I need to have my gamil account only when i send mail

When I am sending an email it defaults to my old email address at sbcglobal.net. Iwant to use my address at gmail.com

How do I specify the gmail outgoing server if I have multiple gmail accounts in my mail? I have 2 business accounts and when I send mail from one account, it is sent from the other account and the sending email is not from the correct account.

I love my apple email and do not want to use google mail on safari. However, I have 2 gmail accounts set up on apple mail, but when I send mail from one of my gmail accounts (I choose the specific gmail account in the drop down window), it actually goes out as if it is from the other gmail account. I can't have that happen because one is my job, the other is a personal business account and unfortunately, the mail from both gmail accounts want to send through the personal business account. The only good thing is that the incoming messages work properly and they go into the correct inbox. Somebody please fix my outbox!

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account. The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

Have you tried checking the Store drop-down menu in the iTunes interface to see if you are signed in the existing account?

No. You do need an Apple ID, which is the same thing you'd set up to buy content on iTunes or stuff from the Apple store online. This doesn't cost you extra, e.g. $99 for a .Mac account, but you do need to set it up with a credit card.

I suppose I could delete it, but the whole point of multiple accounts is so I can post to either. One is mine, one is my wife's. If it is not enabled why would I need to log into it to post to my own account. The system has no problem associating existing albums with my account, I is only failing to allow me to choose only my account to create an new one. It is clearly designed to handle multiple accounts, but seems to have a bug directing it to ask for the password for a disabled account instead of allowing selection of and posting to the enabled one.

Hey There I didn't need to change it as it shows my correct name in my icloud account. The problem is on my Mac where it still shows my Full name as my partners name.
For eg. if I send an email from "Mail" on mac and I use my icloud account then the name that shows up is my partners name when the email is received. If I send an email from the Icloud Mail box that I log into on my browser then the name that shows up when the email is received is my name which is correct.
When I go into preferences in "Mail" on my Mac to change my name, the name is ghosted out and doesn't allow me to change it ! ? It is here that it still show my partners name ?

You want to uise the newer account with the iPad?
Settings > Store.
Tap account, sign out then sign in with the account you want.

It's not the iTunes account, it's Apple ID that iMessages gets distributed.
