I need to find my temporary cookies.

I like to download things off web pages for use on my site, i do this using cookies. I can't find my temporary cookies here, so i can't download anything.

You can try to find it on AppleID.Apple.com if you registered it with your AppleID by signing in and going to your products page.
If you purchased it online from the Apple Online Store you can also find it in your order history or the email receipt you received.
If you purchased it from a store then it may also be on your receipt or the packaging.
Final case is if you cannot find it through any of these methods you can call AppleCare from the correct region and see if they are able to obtain it for you from there.

  • I need help finding a laptop :)

I'm a college student looking for a laptop that's going to work pretty fast. I don't really know a lot about computers and whatnot but I'm really only going to be using it for my school work and entertainment/music. I'm not really into computer games or anything. I just want a computer that's goin to stay fast and has a long battery life. My budget is up to about $700. Tell me what you think please!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

To the original poster: Sorry for quasi-hijacking this thread, if you scroll down to the bottom paragraph I get back on point.
    To Nokia:
There is a market for each product, and each definitely has their appeals. The point is when it comes to a truly user friendly experience Apple is a better choice. It is impossible to argue that a similar system doesn't exist on a windows platform for cheaper. The point is, the windows computer does require a little more know how to get around, as well as maintain performance. Mac OS is built on UNIX, just with a very user friend GUI. I understand where you are coming from, but turning this into a debate on technicalities and personal bias is of no use to the original poster. For a student, both are viable options. It all comes down to user preference. Coming from a background of both machines my opinion is that Apple is easier to use for a user who is new to computers. Windows computers can be great for value, the point is that it does require a more hands on approach.
Manufacture warranties are LIMITED warranties that only cover flaws in manufacturing. They do not cover wear and tear. To say so is simple to be uninformed. Manufacturers exclude batteries and power cables as they are listed as consumables. They also exclude most LCD displays although exceptions have been made. Another large loop-hole is their lack of power surge protection. If ANY malfunction of a computer is related to a power surge it will not be covered by the manufacturer. Apple covers everything within the computer beyond simple manufacturing error. This full feature warranty can be extended anytime within the first year or ownership.
You mentioned "free" paid for versions of anti-virus. You also said they were trials, so they expire. They aren't free, but for thirty days or so. Also, most free antivirus software is used as an advertisement tool to get the full version with more powerful removal options. Last, the backup software within windows will NOT allow you to image a disc drive. To argue that it does is to say that you could reinstall the operating system from a user created disc within the os pre-packaged software. Windows 7 does not allow for this. Unless you are Windows Platinum or higher certified here there is no credibility in your end user argument. You do need to remove unwanted temporary files and cookies as they are both a potential security risk as well as wasted storage. The more full a hard drive is, the slower it will function. This maintenance has to be done by, or scheduled by the user. On a Mac it does not. The argument that Macs are for "stupid people" is an insult no matter what way you attempt to spin it. Apple advertises an experience. They sell to frustrated PC users and others who want a more worry free environment to operate. All of this is fact. Apple would in no way insult its population of supporters by calling them "stupid".
So far for your no additional cost Windows experience you have mentioned:
The download of third party software that requires a constant active internet connection to type homework, create presentations, as well as spreadsheets
The download of a free antivirus that will either lack updates, a full database of known threats, or full removal tools and in some cases poorly rated protection
The download and installation of trial antivirus on a monthly basis in order to get "free" paid for versions of legitimate subscription software
The need to purchase or otherwise obtain free backup software to create an image of the HDD in case of failure. Even with the creation of this media, a user who is unfamiliar with computers will most likely not be able to reinstall a full operating system, followed by the aforementioned software that will need to be reinstalled afterward. Not to mention the recovery of personal files as a worst case scenario.
The scheduling or time set aside to clean temporary system files periodically
With the proper setup a windows computer can and will last an incredible amount of time. But it is all in the setup. If you know someone, or a willing to pay for someone that knows how to set up a computer correctly a Windows computer is a great choice. I built a computer for my mother not too long ago. It is running Windows 7 but I invested time and money into getting the right software so that maintenance, anti-virus updates and renewals, system updates, and system backups are all automated. At almost a year old the computer still boots in under a minute from post.
Last, I have the highest level windows certification, as well the equivalent Apple certification and can speak from both experience and understanding of the two systems. Like I said, they both have their advantages. The best way to truly appreciate either operating system is to get hands on with them. Try going into a Best Buy so you can compare the two systems side by side. Ask a knowledgeable associate to show you how each work and see which one is for you. If you are investing in something that is going to last you through college and potentially beyond just make sure you are happy with your choice and have thoroughly explored your options. I would say go into an Apple store but the associates there can only sell their product, and are notorious for strict sales goals. Best Buy's non-commission environment is an ideal place to test out the latest in technology. Also, Best Buy has been deemed the best place to buy a computer with the most knowledgeable staff by computer magazines.
My opinions do not in any way shape or form represent Best Buy's Official decisions.

  • Need to find a calendar to schedule multiple assignments with multiple tasks set on specific days for multiple people

There may be no such animal as what I am searching for, but I thought I'd give it a try.
What I need to do is find a calendar app that allows me to have individual calendars for staff members that I can place a several-days-long assignment and have those people access remotely on an iPad or iPhone (autosync).
I also want to be able to have tasks set on specific days within that assignment that have alerts/reminders for each stage of the assignment.
Being able to custom colour each individual assignment (not just the person's own calndar) is also necessary, as these asignments overlap and need to be easily distinguishable at a glance. Each assignment needs to be its own entity and not affect any furture or previous entries, even if I choose the same colour.
It needs to be in a month by month view and be able to be something each person can subscribe to and sync up with for changes on a daily basis. It does nothave to be a calendar like in the screen shot below, it could be a linear calendar that has days across the top and assignments down the left side.....
Here is a screen shot of a rudimentary excel spreadsheet I have been using. It is awkward and becoming unmanageable as the number of assigments increases and more staff are being added on. And I must send a new spreadsheet out every time I make a change or add an assignment, which is several times a week.
I suspect I may be asking for the world, but if anyone knows a direction I can go in to start a search, I'd be grateful. I haven't had success of my own so far and need to find something soon.
iCal doesn't work for me due to the fact I can only colour code the calendar itself and not the event, plus not being able to have multiple tasks within one event. And the qty of assignments I'd have would see most getting lost, eliminating my abilty to see every staff member's assignmanet at the same time.
Thank you in advance if you have a suggestion and if not, thanks for looking at my dilemma!

  • Need to find professional income tax preparation software, capable of handling 1065, 1120, 1041, 990, etc. preferably PPR compatible with Mac's OS

Need to find pro tax prep software compatible w/Macs. My software maker, Drake, does not have Mac version. I've checked Pro-Series (no) and maybe 1 other. I don't want to spend Lacert kind of $$ (neither do the majority of longtime Lacert users apparently). Obviously, no Turbo Tax, Tax Cut or any other commercial, deduction & crdit missing commercial software. They would ned to have the ability to 1) convert a few years of Drake to their program, 2) Covert files created on PC to files that 10 OS could use. Also, would like them to have reasonable PPR program, free efile, free unlimited states, capable of 1040, 1065, 1120, & (S), 1041, 990. Built in tax knowledge base. I'd be eternally indebted to you if you found sometghing as intuitive and value oriented as Drake but for OS 10. BEGINNING TO THINK APPLE bends over backwords for artistic tools but not so much business tools. Too bad, I've had a few tax returns that have bordered on art.
I will likely need to add Parallels & Windows 7 OS, preferably 64-bit to this Macbook Air. If so, I do not think I have sufficient memory or storage so would like to download & install onto NFTS (sp?) formatted 1TB HD. I do not know if hard drives, USB hubs, Optical drives etc. that work w/ Windows (as long as you choose correctly btwn SATA & IDE) will work on MacBook Air. Help greatly appreciated. So if you happen to know any pro tax prep software ompatible w/ OS 10 and/or, you could give me some info on what characteristics peripherals would need to have to use on MacBook (I'm hoping that most are inrterchanheable but my hoping ain't gonna make it so. OR if you know any great deals on Parallel-I saw some promos but not from reliable places. If I could find on Bradsdeals or Coupon Cabin I'd feel safe. I've seen  an Apple ad for a bundle of software w/ some other decent parts (Snagit) . I'd love to find a promo that applies to the bundle and download all 9programs for $9.99 (right). Too many questions, sorry for any protocol violations.  As you might have noticed, a keyboard is high on my agenda- I hate laptop keyboards though Apple's seems better than most. I also hate using scroll pads. Much rather have mouse. Real challenge is to find Bluetooth OS 10 keybrd that has numeric keypad. I wonder if the financial dept. @ apple uses keyboards w/ no numeric keypad, saw one that started at $99. I spent all the $$ I have on a MacBook, none leftover for overpriced peripherals, esp. w/ 2 kidfs going off to college in Sept.
Thanks for allowing me to whine & ramble. Feel free to call me on any breach of protocol as I am 1st time poster.
Thanks for your time and consideration, I HOPE I'M CORRECT IN MY GUT FEELING THAT I've joined the forces for good by switching. Too many PCs ruined by malware.
    Bill S

Bill I've also run into a very similar problem, I own many Macs but I've had a PC for Tax Stuff. My PC broke and I refused to buy another one so I began to search for an alternative. Window's Emulators have given me so much trouble with my Tax Software.
However, I've since found out that Intuit has a cloud based tax solution that works with a MAC because it's all done online. Which means you'll need a reliable internet connection whenever you want to prepare a client's return.
    It's suppose to support all of the major returns (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S and 990)
I've yet to use this solution, but it's the best thing that I've been able to find so far. This is what I'll be using this upcoming Tax Season.
So I figured that it would be worth mentioning. Good Luck!

  • Need to find out how to lock a point in a path that will not allow the rest of the path to rotate or move around it

    Hello,
I am having some trouble with using shape layers and paths to create a solid, flat 'hair' effect in a cartoon animation.
I have used a semicircle shape layer as the hair on the head itself and then a path with a stroke of the same width as the semi circle to be the long part of the hair.
Unfortunately when I move/rotate the bottom point in the path it causes gaps to appear further up where the stroke is rotating around the point at which the stroke is supposed to "connect" to the semi circle.
I have included a couple of screenshots of me rotating the hair opposite ways so you can see.
    - imgur: the simple image sharer
    - imgur: the simple image sharer
I need to find out if there is a way to lock the top point in place where it joins the semi circle blond hair which will stop this part from moving at all, even rotating around the point.
But the bottom needs to move freely and obviously the part between the two points will move fairly naturally.
If you can imagine how a girl with long hair has her hair attached to her head, it does not move at all, but the bottom moves freely. It needs to be like this.
If you can provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

That is perfect thank you so much!
Can't believe I didn't think of that but you da real MVP!

  • How to find a particular cookie?

I'm having an issue with the LA Times website. I don't normally use it that often, but during March I kept getting directed there via Google for news updates, and I apparently overstayed my welcome, as it started displaying a popup saying my "monthly free limit" of visits had been exceeded and asking me to pay for a subscription. Well, I don't usually visit them very often so a subscription makes no sense. Ergo, I figured I'd just wait until April and the problem would solve itself when the "max monthly free visits" or whatever reset.
Unfortunately when April came I still found myself staring down the damned subscription popup.
So I went to my cookies and deleted the "latimes" cookies -- and yet the popup persisted.
I downloaded and installed Chrome to see what would happen, and using Chrome I can visit the LA Times web site without a problem and read news articles. Ergo, whatever is causing the "pay up!" popup resides in my Firefox cookies SOMEWHERE. I just don't know where!
I don't really want to delete ALL my cookies -- they do some useful things -- so what I really want is to figure out exactly how the LA Times is determining how many visits I've made to their site and get rid of that cookie. They can't be just tracking my ISP address or I'd still be getting blocked when I use Chrome.
How can I find out what cookie is causing the problem? Also, is there a way to keep the LA Times from tracking this data in the future? It's not that I want to cheat them of their rightful revenue, it's just that I really don't use their site that often (or I'd pay for it). I assume they have an interest in my viewing their ads or they wouldn't offer any free page views at all.
An alternative solution would be to somehow tell Google that I don't want it to display any search results it gets that point me to the LA Times so that I don't have to deal with that obnoxious popup when I click to get a news story. I'm perfectly okay with simply not visiting the LA Times for my news but I rarely have the awareness to notice that I'm clicking on an LA Times link before I've gone ahead and clicked on it. I realize this isn't the place to ask that question but if by random chance someone happens to know how to do that instead, that would be great.

Yeah, that was the first thing I did -- I got rid of the "latimes" and "latimesblog" cookie folders, but it didn't solve the problem at all. This is why I'm thinking it's a hidden or inobvious cookie that the site is somehow using to track my visits. Is there any way to actually SEE when a website is writing a cookie and what cookies it's writing?

  • Everytime I open FFox I find over 400 cookies on my machine despite clearing history, deleting them etc - please help me eliminate them I think they are killing my computer!

Thank you for the opportunity to submit this query and hurray for the volunteers who will tackle it! Thank you!
on opening FFox, I routinely run Tools/View Cookies and clear my Error Console. I INVARIABLY find over 400 cookie directories arranged in two "lists". I clear them with Delete All Cookies and carry on.
I have tried limiting cookie access (ie: no 3rd party), and I have cleared my History including Cookies, BUT everytime I open FFox, they are all back!
I have even installed a Mozilla Cookie Killer plug-in, but though it may work, the little buggers are back the very next time I open FFox.
I believe their presence is seriously degrading my old but much loved Dell Inspiron 6400's performance and I would dearly love to be able to remove them permanently.
If you could help I would be very grateful.
    Cheers and best wishes,

That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer.

  • I need help finding a workable web program that is not CSS based.  I tried IWeb and it just won't work for me.  Way too limiting.  I've been using a 12 year old copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver, but the new Dreamweaver is CSS

Been building web pages for nearly 20 years, starting with GoLive.  Went to Dreamweaver about 12 years ago, the Macromedia version.  Tried going to iWeb when it came with a new Mac, but found it way too limiting with it's CSS template base.   Unknowlingly, I then bought a new copy of Dreamweaver.   Ooops, Adobe had bought Macromedia and Dreamweaver, too, is now CSS based, which for my money makes it useless to anyone who likes simplicity.   Now I find that even iWeb has been discontinued.  I was told yesterday that Apple doesn't have a web program any more.   At 12 years old, I just don't think it's practical to try to load my old Macromedia Dreamweaver into the new Mountain Lion (I'm getting a new Mac), though it is running, barely, in Snow Leopard.
I need to find a web builder program that will permit simple construction of educational pages, nothing fancy, nothing artistic, just create a page, give it a color, type or drag in text, insert a table, insert pix in the table blocks, add text under the pix... done!    I should note that I am not looking to build traffic.  I teach simple things for free and people who want to learn those things (antique sewing machine repair, quilting, building longbows) find me.
I've downloaded trial versions of half a dozen or so programs and looked at maybe 20 more, but all are either CSS based and drive me insane with requirments for constantly making rules and template models, and/or require that you base your web presence in their server.   Also, many will not work with pages built in other programs.  I maintian a volume of over 1000 web pages, many requiring regular updating, and they have been with the same server for more than 15 years.  I'm not about to change.
So, anybody know a simple, old fashioned web builder that's happpy on a Mac platform?
    Captain Dick

Although not supported anymore, iWeb does still function using Mountain Lion...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/mountain-lion.html
... and you can purchase it from Amazon.
Start with a blank page using the Black or WHite template.
All modern websites use CSS and there are thousands of free templates to be had if you want to use a code entry style application. You will need to go this route if you want to create a site that is viewable on mobile devices although you can create an iPhone version using iWeb...

You can't tell which device a purhcase was made on, but if your family members each have their own iTunes account to which your card is linked then you can check the purchase history on each of those accounts via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes - that should have 'purchase history' section with a 'see all' link to the right of it

We have 30 ipads at our school and it is great.  We are about 850 student on my school and everyone are using the ipads. One hour at the time. (we have a booking system.)
I teach music and are using Garageband. I need to find away were my students that are working on a project can export the files and save them somewhere, so when they 7 days later open Garage band can import there song with all the correct  midi-tracks. When I export the song to Icloud the song become an Mp4 file (I think).  And I can import the files via Icloude.
This is because too many times the song has been sabotages during the week
    Dan Sweden

    Dan,
your students could store their projects in iCloud, only you would continously have to change the AppleIDs of the iPads, so each student could store the songs with their own AppleID.  I don't think this will be feasable.
The other possibility would be to share the projects to iTunes and to download them to iTunes  on a Mac at the end of each lesson. Does your school have Macs? This will not work with PCs.

If your phone is offline, the ONLY way to find it is to look for it the old fashioned way.  Your phone CANNOT be located electronically if it's offline.

  • I no longer have access to system folders that allow me to remove old or incorrect PAGES templates. Need to find out how to do that. The only way I can do it now is to blank the template and replace the bad template with a blank.

I no longer have access to system folders that allow me to remove old or incorrect PAGES templates. Need to find out how to do that. The only way I can do it now is to blank the template and replace the unwanted template with a blank. It was previously possible to go to MY TEMPLATES and remove the unwanted templates. I don't if this issue is before or since installation of 10.8 (a nightmare in my case, which led to significant failure issues).  And because I haven't tried to remove templates since finally managing to install 10.8 (now at 10.8.4), I don't know if this is typical of the newer OS or a problem. I've been a Mac user for more than 25 years, but I think I'm nearing the end of the road. By the way, I've never needed to do this before because the manuals always offered an answer... they don't seem to do that anymore. In any case, I don't know how this works... I'd prefer an email reply if that's possible. But that would probably be too easy, and I don't know how to get a reply.

Thanks, I appreciate the help.  I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.
