Perhaps you can copy it using a different computer, from the disk to a USB key.
However, external DVD drives are cheap and in my view essential.

  • I need to install an operating system on your hard Disk

My hp laptop is 1 year old and is advising I need to install an operating system on my hard disk? What do I do?

It did have an operating system before right? The hard drive has gotten corrupted or possibly has died. Try hitting F10 as you power up, go into the BIOS (setup) and run the hard drive test to see if it can pass. If so, you have a corruption of the boot files on the hard drive. If there is a failure you are going to have to get a new hard drive. A merely corrupt as opposed to damaged drive can be fixed by running a hard drive scan and repair utility or possibly the operating system will have to be reinstalled. This kind of thing can be caused by a virus, for example. Post back with the results of the hard drive test and we can walk you through your options. I am assuming you are past the warranty period.

  • To install an hp Officejet 4500

Do I use the software that comes in the box of the hp officejet 4500 or I have to download the software using Mac OS x Software Update, which I do not know how to do it?

    Hi,
What exact operating system do you have on your laptop?
If you use a Windows XP, Vista or 7 Starter edition, only basic drivers are available and only a USB connection is supported by the operating system, A Windows Starter edition do not allow enough processes to run and communicate with a printer through the network. if you use any standard edition of Windows the full software will be installed.
The drivers below are intended for Windows XP, Vista or 7 (assuming it cover your operating system?):
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-80348-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
If that does not meet your needs be sure to provide some more details as the operating ssytem version, required connection type, etc.

  • How to install Vista on Satellite A300 without recovery disk?

Please I'm in desperate need of help,
My brother purchased new Toshiba A300-23E in Saudi Arabia. He has little knowledge of computers.
It was on the display threre.
He sent it to my father in Pakistan but soon noticed that it was full of virues and he fresh installed Windows xp SP2 after formating hard drive.
He gave that to me for fixing the problem. As it is designed for windows vista. I want to install windows vista but i havent got the recovery disk or any operating disk.
How am i suppose to install windows vista?
Somebody told me that i download vista trail version and enter the key which is on the back of my laptop.
    Anybody having any idea. plz

    > He sent it to my father in Pakistan but soon noticed that it was full of virues and he fresh installed Windows xp SP2 after formating hard drive.
This was a big mistake buddy
The recovery disk was not shipped with the notebook because there was an preinstalled tool called Toshiba recovery disk creator which allows you to create an own recovery disk.
But this is not possible since the HDD has been formatted and all files have been deleted.
Now you would not be able to recover the unit even using the HDD recovery since the files are not available on HDD.
You need a recovery disk and you can order it from here:

  • How do I install Windows 7 on bootcamp without the disk?

I've been searching all over for an answer, and I can't seem to find anything that works. Here's my situation:
I have 2 macs, a MacBook Pro and a MacBook.  I want to install Windows 7 on the MacBook running 10.7.5 using bootcamp.  I the Windows 7 disk with the product key, but the MacBook does not read or recognize the disk.  After making some noise, it ejects the disk.  The MacBook Pro however, can read the disk.  I have an external usb hard drive, and a 4GB usb stick.  I have been able to download the .iso of Windows 7, as well as copy all the contents of the dvd to the external usb hard drive.  I would like to be able to install WIndows 7 on the MacBook using Boot Camp without using the disk.  I don't care if I have to run it from the external hard drive or the usb stick, I just want to make it happen.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Found an answer.  Basically, you can modiy boot camp so that it thinks you are using a computer without an optical drive, and will therefore give you the option to make a bootable usb.  Genius.

  • Can I install Windows 7 with Bootcamp without a disk

I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium when I also purchased Parallels 7.  My main objective was to use the Windows partition for games that Mac doesn't have (Everquest II for example).  I had no trouble installing Windows with Parallels but the games I want to play work very poorly on the virtual machine.  Is there any way that I can junk Parallels and install Windows using Bootcamp?  Note:  Windows was downloaded from the Parallels web site.  I am using a MacBook Pro with Lion, early 2011, Intel 2.2 GHz i7 processor with 4 GB memory.  Another 4GB memory is in the mail but hasn't arrived yet.  All software is up to date.  Another question.  Would upgrading to Mountain Lion solve the problem?  Please, if there is anyone who knows the answer, give me instructions on how to ditch Parallels for Bootcamp.  Thanks.

You can install Windows in BootCamp (it will be a fresh installation) and you can remove the existing VM installation. Windows will run faster in Boot Camp than it will in a VM (parallels is a VM).
Please note that MacBook Pro's have 2 ram slots, and they will both be occupied with a 2G chip in a standard configuraton, there will be nowhere to install the other 4G that is in the mail. Return it and order 2 x 4G chips and remove the 2 x 2G chips already fitted.

  • Installing Windows 7 onto Mac without a disk drive

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to install Windows 7 to my mac. I've followed numerous instructions and nothing is working.
    I have:
-downloaded the windows 7 iso file
    -created a bootable usb
    -downloaded the additional drivers
-downloaded DAEMON to trick my mac into thinking a disk has been inserted
-mounted the windows 7 iso file on my mac
I then started bootcamp to install windows and it goes as far as selecting the size for each partition but when I click next it stops and won't go any further... An error message is displayed with "Your disk could not be partitioned", "An error occurred while partitioning the disk".
Is anyone able to help? I've tried almost everything !
    Thanks

    Hey.
You are doing things the way I would do them.
Double check that your ISO is good by downloading it again for good measure.
Then before running BootCamp, use Disk Utility to repair any dodgy permissions and to verify the disk.
This is always worth doing before BootCamping.
Now when you get to the dark side and it asks you to select a partition, make sure you are clicking on the "BOOTCAMP" one, which I assume you are.
Below you will see "New". Click that and all should be good.
Let me know when you've tried this.

  • Installing photoshop on other systems without a disk

My problem is a pretty simple one, but one I cant solve T_T.
Basicly, I was lucky enough to get a copy of photoshop elements in a package with with sony viao laptop (This was about 5 or so years ago). I now have a new laptop that I would like to install elements on, but the problem is, I dont have a disk.
I dont want to pay for a whole new photoshop package when I already own a copy. From reading the terms and conditions Im allowed to install photoshop on two different systems, so Im leagally entiled to install elements on my new laptop. I just dont know where to get the software.
Is there a way I can copy the files across from my old laptop? Is there a place I can download the elements software again and enter my product key?

Did you register the original laptop on Sony's site?
I would look into their support site, and log in with your laptop's info/serial number/etc.
Sometimes the support areas have download areas to redownload software that originally came with the system.
Or, you mentioned that you have the license key for the version you have.
I'd open a support ticket on Adobe.com or contact their support and see if you can get a link to redownload the trial for your version if there still is one.

    Welcome to the HP Forum.
It does not sound like you are getting to the point where it is software compatibility -- the download is not finishing.
    Try a different browser?
Make sure the computer is not doing anything else...
Try downloading the software to your notebook, transfer to a USB stick and put it on their system...
Have a friend download the software?
Download the software to your OneCloud, iCloud, some-Cloud account...

  • Unable to connect officejet 4500 g510n to mac

I have purchased a new MacBook Air and cannot get my HP Officejet 4500 g510 n to connect. They are both registered on the same Wireless Router & the MacBook acknowledges the printer. Please Help - driving me mad !!!

    Hello @ChrisWardle,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with installing your HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer on your new Mac OS X computer. However, I do need to clarify what Operating System you're using on your new Mac computer?
    What's my OS?
Because you said this is a new Mac, I'm going to assume that you're using Mac OS X 10.10. Should you be using Mac OS X 10.9 the troubleshooting steps that I'm going to provide you with below should be roughly the same. On the Mac OS X 10.9 and 10.10 Operating Systems there is no HP downloadable Full Feature Software and Driver available for this model of printer. Therefore, you are relying solely on your Apple Updates for installing the features of your printer. To ensure that your printer is installed properly, please follow the steps below.
If you have a USB Cable connected from your printer to your Mac, please disconnect that cable now.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
To ensure that we have a nice clean slate to work with, can I please have you click here. When the website opens select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. Please run Method One: Reset the printing system, and Method two: Uninstall the Printer software.
Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
    Step 4: Add your Printer:
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
    2. Select Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
    3. Do the following, depending on if the printer is listed or not:
If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication with the Mac. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer. Once the printer is removed, click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
    4. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu.
    5. Click Add to add the printer to the list.
    6. Close Print & Scan

Once these steps are complete, please try to print.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • OS 10.4.11 and HP Officejet 4500 compatibility issue (scanning)

    Hi there,
    I am having a compatibility issue with a G4 (OS 10.4.11) and a HP Officejet 4500 (all-in-one).
(Sorry if this is a little long, but there are many specs and many attempts listed here).
Problem: I cannot scan from the computer (upon opening HP Scan, a Browser Device window pops up, asking to "Choose a scanning device" the model is not listed, and it continues to search for a device but cannot find it) or from the scanner control panel to the computer (I tried selecting Open in HP Scan and Open in Preview from the panel  –it then says on the panel "Starting scanning" but it doesn't scan even though the power button flashes (it then reverts to date and time), and the program it's opening in on the computer just seems to hang).
    Still, some functions work fine:
    - I can print from the computer to the printer (it recognizes the printer)
    - The HP fax test seemed to run fine (via computer)
    - As a stand-alone device (without the computer), I can photocopy in B&W and color –so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the scanner itself.
    Here are the specs:
    Computer specs:
    - PowerPC G4, 933 MHz, 512 MB SDRAM, running OS 10.4.11 (no Intel Core processor)
(the hard drive is partitioned into 3 –one runs 10.4.11 (the others Jaguar and OS9 –for compatiblity with other programs/peripherals) –21GB space remaining on 10.4.11 partition
    All-in-One specs:
    - HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m (USB, not wireless) all-in-one (printer/scanner/fax/copier) with USB 2.0 high-speed A-B printer cable (says in literature and on box it is  compatible with the G4 running OS 10.4.11, 256 MB RAM, 500 MB HD)
I contacted HP Tech Support. They suggested the following which were tried and failed to work:
    - shutting everything down and restarting (many times)
    - they checked to see if there was any update to the HP software –there didn't appear to be
    - plug power cord directly into wall outlet
    - switch to USB 2.0 cable (from 1.0)
    - unplugging and replugging the USB 2.0 cable
    - plug USB directly into the G4
    - turning off the firewall (under System Preferences - Sharing)
    - "scrub" or complete uninstall of all HP software (twice)
    - search and removal of files via system and user libraries pertaining to HP (and some Epson files)
    - verify and repair permissions (twice)
    - reinstall of HP software (twice, second time after scrub/uninstall and verify/repair permissions)
    - Software Update (via Apple menu) –only found Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2 (version 2.0) which they suggested might fix the problem –I downloaded and installed them, and then J2SE 5.0 Release 4 (version 4.0) which I downloaded but could not install (error message)
I then contacted Apple Tech Support and they said to go to support.apple.com and do a manual search for "HP 4500" –I did not find any drivers.
[I did previously have an Epson CX 4600 all-in-one which scanned fine with a USB 1.0 cable, even after the printheads had clogged shut –and I had had a HP Officejet J4580 which worked fine (which was for a family member) –this software would've been removed with the current HP installs and scrubs]
I am on the verge of returning this –it has also gotten several very bad reviews on the Apple site (for the wireless), however, I may have trouble finding a compatible device, as one running 10.4 is getting hard to find (unless I buy used, then no warranty and potentially other problems).
If anyone knows of any drivers or has any other information as to why this is not working, I would be most grateful (BTW, I am not much of a tech guy, so please bear with me).
    Thanks.
