I need to burn data on DVD and need to distribute to PC,

I need to burn data on to DVD and distribute to PC users. The default format is that of Apple. How can I work around this?

Do the following:
Assemble the files you want to burn in folders on the  Desktop.
Insert a blank dick into the optical drive.
Option drag the folders onto the disk on the Desktop.
Drag the disk to the Trash bin in the Dock which will turn into a burn icon to burn the files to the disk.
The disk will be compatible with both Macs and PCs

Yes, one you have your LR 4 user license. (if it was an upgrade from an earlier version then you will also need the earlier version license key.)
You can get the latest update for LR 4 from the link below, and install that instead of the 4.3 version.

  • Error Burning Data to DVD-R's

I have been trying to burn data to a DVD-R with my MAC Dual2.S GHz PowerPC GS with OS X (version 10.3.9) and have been getting an error every time.
I am using DVD-R Verbatime DVD's (16x) and have tried more than one DVD at more than one speed without success.
One other person in my office (with the same computer) has the same problems (with the same DVDS) and two others in my office seemed to be able to get it to work and we cannot figure out vi-by since the variables appear to be the same.
My error occurs only after I try and burn the disc. I seem to have no problem coping data to the DVD but when I go to burn it appears to work at first and than I get an error message which reads:
    'Burning disc: "name*
An error occurred while burning this disc. This disc can not be used.*
Another box also always pops up asking to name the blank DVD (which I already had when the DVD was inserted).
Can you help with this issue?
    Thank you.

    Hi Amrick:
    Welcome to discussions!
You really should not be asking this in this forum. Better to post in the iDVD forums from now on...
But, may I suggest that you use Verbatim DVD-R at 4x or slower to burn. Plus you need to wait for iDVD to ask you to insert the disk prior to inserting it.

  • Burning both a DVD and Blu-Ray

So I have a project going in Premiere that I've sent to Encore. I picked new DVD project and it transcoded it correctly. I then set up multiple menus and burned it to DVD. Now I want to make a high-def version for Blu-Ray. Is there a way to do that by just re-encoding the video from Premiere so I don't have to recreate all of my menus, timeline markers, etc. in Encore? I just need to swap out the HD video for the SD video in Encore.

    Stan Jones wrote:
Thnks for that feedback Alan. I wonder if, doing the resizing in photoshop using "edit in photoshop," there would be a way to keep the navigation in place? I assume by new project you are resizing in photoshop, but bringing this into a brand new project?
I tend to play safe by saving the BR menu as a file, then opening that in Photoshop and scaling.  If I use a still as background I usually scale that separately.  The navigation survives, but due to the Encore's default automatic routing of buttons (unless you know a way to turn that off)  I still have to reset it to my personal preference.
Obviously, I always work BR to DVD, as there can be difficulties with button sub-pictures -circular dots can turn out with a chord slice missing, etc.
Yes it is a brand new project, which means there can be a lot of work to repeat.  Because I use chapter playlists a lot, I have a project saved to use as a template, with a couple of timelines and a dozen playlists each.  That cuts out some of the tedium.

  • PSE8 Burn data cd/dvd error

    Hi,
Had a search and couldnt find anything for this particular scenario but saw a few other burn issues mainly movies.
I have PSE8,Windows 7,new Toshiba Satelellite A500,dont have any cd/dvd burning issues in general, however when I try to use the PSE8 Burn data CD function it goes through the motions of writing the images to the cd then in what seems like the last steps it issues "An error has occurred whilst writing the disc....recommend contact d/drive manufacturer....result 13,command 0 sense:6 asc:40 ascq:0"...the aborts the process.....resultant cd is not readable if placed in another pc.
I can then quit PSE8 and copy images to cd using the provided cd/dvd software that came with the laptop,no errors.
So it looks like there is not a cd/dvd drive issue.
I've uninstalled the cd/dvd device, reinstalled, reloaded drivers etc sometimes this will fix the problem, then I find the next time I try to burn a disc it will return.
Option is obv not to use PSE8 to burn cds of images but its annoying.
Saw the thread on Photo Album and the advice was to disable auto running cd/dvd software at startup on laptop before using PSE8 - which is not my preferred option orr downloading latest Photo Album 1.0.1 - shouldnt PSE8 contain latest software to perfrom this simple task of burning cd/dvd.
    ANy ideas?? thks,Nigel

    Hi,
thks for getting back to me,to answer your suggestions:
    1) I tried this however after making the suggested change I was unable to launch the Organiser
2)This was a recently created new catalog and only has a few images in it,problem occurs with my new catalog and older catalog.
3)This is using a simple RW CD/DvD,tried two different manufacturers Sony and TDK ,same result
Process does seem to go through the motions of writing to the disc......its when it appears the end that theerror message is given indicating a 'process' failure rather than a media issue.
The dics can be burnt if I select copy/move to removable disc option from organiser drop down option from File. However it wont reliably work using the Share/Burn CD/DVD option.
I have no problems using discs for any other application, laptop is only a few months old and has minimal applications on it....works flawlessly for everything else.
    thks,Nigel

  • Burning labels onto DVDs and CDs using light scribe discs

I just recently purchased a HP DV 7 quad core 750 GB hard drive with 8 GB of RAM and a blue Ray player. I was wondering if I would be able to use light scribe discs to burn labels onto CDs and DVDs using my blue Ray player since it is also a super multi drive. Or am I mistaken because I came to understand that HP was making that pretty much standard on their laptops and other computers since they are primarily the makers of the light scribe disc. Please help me this is my first HP computer. Thank you!!

  • Burn files to DVD and keep open or appendable

Ultimately, I am trying to burn a DVD that has a a slide show with some pictures, but then also have ALL the pictures in original size on the DVD as well. From iPhoto, I can share the group of photos for the slide show with iDVD, and it will go over, and I can burn that. But what I was trying to do before I did that, is burn all the pics I want into a folder using Finder burn folder, but it closes the DVD so I can't add anything else. I thought I'd be able to then keep using that DVD for the slide show in iDVD, provided it still had enough room, which it does. Am I going about this the wrong way? Do I need to explain more?

While working in iDVD, you need to add these photos to the DVD-ROM portion. You can read about this feature in iDVD Help: _Adding files to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc_
Here is the basic info. You can read more about this feature in iDVD Help: _Adding files to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc_
+To manually add files to the DVD-ROM part of your disc:+
    +Choose Advanced > Edit DVD-ROM Contents.+
    +The DVD-ROM Contents window opens.+
+Click Add Files, or click New Folder first if you want to create a folder to put the files in.+
+Browse to select your files or folders, then click Open to add them to the disc.+
+You can also drag files directly to the DVD-ROM Contents window. When you are done, just close the window.+
    I hope this helps.

  • BURNING MY FIRST DVD AND "CHAPTERS" AREN'T WANTED ..BUT THEY KEEP APPEARING

My production is ready for the final step ..."burning". I'm using the Revolution Theme. I put the title in the REVOLUTION window and started the burn process. After about 40 minutes the "burn" is completed.
I popped it in the DVD player. My Revoltion title isn't what I had put in. The title now states: "MY GREAT DVD" plus I now have 8 Chapters. My production is only 7 minutes long so I don't want any chapters.
How can I get the title I want to stay and how do I get rid of the chapters?

Those two facts go hand in hand.  It really is best if one get a formal
education in video production before attempting to produce videos.  Or
at the very least, some on-the-job training with a video professional.  Otherwise, your job will continue to be more difficult than it needs to be.
If this is about the last sentence, I'm sorry, what I meant to say is "...i've got no more problems yet, so far", except for the ones I mentioned. About getting some formal education in video production, I don't know if it really will always be good to me to go on with what I have been doing in the long time, put myself in "trouble" and begin asking if circumstances get really worse. Sitting and listening to lengthy discussions is often a boring process for me. Because not until I get my hands dirty, I will never know what's the dirt and how and where to start cleaning. In this case, I'll be your most boring student, yawning, farting, not interacting and not knowing at all what to know.
Now, I am just confident of the knowledge I've accumulated since I begin using premiere and encore although I know I still have to dig deeper. With all those problems posted in its respective forum, I think I attained successfully what became a problem to others. I don't have technical problems except for my pv-gs85 not being recognized by Pr which I've worked around by using third party applications.
I finished my very first DVD video without too much problem. My next goal is to get my stuff to the discriminating eyes of the pros for comments, suggestions, advices, and cajoles. I just don't know yet how to do it. While I was accumulating knowledge, I was amassing dirt, too. At this point, I can assure the video production gurus I'll be among there most eager student.

  • How can I input data from dvd and VHS to iMovie 6?

I am trying to copy excerpts from a dvd that I recorded from a commercial dvd into iMovie for inclusion in a power point presentation. With the dvd in my super drive and using the help menu procecure of 1. Choose File >Import 2. Select the file you want to import 3. Click Open. When I select the dvd icon on my desktop and click Open, I ged a drop down window for importing files for about 20 seconds, but I never have any files presented in the clips squares on iMovie. I get the same results if I drag the dvd icon to the "drag clips her to build your project" strip. Same thing if I drag the icon to the clips squares. However, I never get any data presented in the areas and the play, reverse, review clips buttons. Same thing happens if I try to transfer the file on the dvd (VIDEO_TS) to the same locations. If I try to transfer the seven sub files individually, I get--The file could not be imported: The file “Hard Drive/Volumes/B04101500/VIDEO_TS/VTS_011.VOB” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048--. In all these situations there is no data presented in clips or display, but a gray clip area will go blank. This dvd is about 20 minutes in length and is not broken down into scenes in a menu. I recently upgraded to iMovie 6, so I reloaded the program to no avail. I have previously used iMovie 5, but it will not load as long as '6 is loaded.
Since I also have this data on a VHS tape, I tried to recode it through an ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link converter to enter it into iMovie. In the past this was a simple procedure--connect a VCR player to the converter, connect the converter to the firewire port on the iMac, the system profiler automatically recognizes the converter, start iMovie, then Play on the VCR, and press Import on the File menu. That starts the recording in the past. Now I get another drop down window with an "open" button. However, since there is no software for the Mac with the Pyro A/V, there is nothing to open. Has iMovie 6 made these procedures obsolete?? They have worked in the past.

Hi LesToile - welcome to the forum!
It is not possible to directly import material from a DVD as you are attempting. DVD is MPEG format - iMovie is incompatible with this. In order to use it, you must firstly convert it to DV format. Have a look here:

I have no knowledge of your A/V Link Converter, but if you have a vidcam you can use it to record from VHS to DV tape, and thence into iMovie (there are now problems with the alternative 'pass-through' method using the camera).

(These mention iPhoto 6, but the same can be done with iphoto 3)

  • Experiencing weird burning behaviour on DVDs and CDs

    Hello guys,
It's been a while since I last post.
Well i am experiencing different problems with my SuperDrive. These days I was trying to back up staff to DVD+R's (movies & mp3's). The disk mounts and is visible in Finder. I create the archive of the staff i want to burn and the disk burns fine. But when it comes to validation it fails and gives me a message that the disk is unreliable. Indeed the disk I burn is not readable. Any thoughts? Maybe the disk brand? I tired several DVD's and burning speeds. No result.
Also I cannot erase on my iMac G5, CD+RW disks i have burned on my Mac Mini. Any thougts on that?
The only thing my SuperDrive does well is burning CD-R/+R's or DVD-RW/+RW's. No problems there.
Could it be the brands I use or is it a flow on Mac OS? Would I resolve all these problems with a third party software?( Toast for example...)

I think you will find that DVD-R is the most widely recognizable Media used across the board.
There have been several reports of problems , even with the newer drives with +R and RW formats.
Even though the burners are suppose to use them.
Often a simple visit to the Dive Manufactures site or a Google search of your Model Drive and Burner will offer a Firmware update that many times will solve these issues.
    Cheers Don

  • Attempted to burn data on CD and all information is lost

I was trying to back up some data that I had on my desktop to a CD.
I created a burn folder from the finder and dragged all my data into the burn folder. When I proceeded to burn it the disk was too full so I deleted some of the content (folders) that were in the burn folder to create more space.
Once everything was burnt I opened the CD and there was nothing in the CDr. II then dragged the folders (data) right into the CD to see if that worked and nothing. I know have 4 empty folders on my desktop. Nothing in the burn folder, nothing in the trash and nothing in the CD. Where did everything go?

It could be in the method you used.
Go to your Mac HD and then go to Applications, next scroll down to Utilities at the bottom, Next go to Disk Utility,
When this opens drag the folders you are trying to burn in the large box and then click burn.
    Cheers Don

  • Transfer data to DVD and then to pc

I have a MacBook Pro with Lion OSX and I'm trying to transfer some large directories to my work computer.  I wrote it to a dmg on DVD but can't open it on my PC.  What should I have done to transfer these files.  Thanks,

    windows can't read dmg files.
you can search google for dmg to iso converter if you wish.
or you can zip the files through your mac and unzipped them in windows.

  • Burn DATA to DVD

I have a folder of about 4GB of files that I would like to burn to DVD. I have tried using Toast to no avail. Is there a simply free way of doing this, like with disk utility for instance, that will allow the files to be read on this computer as well as on a WINDOWS based computer?
    Thanks

Thanks, I had tried that already, but wasnt working because Toast was open. It seems whenever Toast 10 is being used, Disk utility cannot function properly.
