I need to get my mac to run Intuit Website builder, a windows-only program. Help?

I've got 2 computers: a Macbook Pro and an iBook G4. Either will do. I might even prefer to put it on the iBook. I'm aware of bootcamp but it seems like an extreme and expensive route for a single program. Any alternate suggestions? I played a bit with CrossOver but the Intuit website wouldn't allow me to download the program since it could tell I was on a Mac. Thanks!

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The usual results of posting etrecheck output on this site without a full description of the problem are very poor.
The many "failed" warnings that etrecheck sometimes spews mean nothing. Those warnings are not a reason to reinstall the OS, or to do anything else at all. They should be ignored.
The better your description of the problem, the better the chance of a solution.
For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.

Keep getting the 'system has run out of application memory' window, what to do?

I'm running a mid 2010 MacBook with 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and OS X 10.9.5. Every time I'm on Safari I get the 'System has run out of application memory' window and it asks you to quit out of programs you're not using. The problem is sometimes the only things running are Safari and Finder. It'll then freeze up programs and prevent web pages from loading or showing up. I'm not quite sure what this means or how to go about fixing it. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are seeing that alert that you are running out of application memory then I would take a look at using Activity Monitor to see how the memory is being used. If it looks normal usage to you, then you may want to upgrade the memory on your Mac. Take a look at the article below for more information.

Text scroll on website is invisible on Mozilla but visible with IE. Used Intuit Website Builder. Thye say it is a Mozilla issue. I have no access to the java HTML code. Even so, how does this get fixed for all who use Mozilla to see?

I am not a web designer. I used Intuit Website Builder to build my company website. The text scroll on the index (home) page is invisible when viewed on Mozilla...but visible with internet Explorer. Intuit said its a Mozilla issue. I am concerned because so many people who use Mozilla will not be able to see the scroll. Help!! BTW, the image scroll on another page on the site (Design A La Carte) is visible on Mozilla and IE.

How can I get a Mac to run a LabVIEW VI that was created for Windows? (it calls DLL files)

This is for a spectrometer. A motor controller is connected by serial and a lock-in amplifier is connected through GPIB. I have a Windows version of the VIs I need to get it all running, but I need to get it running on a Mac. The program was written in LabVIEW 6.0.1 and I have both version of 6.1. Is there a type of file that Mac uses that are similar to DLLs? Is this even possible? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You can open the VIs on a PC or Mac and double click on the DLL node.
It will show you the parameter info, the function name, path to the DLL,
etc.
If you have the source code to the DLL, then make it on the mac using
the Metrowerks CodeWarrior compiler. If you don't have the source, then
you need to either shift to using diagram nodes exclusively or come up
with some other way of replacing the DLL.
For the details on compiling a DLL, you should look at your manual that
came with CodeWarrior and look at the CIN Manual or search online for
something ...

I am 13 but going into high school next year and possibly an elite boarding school that is 9 hours away from my town. I need to get a mac air for school purposes.How can convince my parents to let me get one?

My house has always had macs and my parents don't like pcs. I don't either. They are slow and so far behind from macs. So i am going into high schoo next year and parents don't let me on the computer without asking and have them all password protected. I did have my own ibook g4 but it broke randomly. My mom says i will isolate myself from too much scree time and get depressed but i love macs and i would like to work in an apple store someday but i'm not even allowed to buy my own ipod touch with my own money. But my mom has an new imac, ipad and iphone and ipod and all of this has been gifts to her. But i really need a computer for school. I have written lists of good reasons not like i want it but good ones and asked nicely but my mom just says because and thats the only reason i need to know. and by the way she is a teacher so she thinks technogly is evil. How can i get the mac air??

I really do not want to enter a family discussion about what you should or should not have. If the MBA is to support your school work then you need to present your arguments on that point. If there is a concern about using a Mac when the school supports PCs then point out a Mac can also use Windows on a BootCamp partition so it is fully compatible with both systems.

My Mac is running slow. Advice from former discussions not helping.

I'm a reformed Windows user and love my MacIntosh but is has been giving me problems lately. It has slowed down extremely over the last few months. From everything I've read this is NOT from malware. I was beginning to think it was from me moving and it's location from the WiFi rounter being further than before but it isn't just when I'm on the web but also running applications.
Basically when i click on a window or a program to run, there is no response for 3-5 seconds, then I get the spinning rainbow wheel (for every request!). Then sometimes the window or program will open/run and sometimes nothing. I used to never see this spinning wheel thing - now it is all the time. Closing all programs and rebooting doesn't help. I've run Activity Monitor and rarely is there anything over 2-3% usage except for a Process name mds (30-40% momentarly) or Report Crash taking up 20% momentarly. I have 8GB of RAM installed and have 5.66 of it free and ~800MB of it inactive.
I've run the Permissions Verify under Disk Utility and Repaired and Disk Permissions. I have also Verified the Disk with the Verify Disk button and the S.M.A.R.T. status of the disk is "Verified." I have a 2TB hard drive that is just over half full.
Not that I know what any of the above means - I have no computer background other than a user. But it's to the point I don't even want to sit down to my comuter because I can't get anything accomplished in a reasonable period of time. I've just followed the advice on other blogs here at this website before posting my problem that seems to not be able to be solved by me.

This type of symptom is best resolved by isolating it.
You usually want to start with the least destructive method.
Isolate User-specific from System-wide:
I would start with creating a new Admin user account and testing the responsiveness within that environment. If things seem to respond adequately, then you may have a user-specific problem with your user account. If the same symptoms exist in the new user account, then you may have a system-wide issue with OS X (or other hardware components).
Isolate User-specific issues:
If a new user works fine, then you'll want to isolate what could be the source of the behavior within your user account. Generally, there are typical culprits such as Login Items and Startup Items. Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items. Technically, you're not required to have anything listed in the Login Items box in order for the system to run correctly so consider removing all items from here that aren't needed. You could also try booting into Safe Mode (hold down the left SHIFT key during startup until you see a progress bar appear below the Apple logo on-screen). This will allow the OS to only run Apple software (all 3rd party software is disabled and the display will respond a little slower than normal, that's expected).
Isolating System-wide issues:
If an issues is reproducible in a new user account, there's a few steps to consider. If the problem is with a single application, Remove and reinstall it. If the issue is with overall system responsiveness, this can sometimes be the result of the security permissions set for the system files becoming unusable and needing to be repaired. If you've ever held the power button to turn off your Mac because it has become unresponsive, this can cause similar issues. Files and resources need to be closed appropriately and not suddenly cut-off. Repairing system-level files requires booting to the Recovery HD partition (hold OPTION during startup) and using Disk Utility from there to repair them.

Run Windows only program on Mac for without buying windows?

I need to run a windows compatable only program on my mac. I do not own any version of Windows or any virtualPC/Parallels type software.
I don't want to buy windows or anything for that matter.
What do I do?

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

Hello I am writing on behalf of my fiance as I deal with all of our finances. Basically I have worked hard to get his score up from high 400's (yes that's possible) to all reporting at or above 600. Recently his score plummeted after we opened up two new cards about 2-3 months ago and one showed up on his credit report practically maxed out. I had planned on paying it before the due date but we never got a bill it was reported with the balance before a bill was even circulated but that's a whole other issue. I am trying to recover from that currently he is at : EQU 570 Trans: 583 Exp: 567 we need a 640 to qualify for the down payment assistance program that we are in the process of trying to get. Here's a little background he has 0 collections 1 account with lates but after GW calls and letters they have finally stated they will delete all lates for 2014 but not 2015 which one was a 90 day late in Feb and a 60 Day in Jan. I'm hoping that because they are taking back the original 30 day late that those will be changed to 30 and 60 but we shall see. They said they will report at the end of my statement so 9/1 is the day for that. We recently had a family emergency and maxed out every single card. which is why we are back in the 500's since that's basically are only bad things on his credit (which is nothing compared to what I've got off) I'm hoping getting UTI down will help. TS1587 How can I get my Mac to run properly when it starts up and goes into a Gray Screen?

To cut a long story short here's basically what happened:
Had problems with signing into my Mac, not quite sure what happened. So after a lot playing around with some stuff, I tried to run a Start Up disk, which is now stuck in my Mac and it just goes to a GRAY screen everytime I go to power up my Mac. Have tried all sorts to get it going, but to know avail. There's not even a start up Chime. HELP PLEASE Thanks in advance.

No startup chime is usually the sign of a hardware failure. If you have an installer disc (or if the disc that's stuck in the optical drive is an installer disc) then you need to try booting from it. But the first thing you need to do is:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Next:
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If you can get this far, then you may be able to reinstall OS X without erasing the drive. But you will need to tell us what version of OS X you are using.
