I need to hook up ATV to my projector in classroom.

Currently. tt displays through a vga cord. It is an Infocus Projector (cannot find the model). I was told besides VGA, it also has DVI option.
I need to know exactly what adapter/cords I need (male/ female?) Also if I need additional cords for the audio.
Many thanks!

I am currently using a VGA cord. I did some research and I believe I have an Infocus LP540.
My back looks just like this, except it also has a network
input.

No, computers do not connect directly to the ATV.
If you would like to access content on the computer from the ATV, enable HomeSharing.

  • My office just bought me an iMac and I absolutely need to hook up a second monitor but there is no DVI connection on it, just a Thunderbolt. What do I do? Please help ASAP!!!

My office just bought me an iMac and I absolutely need to hook up a second monitor but there is no DVI connection on it, just a Thunderbolt. What do I do? Please help ASAP!!! The imac is a 21.5" and they also already bought an HD 21.5 ASUS LCD monitor to attach to it. I'm really trying to make this setup work but this is becoming a nightmare. Any suggestions? I looked up  different VGA adapters but the only options for this would be a usb-vga connection which doesn't work on macs. Can anyone tell me if this new Thunderbolt connection will work in some way? Thanks

Using the Thunderbolt port attach a Mini-display to DVI so long as the Asus display is equipped and capable, otherwise Mini-display to VGA will also work. The Thunderbolt port is ahead devices  which are not yet available to take advantage of the increased capacity in speed. Until the devices and connection cables are available, just use the port as a Mini-display port.

It depends on what Mac you have and what version of iMovie. You may need to use Firewire.

  • What cables do I need to hook up my vcr to a minidv

Hi, I want to take my home videos (currently on vhs tapes) and transfer them to my mac mini computer so I can create dvds using imovie and idvd. I have the Sony DCR HC32 minidv (that has the "pass-through" feature). What cables do I need in order to hook my vcr up to the minidv, and what cables do I need to hook my minidv up to my computer? Thanks.

VCR to Digital Camcorder using whatever the highest input interface the camcorder has in common with the VCR (be it S-Video, etc.).
You need a FireWire cable to connect the Camcorder to Mini most likely if its a Sony unit. Check the manual. You will need a Mini-FireWire (probably 4-pin) to 6-pin adapter (this side plugs into your apple mini).
That should do it, most likely iMovie will detect the Camcorder and start sucking down video.

  • What cords do I need to hook up my mac book pro to a Toshiba 32 T.V.

I'm trying to find out if anyone can help me with finding out what accessories I might need to hook up my mac to my toshiba 32 T.V. I could probably use a little guidence when it comes to istallation as well.

Assuming you have a recent MBP, i.e. purchased new in the last couple of years, and that your TV is modern one with HDMI inputs then you need a mini-displayport to HDMI cable.  Apple have one:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H7128ZM/A/mini-displayport-to-hdmi-cable-2m?fn ode=MTY1NDA3Ng&s=topSellers
Installation involves connecting up the cable, then it's pretty much plug-and-play. The MBP should auto-detect your TV and you're good to go!

  • What do i need to hook up 2 dvi monitors to a mac mini

what cable do i need to hook up a second dvi monitors to a mac mini

    XLR8off wrote:
I think I figured it out... use the HDMI to DVI (supplied) and get a Mini Display to DVI cable for the second monitor...?
You are correct. Get the Mini Displayport to DVI adapter, in addition to using the supplied HDMI to DVI adapter.
Mini Displayport is physically identical to the Thunderbolt, and a video signal (for one monitor) can be passed through the Thunderbolt port.
Also note the max. resolutions under "video support" on Mini's tech specs:
Thunderbolt port with support for up to 2560-by-1600 resolution
HDMI port with support for up to 1920-by-1200 resolution
That may determine which of your monitors you hook up to which port. Also don't go nuts with monitors, the mini might not be able to drive them to their max resolutions.

27 inch iMac to a 29 inch Dell Ultrasharp U2913WM monitor. What do I need to hook these two up?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
That monitor has got a lot of ports you can use. The easiest and cheapest way to connect the iMac to the Dell monitor is through a Mini DisplayPort cable, because you do not need any adapter.
Another way you have is to connect it through HDMI. In this case, you need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable

In order to change my apple ID and Password do I need to hook my iPod up to a computer? I have wifi in my house so can I just do it on my iPod?

    ChrisJ4203,
Thank you for the help.  Every app on my phone was downloaded using my old I-tunes ID.  I just hope that they will re-download under my new ID because I still can't change it on my phone.  In order to change to the new ID it says I have to sign out from the old ID and change to the new one.  My problem is that I don't remember my password to be able to sign out from my old ID.  Then the phone says it can change my password through e-mail and I  agree but I never get an e-mail at my old address or the new one.

  • How do i hook my ATV through my surround sound and then to my TV?

    Hi,
I have just bought a Samsung HT-Z120 to play music and video with my ATV through my TV. However i have a slight issue connecting everything together harmonously.
Currently i have 3 RCA components connecting the TV to the Samsung HT-Z120 (surrond sound system) and a HDMI cable connecting my ATV to my TV.
I need to connect the ATV directly to the surround sound but the connections i have left on my surrond sound and ATV are an optical output on the ATV and a audio out and video jack on my surround sound. I know this is a silly question as one is fibre optic and the other is analogue, but is there anyway to connect all this together?

    BPERRO wrote:
No unfrotunatley there is no HDMI output on the surround, neither is there an optical. All i have is 2 rca point and 3 rca component point. I bought it second hand thinking it was a good deal, however i now realise my mistake.
Im not sure im going to be able to make this work, unless there is a magic answer involving the two remaining audio jacks from the surround.
Thanks for both of your replies...
The Apple TV only supports HDMI and Optical Output. I took a look at your Samsung product specifications online and it is a bare bones unit. You will not be able to connect the Apple TV to your Samsung product.

You may have a problem with Nikon's driver software for the 10-year-old scanner, though — Nikon may not have updated it for compatibility with recent OS X versions. Check Nikon's site for updates.

  • G4 titania PB hooking up to a digital projector

    FIrst time to post,,,
I am supposed to give a slide show, so i thought Iphoto would be good as it is fairly simple,,, i took my PB to the bank that is allowing me use of there project,, i thnk a in focus l3 540? anyway, just testing it to see how the photos would look before hand,.
I connected the cord to the little monitor adapter that comes with the computer,(,the one that plugs into the right side with the fairly long rectangle interface with the 25 little pin holes in the nice array with 4 in a square array next to it) i am sure yall know which one, i just dont know the name.,
anyway, we plugged it in and the projector screen kept running through a dialog, searching for device, ( similar language) but in any case, it was looking for a signal, presumably my computer,,
Could someone please give me the proper procedure for using this projector and hookup with this laptop, do i need to turn off the computer first before hooking up or i have seen closing the lid, ,, anyway,, what is the proper procedure for hooking up to a digital projector,,,,
oh, and one more question,, if the projector is a 1024x768, would my jpeg setting of 1000 on the horiz and 750 on the vert with a 96 dpi be a good setting to get good projection detail as it shows on the laptop screen,,
its a basic wildlife slide show,, like the old days,
thankin all in advance for any thoughts,,,

    Hi Kim and welcome!
You have a G4 powerbook, but I'm not sure what model it is.
It sounds a bit newer than my G4 titanium 15"
Maybe it is more like the one at this link?
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/PowerBookG4_15inch1.67-1.5GHzUserGuide.pdf
Sounds like you are referring to the DVI port on the right side. You also plugged in the adapter that lets a regular monitor(in this case the projector) use that port.
    Sounds right so far.
I have Tiger on my computer so my info could be off a bit--take it as it's given: with reservation.
I use the s-video port( the little camera with the "out" written on it) next to that DVI port on your laptop . I bought a long S-viedo cable at radio shack so I could be a bit further from the projector.
When the cables are all hooked up and after I start up the projector, I start up the laptop, open the "system preferences" in the apple menu and open up "monitors". It has a "detect displays" button and I press it.
There is also a little button (maybe only in tiger) that says "show displays in menu bar" I check this button too because it puts a menu at the top of the screen that lets me control the monitors.
If the display shows up on your computer, you also need to turn video mirroring on.This makes whatever you see on your laptop is showing on your TV. There is a check-bow for this OR it is in your menubar now.
The only goofiness that I ran into was that sometimes you have to select the source that the projector is accessing. This is done at the projector end and often with the input button on the remote. If you are using the DVI port with the adapter, then the VGA input needs to be selected on the projector. If you are using the S-video cable(like I do) then you need to select S-video on the projector.
I hope this helps a little bit until somebody else comes along.
