I need to de-authorize my old computer.

I need to de-authorize my old computer. The problem is I broke it and I can't get into iTunes to de-authorize it. I need to authorize my new computer. Help me please!

Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article. If that's not an option, use the 'contact iTunes Store support' link at the bottom of it.

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • Removed authorization on old computer, but iTunes still tells me I have 5 authorizations in iTunes on other computers, and I need to remove one before I can auth. my new mac! arrrgh!!

I'm trying to authorize my new mac in iTunes, but it keeps telling me i need to remove one authorization from another computer.
I removed the authorization from my old laptop - but it STILL tells me i need to remove one authorization before my new mac can be authorized!! I even removed iTunes on the old computer, but it still doesn't work! What do I do?? I want the music from my iMac to be on my MacBook as well!

Once a year, you can also perform a step called "deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID".  It will clear all 5 authorizations so you can reauthorize the one you want.
    Follow the procedure here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420

So basically you are saying you have a New Computer and you do not have access to your Old Computer and you did not Create and Maintain a Backup of iTunes... Correct.?
And you want to Sync your iPhone to the New Computer... and your New Computer is Authorised...?

  • Do I need to de-authorize my old 2007 MBP before migrating to a new one?re mi

Will the new MBP have all my iPad apps and data in the right place after migrating and with the correct permissions?
Also, is the set-up assistant smart enough to leave all the old PPC programs and associated system files behind? I don't want the clog up the new machine with old irrelevant stuff.
    Thanks a mil.
    Ros

Okay, I just read this on anther thread:
Also remember any old PowerPC (PPC) based apps will migrate but they will not run in ML so you need to either replace or update them prior to migration.
I want to keep the PPC based aps on my old computer and most of them cannot be upgraded on the old system. If I migrate and therefore copy them over, how can I find all the files that relate to those apps to delete them?

  • How to recover Itunes purchases when you can't de-authorize your old computer?

Ok, My HP laptop just recently died on me. Luckily I managed to store  alot of my files/music, etc... before  it finally went.(it was 4 years old and the hard drive was just done) I just  bought a Macbook pro yesterday and while I was setting it up  started sorting out my music first, upon this  I tried  to reinstall my  itunes purchases but it  says that I have to deauthorize them on my old computer... That's impossible for me. How do I go about getting them back?

  • Need to transfer songs from old computer to new one..??

I have a laptop that I was using while my main computer was in the shop for repair. In that time I got an Ipod 30 Gig. I connected it to the laptop and downloaded quite a few songs. After I got my main 'puter back, I installed all the relevent software and so on for the Ipod. I downloaded some new songs and videos to this computer, but it will not go on to my Ipod. I plug in and it asks if I want to overwrite my old library? Well heck no! I want to merge them..so to speak. Well, I let it overwrite but it didn't put any new songs or video on it. Said I was using another library at this time. !!! This is getting very aggrevating. Does anyone know how to get all my songs/video's on one computer and all of them on the Ipod as well???

The iPods will not auto sync betten mulitiple computers. You will have to set it to sync manually. Search for iPod multiple computers there are lots of posts telling you how to do this.

  • Need to de-authorize a dead computer

    To All Interested,
I need to deauthorize a mac mini, that has died, and been sent back to apple.  I was unable to deauthorize it, as it was dead.  I am unable to deauthorize all computers until August of next year, and I can't wait that long.  Any suggestions? Also, why am I not allowed to view my purchased media on anything I like?

You would need to contact itunes support and ask if they would allow another deauthorize all.
"Also, why am I not allowed to view my purchased media on anything I like?"
No idea what you mean.  Please explain

  • Moving files from old computer to new

I have purchased my daughter a Powerbook 1.3 Ghz and need to move her files, applications, etc., from her old Powerbook 400 mhz to the new one. I have an external firewire drive that will make this easy, I think, but I am concerned about what exactly to move so that her safari bookmarks and her iTunes playlists, preferences, etc., all make the jump.
I'm sure there is a trick to doing this. I just don't know what it is.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

  • Remove book marks from old computer

I have transferred bookmarks from foxfire on old computer to foxfire on new computer.
I wish to give the computer away to a relative and want to remove bookmarks and password information. When ever I delete information from bookmark, the new computer's information is changed accordingly. What do I do?

Are both of your computers connected to the same Firefox Sync account? If so, you may need to disconnect the old one from the account. One option is to change your account password using your new computer, and then not update the password on the old computer. This article has the steps for that: [[Disable Firefox Sync on a lost phone or tablet]].
Assuming you have all your information on the new computer and no longer need any data on the old computer, you can uninstall Firefox and use the option to remove your personal information. This will delete your settings folder that includes your bookmarks, passwords, and history.

  • I can't open firefox on an old computer, but would still like to access my firefox bookmarks on that computer, is that possible, if so, how?

My old computer is infected with a virus that won't allow me to open Firefox -or Windows Explorer, for that matter- but since I'm no longer using that computer, that isn't an issue. However, I do need some bookmarks from the old computer. Is it at all possible to find them despite these handicaps? If so, how? I believe I was running Firefox 3 or 4 on the old comp.

*Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
*Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer. Do not remove personal data when uninstalling.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.
