I need to import my windows firefox profile to my imac firefox on the same computer.

I have an imac desktop with vmware for Windows. I have Firefox in Windows but I need to sync up or import my settings,bookmarks, etc from my Windows Firefox into my Firefox for the Mac side. I tried doing this by using the sync option but since it is the same computer, it will not let me use this option.
Any solutions?

Using the same computer shouldn't be a problem with Sync.

all I find on here is how to get favorites out of IE Explorer, how about getting out of firefox on an old computer and into firefox on a new computer? I have an apple ID for myself (for my iPhone), and a different apple ID for my daughter (and her iPod Touch). I think her ipod was set up on a different computer, but I need to be able to update my phone, and her ipod to the same computer.

The problem seems to be that I keep getting an error when trying to update her library. I keeps telling me that she is set up on a different library, but I can`t figure out how to switch libraries.
This is getting quite frustrating, and I would appreciate help in figuring this out.

You could have multiple libraries on one computer and then hold the Shift key down when startng iTunes to choose which library to use.
Or you can have everything in one Library with organized media and apps using multiple Apple IDs.

Controlling a DOS application (or another Windows app) with a LabVIEW application running on the same computer

Does anyone know how if it is possible to control a DOS application (or another Windows app) with a LabVIEW application running on the same computer.
I need to send text to fields on the other (non-LabVIEW) application and possibly menu commands.
If someone knows this is impossible, I'll take that answer too.

It's certainly possible but how you do it depends a lot on the applications you want to control and whether you need to get data back from the other apps. Many Windows apps can be controlled via ActiveX. Many DOS programs can be set up by providing command line parameters and using the System Exec function in LabVIEW. HT1349 Coping iTunes library from a laptop XP to a laptop using Windows 8. I have loaded iTunes on the new computer. I have exported the library to a flash drive. I cannot find how to import the library.

I have tried three different ways suggested on the net to copy my library from my older computer which uses XP to my new laptop which uses Windows 8. I have dowloaded iTunes to the new computer. I have aslo exported the library to a flash drive (I think). When I go into the iTunes on the new computer, I cannot find whwere to import from the flash drive. P.S. I also have an iPod with the library on it. Would appreciate help.

I have created the recommended second user site on my computer.
Also I have Administrator user site on the same computer that I do not wish to use sometimes.
Both users are having the same Mozilla browser (win7) but the second user does not have bookmarks that the first user is having.
I am struggling already almost half a day by using all printed articles but WITH NO SUCCESS.
Please advise ma how to do it. I feel it should not be a big problem.

It can be tricky knowing how to locate and navigate between the different settings folders used by your different installations of Firefox.
To start, I suggest creating a folder that serves as a neutral location that Windows doesn't try to secure between users. For example:
C:\bmks
You can create a backup from the fully loaded copy of Firefox to that folder, then restore it into the empty Firefox. You've probably already found the procedures, but just in case, the following article describes both the manual backup procedure and the restore procedure:

If you have bookmarks in the newer profile that you do not want to lose, you can use an alternate export/import procedure using an HTML file. This doesn't carry over all the same information (e.g., tags). These articles have the details, and again I suggest using a "neutral" folder:

When you're done, you can delete the contents of the neutral folder for privacy.

I seem to be running two versions of firefox at the same time help!

I seem to be running an older version and a new version of firefox at the same time. I run the new version from startup (it forgets previous tabs from last session) and this sadly does not let me use back and forward arrow buttons so its a bit useless. Strangely when I pop an email window up, the older version of firefox appears with the last few tabs I had browsed.
disabling plugins stops browser starting in new version and back and forward arrows work ok.

You can install them both but there are a few steps to take.
When you install Firefox 4 use the custom installation option and choose a different location to install Firefox.
In order to use both versions, you need to create a new profile for Firefox 4 (Firefox stores user data in the profile). Using the same profile with different versions can cause problems. Once you create a new profile you can copy certain data such as bookmarks and passwords between them. You can also use Firefox Sync to keep the profiles synchronized. Finally, you will need to set up shortcuts to launch the correct profile for each version.

How do I use the same profile for two users on the same computer

I use my laptop both at home and at work. And in each venue I use a different user log on. But I wish to have firefox use the same profile for each user log on. How can I get firefox to point to the same profile for each user?

Note that only one user (Firefox instance) can use a profile folder at the time, so if you would switch the Windows user to another account then you would first have to close Firefox.

How do I import an iTunes library stored by a different user on the same macbook?

My husband and I are used to share the same Library and we just have our own playlists. I finally was able to import the my libary from my old Windows computer, but now I face another challenge:
Now I can only see the music files when logged in as user B (me), but user A (my husband) cannot see any of my music files.
I feel like I need to move my files to a shareable location, but don't know how to do that on a Mac.
Then I want to know how I can make sure we do not copy all our music to be twice on the same computer.
Any suggestions how I can resolve this the easiest way?

When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.

All browsers can use the Netscape bookmarks formatted HTML file to copy bookmarks. But according to documentation you can import directly from Safari. Hopefully that applies to your Mac, because it is not shown as an option for me on Windows 7.
