I need the more current version of FireFox to install

My computer(Mac 5G) says I need a more current version of FireFox and I don't know how to install it?

Firefox 3.6.x is the last available from Mozilla for PPC Macs. <br />

After updating to OS 10.8.3 java does not function.  I've validated that the most current version of Java is installed and active in Safari.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes indeed.  See this thread - I have found a fix, but I am hoping once the engineers see this (Bug filed) that someone has an easier method, or a patch.
Something went wrong with the update in certain instances and it kills the Java plugin.  Give this a shot - it takes a bit of time, but worthwhile.

  • Firefox keeps popping up wanting me to upgrade. What happens if I don't? I have tried the more current versions, however my computer continually has problems with it. So I have downgraded to 3.6.

Basically, I just want to know what happens if I choose not to upgrade to the most current version? I keep getting pop ups to upgrade my 3.6 but it always takes me to the download for 6.0! I '''DO NOT''' want 6.0-it sucks! My computer is not even a year old but Firefox 6.0 caused many issues. Plug ins-all updated/current, but 6.0 would not allow some of my programs run properly. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled 3.6. This version seems to be the only one that does not cause problems! If you need any further information, please eel free to contact me @: ''removed''

I don't know why all these programmers won't get a real job, instead of "upgrading" something that worked very well up to a year ago. Every "upgrade" takes away a lot of functionality - and eliminates useful plugins. Sadly, Firefox seems now aimed at kids who like to play with the computer, neglecting people who use the Internet for BUSINESS purposes. Version 6.0 crashes constantly, sometimes every few minutes, so it became totally useless. I'm switching to Opera.

  • Why in the world is the most current version of firefox AND flash having TONS of problems playing hulu videos? either chewing the crap out of my processor but playing ok, or chewing the crap out of my processor and not even playing video at all?

used to be firefox and hulu got along just fine, never had my computer get retarded slow or any of the other things its currently doing while there's a tab open with hulu... but here lately its been eating the snot outta my processor (between firefox.exe and plugin container the two are consistently using 100% of my processor... most of it being firefox.exe itself)
and tonight i cant watch hulu at all. the video shows a frame then its another 10-15 seconds before another single frame is showed.
my firefox is the most current version.
my adobe flash player plugin is the most current version.
there's no reason this should be happening but it is happening and its friggin annoying
    ============================
this happens anytime i'm in the part of hulu that has the player for showing whatever episode i'm attempting to watch. when i attempt to watch hulu i have no other tabs open and no other excess programs running on my computer, and firefox+plugincontainer run my CPU to 100% just between those two processes. i can browse around the internet just fine (like checking my email, or even getting to my queue list on hulu, which i have my homepage set as.. the queue list loads fine but the player part of hulu is when things go to crap)
and i just tried the exact same episode of lie to me that i couldnt watch on firefox.... tried watching it on internet explorer and its playing perfextly fine EVEN WHILE FIREFOX IS OPEN.
firefox is my preferred browser and i hope this junk can be fixed somehow.

  • Do i need to uninstall my current version of firefox to install firefox 4

do i need to uninstall my current version of firefox 3.6.16 to install the NEW firefox 4 ?????

if you have only one OS on your pc. the answer is NO. but you may encounter some problem there. so to avert that, you can do a complete uninstall for the previous version of firefox 3.6.x

  • When I drag the Firefox icon to Applications it asks me if I want to replace a more current version of Firefox with this version that I have just downloaded.

I have lost the exact wording of the message but the implication was that there was already a newer version of Firefox in my Applications file and did I want to replace that with the version I had just downloaded. When it keeps bugging me to download a newer version, can it not tell that the newer version already exists on my computer?

That has to do with time stamps of files (Firefox 3.6.18 was released at a later time) and you can ignore that error and install Firefox 5.

  • I am running windows7 64 need the 32 bit version of firefox to run Adobe?

Tried downloading latest Adobe flash, won't work, recommends downloading your 32 bit version of Firefox? I am running Windows7 professional 64bit, yahoo mail and i think Facebook have drama's with the 64bit version?can you steer me in right direction on how to sort out?

There are two different versions of Flash, the '''''ActiveX''''' version for IE and the '''Plugin''' version used by most other browsers.
1.Download the Flash Plugin version setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    4. Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />
    See this: <br />

  • Do I need to uninstall previous version of Firefox before installing new version?

I am worrried about installing new version (3.6.13 ) since old version (3.0.15) is working o.k. Can you advise?

When you install a release version of Firefox (current version is 3.6.15), it will by default replace the existing version. There is no need to uninstall the old version first.

  • Why does adobe presenter state I need the most current version of flashplayer to view the file?

When attempting to open an adobe presenter file, I am prompted to install the required version of flashplayer.  I currently have both adobe reader 11 and adobe flashplayer 11 installed on my computer.

    Hi,
Which browser are you using?  Have you tried any other browser?  Please check in  Control Panel > Programs & Feature, the flash player installed is Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin or is it different?
If you check in Adobe Flash Player download page, different flash player is provided for IE and for other browser (chrome, firefox), this may be the reason for your issue. Please verify it.

  • I keep getting a message saying I need a more current version of flash player on my computer saying I have to have 9 or above and I have 11.2 on it

It's pretty simple, I get the above message.

I can think of two things that might cause this. First, if a web site's scripts only look at the first digit of the version number, 1 appears to be lower than 9. Such sites should fix their scripts. The second is if you have disabled JavaScript (either globally or for a domain relevant to that site), you may get erroneous messages about plugins not starting, which is because the script didn't run at all.
Can you provide a link to a site or two that has this problem? (Family friendly sites only.)
