I need speakers for my 3rd generation iPod.

I got Logitech's AudioStation Express as a Christmas gift but it doesn't have adock adapter for my 15GB 3rd generation iPod. The only way it works is my connecting the included cable to the headphone jack to the line in connection. As such, you have to lie it flat and all of the remote's functions don't work.
I want to know if there are speakers that support my iPod and it will dock. I want something under $100 to use at work...Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

On a windows go to the control panel and find where it says to "add or remove programs" Go in there and find iPod and iTunes and remove them. Then restart your computer and put in the nano disk and install the software for the nano
No need for any of this.

  • Cable(s) for a 3rd generation iPod (20 Gb)

I recently purchased a used 3rd generation iPod. I just got the iPod itself, i.e., no AC adapter, no cables, no headphones. Although I have read the FAQ and Apple's section on "how to connect", it is not clear to me what cable(s) and what AC adapter I need to buy.
Some background that may explain the problem:
I tried to use my wife's AC adapter (with USB connector) from her iPod photo and this did not charge the battery. Thanks to btabz in this forum, I learned that the problem is that this system will not work in non-photo iPods (the output voltage and current are not the same as what my model needs). On a recent trip, a friend of mine used her adapter, which looked like my wife's, but her cable had a firewire symbol at the end (4 pin?), and that did charge my iPod. Unfortunately, she uses an Apple computer, so I didn't try to load any songs on my iPod. Finally, when I got back home, I tried to use the USB cable to load some songs. It started okay (i.e. it loaded some songs), but quickly stopped and the iPod showed an 'empty battery' icon. Not true. I listened to the loaded songs for over three hours before I stopped (with some charge remaining). I suppose my confusion stems from the fact that my PC doesn't have a FireWire port. I was going to purchase an AC adapter (firewire) and a firewire cable. That should charge the iPod, but then, how do I connect it to the PC?
    Thanks for any help.

Correct, your 3G iPod will not work with a USB iPod charger. You need a Firewire iPod charger and a Firewire iPod cable to charge it from the wall outlet.
I strongly suggest you also get a Firewire PCI card and install it in your PC. Then you can use the Firewire iPod cable to connect the iPod to the PC. As Otto said the iPod will also get power from the Firewire connection. A good card that has been proven to work consistently is the Adaptec Fireconnect 4300.

  • I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I upgraded to lion. I tried to buy an audio book and download it to my nano like I have done at least 50 times before. Now the dialog box states that I need an ipod touch for the same function. MacBook Pro 2008 w/ m.trac

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I recently upgraded to Lion which is causing lots of issues. Aside from that, I went to the Itunes store to purchase books like I have done at least 100 times before with no problems. Now I can by the book and get it to my computer, however when I tried to download the book to my 3rd generation ipod the dialog box informed me that to download any new audiobook purchases I would need an ipod touch. My ipod nano 3rd generation serves my purposes just fine. Why should I be forced to buy something I do not want just to continue something I have always done seamlessly? I know this is more of a rant than a question but I am sure someone else out there has had this happen to them. Maybe you could share your thoughts on how to work around this issue if possible?

I forgot to add the last obvious and crucial step I had taken - plugging a different iPod into my system. It was also not recognized. That was the final proof I needed to determine if the problem was device or system. But now what?
I truly appreciate any help I can get!
    Thanks again...

  • I need a USB cord for a 3rd generation, original model, iPod Touch. The cord for my IPhone 3SG wont work. Can I buy a USB cord that will work?

I have a 3rd generation, original model iPod Touch. My USB conneror cable cord is worn out. I cannot use the newer cord that works with my iPhone 3SG. Can I get a version of the cord that will work with the oroginal version of an iTouch, 3rd generation iPod Touch?
    Thanks for any input.

There is no difference in the cable for the iPod touch and iPhones.
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
For info, what iPod do you have? You said"I have a 3rd generation, original model iPod Touch"
The original iPod touch is the 1G iPod touch.

  • Can I connect my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to external speakers

Can I connect my 3rd generation IPod shuffle to external speakers? When I plug it into an external speaker, it stops playing and I don't hear any music. The controls eg. Volume, play etc is on the earplug cord. Thanks

Not for more than 10% off the price of a new one. You're better off selling it to a third-party.

  • HT1353 I just purchased a 3rd generation Ipod Touch and the latest software is iOS 4.2.1 and I'd like to download some Apps (facebook, words with friends, etc.), but they all need iOS 5. Help!

I just purchased a used 3rd generation Ipod Touch and the latest software is iOS 4.2.1 and I have been trying to download apps (Facebook, Words w/Friends, etc.), but they all say I need to have iOS 5. Help!

Here are some tools to search for compatible apps (The first one is my recommendation).
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
I personally havent looked for any clones of Words With Friends, but I bet you can find something.
Here are a couple apps which say they are compatible with Facebook:
    Chatnow for Facebook
    Friends Planet 2
Quickly for Facebook with Video Chat

  • How can i use my 3rd Generation iPod as a portable harddrive for files...

now that i have a brand new 5th Generation 60Gig iPod, i want to use my old 3rd Generation iPod as a portable storage devise for files and whatever else. not for listening to music anymore. what do i have to do to make this so?
i can just go ahead and use the firewire cable that came with it right? and will i actually be able to upload files to it, and then download them again? like word documents and photo files or spreadsheet or whatever?
will it be cross platform then? meaning will i be able to take it to my friends pc (i use a mac) and download my resume or spreadsheet or whatever else to his machine (of course i would have to use the usb cable then).
know what i mean? i want to use this think like an external harddrive.
    please advise.
iBook and Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.3)   and OSX 10.4 on the MBP

i think ipods are generally set to enable disc mode, so you can use it as a storage device, by default (if yours isnt, plug your ipod in, and go into options to select enable disc mode). just connect the ipod with whatever cord it came with to your computer, then look into the m.. is it called "my harddrive" or "harddrive"? and you should see the ipod connected there on the left side of the window with "network" and "music" etc. if you click on the ipod icon, you can drag and drop files into your ipod just as you would any other folder and use it as a harddrive.
the tricky thing is using it for both pc and mac. i think if its formatted for a pc, you can use it on both macs and pcs. but if you have it formatted for a mac, then only macs can read it.
so if you want to use it on your friends pc as well, format your ipod on a pc first so you can use it on both platforms.

    Of course not.
They will send you the same model you send them.

  • I have a 3rd generation ipod, the screen is broken and the battery is dead, I wanted to know if I can get an exchange for that towards a iphone 4

I have a 3rd generation ipod that was my daughter's.  The screen is broken and the battery is dead but is there any exchange programs to get her a iphone 4?  Her contract for Verizon is up in March 2013 but I wanted to get her an iphone for christmas.  Can anyone help me please?

There is no exchange program. If the damage was caused by the user, it also wouldn't be covered by any warranty, so your best bet is to try to sell it as is or get it fixed and then sell it or keep using it. Some resellers will accept trade ins - I know this company accepts trade ins, but it may just be Macs, not iDevices - you can check though:

If not where I can purchase a 3rd generation lanyard?  Thanks for everyones help!

You aren't required to do so. You can choose not to use the speaker dock or you can return the Nano.

  • No Photo tab under source list for 3rd generation ipod nano

I have a 2nd generation ipod nano and recently purchased a 3rd generation ipod nano. I have the latest version of itunes, however, there is no photo tab under the source list. How am I supposed to import my photos?

I am a brand new ipod user and I have not been able to find the summary, music videos and photos tabs. I have gone into every tab up on the Itunes tool bar and poked around but still can't find it. No such page opens up when I connect the nano. Can someone please help?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Recently downloaded new ITunes.  Can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Help????

Recently downloaded new iTunes.  Now I can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Never had trouble with the old iTunes format.

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (but perhaps it does more)
If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • 3rd generation iPod Shuffle earbuds

Hi, i would like to know if there's any earphone compatible with the 3rd generation iPod Shuffle! I can't find anything on the web. Thanks!

Apple's current headphones (EarPods) do not work with the 3rd gen shuffle.  You'll need to find headphones with compatible remote control buttons, such as the previous Apple headphones.  Or, you can use an "adapter" that has compatible remote control buttons, for example
    http://www.amazon.com/iLuv-iEA15wht-Adapter-Earbuds-Headphones/dp/B002RL9WE0
There are several products of this type.  You can then connect any standard headphones.
