you are already running 10.4.4.
Otherwise you may need to do an archive and reinstall of 10.4 to get the link working properly.

Argh that's frustrating! I never noticed that key did not work in InDesign.
A bit of research and it turns out the MS Office has this as an option in their software. But I cannot find an option in InDesign preferences to make this work.
However, somethings are not listed in the shortcuts and preferences and are hidden triggers in InDesign which can be accessed through a script.
I'm not saying it's possible to activate the Insert Key through a script, but it's plausible that it can be activated.
Maybe ask on the scripting forum? InDesign Scripting
I know this may be a possibility as with InDesign's earlier versions of PDF export to interactive documents there previously was no way to export interactive pdfs as single pages if in Spreads.
But the option to toggle this setting was scriptable.

STILL can't burn DVDs on Mac OS 10.6.5 after trying everything

Hi there.
Ever since I've updated to 10.6.5, I can't burn DVDs, doesn't matter which brand or what software I use. however, I am able to burn CDs. I went to my local Apple Store and they booted OS 10.6.3 on my computer via firewire and what d'you know ? it burnt a dvd right away. this is clearly an issue with the latest update. I did as they said, reseted my PRAM and even re-installed the latest update (I downloaded the 10.6.5 combo version from Apple Support).
Is anyone experiencing the same ? I know a lot of people had the same issue couple of weeks ago. did anyone successfully overcome it ?

This is an older post from the Roxio Community (http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/39824-toast-burns-cd-but-not-dvd-on-mac/); but seems like similar problem - maybe worth a try:
Either something is preventing the data from being sent to the drive's DVD-writing laser or the drive's laser is failing to start writing the disc. The only thing you can do with Toast is trash the plist and prefs files in the User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunch Toast. You might get a laser-cleaning disc for your drive. (A different laser is used to write CDs than is used to write DVDs). Also try choosing Save as Disc Image with Toast and burn the resulting disc image using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window.
Note that the laser cleaning idea was also mentioned in the previous link provided. Have you tied that? - would be nice if a simple solution worked.

I can't burn DVD's on DVD Studio Pro since I install Snow Leopard

Well, my computer was working great, I had tiger installed and I decided to update to snow leopard and "big mistake" since then I haven't been able to burn DVD's from DVD Studio Pro, at the time to start writing the information to burn it, it shows a message saying " the recording device reported the error #6. Unknown device error. I connected and external dvd burner and when is time to burn it says "The recording device reported the illegal request. Unknown device.
I can easily burn DVD's from iDVD what makes me believe the problem is not with the burner. I went to Melrose Mac and they told me there is a conflict between FCS and Snow Leopard, they suggested to install Leopard instead, he mention many people has complain about the same issue Can that be possible? I got something thinking my computer was going to work better and I screwed it up!

I don't burn dvd's very often, so the challenge is to remember when I do.
Just remember that a disk image is like a "virtual disc", so you want to make Copy using the Image File.
