I need to find my WPA passphrase for wireless HP printer.

Hi. Hope you're having a good Sunday. I've got me a brand new HP Photosmart Premium. In order to set it up wirelessly it requires a WPA passphrase. Looking around I have found only "WPA2 personal". The HP didn't like that or my general computer password. Where do I find or how do I create this WPA passphrase. Thanks for any help! Lizz

yeah but if you use 'show equivalent password' using the windows client, it will
not allow you to copy any of that into the clipboard. you can only copy to the clipboard with the mac version! copyinng it into a temporary file, a "windows connect now" flash drive, or simply pasting it from the clipboard into the printers webpage will save you the hassle of having to actually type it in.
especially if you like me and you have a random passphrase
the mac version of airport utility has its own password maker (up to 31 characters), but the windows version does not, heh
do you have any windows computers or bootcamp that has ever connected to your airport? save the wireless configuration to a usb stick, stick the usb stick in the printer. it shouldnt automatically import (my hp printer reads "windows connect now" usb drives)
the passphrase your computer uses to connect is also stored in your keychain..
if you do not have a windows machine you can connect wired to the printer, and if the printer is of recent vintage, it will have its own embedded web server. its a simple as copying the passphrase from "show equivelent network password" and pasting it into the printer's embedded web server.
were trying to avoid having to reinstall the printer drivers (on a windows machine) or sitting in front of the control panel and manually typing in 63 characters at most.
a screwy thing with hp printers and windows is if i change the numeric ip address of my printer, my macs will find it, but all my windows machines require the printer drivers to be reinstalled from the hp cd-rom

Then you have a compatibility issue between the printer and the AirPort.
Temporarily, set the AirPort to no security and check to see if the printer will connect that way with no password.
If it will, then try the WPA/WPA2 Personal security setting on the AirPort, as it is a more compatible setting than the default WPA2 Personal.
But, if the printer will not connect to the wireless network with no security......then it is a no-brainer to understand that the printer will never connect to the network with security enabled. More work will be needed.
    Post back on your results.

  • I cannot find the 'WPA passphrase' to connect my printer via wireless and cannot find it in Airport utility (MAC says it cannot find any open airports)

    MAC OS X 10.6.3 - desktop Mac
I browsed similar questions and saw that someone recommended going to the Airport Utility and then selecting manual set up or something- anyways, it could not find any airports. I have brought my printer from my house as my BF's has died - this is the first time it's asked for a WPA passphrase. We tried a very long series of capital letters and numbers as well as the password for the internet and both times the printer said "invalid passphrase"..... ......

Airport Utility is for administration of genuine Apple Base Stations. If you have a different Brand, Airport Utility can do nothing for you.
    I think they're using ethernet.
To connect a Printer via Ethernet, no password is needed.
We already tried the password for the internet and that did not work...
If a password is required to connect to the Internet, then WiFi is likley being used, and that WiFi password is the one needed for the Printer connect wirelessly as well.
What make&model Printer? Is it indeed a Wireless Printer? Most connect via USB, but that would force it to use a specific computer to assist in printing.

i need to find a working file for the Adobe Download assistant?

I was going to recommend Brother becasue they held OS9 support longer than just about anyone, but their current printers are now supported back to Mac OS10.3 to 10.4, depending on printer model.
If you can do with a b/w laser, the recently discontinued HL5250DN is very nice and OS9 drivers are still up on Brother support site (just checked). We have that model networked at home and its happily serving five Macs plus any visitors who bring their own computer.
This printer has been absolutely reliable and trouble-free. It has both USB and ethernet connectivity (I prefer the latter), does duplex (two-sided) printing, and 1200 dpi res. If you Google the model HL5250DN, you should turn up some of the model still in stock someplace.
If you need color, I'm at a loss for a recommendation there.

  • Need  to find the class type for a material

    Hi all,
i need to find the class type for the material.
is there any FM or the table where i have both MATNR and KLART fileds.
    Kindly reply asap.
    Thanks
    Sri

    Hi,
There can be multiple class types assigned to a material. You can view this in the classification tab in the material master transaction.
You can pass the MATNR to OBJEK field of KSSK table after using neccessary converison Exit to get KLART(Class Type). It will return you a 3 digit Class type. You can find the description of the class from the class type master table TCLA.
    Hope this helps.

Would appreciate best current ideas for wireless AIO printer to pair with MBP (bought late 2011). Time to move forward, leaving Canon along with Dell notebook in recycle bin.  Thanks for any suggestions.

  • I need to find where I can download CD label print. I just got a new computer.

I just bought a new computer and have used CD Label print for years but I can't find it on the Canon website. I could go to some of those 3rd party sites, but they just load you down with stuff I don't want. I need to find out where I can download it. Thanks.

    Hi Macma,
The Easy-PhotoPrint EX program that comes with the printer can be downloaded from the Canon USA website and assist you with printing CD labels.  Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for your PIXMA MG5420.  Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:
    1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "SOFTWARE" section and click the EASY-PHOTOPRINT EX file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.

  • What types of files do HP printers natively support for wireless/bluetooth printing?

I've been trying to find this information, but digging it out of the HP Support Pages is daunting...
What are all the file types that HP wireless-enabled printers can support, without having to have some sort of driver/rip?  Since you can stick media cards directly into many printers, the printing driver/support must reside in the printer itself, so I'm assuming that simply transferring files to an HP wireless-enabled printer will cause them to print, ala the HP iPrint iPhone app.  But, other than the native iPhone image format, what is the full list of types of images/files that can be printed directly to the printers?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Great question, Mark!
We support several formats in our printers.  *Note, depending on the model, some formats may not be supported.  If you want a model that supports ALL formats mentioned look for a PhotoSmart Premium branded model like our new line in hpshopping.com with Bluetooth and Wireless Networking capability.
    Now for the formats:
    For iPhone:
    -Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif)
    -JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)
    -Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
    -Device Independent Bitmap (*.bmp)
    -Tag Image File Format (*.tif)
    -Windows Metafile (*.wmf)
    -Enhanced Metafile (*.emf)
      For Sybian OS models:
    Graphics Interchange Format (*.gif)
    -JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)
    -Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
    -Device Independent Bitmap (*.bmp)
    -Windows Metafile (*.wmf)
The above formats would be used when printing over wireless (wireless N, G, A - depending on radios in phone and access point)
For printing via Bluetooth, and UPnP/DLNA we use an xhtml-print standard to support the following:
    Image Format:
-JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg) -Portable Network Graphics (*.png)
    Document formats:
     XHTML-Print.
    Standard Text

  • Need to find specific OD attributes for an new application.

I have an application that supports LDAP v3 and is requesting the following info. I need to know what the valuse are for these in Apple's Open directory or how to find them on the directory server.
I'm used to setting this app up in a Novell environment and it works great, the company says it will work with Apple's OD but doesn't support it through their tech support.
    LDAP Base DN
    LDAP UID Attribute
    LDAP Group Attribute
It also has a spot for a username and password if needed to authenticate to the directory. Can anyone tell me if this is necessary, and if so can I just use any account or does it have to be a directory admin account.
