Hello,
The company I work for need me to download an app on my phone but first I have to allow apps from unknown sources.
The guidance is based on a Samsung smartphone and advises me to go to settings, then security then unknown sources. However I cannot find anything resembling this on my Nokia phone having searched through settings in the phone and on internet explorer and in apps.
Can anyone advise how I can overcome this problem ASAP?

You can only side-load apps on a developer unlocked phone. What you are describing is the way Android does this.
On Windows Phone once unlocked you copy the app to the SDcard and install it from their or use the developer tools. Which phone do you refer to and what app are you trying to install. Obviously you can't install an Android app onto a Windows Phone device.

I have restricted my sons access/login using the parental controls and everything is working well except that some of his apps run from CD i.e. Wiggles stuff
Anyway, with parental controls on his login does not allow these to run, we get a permission denied error. Is there any preference/control in Tiger or Leopard that will allow his apps to run?

Boot Camp is most likely to work, but requires that you restart the computer to change OSes; nearly all Windows applications will work through this method.
Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion run Windows from inside Mac OS X through emulation. Applications which require direct hardware access likely won't work, and this method is slower than Boot Camp. It is more convenient to use, as no restarts are needed.
CrossOver Mac and CrossOver Games translate the Windows instructions directly to Mac OS X ones. This is the cheapest method if you don 't already have Windows and the least compatible one.
Stating which applications you want to use will enable more specific advice to be provided.

I need to download an application from a trusted source, but not an apple source. Application is apparently downloads, but the computer will not open it. I have turned off my fire wall. I should press control and then the app which should be in the applications folder. It does not appear to be in that folder.

Help needed on upgrading portal application from sp3 to weblogic portal 10

Hi Guys
I have an application which is currently running on BEA Weblogic Portal 8.1 sp3. We need to upgrade our application from 8.1 sp3 to BEA Weblogic 10 version.
(1) Is there any way for upgradation from 8.1 sp3 to portal 10 directly or do I need to upgrade it from sp3 to sp4 and then from sp4 to portal 10? Pls clarify?
(2) How reliable are the BEAs automated scripts for retaining the personalization/customization of my application on sp3 to upgraded version i.e portal 10?
(3) I believe, we do not need to do any coding/design changes/architectural changes into my application for this upgrade.
Any help on this will be highly appreciated

1) I believe only sp4 and later to weblogic 10 is supported (http://www.bea.com/content/news_events/white_papers/BEA_WL_Portal10_ds.pdf)
so yes i think you need to upgrade from sp3 to a later version of the service pack

3) Depends on your application and the features you have used. E.g. I believe Content management has changed between sp3 and what 10 supports.

Help: need to extract an application from oracle/apex directory

Hi, all!
I worked on oracle10xe and apex 1.3.1 and then messed with partition table a bit so got my windows crashed and I don't believe i'll be able to restore it.
so what i have is an oracle directory from the long-dead windows with apex inside, and i need to extract the applications and the data i was working with somehow.
Any thoughts?
Does anybody knows where does oracle store all its databases and where apex keeps its applications?
oraclexe\oradata\xe\ has some .dbf files in it, will it work if i just write them over in a newly installed oracle+apex?

At this point, since you can't turn to Oracle Support (since it is XE), then I would suggest asking amongst your colleagues/friends/etc and trying to find a friendly DBA who will try and help you out for a beer or 3.
Depending on how critical your work was, I wouldn't throw away all hope of recovering your database until you've exhausted all the options.

Need to Access EBIZ Applications from Internet

Hi Experts,
We have configured a Ebiz R12 environment in one of the server.
Now the requirement is , the users want to connect to this Ebiz applications from the public internet.
I guess , configuring the DMZ would be one of option we have. But here we don't have setup for DMZ.
So, can anyone suggest me a simple method which I can follow to access the Complete Ebiz applications from the internet ?
Security is no where concern here. we just need to expose the complete applications to internet.
Please Help me with providing some valuable suggestions.

Im struggling migrating my applications from my G5 power mac to my new macbook pro. My G5 runs on OS X 10.5.8 and when using the traditional tool of Migration assistant my new macbook urges me to update my G5 which it obviously it can't due to its original licensing agreements. I have no codes for my software as it came on the pc: I need , Logic pro 9, the complete adobe CS4 package and final cut pro . How can i put this on my new mac ??

So you never really owned the software to begin with then. Software is licensed and has to be transferred and when you bought your Mac (PC) they really did not.

As for a temporary solution, you can run 10.6.8 as a VM under later versions of Mac OS X like Mavericks so you can have use of Rosetta and it runs the PowerPC code.
Your new Intel Mac can run Windows natively also, can dual boot both Mac and Windows, if that is of any use, for some it is.
Right now you are not in the MacBook Pro forum! :-) This is Mac Pro sans "Book" and is not a laptop at all, but a 'trash can' or tower.

You will also need the .esm, .tct, .ddb (if applicable) files.You should know that your method of restoration will only work if the new database has exactly the same path as the offline database. Same arborpath, same App name, same DB name.Same Essbase version too (in some, not all, cases).

Is there special programming needed to allow JRE applications to be cluster

We have a JRE application runing on tomcat. The vendor is claiming that they can cluster the application just by making some configuration changes.
My question is, can any JRE applicationbe clustered out of the box by just placing in a cluster environment? Or is there also special programming modifications needed so that the JRE application knows it's on a cluster and how to use it?

A web-app can be clustered provided it meets certain criteria. 'Any JRE application' covers a lot more ground than just web-apps.
Basically the answer to your question is 'no'.

We will have development-only support for MDBs in the 6.5 release which is scheduled to release this month. The full EJB 2.0 spec will be supported in the next iteration of the product which is scheduled to be released in the summer.

When I kill that process, audio instantly stops. But it relaunches after 10 minutes or so. The process eats up lots of memory. I've had to restart firefox in safe mode several times as it crashed even before opening. 3.6.6 is majorly flawed and I'm running Windows XP. Time to downgrade to 3.6.4

What is the easiest way to open an application from Labview?

I need to open an application from labview and depending on a user's selection, load one out of a group of files for the application that is opened. I need to know what is the best or easiest way to open an application and load a file that is used by the application based on a selection.

Here is the response that I got from Cognex when I asked them about how to do this. Do you understand what they are talking about?
In order to do something like this you will probably want to look into the Display Control/SDK for In-Sight. The Display Control gets installed along with In-Sight Explorer and includes a control that can be used in an environment like Labview to communicate with In-Sight sensors while the SDK is an enhanced version of the Display Control that gives you more control and functionality. I am not very familiar with the Labview environment so I will give some code snippets in VB.Net and hopefully you can adjust them as necessary. Specifically I see 3 possible avenues to do this:
1) Using the Display Control you have access to many of the dialog boxes that are used in In-Sight Explorer including the Load Job dialog box. You can spawn this dialog box through a line of code similar to cvsInSightDisplay1.Edit.OpenJob.Execute(). I am not certain if the Labview environment will be able to spawn and display this dialog though. 2) With the addition of the SDK (additional purchase) you can directly access sensor properties including the job. There is a method called LoadJobFile to load jobs from on the sensor and LoadJobFileLocally to load jobs from the host machine. A typical line of code might be cvsInSightDisplay1.InSight.File.LoadJobFile("myjob1.job").3) If Labview cannot handle the dialogs and the SDK is not an option for you then you may still be able to do this using Native Mode commands. Native Mode commands are sent through a socket on the telnet port (typically port 23). Keep in mind that you will need to handle the username/password prompt and response when you first open the socket before issuing any Native Mode commands. The command to load a job file from the sensor would be the Load File command which would be a string similar to "LF myjob1.job". The Native Mode commands are documented in the In-Sight Explorer help file.

Start Application from Terminal without Open

I need to start an application from the terminal without using open - I'm using the java exec() command to keep a handle to the application process, and when I use open it returns a handle to open instead of a handle to the application. When I try to putting in the application name, it says "cannot execute binary file". The application also won't let me look inside it to find the name of the executable. Is this possible? How do I do this?

Some applications are not "application bundles". Usually these are older Carbon based apps that may have been ported over from OS 9. <Control>-clicking on these applications will not give you the "Show Package Contents" option because they are not folders (like application bundles are).
However, you can launch these apps from the command line using "LaunchCFMApp". You'll have to specify the full path to LaunchCFMApp followed by the path to the app you want to launch like this:
/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Support/LaunchCFMApp /path/to/app/you/want/to/launch
I'm not a java programmer but perhaps you could use a command similar to the above with java's exec().
