I need soem assistance with adobe captivate

I currently tried to bring in a powerpoint slide and transfer
into captivate 3. but my graphics did not transfer in correctly.
the 3D eddect did not transfer into captivate - I NEED
HELP!!

Captivate 3 converts these to full motion clips. This may be
worth a try, but I'm guessing you might see the same effect of
losing the 3D bit. You can launch Captivate and PowerPoint, then
press the F9 key to begin recording full motion. Press F10 to stop
recording. Then see if Captivate records the 3D effect as you want
it to be. It may or it may not. But it may be worth trying.

Issue 1 :- Select the SWF file in library, right click, and
select update.
Issue 2 :- Actually it could be valid for Issue 1 also. It
seems like SWF file you are trying to import, does some action
like, importing another swf or connecting to server on the first
frame itself. Captivate will try to play the first frame of SWF
when you import them. Try creating a keyframe with the stop action
as the first frame in your SWF, and see if you still have the
issue.
Issue 3 :- The approach I am mentioning over here is
generally the last approach which I will take in such scenerios,
but since you have already experimented a little, so try this.
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application
Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
Rename captivate_v20.dat as captivate_v20_org.dat.
Restart Captivate Application.

Any alternative webserver to WAMP that works with Adobe Captivate?

We are using Adobe Captivate version 5.5 with an internal website using WAMP 2.1. Recently our ISO found that WAMP's php/apache version is outdated, and require a upgrade, but I checked that even the most recent version of WAMP's version 2.2, its php/apache version is still below our ISO requirement of 5.3.15. I did not find any discussion in Adobe Captivate talking about an alternative webserver to WAMP, is there another option exist? If so, what are the steps to make it work with Adobe Captivate? Thank you...

I have only set up IIS servers on Microsoft Server operating systems, but there is apparently a way to do it in Windows 7 (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/how-to-install-iis-on-windows-vista/ ). However I have never tried this so I don't know if there are any limitations with IIS running on a desktop operating system as opposed to a server operating system.
If you have an existing server running Microsoft Server 2003 - 2012 then you can simply enable the IIS on these and follow the relatively easy wizard to get it up an running.

Once you have a published SWF, it should be possible to insert it as an animation. But be careful to check the default framerate in FlashEff: in Captivate it is 30fps. Moreover as you are probably aware of, this will only be possible for Captivate files published to SWF.

Installation Problems with Adobe Captivate 6 Subscription

I am running Windows 7 (64 bit). I have a subscription to Adobe Captivate 6 and successfully downloaded the files. However, when trying to install I am running into problems. I have 3 options (install with serial number, start my subscription, install trial). I have tried both the subscription and the trial. It says it needs to sign in with my Adobe ID, however the spinning wheel goes and goes for about 1 minute and finally comes back and tells me it can't sign in because either I'm not connected to the internet or my clock settings are wrong. I AM connected to the internet and my clock settings ARE correct. Help!
When I manually log into my Adobe account, I see a serial number listed with my Captivate subscription. Can I just install with that serial number? Or is there something with the Windows firewall blocking my ability to install this subscription?

Please try the solutions below :
Solution 1: Clean up cached user login information.
    Close the Creative Cloud application.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Delete the opm.db file.
    Launch Creative Cloud.
Solution 2: Reset the Hosts file.
    Choose Start > Run, type %systemroot% \system32\drivers\etc, and then press Enter.
    Right-click the hosts file and select Open. Select Notepad for the application to open the hosts file.
    Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file as hosts.backup, and then click OK.
    Search the hosts file for entries that reference Adobe (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
    Save and close the file.

Intelligent Print Widget not compatible with Adobe Captivate 7?

I took a file I developed with CP6 that has the Intelligent Print Widget on the Quiz Results pages into CP7. When I publish the file, I don't see the print widget. I even ensured the swf file is there in the zipped package but still no print button. What happened?

Have you tired another browser?
Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera or Safari will all work with Windows 7, and they will give you far less trouble than IE or AOL will.
Firefox has a built in PDF viewer that's less than perfect, but it works.
On a personal note: I worked for AOL ten years ago. AOL mail (what most people use AOL for) is now a FREE service for ANYONE, so if you have their software installed I'd recommend removing it: you don't need it. If you have a paid account with them, I'd cancel it. You're getting NOTHING AT ALL for a monthly fee that isn't available on their website at absolutely no cost to you.
Also, I just spent an entire day last week reloading an office computer for my brother because Internet Explorer allowed a virus from a page that the other browsers don't allow access to. Internet Explorer is "the problem child" of Internet Browsers, and since AOL uses a seven year old version of Internet Explorer for its built-in browser, you'll find little difference between the two.
Try another browser and see if the problem persists. If it does we'll look at Reader as a cause, but I'd venture an aducated guess it's your browser.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I actually spent over two hours on the phone with tech support this morning and finally got the installation to work. I had to ultimately delete everything Adobe related from my Mac before the install worked.

Need some help with Flash + Captivate (ActionScript in Flash)

I have what I think is a fairly simple question.... I have an SWF File embedded in a Captivate 4 Presentation. The SWF requires the user to click on a variety of items, after they have gone through all the required items a "FINISH" button appears... I want the finish button to "close" the SWF file.
I'll add this info to in case it helps with the "right" answer....
The reason I am doing this is because Captivate automatically rolls from one "slide" to the next. The only way to stop this is to add a "pause" button to the slide, I want the user to have to finish the SWF before they can see the "next" button in the captivate file...So I was thinking, put the "swf" over the "next" button... then have the "complete" button close the swf revealing the covered "next" button in captivate....
The short version of what I need is information on closing an SWF file via a button click. Is there a "swf.visible=false" or anything like that?

Need some help with putting a folder in users directoryI recomend using System.getProperty( "user.home" ) not a hard-coded value.
This will use the users home folder ( C:\My Documents ) on Win9X (I guess), C:\Documents and Settings\<current user> on Win2K +, and ~ on Unix-a-likes.

Captivate could be used to provide recordings of webinars, but isn't a platform for providing actual webinars...
So if you gave a webinar using applicable tools, like Connect or WebEx or such...and recorded that webinar...you could place the video recording in Captivate and add a variety of components (slides, bullets, effects, interactions, etc)...though Adobe Presenter may be better suited as I believe its sold as more a Connect companion...
What are you trying to achieve? Do you have an actual webinar platform already?

Audio problems when publishing to YouTube with Adobe Captivate 5.5

I was using Audacity to record audio, then importing the audio into Adobe Captivate 5.5. One I recorded earlier, before my computer was changed, but published into YouTube after it was changed published fine. But now, after doing recordings with Audacity and within Captivate itself, on different computers and everything, I am getting no sound when publishing to YouTube. It sounds fine in Captivate, but I get zilch sound in YouTube. I have tried different computers to record and listen to the video, different microphones, different audio levels, but to no avail. What am I doing wrong?

How difference between Adobe captivate with Adobe captivate authoring tools

I just confused coz I cant edit the widget via captivate 7. Some expertise said I need to have Captivate authoring tool to edit and modify the widget.
PS. while I clicked on the aidget the library present a link to SWF file.

You do not need any add on to install the widget. The widgets are installed when you install Captivate.
Captivate widgets are created in Flash. If you know Flash and ActionScript, you can create one of your own. The Flash source files of the existing widgets are at:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7 x64\Gallery\Widgets\Source

My project is using both Adobe Creative Suite 3 and
Captivate. With Adobe Creative Suite 3, we can generate on the
command line with a .jsfl file automatically .swf files from .fla
files.
We are looking for the automation solution for captivate ?
Does it exist ? I did not see it mentioned in the online help (I
have just downloaded Adobe Captivate 3).
