Not having enough space on your hard drive is a problem in itself, OS X likes 10-20% free in order to operate smoothly. Right click on your hard drive icon and choose Get Info to see how much you have free. There are several free applications that will help you identify what is taking up so much space just Google it. If you registered your copy with adobe, you may find download links by going to the main page of adobe.com and clicking on My Adobe and working through the links there. If they're still available there, save the downloads this time, don't just run them, since adobe only makes those available for about 3 years.

ToMeR did you purchase the middle eastern version from Adobe directly? If so then please see Find a download link on Adobe.com for information on how to download your purchased software. If you purchased the software from a reseller then I would recommend contacting them for installation files.

I have desktops and laptops, XP on some, Vista on others. Firefox 5 on all of them.

The prefs browser.history_expire_days and browser.history_expire_days_min are removed in Firefox 4+ versions and replaced with a single places.history.enabled pref to remember history or disable the history.
There is no time limit in Firefox 4+ versions for the history.<br />
Firefox determines automatically how many pages can be kept without affecting the performance.
You can see the current value via the pref places.history.expiration.transient_max_pages on the about:config page.

@Christoph: Um, no there aren't. The only thing I know of is the Belkin TB hub, which is $300 & way more complicated (& bigger) than just an adaptor.

I need the firefox equivalent of Internet Explorer's (v8) "check for newer versions of stored pages under Tools, Internet Options, Browsing history. I cannot find where this would be in firefox and have an application that depends on seeing a "fresh" copy of a page each time it's served up by the web. Please advise.

Keep in mind, CS5.5 was made quite a while before OS10.10, if you do get it running, there's no guarantee that a program that old will function correctly in an OS that new.
