I'm probably going to be dropping my old email account, and need to change to my new email address. Is there any way of doing this without totally canceling the Paypal account?

Yes. 1. Log in to your PayPal account and go to your Profile > Profile and settings section 2. In your Info section there is an Email section - click the Update link in the Email section 3. In there you'll see that you can have up to 8 email addresses associated with the account. Click "Add" and add the new email address to your list and then select it and click "Confirm". That will send you a confirmation email with a link to click to confirm the address. 4. Now you can go back to the list, select the new address, and click "Make Primary".

You will have to delete your rescue email address first, then go back and change your primary.

You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.

I needed to create a new email address that I can use to apply to colleges this fall because my email address needs to be more official-sounding (I made it when i was twelve). At first I thought that my email address and apple ID were the same thing so when I discovered that this is not the case, I decided to create a whole new iCloud account in favor of the new email address that comes with it. Following the guidance of apple support I logged out of iCloud, find my friends/iPhone, iTunes, app store, etc. In doing this I deleted my iCloud information from my phone (not the cloud itself). I then created the new iCloud email address on the phone. When I went to change my email address connected to my Apple ID, however, I discovered that there was no "edit" button to allow me to change my primary email address. What would be my best course of action to have a new iCloud email address without losing all of the information stored on my old iCloud account? Is the a way to only change the words in front of the @ symbol in my icloud.com email address? This is all very confusing. I appreciate your responses.

I need to change my apple email as it's my work one and that is finishing. But the only other email I have which I want to use is apparently my back up one and it won't let me use that. Any help greatly appreciated. Jez

You can change your Apple ID to any address, except an address used by another Apple ID. You can change the address of any Apple ID, except an Apple ID that ends with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.

I think I need to change my primary email address

Hi, I am a newbie on here, not awfully techy minded but have struggled my way to this forum as I cannot make sense of the BT help.
I get huge amounts of spam emails usually via mailerdemon that despite setting to spam still get into my inbox. A lot go straight into my spam. They all seem to relate to cameras and sales and they started when I ordered a remote control ages ago from what was probably a less than reputable company. Sometimes these up are to 20 or more all sent at the same time. and from all different addresses. I could tolerate this, it was a nuisance especially when addressing emails all these recipients come up when I type in the first letter or two of a contact but when I got into work this morning, I found an email that I defintely hadn't sent at 4.20 am this moring (I was tucked up in bed) asking how I was and giving a lucky link. Embarassing as it had somehow apparently come from my home email address and had been sent to a lot of people I had emailed in the last couple of weeks but not everyone in my contact book and also sent to some old defunct contacts that I haven't sent to for ages.
So now I've got to do something.
Thinking about it, I had to challenge a credit card transaction a while ago, and could only prove against the company because the IP address they said my email address had come from was not mine.
I have Bullguard installed on my computer, I thought that would stop this sort of thing?
So here's what I want to do.
Change the password on my current by yahoo email account.
Change the email address of the primary account holder (me).
Make sure the old email address is closed.
And make sure that in future I use sub accounts for all non important emails.
What is the quick and easy guide please to changing the main email address and closing the old one.
Will I lose a sub account I already have (my son's).
And what should you use your main email account for only?
Any other advice?When I did speak to someone from BT they just wanted me to set up a new sub account, but I don't think that willl solve the problem.
I really would appreciate your thoughts.

After changing my primary email for Apple ID, iCloud has issues

I recently changed my apple ID primary email address as the old email address is not obsolete which meant I had to turn off iCloud on all devices and log back in so that the username/email was correct for password verification. Now that I have done this, iCal has 7 calendars, reminders has about 4-5 reminders lists and contacts has about 500+ blank contacts.
When I go to delete these extra calendars, reminders and contacts. They delete but within a few seconds they reappear. I've rebooted, I've tried deleting them through icloud.com and also directly from each device. I have 3 devices using icloud. I have turned off 2 of them at a time and tried deleting from the remaining device.
Has anyone got a solution please?!!?? Starting to get frustrating.

The contacts part of my post above has been resolved. I don't think it was related. I am still unfortunately stuck with additional reminders lists and calendars that do not stay deleted.

Switch primary email for iCloud account

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the Apple ecosystem and I must be honest it was reluctant at first. Anyway I've had an itunes account (lets say [email protected]) for some time now. I don't remember setting it up but I also appear to have an icloud email with the same name ([email protected]).
So i've been having some issues with my gmail account recently and i've been considering closing it down. Before I do this I wanted to switch my itunes account (well infact its everything, i'm now using a mac, ipad and iphone) from [email protected] to [email protected] But this doesn't appear to be possible. It won't let me switch to an apple owned domain. This seems weird as I can create a new icloud account using the @icloud.com domain.
Anyone know what i'm doing wrong? Is it possible to delete the [email protected] email that I have, that way I could just create a new account using that address.

[email protected] is permanently part of the ID which created it. As it's the primary address you cannot delete it nor make it the actual ID; and neither primary address nor aliases can be moved to another account. You can change your existing ID to any other functioning non-Apple address provided it's never been associated with an Apple ID.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple IDand that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

You would have to verify a few conditions first :
Ensure that the email address you enter:
Is one that you regularly use since this will be the primary email for your account
Is a valid email address
Is not already associated with another Apple ID you have
Is not an address that ends in @mac.com. @me.com, or @icloud.com
If you meet all those conditions (you might have to dissociate the recovery email from your current Apple ID) and your current Apple ID does not end with @mac.com. @me.com, or @icloud.com, you would follow these steps from the article:
Follow these steps to change the primary email address for your Apple ID:
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), click "Manage your Apple ID," and sign in.
With the Name, ID, and Email Address drawer selected, click Edit next to Apple ID and Primary Email Address.
Enter your new email address.

An iCloud account is an iCloud account. It is not computer or iPad or iPhone specific.
