I need to access my library on my new computer. My wife has her own itunes account, but we are on the same home network. I do not want her music and vice a versa. Will this happen using icloud??

can you pick what computer shares icloud or is it the entire network??

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
You will not be able to Transfer anything from your Apple ID to her New Apple ID.
Anything Purchased / Downloaded using Your Apple ID remains Tied to your Apple ID.

I need to move my library to a new computer.  my music is downloaded CD's.  Is the only way to do this to sync all songs to the ipod and them sync to new computer.  the new computer is already authorized.

If using a Mac, use Migration Assistant to move your iTunes library from old computer to new.  Afterwards you can sync from your new computer to your iPod.

  • Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Why is this setup now blocked by Apple? Cannot download purchased music.

Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Each of us is using an own individual iPhone, which we frequently update with our iTunes Accounts. We have had this setup for years. It was convenient, reliable and user friendly, since we both could download what we wanted, create playlists, etc. without impact on the other. Exactly this convenience has made me and my wife real Apple fans, so that we also wanted to convince our daughter to move from Android and PC to our easier Apple setup.
Since a few weeks, this setup does not work anymore. From Apple Support (online chat on Apple.at) I was not told that this is not supported any more. Every computer is only allowed to be connected to one iTunes account. From one perspective (sharing music across other users as an act or media piracy, etc.) I can somehow understand this. However, since we are using different user accounts on this computer, I do not have access to other user´s iTunes media and could not play, download or copy it. So what is the point in this?
This now means, that my wife and I are only allowed to download individually purchased music with our personal iTunes accounts only with an interval of 90 days, so every on of us 2 times a year!
Was I incorrectly informed by the Apple support? If so, how can I solve the problem? Or is this really a new policy by Apple? If so, what is the reason? Am I expected to purchase a Mac for my wife, my daughter, myslef and for the three smaller kids to follow soon?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes.

  • HT1567 I can't see any music I previously saved. I tried to see if the it was hidden-my wife has just set up her own iTunes account, so i checked "previous iTunes library and this is now displayed at the top of the screen -is this the problem?

I couldn't see any music on iTunes that I had previously saved. I looked in Previous iTunes library. "Previous iTunes Library" now appears at the top of my iTunes screen, is this the problem? If so how do I fix it so i can access my saved music? Also my wife just before this set up her own iTunes account on this PC.
    Cheers
    Jim

For an updated, I performed an SMC reset and that has solved the problem for the time being. This thread on the World of Warcraft Mac Technical support forum is very helpful, though it seems the issue has not yet been resolved and the SMC reset is a temporary fix at best.

  • Access my library from a new computer

How do i access my library from a new computer?

I have done this but now I get the following error when I try to copy the song to the iPod.
"SongName" was not copoed to the iPod "IPodName" because you are not autorized to play it on this computer.

History: Old computer crashed, got a new one and copied the songs off the old hard drive to new hard drive. Now things do not work right.

  • My daughter wants her own itunes account.  will she lose everything from my account?

My daughter wants her own itunes account.  Will she lose everything from our shared account?

    Hi Randy,
John is correct, there is no true "sharing" it's more like right of use, but she can still use all the stuff she has from your account on her device, it's just a little tricky. My daughter has had her own account for over a year but she had used my account before that. She has her own iPod, Macbook Pro, and now she just bought her own iPhone.
It had never been a big deal to her until she got her phone because she has to use only her account, my e-mail and stuff she does not need on her phone. So use Home Sharing on your computer with her login and her login on her device. The biggest question is are you using two computers or one? With just a single computer it may make it harder because you really have no way of home sharing (I may stand correctly by someone else though). With two computers you just setup home sharing, login to both iTunes accounts with her login, use her computer (or the second computer) and drag all the stuff over to that iTunes library, music, apps, etc. Then they will be on her computer. Then she just drags them on to her iOS device. They will copy and she can use them.
There is no way around updates though. They can only be updated with the original account, which I believe why John stated use iTunes Plus first, because the will not play at all under a different account login. The only advantage that my daughter wanted to use this for was progress on games, so she wouldn't have to start over. Most of our stuff are free downloads so it was not even a repurchase issue as much as time on a game issue.
If you use only one computer, it should work the same way but I have not tried it so I can not say for sure. Logout of you account name and drag the stuff to her iOS device.

  • Want to transfer my iTunes account from our PC to our Macbook, but my wife already has her own iTunes account on it...is this possible?

I am wanting to transfer my itunes account from our PC to our Macbook pro.  Our PC has been riddled with problems and is slower than heck.  The only problem is that my wife already has her own Itunes account on the Macbook.  I have already consolidated the itunes library from my pc and backed it up to an external HD to move, but I have no idea where to go from here.  I don't want to overwrite any of her stuff.  Please help!

There are many ways to accomplish this, depending on how you want it.  Setting up multiple accounts is easy under System Preferences:Accounts.  After that open iTunes on your newly created account.
Now, is where you could do a couple of different things.  If your PC is sharing the same network and you are able to see the files on the PC from the iMac, then just drag and drop the iTunes Library music folder structure (just the part that contains the actual music) into the iTunes window.  If you can't access the PC files, then you need to copy them all to an external hard drive, and import them w/ the same method.
If you don't want to create a second root-level account for yourself, but want to keep the music library separate, create another iTunes Library.  You do this by holding down the Option key while starting iTunes, then click on the Create Library option.  Then import the music using either method above.

  • I have an Itunes account on my wife's computer; but now she wants her own Itunes account on this same computer.  How do I do that?

How can I set up a second Itunes account on the same computer.  I have my Itunes account on my wifes computer and she wants her own Itunes account on this same computer.    Since it's her computer and her Windows log on account, I don't want her to have to log in as someone else.   I have my Itunes account on my own computer...it looks like I might have to take Itunes off her machine (delete the whole program) and then reload with an entirely new account?

Of course you will want to back up through iTunes.   Because you're using the same computer and you don't your wife to use a different login, the only other option is that you will need to create a separate user account (in Windows) on that computer, open iTunes, and restore from the back up.   The two libraries will be separate through the user profile of Windows.    If you had a Mac it would be the same, because you just simply can't have two iTunes libraries coexist under the same user account at the same time.

  • I have a uk iTunes account but have moved to the Netherlands and can no longer connect to the iStore from my iPad. Do I need to update my iTunes account to a Dutch one?

I have a uk iTunes account but have moved to the Netherlands and can no longer connect or make purchases. Do I need to change my account to a Dutch one?

You can't transfer any content from one account to another account (nor can accounts be merged) - all content will remain tied to the account that downloaded it.
Do you not have copies of all of your downloads e.g. on your computer or backup of your downloads/library ? Whilst you are in Australia you can't redownload your UK purchases (you have to be in a country to use its store), if you have them on your computer's iTunes library then you should be able to stream them from it to your Apple TV

She would need her own Apple ID, though not an iTunes Store account per se. This article will probably be of help:

So, if R wants to sync her iphone 5C but still have L pay for it on the family plan, can R just get her own itunes account for buying music and apps? Or is she stuck using L's account?

My daughter received an I phone for Christmas and we set it up using my iTunes account.  She just received an iPad and wants to set up her own iTunes account.  How do we do that without losing all of her content that she added to my iTunes account. I have home sharing on my account.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If she creates her own iTunes account she can't use any protected content purchased under another account. She can play unprotected content synced from an iTunes library on a computer, but she can only download content from the cloud that is purchased under her account.
It's a pain I know, but the longer you put off the move, the worse the situation will become.

  • My kids set up itune account on my computer and no one remembers the password.  I want to start my own itunes account, but I would like to get some of the music off this account.  Any suggestions?

my kids set up itune account on my computer years ago and no one remembers the password.  They started new accounts on their macs.   I want to start my own itunes account, but I would like to get some of the music off this account.  Any suggestions?

The easiest way would probably be to recover the data of the old account and change it to match your current info, after that you can continue to use the account without any problems. To recover your account go to: Apple - My Apple ID
Alternatively if you want to start a new account do it and then contact iTunes support to see if the y can transfer your purchases (I know of cases on which they have done it)

  • I purchased 4 songs today that show up in my purchase history in my iTunes account, but they are not in my Library under recent purchases.  Why?

I purchased 4 songs today that show up in my purchase history in my iTunes account, but they are not in my Library under recent purchases.  Why?

I figured out the problem.  All music purchases now go to the cloud and must be downloaded to each computer or device.  I needed to go to the iTunes Store and look at my recent purchases then click on the cloud to download them.
