I need to move my PSE 11 from an old laptop running Vista to a new PC on Windows 8.1.

Originally my photos were all on the hard drive, but as that filled up I have moved them all to an external USB drive. All my photos that are cataloged are on the same external drive.
I have a full catalog backup from Elements, but on the same USB drive. What is the best way to migrate to my new PC? Should I backup the catalog again but to a different USB drive to avoid extra confusion? I have a folder structure that I would like to keep as it covers several years of photos, so I hope the option to keep the structure is available in v11.
Also, do I need to deactivate the laptop registration to complete the new install, is this necessary on version 11?

All you normally need to do is copy the entire iTunes folder from User's Music on one computer into User's Music on the other. You can use a network share or an external drive to help with the move. Move the library before installing iTunes.
See this migrate iTunes library post for more details and strategies for when the library isn't in the usual layout.

  • How do I move all my settings from my old computer with Vista to a New one with Windows 7 ? I'm using V. 14.0.1 on both Systems

    Hello All,
How do I move all my Settings & Bookmarks from my 5 year old Computer running Vista and Firefox V. 14.0.1 , to my New Computer with Windows 7 and also Firefox 14.0.1 ?
    Thank you very much.

You can copy your Firefox profile from one computer to the other and continue working with almost no changes :)
[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
A really easy way to do this is the following:
#Click the Start button, type %APPDATA% into the search bar, press Enter (on your old PC)
#Right click on the Mozilla folder, copy to a thumb drive (or something you can use to transfer it to your new PC)
#Go to %APPDATA% the same way on your new computer
#If the Mozilla folder already exists, I'd either delete it or rename it
#Paste the Mozilla folder into the same place on your new PC
    #then upgrade to Firefox 15
You can also use Firefox Sync. [[How do I set up Firefox Sync?]]

  • HT1451 I need to move my library from my old computer to my new laptop. What's the best way to do this?

I need to move my library from my old computer to my new laptop (Windows 8). What's the best way to do this?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

  • Is it possible to move my iTunes from the old laptop to the new one (including all the music files and playlists) without having to start all over again with a blank iTunes?

Is it possible to move my iTunes from the old laptop to the new one (including all the music files and playlists) without having to start all over again with a blank iTunes?

    yes
You will need to copy the whole iTunes folder which is in your user profile on the old computer in Music folder.
Before you do it make sure iTunes are updates on the old computer and it works without any problems.
This will copy all your media, music, movies (provided you did not change the default location).
After the migration you will need to sing in to Apple store again with your Apple ID
and also authorize your new computer (both done from the tom menu bar in Store.
Once you are done please deauthorize your old computer (the same menu path) if you are not planning to use it anymore.
    Any problems post here.

  • How do I unlink my iPod from my old laptop and link it to new one without wiping all the tracks off it

How do I unlink my iPod from my old laptop (Vista) and link it to my new laptop (Windows 7) with deleting all the songs?

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

  • Hi, just got a new computer and need to move my library from the old one to the new one.  Does anyone know how to do this or where I can get the information?  Thanks!!

I just got a new computer and need to move my itunes library from my old computer to the new computer.  Does anyone know how to do this or where I can get the information? Thanks!

If you Google ipod nano 6th generation manual, you can download the PDF manual. Here's a quote from page 19:
Transfer purchased content to another computer:
1 Open iTunes on the other computer and choose Store > Authorize This Computer.
2 Connect iPod nano to the newly authorized computer.
3 In iTunes, choose File > Transfer Purchases from iPod.
Songs that are not from the iTunes store can be copied to the new computer, and you just have to do File>Add to Library to get them into iTunes. And if you don't plan to continue using your old computer, you should deauthorize it because you only get 5 authorizations for iTunes store purchases, and this will cancel out the authorization on the old computer.

  • I need to move my itunes from an old pc to a new one. How do I move the library

I am moving my itunes operation from an old XP pc to a newer Vista laptop.  I have backed up my library to an external hard drive.  I have downloaded the current version of Itunes on the new pc and now need to populate it with my itunes library.  What is the easiest way to do that? I don't want to take a chance in losing any music.

This is the process I usually recommend.
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
If you've done the backup properly, delete any existing empty iTunes library that has already been made then copy in the entire iTunes folder from the external drive into your profile's music folder. Start iTunes. It should "just work" with no need to import anything.

  • How do I move my bookmarks from my old laptop to my new laptop without having to enter them one at a time?

I just want to move my bookmarks to Firefox in my new laptop computer.

The most convenient method is to export to a file, then copy/email the file, then import from the file. The most straightforward format is the HTML format. These articles describe the steps:
Old PC: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Exporting%20bookmarks%20to%20an%20HTML%20file Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file | How to | Firefox Help].
New PC: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Importing%20Bookmarks%20from%20an%20HTML%20File Importing Bookmarks from an HTML File | How to | Firefox Help]
'''Please note:''' the menu item formerly named "Organize Bookmarks" is now known as "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and 5.

  • I need to transfer my CS4 from my old laptop to my new iMac, but don't have the discs or my license

I plan on upgrading to CC, but need to get CS4 on my computer first to get the discounted rate (or do I just need to know my license # to get the lower rate?).
I'm pretty sure you can look up your license number somewhere within the software, I just can't remember where...?
Also, do I need the original discs to download the software on my new computer, or am I able to just drag and drop the applications onto a thumb drive and transfer them that way?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You can download and install Cs4 applications from here Download CS4 products ..
Just one advise, CS4 is not compatible with MAC MAVERICK . So there might be problem in using the application on the new version of MAC.
Also copying from a flash drive will not work, you have to install it on the computer.
And yes, You can upgrade to the CC 2014 and is is not necessary to install the application to upgrade. But to get it on discounted price, you must own the previous version.
You can check the serial number by going to your account on adobe.com
    Adobe ID
You can click on the above link, login with Adobe ID and password and if you have registered the Serial number, you will get there.
You will not be able to get it from with in the application.

  • I need help migrating my applications from my old G5 power mac to my new macbook pro

Im struggling migrating my applications from my G5 power mac to my new macbook pro. My G5 runs on OS X 10.5.8 and when using the traditional tool of Migration assistant my new macbook urges me to update my G5 which it obviously it can't due to its original licensing agreements. I have no codes for my software as it came on the pc: I need , Logic pro 9, the complete adobe CS4 package and final cut pro . How can i put this on my new mac ??

So you never really owned the software to begin with then. Software is licensed and has to be transferred and when you bought your Mac (PC) they really did not.

As for a temporary solution, you can run 10.6.8 as a VM under later versions of Mac OS X like Mavericks so you can have use of Rosetta and it runs the PowerPC code.
Your new Intel Mac can run Windows natively also, can dual boot both Mac and Windows, if that is of any use, for some it is.
Right now you are not in the MacBook Pro forum! :-) This is Mac Pro sans "Book" and is not a laptop at all, but a 'trash can' or tower.

  • I need to copy adobe acrobat from an old laptop...

to a new one but I can't locate my disc.  Can I copy the files using a flash drive or download the app and enter my license?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Download and use your serial number:
    Acrobat XI, X - http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html
    Acrobat 9, 8 - http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-8-9-product-downloads.html

  • CS3 has been installed (from a DVD) and running on a brand new computer with Windows 7. After a de-installation and re-installation (for "external" reasons), Acrobat 8 Professional demands the Serial Number, but doesn´t accept it.

I´ve been sent here by the Adobe Support but haven´t found a matching problem yet.
It´s a minor problem (the same Serial Number has been accepted in the course of the first installation), but seeking help took me several hours already.
    Oldrich

I´ve been following the same installation procedure as for the first time. There is just one DVD in the set with all the installation files. The only change is the "Invalid Serial Number" message in the very end. Then, a windows appears which announces that "the trial period" continues -- as if I had downloaded the program from some website.

I need to move 1000 photos from one library to another. How do I do that and keep the ratings and dates they were created? I tried exporting them, but it loses all info. Also, how do I move the quicktime movies from one iphoto library to another? They were exported as jpgs

Add both libraries to iPhoto Library Manager.  Then select the events or albums that you want to copy from library A  and drag them to library B in iPLM.
