I am having trouble using Adobe Reader and need to deintstall it and then reinstall it.

Are you using Windows or Mac? If Windows you can use the following cleanscript to uninstall

It works for Acrobat and Reader.

I need to reformat my iMac and then reinstall Snow Leopard. What do I need to do to uninstall Lightroom 2 and Camera Raw 5.5 and to restore everything after I reinstall Snow Leopard including the Licence and my data?

Before re installing OS, copy your LR cat file (or files if you use more than one catalog) and the preview folder associated with the catlog, to am external disk. Also ensure all image files associated with the catalog are placed on a disk separate from that where you are going to be re installing the OS. Keep these as far as possible in the original folder structure.
After installing your new OS, download the latest version of LR (do not install an old version from a disk) Do not open it or create a new catalog at this stage. Place your LR cat file(s) back into the original locations. Double click on the LR cat file to open lightroom. Enter your serial number and all will be OK. If you have accidental changed any of the locations of image files in the process you will need to relocate them in LR in the usual way.

Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Nothing to do with the download; you need to open Adobe Reader once after the install is complete, and accept the EULA.

Please be extremely cautious. There are some scam messages which try to get you to install Adobe Reader and some other things that may not be good for your computer.
Let's see if you really do need an update. What version do you have? Start Adobe Reader and use Help > About Adobe Reader to see the exact version (something like 10.1.2).

You don't need Acrobat to view PDF files; can you post a screenshot of that message?
Also, is this a local or online PDF? If online, in what browser?

If you just want to save a pdf opened in Safari to your machine use the save as option from within the Reader plugin window. Just click on any of the buttons highlighted in below screenshots to Save a pdf at any location on your machine.

To summarize the issue, if you had opened an Internet PDF in a browser plug-in, you must use the save feature in the plug-in, not the Safari File > PDF Export, or File > Save As...
Please let us know if this solution works for you and you are able to save and view PDFs files locally.

It takes me back to steps that have already taken of locating down load file double-click to mount the disk image; double-click install Adobe reader; agreed by clicking open; entering name and password and clicking okay.
Did this several times with no success.
