Yes, I got disappointed when I faced this problem at the first place of setup procedure and the FPD image was missing!
Albeit Cisco Support is a good and useful option, but I believe all products should get operational at first with no support service!
Anyway, if there is anybody who can help me to obtain that c6500-fpd-pkg.151-1.sy1.pkg image file, then he/she can writes to my email address, in case this forum is not the place to share Cisco files online!

Problem: I've recently got a new C6506E along with an ASASM for a client. But unfortunately during the boot-up process, the switch powers ASASM down and alerts of a software incompatibility! and it needs a FPD package that doesn't exist: c6500-fpd-pkg.151-1.sy1.pkg Well, obviously I have no service contract available now to download the image from Cisco.
Request: Is there anybody to help me and share the mentioned image file with me? I really need to make the switch and firewall operational very soon.

just got the new ipod touch, however it says i need to download itunes 10.1 however, when i do so... this is what it says Couldn't open "Install iTunes.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5.

Keep getting an error message that I need to download Java Runtime Environment
I have a one year old iMac and just downloaded OS 10.10 (Yosemite). Since doing this 2 weeks ago, I keep getting the same error message telling me that I need to download Java Runtime Environment in order for the webpage to run properly. I have downloaded, installed and checked the installation 3x already. The message goes away for a day or two and then returns.
Any idea on what I have not done correctly or need to do further?
Thanks for your he1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.

5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

difference between .pkg.tar.gz and .tar.bz2 is that the .tar.bz2 is a source package (you'll need to build it), and .pkg.tar.gz is a binary package to be used with arch -
Having had some photos done at a photographers, they have passed me the disc of the slideshow, which is in avi format, however I cannot view it on my imac, I would be really grateful if someone could advise me what software I need to download that is compatible with the imac whereby I can view the slideshow and also whether I can then save the slideshow to iphoto. It should download and install. When you then first launch it and try to log into your CC account, it will ask you what to do. Then you can select to deactivate all other installs.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Hey guys ı really need your help. I bought macbook pro retina 15 inch 2 weeks ago and it came with installed mavericks of course but ı want to create a recovery disk and to do that ı need to download mavericks installer from app store but when i click to download mavericks from appstore purchased part ı get a message says " Your purchasing process couldnt complete. OS X Mavericks cant be installed to this computer." How can ı solve this problem!??
One way around tis is to borrow a Mac that can run Mavericks and then the download will work. You can use these instructions:

I am running OSX 10.6.8 Snow lepard I am trying to install windows on my intel imac 20in late 2006 via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available. I bought the Imac secend hand and did not get the install dvd's with it What can I do?
You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation -
after clicking "yes" to the question "do you want to update itunes now", i waited 2 hours and 15 minutes and it was still "loading". i turned computer off thinking something was wrong. now itunes won't open at all. do i need to download itunes again?
Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update. You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time. And of course make a backup of your whole library first. It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates. Better safe... -
Jeez. Trying to view items in youtube. I keep getting a blacked out picture telling me my browser is out of date and I need to download the update. I do that and then it doesn't connect so I'm back at square one.
Hi MiMattheMac, you probably won't have any problems but just be aware upgrading from Snow Leopard to anything later is a big leap. Old, PowerPC - only programs won't work, for example, and even more recently developed programs won't work if their developers have not been updating them for recent OS X versions.
If you haven't made a backup of your Mac yet, and you consider the information on it important, please consider doing that. It is the only practicable way to "undo" an OS X upgrade should you want to. Merely having a backup seems to preclude the need to ever use it.
If the information on your Mac is not important to you, upgrading to Mavericks is even easier since you can completely erase the Mac first.
In any event let the download complete.
If this raises any concerns about installing it, and you need to ask questions to alleviate those concerns, you can just close this window when it eventually appears:
The 5 GB downloaded file will not be deleted and will remain available until you actually install Mavericks. You can do that at any time convenient for you. -
Iphone says songs are on it, but when I hit play it says I need to download the song
So I had a few strange things happen every since itunes 10 and now more problems since updating to iOS 7 and iOS 8. At first I just started having about 20% of my songs play part way through then go silent for the last part of the song. They work fine on my computer and iPad but not my iPhone nor iTouch. Then after the iOS 7 update which failed the first time on my phone causing me to restore from an update a week prior due to the current back up being corrupted for who knows why.
So after the restore when songs were added to my iPhone 5s, it says I have X amount of music on my phone but shows I still have 15 GB of space left while iTunes says I should have 3 GB of space. I then go to play a song and it shows the little download icon next to it and skips to the next song. This has happened on music I bought and some i Imported from CDs (confusing how I download a song from a CD as it's asking me to do). It was about 250 songs that this happened to out of the 3,500 I was putting on my device.
Then when iOS 8 came out I noticed that music would not sync to my phone because it said I had no space left, it said I needed an additional 28 GB of storage yet I don't even have 28 GB of music. I was trying to add 15 new songs so it wouldn't be that much space. I then tried removing the music by unchecking the sync music box and the phone would sync. After the sync iTunes said the phone had no music on it and about 20 GB of free space. Then I checked it on the phone itself and all of the music was on the phone.
In a fit of unhappiness as often happens to me with Apple products, I manually removed all the music on the phone through the settings interface. Then I synced it back up to my computer. It says it put on about 3600 songs on to my phone and I only have 3 GB free as I would expect. However when I check my phone it says I have 15 GB of free space (very confused how they are so far off). I did notice when it was syncing music it said it was syncing up to 960 songs. Then when I went to play music on my phone it says I have to redownload 2500 songs! Even ones that I imported from CDs I own! Why can my phone not sync with iTunes??? I played 5 songs on shuffle and it went through 117 before it could find 5 that it didn't need to download.Was the music purchased via your iTunes account and/or did you buy it from other sources or copy it from your own CDs, or did the music belong to the previous owner ? If the music was yours then you can sync it back to the iPod via your computer's iTunes. If the music is not still on your computer then have you got a backup of it ? If not then for iTunes purchases you might be able to re-download it depending on which country you are in. If the music was put on the iPod by the previous owner then you will need to buy your own copies of it.
